Came for Sunday Brunch hosted by Chef Vivek (VEA supper club) and the food was so delicious!! The flavors were unique and palatable. Must have the Champagne punch (we loved them, ended up getting three rounds:)). Also must try the Banana buckwheat bread, masala egg toast and savory porridge! Well, wow. Limited bar, but what they do, they do well. Let's talk about the menu. I sat at the bar, and the service was on point. I had the "local lettuces" and damn that was a salad to call home about. Seriously, when you want something to start the meal but you don't want to get full, this is the deal. I followed that with the braised short ribs, and they were as good as any I've had. If you're iffy, go there. Bottom line, awesome vibe! Sit at the bar and watch these masters work. My boyfriend and I live in the neighborhood and decided to try out the Treehouse based on their good reviews on yelp. I was pretty disappointed. We ordered the beef tartar and a lamb pasta dish. The tartar overly seasoned (way too salty) and the pasta was entirely undercooked. I also had to send my drink back as it wasn't mixed properly. The service was good and my server was very friendly. I will start by saying I've never seen a have "the beast" on the menu. I thought that was just a bear that poor college students bought. The bar itself isn't much in the front but the actual treehouse in the back was a really cool setting to have a drink, and not that this had anything to do with the bar but we met some pretty cool people while we were there. A mixed review -- the food was amazing, but the ambience (family-style table), noise-level (loud to point of madness), and more importantly, unanticipated wait (1 hour on a Friday night -- when told 30 minutes) was unfortunate. My wife will forever crave the sunchokes; and I loved the agnolotti component of the octopus dish and beef tartare (creatively tasting of tacos, despite being raw (and delicious)) -- but the overall experience mitigated these highlights. I haven't eaten here but as a fun place to grab a drink and impress an out of town visitor, The Treehouse has just what you need. I'd been meaning to check it out for months but the parking situation on Clearview depressed and overwhelmed me so I always talked myself out of it. And then someone would mention the patio/treehouse and I'd get riled up about going over again. So, it came to pass on a surprisingly warm fall evening (thanks, climate change!) that I had a friend in town and a need to impress with a good place for cocktails in a fun setting. It was finally Treehouse time. I knew it was meant to be as we found parking on Clearview. It was my time. We walked past the friendly hostess and headed straight to the crown jewel in the back. It didn't disappoint. Although I am from Kentucky, I didn't start drinking as a child. Had i done so, though, I imagine that my backyard bar would have looked similar to this. The setting dictates the energy and puts you in a good mood. This is a brilliant business move for a bar. Seeing that I was in a playful frame of mind, I had my first kalimotxo. I don't know who thought to mix red wine and coke but sir/madam, I salute you. I doesn't sound like it makes sense but it does. It really truly does. It might have made too good of sense, as I found myself drinking them in lieu of water. Oh well. red wine's good for you, right? The weather is teasing a return of spring time temps. It's safe to come out of hibernation and return to outdoor drinking at The Treehouse. An added bonus: the restaurant has a new chef. I think, upon my next visit, I'll add a food element to my daily dose of drinking. But, yeah: that backyard is everything you've heard of. Like many of us on the East Side, I had long awaited the opening of The Treehouse. I watched the local artisan-crafted furniture and tableware arriving, saw menu teasers, and spied on the construction over the fence on my way to 5 spot dancing. After my first visit, The Treehouse certainly did not disappoint! My friend and I were lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar so we could watch everything that was going on in the open kitchen. (Note to whomever those girls were watching said kitchen by pressing their faces to the stained glass window from the patio: the bar is how you do it. Your way was creepy.) I started with a glass of cava and a high-grav for my beer only companion. The drink list and wine selection was well thought out and featured several great choices that won't break the bank. We had several dishes, all delicious,but the tiradito was definitely my favorite. The flavors popped and the presentation was stunning. We ran out of appetite before we ran out of dishes we wanted to try so we will definitely be returning. I would recommend The Treehouse to anyone who wants to stay in the Points (because, let's face it, who ever wants to cross the river?), and have a great meal, or share a small dish and a bottle of wine with friends. read more

It's a shame I can't give this place more stars, as I had heard favorable things about it. Sadly, the only wow factor is that you are eating in a treehouse. The food isn't bad but nothing to sing about either. I also feel like if you are going to take the direction of not allowing any food substitutions/omissions, you can also make sure all ingredients are listed on the menu (a friend who is allergic to pumpkin seeds noticed them in her salad while they were not listed in the menu :/) The menu is overall good but nothing really I would go back for. The hipster-too-cool-for-school attitude coming off the staff is a real turnoff as well. If they were nice it'd be one thing. We didn't get that from our server Chadley. Yes, Chadley. Not Chad. So disappointing. We'd avoided Treehouse despite the fun sound of it specifically because the reviews were not great. New chef in, reviews became quite positive - we were intrigued. Post-meal, I'm left with the impression that places with strong Vegan and Gluten Free options are highly overrated on yelp for the rest of us. I'm the rest of us. We came here on a Saturday for dinner following some great drinks and a little meat and cheese board at Bar Luca. The place is fun - a little winding inside, colorful wooden plans, lots of treehouse-y secret passage feeling, an extra bar in the back and a heated covered porch where we sat. Waiter was cool - we got our waters, I put in my beer order and ordered the Lobster Tagliatelle pasta, the date got the lamb belly. We were asked if we wanted any starters...I saw only a bread loaf for $5 on the starter list but he suggested a tartare or salad. The truth is that I'd assumed only the $5 bread was a starter based on pricing and we'd just spent a lovely hour smearing goat cheese and balsamic figs and spicy tyhme onion relish on a nice little hot baguette. I'm a carb girl, but bread n butter can't compare to bread and accoutrements. We passed on the starters - the prices were so not there for what I'd consider a starter. You can have high options, but the start price should be $7, not $14. It's okay - Beer was my appetizer and give this girl a Green Flash she's pretty happy. A totally reasonable wait time and out came our meals. Cute little presentation of lobster emulsion over my noodles and we dug in... My tastebuds exploded. Salt. Dear salty salt of the earth I'd took a chug of the ocean. I was confused. I mixed the pasta around - clearly this a mix issue. I tried another noodle. One flavor: salt. I pushed the bowl back. I ran a half marathon this morning. I'd not snacked hard all day, we'd limited ourselves to a pair of meats and 1 cheese at Bar Luca so we could enjoy our dinner. I was freaking hungry and this small bowl of noodles sat in front of me taunting me to suck it up and eat it. No way. I've eaten out a lot and had many varying degrees of good and bad meals. I specifically alter my expectations based on pricing and dress code to what level of fancy / homecooking / etc. I'm expecting and I've sent back exactly 3 meals ever. This would be number three. I stopped eating. I asked the husband to confirm - by this point he was roughly done with the lamb belly. The teeny little disc of meat and chunk of grilled veg was not going to be even half enough for this Ironman-training carnivore I knew already I kind of dreaded our bill. He "tested" another mouthful...because frankly he just needed more carbs. Salt. No question. It took us a few tries to flag down the waiter then, I asked to replace the dish with procini mushroom soup and explained that there seemed to be an over-reduction of the emulsion and it was far too salty. I cook up a storm just for the husband and me and I wouldn't have fed that to just us. My mushroom soup came out in no time flat and it was really delicious. The husband's chocolate souffle and peanut anglaise sauce came out simultaneously so while I'd sat there being the awkward bad customer in the 3 minutes of his main meal, we shared dinner/desserts together. Mid mouthful of chocolate he agreed that my soup was the best meal all night. When the carnivore destroys a bit of lamb belly and is face-full of chocolate souffle there is no rational reason a spoonful of cream of mushroom soup should be his favorite dish unless all the other dishes were super mediocre. So: 1 great dish out of 4. Me feeling even more awkward when we get the bill and I'm labeled like a bad kid "No Like" (No like? I'm slightly miffed - more like "No way we should have served this"). Then I wake up in the middle of the night starving because the portions are way too small for the price and I see no reason I should need a $14 starter and a $17 meal to get me to reasonably full. On the way out I overhear someone bragging up their Celiac disease and decide it then: I had a small bad meal and a bad experience that I paid way too much for based on gluten free and vegan reviewers. Please stop giving good stars to places that are super mediocre and overpriced. This is not the food scene I support. I feel lead on by reviews that were based on totally altered expectations of what makes a good meal and portion sizes that use the Gluten-Free-as-a-diet excuse. read more

Disappointed to have to write this review as the food (minus a few misses) is really quite good. However, the service and operations at Treehouse need a lot of help. Had a 4 person 8 o'clock reservation, waited half an hour (after being told our table was almost ready for us) only to be seated at the bar. A 2 couple dinner doesn't really work at a horizontal bar, to say the least. Insult to injury, we had to ask for our first round of drinks to be comped, something that should have certainly been offered after getting off on such a rocky start. The night only got worse from there. Our server was nonexistent and anytime we were able to flag her down I truly felt like I was horribly inconveniencing her. Come on guys, it's one of the tiniest restaurants I've ever been in, it shouldn't be this hard to get the service down. Our bills came, we paid and then were presented with a higher bill with no explanation as to why. We were never asked how we wanted things split and at that point had had enough and just wanted to leave. We expressed our disappointment multiple times, yet were never offered anything to make it up to us. And those comped drinks? No clue whether they were comped as the second bill we received mysteriously didn't include a detailed list. Great concept, great food. Really hope they're able to get their act together soon otherwise we sadly won't be returning. read more

Our group of 5 ate here last night. We arrived at 7.00pm with no rezzie - hence a 40 min wait, the hostess was very attentive offering outside drinking and waiting under the heater or loitering at the bar, we opted to go somewhere else for 40 mins until she called us. The interior is quite lovely and rustic with community seating hence the wait, lots of couples sharing a table, it is a small space. I have to agree with Mark G the dining space is too noisy and coupled with the music at that extreme volume made me feel stressed wishing to be anywhere but there. I just was not sure if I was in a bar or a restaurant. Our server was attentive at just the right level, we did not feel neglected or over fussed. No pretension which was cool. Fry Bread $8 with Salmon Mousse - light, tasty and the portion had 5 pieces and yes one of us who shall remain nameless licked the plate. Carrots -$11 Mole, soybean, red onion, cheese, sesame - delicious, we wanted more Kale and Quinoa $10 with citrus and almonds - tasty and fresh Ceviche $14 - fish was "not cooked", need more time to turn, yuca was soggy. No spice and very dull limey taste. No one fought over this one. Empanadas $10 - two large ones - pastry cooked well but lacked seasoning, they could have been great. Fish and Chips $12 - Just OK, this just did not need to be on the menu and felt out of place. Prawns$19 - massive prawns in a tasty sauce, black bean fritter was more of a mush. We skipped desserts as this music was really grating by now and a nervous breakdown was imminent. 7 House cocktails around $10 and some high gravity draughts, drews brews and teas from the High Garden. All in all I think this will turn into a nice spot. We were not asked for any feedback on the food but I do believe it is important, some dishes may need refining, the cocktails were OK but did not really pack a punch. We left feeling this was a cross between the Wild Cow and Cityhouse, Open until 1.00am ....about 6 seats barside. read more

I had a delightful meal here on my recent visit to Nashville. We had a group of 7 and needed a place that served vegetarian fare (although it turned out we really didn't need a vegetarian place) and food for meat eaters. We were able to snag a reservation since we had a larger group. The place is located in this cute little house (emphasis on little). We were there fairly early in the evening so it was not busy when we arrived, but quickly filled up to capacity. Our group decided to order and share a bunch of dishes. I think that we ordered almost everything on the menu. Some of the highlights of my meal: Home Fries - yes, you would think that these would be boring, but they are served with this really good crema sauce. I couldn't stop eating them when they were sitting on the table in front of me. I may have eaten way more than my fair share. Shh. Plantains - the plantains were served with black beans, crema sauce, and hot sauce. They called the hot sauce 'fu*kin hot sauce'. It was not so hot. I couldn't really detect any kick in the dish. The plantains were still good though. th queso - this is cheese queso served in an acorn squash bowl with some toast. I didn't get to try any of the actual queso, but I did devour the acorn squash. It was good with the remnants of the cheese. Turnips - an entree featuring turnips. I did not have high hopes for this dish, but was pleasantly surprised. The turnips were cut and seared to look like scallops. They were served on a bowl of some sort of noodles and also had mushrooms. Three sisters salad - this salad was my favorite dish of the evening. It's filled with squash, corn, black eyed peas and cottage cheese. None of these things really appeal to me separately. Together they are pretty spectacular. We had more dishes, but my poor brain can't remember any of the other dishes right now. The meal was extremely reasonable. We split the food between the 7 of us and it only totaled like $12. Went there last night after slumming it at 3 Crow. Want to munch on some foods and found The Treehouse to be the perfect combination of late-night eats and relaxed atmosphere. Not so high end that you can't bust out a good laugh, but high end enough that the guy next to me ordering a Coors Light had to pick a better high-gravity beer. Also, the other guy next to me was unable to procure a Vodka+Red Bull. Suck it. Anyway, I digress. Service was superb and attentive, Mariel made great suggestions on what to order. We had a fry bread (daily special) with apple butter, onion, grilled romaine. We had a pickle plate with some of the most delicious kim-chi I've had outside of K-Town in Los Angeles... Really thick cut of pickled cabbage. Cocktails were pricy but smart and well-made. I would recommend STARTING your night at The Treehouse with one of these so you can enjoy the taste and not get over-boozed like my classy lady friend accomplished. read more

I went back to give this place a second chance after a disappointing first experience. I ordered a $10 margarita that was, no joke, the size of a shot and a half in a tiny glass. $10!!! We laughed we when saw it thinking it was a joke. Another friend ordered a cocktail (corpse something) and there was once again no liquor in it. Waste of money. I'm giving this two stars because the food was delicious, just overpriced and small portions. They will tell you it's all meant to be shared, but the queso had only 2 bread chips. SO BAD WE CAME HOME AND MADE TOAST. Wanted to go to Holland House for their delightful happy hour, but it was Wednesday, and they only do that TH-SA. Treehouse came highly recommended from a roommate who is the biggest foodie I've ever met. The waiter was the epitome of worthless as far as servers go. Beyond insolent. Normally when a place is slow three hours before closing a party of nine walking in is a cause for celebration, but these folks looked at us like we were crashing their parade. Automatically including gratuity is a double edged sword, and this guy knew he was getting his 20% so he didn't try at all. - When asked if the $10 "cheese-fries" could be made without cheese for the two vegans the response was a flippant "that's what we have" while pointing at the late night menu. Really? Can't make just fries? The place wasn't even busy at all. - Its a major bummer when several people get excited about Chicken Thighs with Fingerling Potatoes and then upon ordering the server informs you that they may not have any chicken left, and if they do its just one. You gotta tell people this stuff right when they sit down. Thats serving 101. -Okra was undercooked, if at all. We're in the south, don't put okra on the menu if you can't hold up your end of the bargain. - Fish cakes were utterly underwhelming for $12. I don't know how much fish costs in TN these days, but these portions were way too small. - We were overcharged on our drinks too. How does a $6 shot of whiskey become a $10 Old Fashioned? They added ice and a lemon peel for $4? - I had to track the guy down to get our checks. Always frustrating. + The bite of Chicken Thighs that our friend shared with us was really tasty. Shame they didn't have more to go around. +They did keep plenty of water coming. +The space is really cool, and could maybe be something better, but not unless they fire everyone and get quality food. All in all I will never be coming back here for any reason. Ever. Period. If Lord Obama asks me to dinner at The Treehouse I will have to politely decline. Alright, people. It's pretty good. First things first: the menu has taste, and there aren't many restaurants in Nashville that truly compare. It's one of the few east side restaurants that serve a full menu late night - 12:30 on weekdays, 2:30 on Fridays & Saturdays. They have Green Flash beers on tap. The IPA is one of my favorites, and I'm pretty sure this was the first time I've found it on tap (at a place that doesn't have 50+ beers) in Nashville. It was $5 - right price. I ordered the black bean empanadas. Very filling. Crema was pretty good. Treehouse hot sauce was great. $10. The food is slightly overpriced and the service was slow. But they're new and it will probably get better. They claim the back area will eventually have a treehouse that can be utilized, but for now, it's just for show. read more

But so many things wrong with it: -blaring music (I mean blaring) that keeps you from having basic conversation -tiny overpriced cocktails -menus that seem purposefully obtuse (no division between appetizers and entrees, private abbreviations that you're supposed to guess the meaning of, dishes like beef heart that don't have the words "beef heart" anywhere in the description -food that takes way too long to arrive, even though it wasn't a busy night -a server who did not seem to care at all The Treehouse represents the apex of the worst aspects of hipster culture. I have been wanting to try this place for a while. My girlfriend and I decided to go there for dinner last week. The inside of this place was pretty small but had a nice vibe to it. We opted for the outside... The Treehouse portion. Really cool setup - rustic looking with multiple covered areas to sit. It was chilly the night we went and they had a large propane heater out there; my lady loved that. We both ordered a glass of wine, the warm olives for an appetizer, I ordered round steak as my entree and she got the scallops. The olive app was unique... There were a ton of them. A few nuts were mixed in - definitely could have used more nuts to even out the olive to nut ratio. Unless you absolutely love olives, I wouldn't recommend this. The entrees are what killed my review. My steak was almost all fat. I'm always a member of the clean plate club and I only ate half of this. With that, the flavor wasn't good at all. Beans were served on the side. They were ice cold and tasted like someone dumped them out of a can and put a little extra seasoning on them. My lady's scallops were cold as well. It came with 3 medium sized scallops and a couple small pieces of fried bread of some sort. The dish looked like a plate for ants. Just overall, it wasn't a well put together meal. Our sever was good and the look of this place was pretty cool. Only reason I am giving 2 stars. Wine isn't cheap... No house wines so the cheapest thing you are going to get is an $8/ glass drink. I'm no stranger to nice restaurants. If I'm paying $80+, then I want to leave with an above average food experience and great service. I left with one of these but the food itself was awful. Ok, so we spent like an hour looking online for somewhere local to have dinner. Nashville loves fast food and hamburgers. Well we arrived at 5:30 and place doesn't open till 6:00 and there was already a dozen people waiting, It must be worth the wait ? right ? All I can say is the food is over the top as far as taste and presentation .The waitress was very nice and tried to explain the menu and how to order. She says order a few main courses and spit them up family style. We started with shrimp cocktail, was ok, not the best shrimp I've ever had, not very crisp but worked. Well the main courses are just sampler platers for two people. no soup, salad, nothing. we ordered the tomato salad, very tasty, maybe a dozen small tomato's for $12 ( $1 a piece for baby tomato's ) but they taste amazing and very well presented. next we got the beef tartare , 1st time for me ( $16 for a 4 inch by 1/2 piece)and some pita pocket bread, again taste great. finally we got the spaghetti and meatballs, ( $18 for a few spoonful's each) and maybe 6 meatballs ? again it taste great and nice presentation. we spent over $100 for a tasting, and left with zero leftovers and had snacks later on in the night. buy yet there was people out the door, place was busy and the kitchen was slamming. they get an AAA for effort, taste and presentation, but $18 for pasta, I don't get it ? read more

This place was cute and comforting. If you want a midwest backyard, what you see in the movies type atmosphere, this place is it. If I came here on a date it would be pretty romantic...yeah..that's it.. The lights, the benches, the old world charm. The food is definitely special here. Things seemed very fresh, organic and as the waiter said things aren't wasted so they do their best to use everything they can to eliminate waste. Wow, wow, wow. Chef Jason nailed it. We reserved the "treehouse" for 7 - they tell you 10 can fit but boy would it be tight. We left it up to the chef to bring us out his specialties and it was so delicious! My favorites were the carrots - yep, just plain carrots. They were slightly al dente but caramelized. So refreshing. My other favorite was the Gnudi - little balls of puffy perfection. And finally the chicken - so moist and succulent. They really let the ingredients shine here. Highly recommended. read more

oh how we wanted to love this place :( The good - the building is adorable. Great vibe. The bad - the food. Sigh. I must point out that everything we ate is no longer on the menu. Guess we weren't the only ones who felt this way... Started with a turnip/parsnip/carrot app in hoisin sauce. Or should I say "swimming" in hoisin sauce. I love fall veggies, but half of the veggies in the dish weren't even cooked all the way and still hard... Waitress recommended the fried calamari po'boy type thing...the calamari was so over fried, the bread was not fresh and there was hardly any mayo (or whatever it was) on it so it made it even more dry. For the bigger dishes we did a veal (I think it was veal, it was a fatty piece of meat that was cut like bacon) flat bread. It could have been good but was not put together well at all. It was one big piece of flat bread that wasn't cut up in pieces so it made it very difficult to eat and to pull apart the meat. It was very salty but had a bit of a kick and interesting flavor. Interesting actually should be reserved for the meat balls, our next entree. The waitress did a good job of explaining they were made with beef jerky (no joke) so expect a different type of flavor. My husband didn't like them but I thought they were interesting and fun, definitely not the normal type of meatball. But they came in a bowl of 4 big balls and nothing to accompany it. We shared everything so if someone would have ordered that as their entrée alone they would have been very disappointed. We could only eat 1 each as the flavor was pretty strong. We love to eat and always finish our plates when we eat out, this was one of the first times we both left lots of food leftover and didn't want to take it home. I am so glad they change their menu constantly and hope they find something that works. read more

Three friends and I ventured into the unknown and enjoyed the Treehouse this past Saturday evening. Starting off, can I just say how impressed I am with the number of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free items that grace the entire menu. Seriously, it's impressive. First, the Treehouse only accepts reservations for parties of 4 or more - which I did not understand until I went inside. The Treehouse - without its patio (until the weather gets nicer) - is a relatively small place. The seating is a mixture of tables for you and your party only, then community tables for about 8 people. There are not very many people that can fit inside the joint - now I get it. So, find at least 3 close friends, and make yourself some reservations. Our party started with home fries, olives and plantains with jalapeños, beans, and some other wholesome goodness that has slipped my mind. Anyhow, it was fantastic -- all of it. The tomato mint crema with the home fries was delish. Second course, there may or may not have been some frito pies gracing our table. I don't know what I loved more the fritos, the chile colorado's spicy awesome, or the crema. (Hint: FRITOS!!!) Additionally, we went vegetarian with the th queso - it is acorn squash packed with queso. The only unhappy face... they were out of the pork belly. Apparently, the pork belly is very popular and they had run out. This made me sad enough that I had to order a stiffer drink. Hurray! Third course time! The fish of the evening was a grouper served atop jalapeño cheese grits. I couldn't tell you about the fish, as I was too lost in the cheesy spicy wonderful of jalapeño cheese grits. Nom, nom, nom... I love jalapeños. I love grits. I love cheese. The Treehouse combined them together! Hurray! Other folks enjoyed perfectly cooked scallops with potatoes and chilean chimicurri, and another enjoyed a kale, goat cheese, and chorizo salad. I've got nothing creative to say to close out. First off, I would give the Treehouse 5 stars, but we had to sit in their "heated" outdoor patio which was hardly heated at all. I usually don't mind stuff like this, but it was freezing outside. They definitely should consider better outdoor heat options. I actually had low expectations for the food, because it's Yelp score is very mediocre; however, I ended up VERY impressed. I was with a group of people, and we ordered a lot of food and split everything. We tried the cheese plate, baby lettuces, roasted beets, baby carrots, Singapore soup dumplings, mushroom noodles, Szechuan lamb, and short rib cannelloni. Every dish was impeccable, in my opinion. I know everyone else I was with really loved it, too. It was definitely one of my favorite meals I've had in Nashville during my 5 years of living here. Supposedly, the menu changes weekly. I assume that is the reason behind the mixed reviews? Maybe some of the menus are hit-or-miss. Regardless, my experience was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

After an evening event at the Nashville Zoo, we wanted to find a nice dinner to finish off the night. In an effort to get out of the downtown tourist trap, I moved my Yelp search to the east part of town. I had heard a lot about the up and coming Five Points neighborhood, so there I began my search for gluten-free dining. A few options came up, and upon further investigation into other gluten-free review websites, I thought the Treehouse would be a nice fit. A few people had some positive experiences, let's give it a try! We found it easily enough. It was a cute building with a lot of decking around the outside. Rough sawn wood, trees through the decking, quaint string lights, and very hard benches. We were given our menus and drinks orders were taken right away. As always, I asked the hostess when we walked up if there was a gluten free menu. She stated that our waiter should be able to help us. We decided we wanted to order a few different plates and share since it was just after 10:00 and we were given the late-night menu with only small plate options. When inquiring with the waiter which items would be gluten-free, he mentioned only two, the Goat Rice and the Steak & Eggs. So we ordered both of those and one other dish for my gluten-loving husband, the Chicken Hearts with Spicy Cashew Cream. His dish came out first, about 20 minutes after we placed the order. He enjoyed quick enough. We assumed the next dishes should be right out. Nope. Our waiter spent a lot of time chatting with a table full of girls, and walked quickly past us each time. We ended up getting the attention of another waiter to find out why it was taking so long. It had been about 45 minutes since our first dish was brought out. Around 11:50 pm, our other two dishes arrived from the kitchen. To start with, they did not look as appetizing as the plates that were delivered to our neighboring tables, but we were starving. I started on the Goat Rice dish, described on the menu as BBQ Goat, Pigeon Peas, Rice, and Summer Salad. I picked at the goat, which was tender and had a good flavor. The salad had a fruit which I have an odd allergy to so I didn't eat too much of it. What I didn't like about the dish, other than waiting so long for it, was there were small crunchy bits mixed in. My biggest concern was that these were toasted bread crumbs that were not disclosed (I have celiac, this is a BIG deal to me). We quickly checked with the waiter and he confirmed they were merely bacon crumbles. The other dish of Steak & Eggs was described as Skirt Steak with 2 Fried Eggs, Potatoes, Ranchero Salsa, and Crema. It took my husband a few minutes, but he recognized the protein wasn't skirt steak, it eye round subbed in it's place. We both found it to be tough. He enjoyed the salsa and potatoes. Luckily, he had had another dish, so he wasn't leaving hungry. The Treehouse - Food - New American Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

My wife and I went to Treehouse on Wednesday night around 6:00 for dinner. There were plenty of tables. The environment was really well done, great atmosphere and vibe. We did notice when we sat down that it was quite a bit colder than when we were standing, but they actually had a blanket sitting right on the bench which my wife used, so no harm done. (I guess it is not too surprising when your heat ducts are in the ceiling. It might be worthwhile to install a ceiling fan to help circulate that heat a little bit more.) The waitstaff was great, very attentive and informative, but not overbearing. We also appreciated being able to see into the kitchen. It was a very inviting atmosphere. I will say getting there at 6:00 may have been to our advantage, because we didn't run into any of the issues others have complained about (long waits, tight seating with people you don't know, etc.). I can only say that we had a great experience. The drink menu was interesting. I appreciated that they had creative cocktails for those in that mood, but also had a small draft selection with a beer I could drink everyday (green flash IPA) and a couple of limited edition selections. I had the Carolina Brewery Super Saaz which is an imperial pilsner made with Saaz hops. Crisp with a little bit of citrus and a sweet, dry finish. My wife had the Green Flash IPA. Drafts were between $6-8, although the servings were a bit small (10oz pours). The food was really fantastic. We got the Fry Bread to start, which is basically a flatbread lightly fried with a delicious, somewhat bitter coleslaw (arugula) and a crema sauce that balances it out really well. Loved it. Next, we got Fideo. This soup was fantastic! Basically think Tom-Yum soup meets French Onion soup. There was a ton of sweet onion flavor, but also a nice cilantro kick, a little bit of spice, and a lot of mushroom. The egg was a great final touch. Finally, we ordered Pork Shank which was tender and fatty, the meat pulled right apart, and came with a delicious side of cabbage and Russian dressing. The rye toast on the side was actually a little bit disappointing (thin and burnt). The pork shank was quite big and perfect for sharing, but would probably be a bit much for one person (it actually got a little bit boring even when sharing). Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and had plenty of food with just those three items. People have compared the servings to "tapas", but the servings are actually much larger than your typical tapa. The atmosphere is perfect for a nice date: not pretentious, won't break the bank, but also fantastic food. I went back and forth between four and five stars on the rating. I think I am a bigger fan of Rolf and Daughters, Husk, and Etch overall. But, Treehouse is more approachable both in terms of the price and flavors, so I am going with 5 stars. read more

I feel like The Treehouse competes well in it's niche; Hip environment, limited but comprehensive menu, and a good bar. It succeeded in all of these for my wife and I but I'm not sure how much I could return within a year. The service was friendly with just enough hipster-cred to make you feel cool without fighting for it. If you understand that last statement, you live in East Nashville and don't drive a scooter to work. It can be hard for normies to enjoy themselves without feeling like a dumb tourist. The Treehouse did this and it was fun. We really enjoyed everything we ordered to eat. The menu was small but thankfully our confidence increased with every new item that hit the table. We met another couple and they seemed to register the same experience. The cocktails were well crafted and creative. They're not lush-tubs though and I was somewhat surprised to see bartenders pouring "classicly measured pours". Tasty, but reserved in size. If this outs me as a drunk, then so be it. Another surprise: it didn't break the bank. The experience was nice, we were able to take our time and enjoy our evening out, and everything they brought was pleasant. All this at what I would guess would have cost another $20 total at a competing establishment. Doesn't sound like much, but a value is a value, even with that curled mustache I'm growing out. I've been meaning to post this for awhile, so this item may not be available anymore....which means this restaurant is continuously brainstorming new dishes to serve to patrons. How cool right?! Pictured was ramen as part of the late-night menu. And, let me tell you, WOW. So much flavor! My only pitfall was that when I was frequenting this late-night aspect of their business, services was slower than expected but, there could be many factors to this and I'm not one to cause an issue over this. SALTYYYYYYY!! I am not salt sensitive. I love salty foods but this was overboard.... Best thing was the octopus, which was nicely grilled and smoky. Everything had good flavor but dressing/broth on tomato salad, raw oysters (not very fresh either. it had salt and vinegar on it), the block of blood sausage, and crust on duck buns entree all just tasted like pure salt and almost inedible... This small restaurant is always so unexpectedly delicious! Come ready to share, as this is the best way to do here. My friends and I love sharing plates! Group of 7? No problem. Just make sure you make a reso! Small, seasonal, rotating menu. It changes often. We ordered damn near everything on the menu. We did the mushroom pierogis, ricotta dumplings, roasted carrots with truffle puree, huge shrimp, beef tartare, mackeral, and hangar steak with onion rings and mashed potatoes. I think I got all the foods. EVERYTHING was so fresh, inventive, and beautiful. So many complimentary flavors. The mushroom pierogis were stuffed so full with mushroom goodness. Outside crust was fried perfectly. A little bit of green bitter leaves to wash it down. Drizzled on the late was an uni emulsion. DAMN. Ricotta dumplings were steamed and stuffed with creamy goodness. Surprisingly light, buttery, and topped with a leek. The carrots were small and multi-colored. This plate's star was the truffle puree with sliced green olives complimenting visually and palate-wise. I can't eat shrimp, but my friends said the shrimp was so good it could be lobster. Beef tartare was a bigger helping than expected and was light. Served with cracker like bread. Great flavor. The fish was so tender and flakey. The asian greens on the side a perfect pairing. And lastly the steak was easily one of the best steaks I have eaten in Nashville. Not the best cut of meat, but cooked and seasoned to perfection. We did save room for dessert! Our table split the banana toffee with rum raisin ice cream and crumbs, chocolate souffle, and peach something or other. I honestly am having a hard time remembering, ha! All were so good and very different. The peach one was a palate cleanser and light. The soufflé had chocolate molten goodness inside with vanilla ice cream. The banana toffee one was my favorite and had me making noises with every bite because it was so delicious. Whew! You need to go try it. We were spending the night in Nashville on our way back from New Orleans to Chicago. By the time we reached Nashville, it was about 9.45 p.m. I didn't have much hopes of finding a vegetarian friendly place that would be open after 10 pm. But I was pleasantly surprised to find The Treehouse which was not only open but also had great vegetarian options. I ordered the quinoa bowl which had this really creamy spicy mayo/aioli that was so delicious. The service was really good too. I wish it wasn't raining that day, because the back porch seating looked so inviting! I am definitely coming back here if I find myself in Nashville again. read more
