The store has alpt of variety but it is difficult to find help. I know they are nice folks at the store but it would've been nice if they offer me suggestions or ideas. The train store looks nice though but couldn't find the right parts I needed.

Was here not long ago, mostly just to visit to see what selection they had of locos as I'd recently gotten back into the hobby with the club I was invited to. Very diverse selection, and to say it lightly it's honestly a better one than many other stores I've been too. But I've also read the reviews before heading to this place. Personal experience? It was fine, I was mostly browsing, I was greeted and told goodbye, however I did get the feeling that I was being watched the entire time around, I wanted to snap some photos of what they had for future reference and a potential future purchase but felt genuinely uncomfortable with that persistent feeling (never had this happen to me at hobby stores). Was asked a few light-hearted questions, but unless you know what you're getting and ready to spend some money, I would not come here, the stores in Roseville and Concord, although not as diverse with their selection of locos, I still had a better experience with. I hope this store changes for the better if I ever do decide to swing by again and perhaps my review will change.

Broadway Limited Southern Pacific Daylight Cab Forward - HO DCC

I like this place. A lot. I am primarily an HO scaler and I am really into Southern Pacific and Union Pacific models - anything really that goes through and has Bay area history in railroads and this shop has a wonderful selection of all the road names. I also have friends and family who have worked for BNSF so I am happy they have lots of models for those road names as well. I've acquired primarily Southern Pacific and Union Pacific steam and diesel locomotives in both HO and N scale and lots of rolling stock and accessories from the Train shop and they have always had the best models and selection in stock and ready to go. I like how they will always run the locomotives for you and sort out any DCC issues before you walk out the door with your haul. I recently got into N scale and they have a massive selection in stock so its very easy to dive in and get all of your gear from here. You can get a simple $99 dollar DC locomotive here all the way to a high-dollar $1000+ rivet accurate model that blows smoke and has more prototypical features than you have time to learn about. All of the models in pics were obtained at the train shop!

Great selection and service. Very personalized in that they will demonstrate the trains you are looking at on their track.

This store is dying. No more new stuffs. Most shelves were empty when I was there at Xmas time. Look like they will be out of business soon.

Have a wide assortment of supplies for the hobby. They don't sell the cheaply made stuff that disappoints after a few usages.

One thing they stock that is hard to find in any other Bay Area store is Live Steam locomotives to run on G scale track.

When I first walked in, the box was clearly marked at $359.99. I went to the counter, and to be fair, the employee was helpful and gave me a reasonable offer of $365 in store credit, which I agreed to. No issues there. But when we walked over to grab the hobby box, the price had suddenly jumped to $510.99. That's a huge difference, and it happened while I was literally in the store. When I pointed it out, I was told they were "updating prices" and that they could only honor the original price if I had taken a picture of it. That's not how you run a business. Changing prices during store hours--especially while a customer is actively making a purchase--is unprofessional and unfair. Expecting customers to take pictures of price tags just in case they change minutes later is ridiculous. I understand prices fluctuate, especially in collectibles, but updates like that should be handled before opening or after closing--not in the middle of a transaction. This experience left a bad impression, and I'd be cautious about doing business here again.

I asked the owner and he mentioned Tatsu hobby as it wasn't far away. First off, this place is kind of hard to find as it is in a completely nondescript industrial complex and far back from the street. There is no way you would just be driving around and come across this place, you have to be searching for it. Also the layout of the store is weird. You first enter into a small room with a couple of display cases, (nothing you can buy I think), with a small desk and a cash register to the right. There was a small man sitting there having a conversation with a person so I wasn't quite sure what to do. My first thought was, "This is it?" But then I noticed there is another room through a open door in the back, so I proceeded through. This is where the kits actually are. The main room is pretty cramped with a few shelves of kits and a table that 3 people were sitting eating at and having nerdy discussions. I wanted to ask a question but I wasn't sure if they worked there or not. I didn't really see that there was really any sort of organization to the store other than the Gundams pretty much seem to be along the rear of the room and other types of kits are near the front. My biggest gripe is that none of the boxes have a price sticker on them. You have to ask the guy up front. Lame. And the couple of kits I asked about were priced higher than other places I normally buy from like Newtype. I'll just stick with Newtype in Union City from now on. Unfortunately they are only open M-F but they do ship and I usually get my orders in a day or two. I wouldn't bother going to Tatsu again.

Get some anime gashapon, but it's hard to get some of the ones you like since they're out of stock. I really wish they would stock up more on the popular items. Things are getting a little pricey. $15 for five tokens, and most gashapon are two or three tokens. A lot of the gashapon are anime, sanrio, animals, even food. The last time we were there, they even had little Nikes! The only downside is that it gets pretty warm in there. Especially when the place is packed, it gets really hot. Hopefully they'll think about adding air conditioning or at least fans soon.

The employee with black hair and glasses came across as rude toward another customer, speaking in a condescending manner and appearing to assume the customer was a scalper. Watching this interaction felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. When other customers tried to ask questions, the same staff member was dismissive and rolled his eyes a few times, which made the overall atmosphere feel unwelcoming. A store like this should feel fun and inviting, especially for collectors and fans who are genuinely excited to be there. That said, I want to be clear that I do like this store overall and have had positive experiences with other staff members in the past, who have always been friendly and helpful. This particular interaction stood out in an unfortunate way and left me feeling disappointed. I hope management takes this feedback into consideration and addresses the situation, because this type of behavior is not okay and takes away from what should be a positive experience.
