My wife and I stayed here for our 10-year wedding anniversary. She had visited previously with her family on several occasions. Overall, we had a pleasant experience with no major issues. However, the room felt somewhat outdated compared to modern hotel standards. It's worth noting that the hotel does not offer valet service. The location is excellent, it's within walking distance to many attractions in Fredericksburg. We were able to explore the area comfortably on foot. It was mostly quiet during our stay, and while the bedding was just okay, it was still comfortable. We didn't encounter any of the staff issues mentioned in other reviews. Bathroom was ok and so were the little toiletries they give for guests to use. The bedding and pillows were not comfortable at all. Pillows were very small and thin. Not sure the size but this bed felt like a full size. Bedspread was horribly itchy and material and design were extremely outdated. No charging ports were available. If this was a room that was under $150, yes; it's worth it. We paid $297 exactly for one night and felt it was not worth the cost. read more

It is a short walk to Main Street. We only stayed for a night, but were very happy. Parking is plentiful and free. Check in and check out were fast. Our room was on the second floor. Room: Clean. pretty big with a separate sitting area. The bed was comfortable. My room ha e a microwave and fridge. It also had a coffee and tea station, but it was odd that it was in the restroom considering all the space they have in the sitting area or by the microwave. Bathroom: Big with lots of counter space. Toiletries included soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. They also have a hair dryer. Breakfast: continental style. I didn't get to try it out since it was a madhouse in there. read more

I've stayed here in the past and found it to be a clean, comfortable hotel convenient to downtown...but things have changed. This stay was for a conference. My room smelled smoky/musty and the A/C was sketchy. The biggest negative was the discourtesy of the staff. They bent over backward to be polite to a male coworker and allowed him a late check out. Minutes later, they denied me the same request and were quite petty, telling me I had plenty of time to check out. I'm partially disabled and walk with a limp. He is not. Very disappointing. There are many other hotels, VRBOs, cabins, and B&B's in Fredericksburg--Stay elsewhere. read more

Even though the rooms are a little "dated" and look like they could be part of another "The Hills Have Eyes" film, they met my expectations as far as comfort. The beds were not like my pillowtop king at home, but I still slept like a newborn baby. My room was clean and the smell of disinfectant was lingering by the time I arrived. I was here for a conference for work, so the staff was helpful, but appeared to be very busy during my stay. I was tickled pink that HBO was offered on all the TVs.....well except for mine, but I was too busy to mention it to the staff, but it was still a bummer. It would've been awesome to catch "La La Land " that one Thursday night. Housekeeping must be late risers, I don't think my room was ever cleaned BEFORE 11 AM....that's uhhh...different. The hotel is in a great location in walking distance to the town, and that's the only thing to like about it. We stayed in a Queen suite. The room was clean, but the refrigerator was noisy and didn't cool. The hair dryer didn't work, and the bathroom wallpaper has moisture damage. I I logged in with their wi-fi and got hacked within 10 minutes. We did not receive room service after the first night. The breakfast service was ok. I recommend the make-your-own waffles. Fluffy and thick. The "scrambled" eggs were not that, they were diced and cold. Fresh biscuits and gravy were available. For what we had to pay, it should have been better quality and service. read more

Spent the day in Fredericksburg celebrating our 31st anniversary with the intention of driving to Dripping Springs at the end of it. Well wouldn't you know, they have a lot of great wine tasting rooms there and restaurants. By the end of the night, we figured it would be best to find a hotel and oh did we luck into a beautiful one ! We stumbled in tired and happy, they were able to accommodate us! The suite was spacious with its own sitting area and large king bed. This may sound strange but the room smelled fresh, some hotels have a funky musty smell but this one was pleasant. The bed was very comfortable. They had a great hot self serve breakfast, just like the old days pre-Covid. No breakfast in a bag here! The grounds of this hotel are gorgeous and peaceful, with tables outside to enjoy your morning coffee without being disturbed. The second part of my review deals with now we were supposed to have stayed the night here two days prior but had to canceled at the last minute because of a storm that had blown in and made us cut our travels short. They were concerned and understanding about our last minute change of plans. I was going to review them at that time stating that "this was the best hotel I have never stayed at". However I am glad I did get a chance to stay here. It will become our destination place for future vacations. read more

I've never seen that before in this size hotel. Minus: no complementary toothpaste/toothbrush. Sold at gift shop for $2 each. Don't know why they had fans on the first floor on both days of my stay. This property has good and bad qualities, and ultimately the comfort brought it down to a 3. The Inn has a fantastic location, and a third party shuttle service onsite for the wineries. Everything downtown is walkable and convenient. The property is original and little updates have been done. Honestly, this mostly adds to its charm. The woodwork is unique and beautiful, and the bathroom was a newer style. The issue is the cheapness and lack of comfort. Our king room was spacious and could be a 4-4.5 star spot if management wasn't so cheap providing Motel amenities. The towels are like SANDPAPER. A bath towel doesn't fit around your body and every towel and cloth is so rough and cheap, you feel like you're at a roadside motel and miserable. The linens are the same. The coverlet was a 1970s rough and tough character that was NOT clean. No one wants to see stains. Toss it! The linens were cheap, scratchy and uncomfortable as were the pillows. I was horrified to see no mattress protector on the mattress itself and closed my eyes so tight at the stains on the side on the mattress where the sheet was coming up. While this property does provide breakfast-it's garbage. Inedible. Powdered mass produced eggs are expected at a place like this, but everything served was cheap, flavorless, overcooked and unfulfilling. Terrible coffee almost knocked them down to a two. Fredericksburg charges a premium-the Inn has a goldmine at its fingertips with location. Step it up! read more

For the most part; we enjoyed our stay at the Inn On Barons Creek. Arriving Friday for two nights; we found the front desk lady a bit gruff. That is quite possibly because of our early arrival. A few hopeful minutes later we had our room way before the actual check in time. We got a great room all the way at the end of a second floor hallway! A spacious bath with a jacuzzi tub adorned the bathroom. Next, the living area with dorm fridge, loveseat, desk, and HDTV. Inside the bedroom overlooking the creek a king bed and other HDTV. Only complaint for the room was dated bed linens. The pool slash hot tub was nice except for the tiny towels to dry off with. Also, the kids were really loud which leads me to a Fredericksburg top tip. Want a romantical weekend and a place that outlaws children? That would be the Hangar Hotel folks obviously at the airport. Don't forget to hang in the Officer's Club bar to wind down. Order an Aviation. My biggest issue was the complimentary breakfast. First morning while waiting for the wife to awaken I ventured in for coffee and a snack. Eggs looked terrible, like a disgusting yellow blob in a steel coffin. I decide on a waffle instead only to have bang on the kitchen door to ask for syrup. Ah, the chef de cuisine playing on his cell phone. Next morning I daresay was worse. This time no meat options and the chafing dishes were empty on multiple stations. Oh well, perhaps an orange juice from that snappy machine. No pulp bag, just water dispensed. I decided to grab a plate, then another as the first wasn't clean. I gave up and decided free isn't always good; try the Sunset Grill like we did. Having stayed at a few good spots in Fredericksburg, the overall experience less the dining woes I found my stay quite satisfactory. If you compare it to the Bed 'n Brew, Inn on Barons Creek is away from the main drag so less road noise. If I didn't plan on swimming, I'd pick the Hangar and the airport spectacle that only it can provide read more

I was hoping to be proven wrong by the negative comments that were made about the Inn, which were the AC noise, and the firm pillows. Let me start off with the good things, The staff were so welcoming and helpful. The rooms were a great size, a lot of space, and everything was clean...there was a mini fridge, microwave, and a coffee maker. We did not have breakfast there even though it is included, we wanted to try the local restaurants. The ac is a bit loud, but it did not bother me too much. The pillows are pretty firm, I actually prefer, but yes they are very firm, if that is not something you like, bring one with you. The location is perfect, you can't beat the short walk to Main street, and the property is lovely, my husband saw a turtle in the creek. read more

We came down to spend a birthday weekend and woke up to MULTIPLE cockroaches in our bathroom!! After we called maintenance didn't show up and on top of that the man at the front desk was very unapologetic, picked up a call while myself and my friend were describing the situation as to show his lack of care and only gave $20 off our room for the inconvenience and shoved it aside like it was no big deal. Great Inn! We stayed here for two nights for a convention that was being held at the inn and the hotel is beautiful, interiorly and exteriorly beautiful! In the entrance there are two chairs where you can take photos, and exteriorly there are a lot of chairs and table to sit in to enjoy the outdoors. The hotel has a beautiful landscape, with a lot of trees and plants- definitely enjoyed the scenery from my room. As for the rooms, we had a regular room, and the rooms are well equipped with a microwave, fridge, desk and a small living room aside from the beds. The small living room even had a separating door, to separate it from the beds in the room- which was very useful when practicing for my presentation for the event. The inn offers free breakfast included and the breakfast is a small buffet, with very few items offered such as eggs, meats, biscuits, waffles and cereal. The staff was very nice, the receptionist and staff at breakfast were very helpful and friendly. Overall, my stay here was very enjoyable, the rooms were clean and well equipped, the scenery of the hotel is beautiful! For the price, it was totally worth staying here, with everything it offers. In addition, the location of the hotel is great- located less than a mile from downtown, about two blocks from the downtown strip, so we rarely used our vehicles, we just walked everywhere. And as for the parking, we were able to find parking quickly- granted we did stay here during the week, not the weekend. But I highly recommend this location, close to downtown and inexpensive! read more

We came to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary and had stayed here before with no major problems so we booked again. Unfortunately, this was a mistake. We paid for a 3 night stay and enjoyed our time but when you pay those prices you expect certain things. We found the wallpaper was coming off the walls in several places in our room making our room look like a 2 star hotel. When I went to the desk and told them their excuse was the roof had problems several years ago and some rooms still had not been fixed and my charges would stay the same. They acted like is was no big deal. The bigger problem was that they accused us of smoking in the room. I found out about this accusation when I called back to complain about the wallpaper. I told them that neither my wife or I smoke and this accusation needed to be removed from the notes on our account immediately but the manager, Terri, refused and told me she could not remove the notes but they were only for them and mentioned nothing about repercussions or charges associated with the accusation. I looked at my CC statement today and was shocked to find a charge on our card for $250. I called and the desk girl told me we were charged because we smoked in the room. My wife and I are bewildered at this because we DON'T SMOKE and we had no notification at all that we would be charged. I would have gone back and hashed this out but they didn't tell me we would be charged so I had let it go. We will see what happens as I have called to talk to the manager again but had to leave a message. Terrible customer service so far. read more

This hotel has several things working for it! The location and proximity to Main Street, rooms are suites and have a large bathroom, and they have breakfast each morning. I still think that the price was a little high, but we did visit during a busy time, so I get supply/demand. What doesn't work for the hotel is the beds are probably some of the worst I've ever slept in. There was also a musty smell coming from the window AC unit. With the exception of Tanner, don't expect any warm greetings or service from the Front Desk Staff. Would I stay there again. . .probably. read more

We chose this hotel to stay at for my Mom's 50th. The prices were excellent even during the week of the 4th of July. The rooms are dated, but comfortable. The amenities are wonderful! Clean lobby, and seating. Clean pool and hot tub. Lovely outside seating near the creek. The Inn is so close to Main Street but far enough that you can hang by the pool and not have the sounds be loud. I cannot express how wonderful the staff was!!!!! They really did go above and beyond for us. I was able to get an arrangement of the prettiest Lillies for my moms room. This place also has a delicious breakfast. Always refilling the tasty hot foods, including biscuits and gravy, eggs and sausages. We had to cut our stay short due to a family emergency and they made the change for us with no problem. We came by the spa for pedicures and massages. This is a lovely little spa located at the Inn on Barons Creek, just a few blocks off Main Street. Everyone was really friendly. The manicures and pedicures are done in a room off to the back right of the reception desk. There are two massage rooms designed for couple's massages, but single massages can be done here as well. I got the signature massage. It was wonderful. My massage therapist took extra care not to get any massage oils in my hair and there was even the option to shower after the massage. I left feeling relaxed and ready to take on the day. The reception area is small with a large couch and a few chairs, but while we were there it was relatively slow, so we didn't have a problem finding a place to sit. Pedicures take about an hour. The signature pedicure is $45 and the signature massage is $80. read more

Excellent Customer Service for Our Large Group. This is a lovely inn right in the heart of Fredericksburg within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and museums. Our group of 32 was easily accommodated in a variety of different rooms. Gary, the sales manager, went above and beyond to find more rooms when our count exceeded the original number of rooms blocked. The grassy lawn provides a perfect place to gather next to the creek in the evening. (We brought our own lawn chairs to leave some for other guests.) Breakfast in the morning was a full hot breakfast with eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, etc. Personally, we stayed in the creekside rooms and the rockers out front overlooking the creek were an extra treat. read more

About a week in advance, my husband and I decided to go to Fredericksburg for the extended 4th of July weekend. This was not my original choice, but where I wanted to stay did not have any rooms for the holiday weekend. Much to my surprise, the Inn on Barons Creek had one King Suite left so I snatched it up! First and foremost, this Inn has a great location, just 5 minutes from Main Street, so you are close enough to walk, but not so close that you have to deal with the crowds and street noise. We did not arrive until 9 pm on Thursday, June 30, but check in was extremely quick and the girls at the front desk were so polite and helpful. We had indicated that we were hiking Enchanted Rock the next morning so they gave us some pointers on that. They have a small sundry shop next to check in which was PERFECT since I was needing a glass of wine to wind down from the drive from Houston ... the front desk even opened it for me! Overall, I was very impressed for the accommodations. Mind you, I have not stayed in a hotel that ONLY cost $175/night in a long, long time .. so the diva in me was nervous about what I might arrive to find. Not to worry here, the room was extremely clean, had cold a/c, and a sitting area separate from the bedroom. It was anything fancy, but for the price, it was perfect! The bathroom was large & clean and had great lighting. My only complaint for Room 204 was that the sink water did not ever get hot, lukewarm at best AND that when we would first run the sink or shower, the water had an odd smell (perhaps from minerals?) that quickly dissipated. Breakfast is not anything to write home about. We ate there our first morning only because were going hiking, so we needed something quick. Breakfast consisted of scrambled "au gratin" style eggs with potatoes (yes, it tasted like au gratin potatoes with egg mixed in, waffles, fruit, cereal, sausage and some bread. This was the only time we ate at the Inn as there are so many great choices for breakfast in town (I highly recommend the Sunset Grill on Adams St). We did not partake of the pool, although it did look inviting. There are also some chairs overlooking the creek that we sat in for a bit, but there simply was not a breeze to stay there long enough. Overall, this was a wonderful stay and this would definitely be my top choice when staying in Fredericksburg again! read more

Recently made a trip to the awesome place that is Fredericksburg, TX and stayed here with my family. The location was great, being that was only a few blocks from the Main Street. The outside was very old school but nice looking, easy access with the car port being right in front to drop off you're stuff. No valet, but parking was plentiful. Here's the break down... Location: As stated, right off Washington near Main Street, no need to drive and find parking during busy weekends, just leave the car parked at the hotel and walk. Area feels safe, constant patrolling squad cards, and overall affluent area of Town Place: The lobby is great, very clean, very old style Texas ranch type theme. Have a nice sitting / library area, with plenty of chairs to sit. The eating area is big and open, plenty of chairs, but though breakfast was complimentary, we were having a hard time no matter how early we went (they serve 6-10a) to get any food, and were constantly finding ourselves waiting for food Rooms: nice rooms, a little dated when compared to the lobby, but overall not bad. Mini-fridge provided with microwave. Shower and bathroom were decent, though the lights were on the outside of the bathroom which were just weird to me, hah. We had two queen beds, which were soft and comfortable though the sheets were a little weird, over-starched, and just not that comfortable when trying to cover up. No patio access, but our view of the creek was nice. Service: Front desk were decent, they greeted with smiles and helped us, but we felt we had to pry for information, We had to ask about the breakfast, ask about times of the pool, or if they even had a gym. When we arrived, it seemed like they just had us sign in and take keys, and that was it for them. I understand it was a busy Labor day weekend, but they could have been more helpful. Amenities/Food: The pool is nice, right off the back of the hotel backing up the creek. But when it gets dark, there is no light in the pool, so little weird swimming around the in the dark. There were even people out that were trying to enjoy wine and cigars in the dark, and had to use some makeshift flashlight for lighting. The creek was nice, can walk down, lots of patio chairs, little waterfall, and you can walk down to the creek and skip stones or just zone out, so that was nice. Price: The only reason it was worth the price for me, was because location. Other than that, it seemed a little too pricey for the amenities and rooms. Summary: In the end, we would probably come back here if we wanted to have that easy access to downtown at a nice price, but it probably won't be my first choice next time. Definitely not what we expected. Stay here for the location, not for the amenities. Room is clean but dated. Several of the lights were not working and it is very dark in the rooms. The fan didn't work. The blanket was too small for the bed and kept falling off. For some reason there was tape left on the walls. The breakfast is good, better than what was expected. The hotel has nice rooms and they are clean. The prices are a little high but that could be due to Spring Break. We paid $200 for the night. They have free breakfast from 6am to 9am. The staff is great! The only drawback is the parking. They share the parking lot with the Conference Center which takes parking from the hotel guest. The location is good as well. You can walk to The Main Street where all the events are located. I would recommend this hotel to other visitors to Fredericksburg, TX. read more

Conveniently located right off of highway 87 about 2 blocks before Main Street. That is one of the biggest pros of the hotel: tons of dining, shopping, and bars within walking distance. The rooms are a good size with a living room area with couch separated from the bedroom area by large pocket doors. The bathrooms are also a good size with large bathtub. The furniture is a bit outdated, but the beds are still comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. Housekeeping was on top of things and brought plenty of towels. The parking would have been easy, but tons of people with trucks and suvs were taking up 2 spots. I had to park a little way up the road. Breakfast is served from 6 to 10 and had self service pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and toast. The Inn on Barons Creek is one of the few hotels that doesn't require a 2 night minimum over the weekend. I'm sure there are good deals on bed and breakfasts, but most require the full weekend, so Barrons Creek is ideal if you just want to spend one night. And City of Fredericksburg: please update the sidewalks leading up to Main Street before some person gets hit by a car. read more

We just completed a reunion for 72 Navy veterans at the Inn on Barons Creek. The accommodations were fantastic. The theater and Presidential suite made a perfect hospitality suite for our group, and the Nimitz room in their conference center was ideal for our banquet. They provide a excellent hot breakfast buffet every morning. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating in satisfying our every need. The location is in easy walking distance of all the restaurants and attractions on Main Street. I cannot imagine a better place to stay. read more
