I booked the Umauma Falls 9-Line zipline experience for my fiancé and I and we had an excellent time! It was the first time ziplining for both of us and the staff did a great job making us feel safe and showing us how easy ziplining was. I was nervous at first but then I was swinging upside down by the end of it. The 14 step waterfalls are beautiful and so fun to zipline over. There are four lines at the beginning that have duel lines so you can zipline next to a friend. This made for some great gopro footage that I have posted on YouTube. There is some waiting in between lines but the overall process is very quick. There is one point in the experience where everyone is ziplining three consecutive ziplines by themselves while aiding by staff at each point. I did a lot of research on other ziplines before selecting Umauma and I am so glad that I choose Umauma in the end. Everywhere you are is a sight to see with scenic views of the rainforest, waterfalls, and ocean. Its great for couples, families, and large groups. Worth every penny! read more

Best family experience we had yet! We were lucky to have gone despite covid because it wasn't as crowded and we got 45% off special. We were in a small group of 6 with 3 instructors; Katie, Hog, and I can't remember the other. For most of us it was our first time and myself and husband are afraid of heights. They were very helpful, funny, and made us feel safe and secure. The views while zipping down are breathtaking. The highest drop is approx 150 feet but at certain points the earth drops into a descending mountain of waterfalls over 400 feet beneath your feet. Having to go through 9 lines makes it a better experience because after you take the first leap you'll definitely want another. If your debating doing this and your older like my husband and I, Just do it best feeling ever. read more

Everything about the ATV experience was great: customer service, facilities, instructors/guides, scenery. It was one of our highlights. The vehicles are well maintained and a LOT of fun. The guides were a blast, while feeling everything was safe. When we got to the waterfalls area, they are very friendly, helpful, took photos and a lot of fun to be around. The Umauma ziplining was awesome! My four year old had the best time. The guides were funny, personable, and safe. If you're looking for something to do with the whole family, this is it. The views are breathtaking! The grounds are beautiful and well taken care of. The hiking trail is well maintained and a nice activity while waiting for your turn on the ZipLine. We also had lunch at the snack bar. The burgers were good. They didn't have cameras working along the zip lines and the guides don't take pictures for you like on some of the other ones I've done, but I was easily able to hold my iPhone and take photos. The shop sells carriers to help secure your phone. I didn't use one, but would recommend it. read more

Umauma (pronounced oo-mau-ma, not uma-uma, as I thought!) Falls Zip and Rappel just added a full rappel/waterfall slide experience and wow...it is no joke. You start with a 250-ft. rappel that includes 3 faces of the mountain, then have two more (60-80 ft?) rappels down the waterfalls. It's an amazing experience but it is HARD for "regular folk." I'm fairly active (I take spin and occasional hot yoga) and I struggled with the rappel at some points. They do not provide you with gloves as it's a "friction sport" and you rely on your hands heavily to keep your speed in check while rappeling, so make sure you understand that going into it. I got pretty burnt/blistered on my left hand (non-braking hand) on the first rappel, which was probably a big reason why I struggled on the rest of the cliffs -- hard to rappel when you don't want to touch the rope with your raw skin! (Having no gloves was the reason I deducted a star, too; I've been rappeling before and always had gloves; I was very surprised that they didn't even have them as an optional accessory.) Scott and Caleb were cool and make it look easy, but don't be fooled... you will walk away exhausted. Exhilarated, but exhausted. If an extreme Hawaii experience is part of your agenda, definitely look into this. If you want something more relaxing/laid back, their ziplines looked awesome and LONG, and from our spot at the bottom of the falls, we could see lots of shakas being thrown as people flew threw the sky. Edit: they give you shoes that you must wear, so don't bother packing/buying any specific footgear if you're doing the rappel experience! read more

I am so happy about my experience with Umauma Falls! It was my first time zip lining and it was honestly so much better than I expected. Some lines are shorter and not as high up as others, it was a mixture of lines which was great for a first timer. The staff was so upbeat, positive, fun and had an excellent sense of humor. I cannot wait to return to The Big Island and definitely zip line hear again. The property is breathtakingly beautiful. A absolute must do when on the big island!!! The guides are so young and energetic on the atv ride. They take very good care of the riders, even those that are first time riders. Definitely need to bring suitable clothes that can fry easily or don't mind getting wet as there are some points where it gets messy and muddy. Overall experience was great !! While the facilities were nice and the zip lines well laid out, the staff were quite reckless. They drove us up the mountain in an unsafe manner, only used the safety cables half of the time and were quite distracted and playing around when they should have been paying attention to the members of our group. Also, they had 18 people in our group which was much too large. We took nearly 3 hours to get down the mountain and were waiting more than not for the group as they ziplined down. We were told our group would be no more than 10 people when we signed up. Overall, the management for this company appears disengaged from core operations, especially operations which involve customer safety. As such, we would NOT recommend Umama Falls to other customers. read more

What was supposed to be a great experience at Umauma Zipline ended up being a nightmare because of two guides playing around. While the employees were giving each other a high five about something funny they did not notice my husband went thru the breaking bumper and was coming full speed into the deck. Their humor would have been ok if it did not endanger the safety of the people they were responsible for. My husband now has rope burns on his arm that will leave scars for life when it was 100% avoidable. I guess Umauma feels the reimbursement for his zipline fee is worth the scars he will have carry the rest of his life. Think twice before using this company... read more

This was my second time doing the zipline! I had Shay, Micah, Sidney as our zipline crew they were awesome and prioritized Saftey but kept the energy up! I took my little cousin for his 13th birthday and I know he will always remember this experience! I was a bit disappointed the weather messed up my kayak reservation, but it's okay. First time Zipliner: Could not have been more amazing!!! I had such a blast! Thanks to our guides: Rocky, Skippy, Scott and Moana (Just kidding! I think it was actually Kauna or similar to that... also welcome to the tough name to pronounce club, I'm a proud member myself!). Tips: Wear hiking type clothing and be prepared to possibly get rained on. (They do have covered areas to wait in between zip lines for shade and/or rain cover.) I preferred to dance in the rain but it's whatever you're into. Bring your camera/phone/GoPro/etc. even if you paid for the video experience. We didn't bring them and the video didn't work so we have only our memories to live off of. (Good thing we're not Millennials! I kid. I kid.) Also, the video is only on the 4th (and fastest) line so you'll want the other stuff too. Do the things that they recommend aka try going upside down and spinning and such! Don't be a sourpuss. Have fun! Overall, highly recommend and I hate tourist type things! Wish I could've had a private tour option or small group option. Also, MUST MUST MUST get a bar put in at the end! This was such a highlight of our trip! Every single person working here was so friendly and our zip line guides were not only knowledgeable, but funny and some of the sweetest people! To have done 9 lines and have such breathtaking scenery the whole time was more than we ever expected.
