It's a medium sized shop with lots of merchandise from boxes, video games and cards from sports, pokemon, and one piece! It's a clean shop with lots of merchandise protected by glass windows and neatly labeled with the price. It's a bit on the higher side from card shops I've been to. It's fun to see families enjoy pokemon with their kids! It's so cool to interact with other pokemon fans who are passionate about collecting. read more

I had a pretty frustrating experience at GameTime Hobby Shop. I came in to trade some Pokémon cards for store credit so I could pick up an F1 Topps hobby box. When I first walked in, the box was clearly marked at $359.99. I went to the counter, and to be fair, the employee was helpful and gave me a reasonable offer of $365 in store credit, which I agreed to. No issues there. But when we walked over to grab the hobby box, the price had suddenly jumped to $510.99. That's a huge difference, and it happened while I was literally in the store. When I pointed it out, I was told they were "updating prices" and that they could only honor the original price if I had taken a picture of it. That's not how you run a business. Changing prices during store hours--especially while a customer is actively making a purchase--is unprofessional and unfair. Expecting customers to take pictures of price tags just in case they change minutes later is ridiculous. I understand prices fluctuate, especially in collectibles, but updates like that should be handled before opening or after closing--not in the middle of a transaction. This experience left a bad impression, and I'd be cautious about doing business here again. read more

I visit all the card shops I see in the area and saw this one close by so we went in. The shop is huge with plenty of light and ventilation. Beautiful shop with cards beautifully laid out in their glass cases. My rating is low because I think, the prices are pretty high. I have been to many card shops in the area and this is probably the most expensive shop I have seen. Not only for TCG but for supplies as well. One of the so called owners was very rude and has shady practices.....working a deal with an associate where we priced items based on market listing I corrected the employee on a few items he priced incorrectly by a lot over 50$ in difference the so called owner seemed annoyed at it after total valuation one of the so called owners dint like the offer I received and stepped in the sale..proceeds to try to offer me less the older gentleman who runs this business who I met and sold before stated they buy and sell based off the current market listing when I saw they had a item priced at 80 when last sale was 60-65 that's how they justified it by stating that's what they buy and sell and then here comes this guy passive aggressive tryna rip me off smh shady buisness possibly owned by a shady person read more

Came in to scope out some cards and they had some rare ones. I like how the good stuff is locked up. The prices are fair. They have a good selection of vintage consoles if nostalgia is your thing. Maybe I'll cop some cards in the future trip back here. read more

I came in around noon looking for a PS4 game. When I first entered, there was no greeting at all. I walked around for about 10 minutes while two employees stood in the back, and nobody offered to help me. I ended up leaving disappointed. I've sold a lot of games and consoles here before, so this experience was really frustrating. read more

I had an issue with a game (scratched up) I bought from another shop, Retro Rewind in Milpitas. The owner of that store, Shams, called this store to grant me a Playstation 1 disc resurfacing at no cost. I went in and told them Shams sent me for resurfacing. They took my game to the back, worked on my disc. Took a bit longer than expected but it was a little busy so I understood the wait. I received the disc and was impressed as it looked like it was brand new. Easy, quick and thorough resurfacing. 5 stars for the service and collaboration between two shops to help me get a problem fixed. read more

I absolutely love game time! This is a sister store to one of my favorite shops in Milpitas (Retro Rewind). They specialize in video games and card games. The staff and owners are very knowledgeable and helpful when recommending fun video games. They do also do trades toward store credit or cash, they don't rip you off either they actually give you a good amount or even more than expected sometimes. The pricing seems very fair as well. I will be back soon to add to my growing collection. read more

GameTime hobby shop is my go to place for Pokemon. They also have a vast selection of Games, Trading Cards, and Sports cards (singles included!) Jalaal, one of the owners, is extremely fair, kind, and has amazing customer service. I highly disagree with jerri's review on GameTime scalping. It's unfair and damaging to a small business. Anyone into collecting Pokemon understands that getting the latest sealed sets is impossible at MSRP. Unless you are sitting at Target or one of the vending machines from open to close, you are not getting stuff at MSRP. Pokemon does not directly sell to brick and motors; they rely on distributors who....also don't sell for msrp! Good card and game shop with plenty of parking. They have a good collection of slabs and raw cards, mostly in Pokemon and the current popular trends, and then a variety of games and other gaming products. They didn't have much sealed product, though, other than a couple of kinds of blister packs. The staff are super nice and are willing to negotiate a fair price based on market. read more

Came in a little more than an hour before closing. Shop had one set of customers already finishing up, not sure if employee saw us. Browsed through the Xbox games, then PS2 games, PS3 games, SNES, etc...very large selection, easy to navigate, more pricier/rare stuff underneath in glass cases. Employee finished up with first set, didn't greet or acknowledge us. Another set of customers came in, didn't greet them either, just did whatever he was doing. until it was time to ring me up and get me on my way. Nice selection, priced normally as you would for a retro game shop, service was meh. I like places where I feel welcome, didn't get that vibe here. Bad night? I'll give them another shot eventually. I like supporting local retro shops since they aren't very common but geez, help me feel valued as a customer. Husband and I really love coming here and even went on opening day when they opened in Santa Clara. The owners are very nice, knowledgeable, and very quick to open cases or answer questions. We've bought dozens of games and pokemon cards from them by now, even our GameCube and all the controllers! Competitive prices compared to what's online; I've never felt ripped off or anything. We also love going to Trade Night! It's a fun opportunity to engage in the community and get some good cards for my collection too. read more

I used to visit their former location when they were Collector's Club in Milpitas, where they were active in 2022-2023, and doing business with them, whether that was trade-ins or buying sealed Pokemon products or single cards, was absolutely a five-star experience. Sadly, the same cannot be said for this "upgraded" location. Due to the current boom of Pokemon cards as of writing this review, Gametime Hobby Shop's management has done a plethora of sketchy things that will lead me to look for other locations to conduct my business, this being, but not ruling anything out: - Pumping up prices of sealed product that they previously had for MSRP to "market" price immediately after the new "boom" - Explicitly buying scalped product from local scalpers to resell for market + 10% price (seriously, you can't be discreet about it?) - Offering severely lowered rates on cards in certain conditions and breaking their trade-in percentage promise Honestly, I don't know whether this is because they have new management compared to their old location, or they're just driven to this point to maximize revenue, but if you love the hobby and you're willing to be vigilant, don't give into their sealed prices. read more

I was looking for a retro video game store in santa clara area today and this is my new favorite shop! The store is super nice and clean and they have a huge selection of games, as well as a bunch of arcade cabinets and demo systems for people to play. I collect all systems and from what I saw, they had hundreds of games for PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox, Xbox 360, Saturn, GameCube, DS, 3DS, N64, SNES, Wii, PSP, Switch, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and a bunch more im pretty sure. They also have a big section for trading cards too! They also have a bunch of accessories and controllers and exclusive systems. The staff was also super knowledgeable about retro games as they said they were collectors themselves. I also saw that they don't overcharging for the popular titles, so I know what I'm buying is at a great value. I will definitely be coming back!! read more

I'm really glad that I found this shop. I've visited twice in the past 3 weeks and each visit I've been treated to amazing customer service. They have a huge selection of video games, consoles, Pokémon & sports cards. Their store has a nice floor layout with tons of space to shop & look around at their huge selection of inventory. They also offer great trade-in values for new or used video games plus Pokémon & sports cards. Not to mention competitive pricing on everything mentioned above! They are located in the back corner of Santa Clara Town Centre, drive past Target and you'll find them. I really recommend them to anyone who shares the same hobbies as me! This shop supports scalpers, pays scalpers to go clear out Pokemon Center vending machines of all their stock, and sells product at a crazy up charge. I understand that demand for pokemon tcg products are very high, but shops should have access to dealers and distributors, and shouldn't have to stoop low to support scumbags who clear out vending machines just to sell at a profit. I saw them do business with a scalper who was very arrogant, proud to say that he had cleared out several machines and had lots of extra stock for them to buy and sell at an up charge to customers. The store feels like it's trying to be an apple store, there are no tables to settle in or even play cards, i don't think they even host any sort of events for the community like trade nights, it really does seem like their sole purpose is to move product and make profit. They have zero integrity business practices, i saw them lowball customers trying to get their cards comped for sale, and they are what's wrong with the card collecting community. The whole experience in the store left a bad taste in my mouth. The only redeeming factor is their fem employee, who was very nice and complimented my girlfriend on her hair claw clip, was very helpful and made sure we knew she was ready to help us with whatever we may need. read more
