He was very knowledgeable and gave us some options on the best way to proceed. We received the estimate the same day. We called to schedule an appointment and were able to book it for the next day (due to a cancellation). The crew was there on time and did an excellent job. I barely complain, but you really have to do something that makes me complain. I've been doing some research for awhile on helping my family arrange the two cedar trees out front that needed the branches to be cut and maintained. We got an estimate from The Tree Guys to reduce and shape both trees as part of the job description. However, one of the trees looked very off balanced. We asked the workers if they can balance it out and workers initially agreed to fix halfway thru the job, but their boss came back at the end and refused to do more because we did not let him know ahead of time, and the workers weren't able to make the decisions. It is however in the job description already, didn't know "reduce and shape" does not include balancing the branches. Maybe I need to buy a new dictionary to figure out that the definition of "balance" and "shaping" means. They weren't the cheapest estimate we found for the job, but we picked them since they seemed to be passionate when they came to do the estimate. A little disappointed how it turned out. Why would you give me a tree that's not balanced. It's like why would you buy a Christmas tree that's not balanced. I wasn't asking for a Charlie Brown Christmas tree but I'm starting to feel i paid for one. read more

The owner Louis has attitude problem very rude and no service at all! We have Monday 05/03/2021 12:00-2:00 scheduled to trim my tree but his team come very early without notice me so In that time I am not home, the guy finish job and go, when I come home I found out my tree been finish but not what I want still same as before not much change and I thought the job is incomplete my tree look still ugly, than I call his office ask him to come back my house take a look discussing how we gonna fix it to cover his team did the lousy work, after 4 day today 5/07/2021 his come my garden with his angry face and sound not happy ask me what did you want ? your are wasting my time....., hey Mr Louis I am your client I am ask you can you do anything to helping my tree look beautiful? TTG did not disappoint at all come day of and are very impressive!!!! First I should note that Alesia emailed a few days in advance to confirm date, time and work to be done. Perfect...we're ready to go! TRG crews arrived right on time with a small caravan of 3 trucks to complete our job. Chuy lead the crew and again confirmed the work to be done and off they went! Crew members strapped into harness to reach tops of our trees & our backyard was quickly a pile of branches and debris. Louie stopped by to check on progress and ensure we were good with everything so far. They could take the old dilapidated fence but neatly stacked the remnants in 2 separate piles. Called to get estimate on Monday, talked to a very rude,smart mouth lady named Alexia. Scheduled a "drive by" to insure I received estimate by today. Called back today, same rude lady answered said scheduled to come out Monday, asked for the owner, she refused demanding to know what it was regarding. Bay Area Tree was able to schedule an estimate within a few days of my call, and the person who came out was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable and I was ready to hire them. Unfortunately, their estimate was the highest of the four estimates I got. It was more than double the price of two other companies who are also highly reviewed and licensed arborists. Ridiculous. These guys were the third option after Mitchell Tree Service gave me a quote that was 2x what everyone else was charging and The Czech Man Tree Service failed to return my phone calls and emails. Positives: Competitive pricing, prompt and on time, came back when I complained about the work and fixed the problem promptly (same day) Negatives: Crew didn't listen to instructions (maybe a language thing) and left a mountain of grapefruit piled on my front porch -- quite comical if I didn't have to deal with it. As mentioned above, when I called to complain, they came back promptly and fixed the problem. Crew also broke a drip irrigation sprayer and didn't bother to mention it to me -- I only discovered it weeks later when the tube attached to it was spraying water all over the place! All in all: Positive experience with The Tree Guys. The Tree Guys are amazing. Good prices, awesome work both thinning/trimming large trees and removing/grinding stumps on large trees. The arborist came out to provide guidance and prepare the estimate, he also was there to instruct the crew before they started. The trimming and removal crew was made up of 10 members, each working furiously fast on their own specific task. Two large trees that were damaging the property were removed and four large trees were expertly trimmed (the Cypress looks like a postcard now) in about 3.5 hours. All residue was cleaned up with rakes and a gas blower after the grinding. Extremely professional and prompt. Can't recommend them highly enough! read more

The crew was professional and amazingly efficient. 2 years ago, they did an exemplary job removing a 36" diameter sycamore in front of my house. With both jobs, they removed all debris and left absolutely no evidence that they were here at all. Office staff was friendly and helpful. Louie was attentive on the phone. Unfortunately, as we didn't know the proper tree-trimming jargon, when we asked to have our tree reduced by 30% so it wouldn't shade our solar panels, it was interpreted as thinning out the tree rather than shortening it. When we called to ask them to come back and correct the problem, Louie was polite and listened. I also pointed out to him, in a very nice way, that his crew was not attentive to dragging the debris through my yard and scratched my gate and damaged some plants. I did not ask for a refund for that, or any repairs to be done....just wanted him to ask his crew to be pay attention in the future to someone's home that they spent a lot of time making nice. He seemed agreeable that it was, as he said, a teaching moment for his crew. But when he came back with the crew to reduce the tree more, he was rude and accusatory and very upsetting to us. It was like he had a prejudice against us or a chip on his shoulder about something because he was angry and rude for apparently no reason when he arrived. We hired them to trim some dead and crossing branches off a massive live oak, and lift the canopy off some adjoining structures (fences, neighboring garages). We also had them remove a couple of melaleuca trees that didn't survive the drought. After inspecting the job and submitting a bid, they scheduled a time for a few weeks out. On the day of the appointment, they brought a crew of seven that worked efficiently all afternoon, and did a really impeccable job of removing the debris, down to the leaf.
