You should go here. Reasons: Interesting tap list that includes local selections and a variety of styles Curated seasonal cocktail menu Clean bathrooms, possibly the best in Omaha Outdoor patio Food available to-go from neighboring Hook & Lime Fantastic bartenders - knowledgeable, competent, smart, funny and kind Woman-owned Holiday decor is Good view of comings and goings from the Slow Down Never a bad experience Switches to sports bar for the CWS

We decided to go out for a drink after dinner and noticed The Trap Room was decked out for the holidays! This is fun and festive place to go around the Christmas season... they go all out! Drinks were good, but nothing special. Lowkey, small bar that is a good place to hang out!

The Trap Room encompasses the funky spirit of the strip it resides in the north downtown. Along with blue line coffee, urban outfitters, film streams, and the slow down it's one of my beloved areas of Omaha. The inside decor I would describe as retro and modern, perhaps even hipster? It's a bar with no real food other than chips and salsa from Jacobo's- but the atmosphere and the vibe is extra chill and fun. I love their little outdoor patio seating for nicer weather. they also drink specials typically every day for happy hour most of them being a really great deal. Definitely a place to catch up with friends or relax after a day of work. Highly recommended. Edit -*02/02/16 Dogs allowed both inside and on the patio!!! Five stars from me, I never like to leave my baby behind at home while I have all the fun. Thank you for being dog friendly, Trap Room!

So this is the tip I left: "$5 bloody marys on Sundays till 4 p.m." And let me tell you their bloodys are top notch. Each one took nearly five minutes to make as we patiently sat snacking on peanuts and Jacobo's chips and salsa, just relaxing our lazy Sunday afternoon away into the evening. And the taste of the bloodys? Well, only a hint of spice, just how I like 'em, garnished with a pickle, celery stick and two fat little green olives. And that's just a taste of their menu, which features many craft cocktails, beer, fine wine, liquor flights and even margaritas on tap. So the drinks are good. What about the rest? As others have mentioned, the Trap Room is decked out like the basement bar your grandparent's had put in their house in the '70s. Except it's not damp and moldy, but rather clean, cozy and full of a rustic charm that blends mountain man with Mexican siestas. I was amazed by the burnt orange shag-like carpeting. (Like I have a room in my house decked out in wood paneling that would pair perfectly with it.) Anyway, the L-shaped bar has plenty of seats. Across the small room is a section of booths and tables plus a corner for listening to vinyl or tapes on Karen Carpenter's old stereo setup (seriously those where her giant Tannoy speakers). Add in a Twilight Zone pinball machine and a fantastic patio, and you have an all-around great bar/lounge that's a unique concept for Omaha, a concept that's pulled off to perfection.

The margaritas are top notch! The decor sets the stage, and Getting to hear your vinyl on Karen Carpenter's HiFi is so awesome.

Best bartenders around, free nuts, great beer, all in the comfort of a replica of your grandparent's basement.

I went to the Trap Room as the OWH rated its Bloody Marys to be the best in the city.

We got chips and salsa, which were surprisingly spicy, the guacamole had a bit of a cake to it. It was great. The quesadillas were good as well, heavy on the oil. This is not my typical cuisine so it didn't blow me away by any means, but it was good food at a good price. Our server did a great job, taking care of our party of 10! Knowing this was a bachelorette party, she unprompted brought us a free round of shots, which was much appreciated! She even went above and beyond by getting two NA shots for the two pregnant women in our group. Great experience, and great vibe! I would definitely come back here!

Ghost Donkey is visually stunning and has an undeniable aesthetic, but the hospitality on our visit…read morewas completely lacking. We arrived early on a Friday evening, and despite being the very first people at the bar to place an order, my drink was completely forgotten. When I politely followed up to ask about it, the bartender didn't apologize - instead, she bluntly told me that she had other orders to make first and would get to mine eventually. There were zero smiles, no warmth, and an overall low-energy, indifferent attitude from behind the bar that set a sour tone for the rest of the night. If a venue charges premium prices for craft cocktails, the service needs to reflect that standard. It's an absolute shame because the space itself is lovely and has so much potential, but great decor can't compensate for dismissive service. Won't be rushing back.
