Climbing, skate park, really diverse classes, a good amount of equip, running space indoors, pool and sauna and hot tub and steam room, and all of it is clean, and the staff is largely very nice. Be aware that the swim instructors need more training. Not only is the lesson full of fluff, just singing and splashing around, but this is not my issue my issue is the safety of the children that attend these classes. My 4-year-old was in lessons and has since been pulled because her instructor Douah, left her alone in the pool and got out - left her ALONE IN THE POOL. She does not know how to swim and should never be left alone, which you would think her teacher would be aware of. Thank god my daughter was able to keep her head up and my son jumped in to get her out of the pool. When I confronted the instructor about leaving her alone in the pool she said "She said she wanted to stay in the pool" UM she doesn't know how to swim and she is 4 - you are the adult and her "teacher" is your responsibility to get her out safely. The manager on duty also shared that this isn't the first safety concern that they have had about her and not even the first in the day. Why would you have someone teaching children in a pool if you know that they do not keep them safe? When I spoke to the aquatics leader, he said he doesn't think anything like this will happen again, because she has been spoken to. I am pretty certain when it comes to the lives of children in a pool you should be certain it will never happen again, but what do I know? Drownings happen in a matter of moments, so do better with your training for your swim teachers, and maybe don't have people who are proven not to keep children safe in the pool. If you are in lessons with your kids there, please keep a close eye on them. read more

Amazing!! Staff is excellent, facilities are clean and they have everything you could possibly need.

This review is of their swimming area. Their staff is hyper vigilant at forcing people to follow the rules, even to the point of yelling at small children for the smallest infractions. My kid got yelled at because she got scared in the lazy river, so she grabbed on the edge and tried to stop herself. My other kid got yelled at when I sat him on the edge of the pool to have a pep talk with him before I taught him to swim. I can understand no running, diving, yelling, throwing things, but they have a rule against pretty much anything and they enforce it even when not enforcing it would be safer. Every hour they force all the shivering kids out of the water for a stupid "adults only swim" even if there are litterally no adults swimming. The price is ok, and the amenities are good, but I'll never go back. It was very stressful to make sure my kids followed every little rule they have there. read more

GREAT amenities and VERY affordable compared to other gyms! I have 3 kids and we've been visiting The Trails Recreation Center since we moved to the area 8 years ago. My kids loved the fountain play area, lazy river and water slides, dad loves the lap pool and hot tub. There's a nice variety of paid and "free" classes for both kids and adults, as well as community activities and access to physical therapists and personal trainers. I'm an amateur kettlebell sport athlete and use the facility 4-5 times per week. The staff is generally friendly, helpful and accommodating, they keep things reasonably clean and in good repair and they have a wide variety of cardio equipment, free weights and weight machines to choose from. It can get crowded evenings and weekends, but there's seldom a long wait for equipment. I love ending my workout in the steam room or sauna and a nice hot shower before I head to work. I've had memberships at chain and franchise gyms as well as private gyms. If you're self-motivated and have your own training plan, this is a great budget-friendly option! So grateful to have access to this great facility supported by our community!! read more

We only went to the aquatics area and we had the best time. My husband, our 3 yr old, and I enjoyed every part of it. The two slides, the lazy river, the toddler splash, the lap lanes, and hot tub were all awesome! The lifeguards were very kind and friendly. The water temperature was perfect. We had such a blast we didn't realize we had been there for over 3 hrs! It was never crowded too. The family bathrooms had lots of private rooms with hot showers too! We will totally go again and explore other parts like the rock climbing area. read more

I like the facility. I like the classes. I like the pool. I do not recommend the childcare. They are not a licensed daycare facility. Although they have CPR certification, they receive no training on SIDS. I had a concern on not allowing my baby to sleep in her car seat, as there have been reports of infant asphyxiation from car seat naps at daycares. The worker questioned me, told me I was wrong and said that my baby would stay in the car seat. When I asked the manager what kind of training outside of CPR they receive she said "most of them are moms". If your kid cannot talk change his/her own diaper then be hesitant to buy an annual pass. I feel dumb that I wasted my money on this and I naively thought my kids would be well cared for. On a positive note, I think it could work if they were closer to ages 5 or 6 (because they could talk more) I have also heard the childcare is better in the afternoon (so I may try that) Also, I've heard of kids biting in other gym daycares and haven't experienced that here so that's good! Overall, I might try it again, only because I bought the annual pass, but I definitely do not recommend doing what I did in buying a pass if your kids are very young. Just trying to save someone else from my mistake. read more

Although I left the neighborhood years ago, I continue to go back to the Trails when I want to get a good workout in. While the cardio equipment is top-notch and never too busy, I mainly go and take advantage of their classes. They have plenty each day offered at almost any time you want. My favorites include Pilates with Robin, Kickboxing with Shigeko and Muscle Madness with Lori. Kids aren't allowed in the gym unless they are over 13 but there is daycare available, along with a pool with slides that you can drop them off at while you workout. The have basketball courts, squash and raquetball rooms, an indoor track, pool, and cycling areas. Really, whatever you like to do for exercise you can do here. Everyone on the staff is always really helpful and overall, the place is very clean! Although I have lots of gyms closer to me now that I moved, I will still go to the Trails for some easy and fulfilling exercise. read more

Been taking my son here for swim lessons. We've only done parent & tot so far (so it's more "water exposure" than lessons, and I'm in the pool with him), but we've really liked it. They've got a great setup with a "beach" area, two lap areas for big kid lessons, and then a small area surrounded by a "moving river" for the tot lessons. They have a couple of slides as well. The locker rooms are really nice and big, and it looks like they have great gym areas too (though I've never done anything but swim class there). The prices are affordable, and I'm considered "out of district" too (the district boundaries are weird, I'm out by one block....seriously). We'll definitely be doing more classes, maybe even some for mom! read more

Trails recreational center included a nice cardio gym and decent amount of weights. It Is a bit cramped, but usable. They have a nice track if you want to run inside. Also, if you have kids they have a very reasonable daycare area. They also have classrooms (pottery Etc ) but I've never tried it. The swimming pool is why we joined. Nice zero entry, slides, lap pool, and a not very hot jacuzzi. If you live in district you do get a discount. We don't, but it's still nicer/closer than lifetime fitness. read more

So far, I have only come to Trails for baby swim lessons. The babies can start from 6 months old (or just before if they're about to turn 6 months) and my son loves it. We have to modify some of the activities, he can't exactly jump into the water by himself yet, but it's fine. He's still learning to kick and splash etc. And it's so much cheaper than a swim school. It's about $42 for 8 sessions and they're done in 4 weekly blocks. The main reason for the 4 stars is because the family change room only had two stalls with toilets and showers. The rest are just change rooms. I've only experienced it once where there was a line up for the stall that I was in, and I ended up hurrying and now showering myself because I felt rushed when I can hear everyone outside the door going "not long now little jimmy we have to wait our turn". I just changed the baby, myself and got out of there. As it turns out, one lady waiting was a pregnant lady wanting to use just the toilet. She could have just as easily gone into the restroom! read more

We LOVE the trails!!!!! My daughter had been enrolled in swimming lessons here for 2 months after numerous problems we encountered at Sage Splash, and I have seen vast improvement in her swimming abilities. All of the instructors are extremely kind and great with the kids! We love Miss Savannah and Miss Lilly! As I mentioned, we came here after numerous problems at Safe Splash. Not only is the trails swimming lessons much cheaper but I have seen so much more progress in my daughters swimming ability than I ever did at Safe Splash! I would highly recommend lessons here! read more

Super great staff. Art classes were so engaging and encouraging for my daughters. The dance classes for toddlers are a good introduction. The cardio and yoga classes are spot on. The pool is heavy on the chlorine. The waterslides are great and zero depth entry is perfect for little ones. Downside, the family locker room is too small. No matter how many signs go up, moms keep bringing boys over the age of 5 into the women's locker room. Very uncomfortable for my teens. read more

The facility it self is ok but the staff has a lot be desired. Back in June of this year I applied to have a session with a trainer. The form clearly states a trainer will contact you to schedule a session in 7 days. Well, two weeks later I called to find out why no had called me. I was told someone would call me. A week later I called again and was told the same thing again. Well, after three calls I spoke to the manager. She said since no one had called the training session was free. While it was great to finally get a work out session with a trainer the fact that it took me three calls after filling out and turning in the form to get it scheduled was unacceptable. I should have taken this as indication of the poor staff management at the facility. Let me start at the beginning. I started going to the Trails in 2018. It was ok but very difficult to get a bike. There is a time limit of usage when people are waiting of 30 minutes for the bikes and treadmills. If you want to try to work in expect to be called names, told no, etc. Don't expect the staff to enforce the rules if you complain. As a for instance, I do station/circuit training on the weight machines. The first time I tried to work in I was told "no I haven't been on the machine for 30 minutes" then I was told "no since you want it I'm not moving". I couldn't believe it so I complained. 15 minutes later a person who introduced himself to me as the manager (he isn't the manager) finally came out to speak to this person. He did nothing!!! A few weeks later, the same person who I asked to work in on previously was sitting on the same station. I asked to work in. I was called a pain in the ass so I complained. The woman was spoken to but nothing happened. A few weeks later once again the same person was sitting on the same machine. Once again I asked to work in. She responded with a "no". I complained again this time to the manager. She did speak to this person but nothing was done. Today this person was on the same machine again. I asked to work in. At first her response was better than expected. She said I have 2 sets to go. So I asked how many reps. She said 15 each. Now while this is a better response then in the past the only acceptable response is one. I was ok with that but when she called me a cry baby for working in that was enough. I complained about her behavior for the fourth time. This time I remained while the staff talked to her. It was a joke. If your looking for a facility in which the staff enforces the rules with regard to working in, dress code, no bags allowed on the floor, etc. go somewhere else. When my membership expires I'm not renewing. read more

I just drove 20 minutes to get back home after driving 20 minutes to get to this place. My kids were super excited to try it out. I called ahead of time since I just moved here to get the information on cost. The guy asked me how old my kids are and I told him 11 and 5. He told me the cost which was reasonable, so then I headed to Walmart to get the kids swimsuits. I didn't get one for myself because I didn't plan on swimming. The guy on the phone failed to tell me that an adult has to be in the pool with anyone 5 and under. And I didn't bring a swimsuit because of this reason. Had I known, I could've bought one for myself while we were at Walmart. He also failed to tell me that you have to bring your own towels. Another important piece of information omitted. So needless to say, we were unable to use the facility after shopping and driving 20 minutes to get there. My kids were so upset and my 5 year old cried all the way home. I don't understand the point of calling to get information if the people working here are going to leave out important pieces of information. If you're going to charge people to use your facility, the least you can do is equip them with the info they'll need prior to arrival. Especially if they're coming with kids! It's enough juggling being a parent and managing kids, let alone dealing with poor customer service. To top it off, the guy handed me a piece of paper with the policies on it when I arrived and said "see it's listed on there" but I don't see why he didn't tell me this info over the phone. Telling me when I get there and showing it to me on a piece of paper does nobody any good and only made me more frustrated. I feel worse for my kids who had their hopes up about this place. I would consider going back but the customer service was so awful that it may ruin our chances of even wanting to try it. And it's disappointing because I was going to buy a membership. Maybe this was my sign I would've regretted it if I did. I called when I got home to speak to a manager but no one answered and the phone rang 6 times then went a voicemail that's not even set up. ***UPDATE*** I emailed the managers informing them of my experience and Michelle (one of the manager's) responded back and apologized and made things right by assuring me she would make sure to discuss this with the staff. I appreciate her speedy response and effort to make things right. I'll update this to 3 stars, not 5 yet since I still have not tried their facility to give it a full review. However, when I do try it and if everything is great, I'll be sure to update this review again so a fair review is given. read more

The Trails is a great place to exercise in a low stress environment. It's equipped with everything you need for a great workout. Take a class, walk the indoor track, swim in the lap pool or use the many cardio machines as well as free weights. If you like rock climbing there is a wall for that too. Bring a lock for the locker room and enjoy a hot shower after your workout. There is an area for the kids arts and crafts, snacks and after school homework. The feel is relaxed and has a family environment. Not your usual gym. read more

Cooking classes for my teen daughter and a great birthday party are one of things that The Trails offer outside of fitness classes and swimming. The only thing that keeps this at a 4 star is the one way out and parking lot. It can get super crowded, hard to get out without a long wait and the teens drive a little crazy in tight spaces. read more

The Trail Recreation Area is such a great facility, gym and they offer awesome classes at an great price that beats out all other competitors (even if you are paying for out of district cost). We love the facility! It is such a warm comfortable environment with state of the art equipment, in a clean environment. The staff are really friendly and helpful as well. Awesome place. Came here because the pools in the area were closed or full and my son and I were in from Chicago. We came to this place after calling first and the woman on the phone was so pleasant and nice. She welcomed us in when we got there and told us where everything was. My son had a blast. Sometimes I love this place and others I hate it. The good- some teachers are great whether it be classes such as cardio river challenge, buts and guts classes but some teachers .... Not so much. I LOVE that they have so many water options, lap pool, hot tub, slides, lazy river. Also decent amount of work out machine and weights. The bad- their front desk check in system seems to break like once a month. Speaking of breaking, their work out machines do too. Also, although they are doing a LITTLE better, it's very frustrating to pay your way in there and some random days they are training lifeguards, cleaning the pool, or doing a class and they turn you away when you went to all that trouble to change, pay and no dice. I will say due to tons of complaints thankfully, they are making more attempts to communicate that the pool is closed. read more

I wanted to provide an update as our gym has listened to us and has made some adjustments. They graciously now have Childcare available on Sundays! They also have lengthened their Saturday hours until 1:15 PM. Both are greatly appreciated. The Internet also is great now. I have zero complaints about the strength or range of the Internet. The TVs are still a bit dated and it would be great to someday have a television in each cardio machine but I am thankful for the changes the gym has made to accommodate it's members. Great Facility! They have PIckleball on Tuesday and Thursday mornings which I love and lots of great classes.

Just moved into the neighborhood, went to check this place out to go swim laps with my wife and little cousin. pretty nice place, spacious, looked like there was a good sized gym but I didn't go look. all I can review at this time is the pool. its a standard 25M pool with 4 lanes. the lifeguards here looked like college students but they are helpful and nice. there is a mens/womens locker but also a family locker room. read more

This is a gorgeous facility. They have something for everyone, including us old folks who fill up the pool for morning Water Zumba. Since I'm more of a swimmer, I spend most of my time in the lap pool. Fair warning: the kiddie pool (which features a lazy river & slide) are really just for kids and mom's with infants. Just avoid it (for obvious and not-so-obvious reasons). The staff at the front desk are so friendly and always seem happy to see me. I like that. And they have options for memberships, which is also nice. If you purchase a set of passes, for example, it turns out to be about 7 bucks a visit. Not too shabby. Here's the one thing that bugs me about Trails: signs. Signs everywhere telling you what you can't do. Don't do this, don't do that. I was almost dizzy reading all of the different signs posted all over the aquatics area and the locker rooms. Do they really need all of these signs? Maybe for a public facility. But it always strikes me as strange for a business to emphasis what they don't want rather than creating systems & changing procedures that get the outcome they do want. If you live in this vicinity, I encourage you to come check it out. Recreation centers offer a lot of bang for your buck as compared to some of the higher-priced fitness centers. I love this place!! There is so much offered here. From the great pool, to workout classes, to the indoor track. This is hands down my favorite Rec center. The building is clean and well kept and the staff are helpful and attentive. We have attended many birthday parties, as well as hosted one of our own, here. I love the indoor pool. Warm water, big slides, and a lazy river to float in = fun for the whole family. My husband and I even had our turns going down the slides. The best part is adult swim; sorry kiddos. The last 5 minutes of the session, kids are asked to leave the pool so the adults (and children with special wristbands) can enjoy the water sans little ones. There is a large section with a walk in/beach entry that is relatively shallow for children. Complete with water buckets that dump from over head, pool toys, and sprinkler things shooting water everywhere. My kids love it. There is a smaller section with deeper water, about 5 feet, for the bigger kids or better swimmers. My big girls tend to hang out on that side. With so much going on, there are plenty of lifeguards on deck. They are not only keeping a close eye on everyone, they actively engage with you; just adding to the fun. There are rooms you can reserve for parties or events and packages range in price depending on the number of attendees. For $200 we rented the room, received a delicious ice cream cake, had 1.5 hours to swim and had special lifeguards assigned to our party of 9. Best of all, we were allowed to stay and swim after the party was over. The party rooms are private for birthdays and such, however, the locker rooms are not. They are family locker rooms. I found it quite startling to have men in the same changing area with me and my daughters. Everyone minded their manners, but it was still uncomfortable for us. I believe there are private lockers rooms on the other side of the pool, however, it was freezing (I mean FREEZING) cold in there. I could only stand the cold long enough to use the restroom, so I didn't get to check it out further. If you're planning to visit call ahead to find out the drop in pricing for the activities you're interested in. I have to admit, the prices for this facility are higher than other rec centers or indoor pools in the area. If you plan to visit regularly, there are memberships you can purchase as well. In my opinion this is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon, get in a quick workout, or brighten up a dreary day. read more

We recently held my daughter's 8th birthday party at Trails. She had been asking all year as this is her favorite swimming pool in our area. They have a lazy river, two great waterslides, and a water playground. We planned the party with Michelle, who was unbelievably kind, professional, responsive, and competent. They even order the cake for you from Coldstone Creamery! The kids had their own lifeguard, the staff made every accomodation they could, and the kids had a great time. It could not have been better. In addition because we had several kids not show up due to illness they prorated our fees. I cannot recommend them highly enough for party planning! We will definitely be back next year, and the year after that. read more

staff are very disrespectful in the pool area to the point of almost kicking people including kids. Some lifeguards just don't care while others almost kick people out for the slightest of rule breakage. A lifeguard yelled at my son then barely one minute later was flirting with another lifeguard. read more

My family loves all the facilities at Trails. Clean, bright and inviting! One criticism I have is that the play pool/water slide area rules seem to change from one day to the next; sometimes my small - for - his - age son is allowed to go down the slides, and other days not. He's about 1-2 inches over the minimum height, but because of the sign they use to measure height, it's hard to tell. I now carry a small tape measure in my pool bag. It is not based on age or swimming skill, but height. So my 10-year-old proficient swimmer gets kicked off sometimes because he's short, but a tall 6-year - old who struggles to swim goes on. read more
