The venue is nice and far cleaner than I expected for a place in the "underground". I've been to nice bars where the bathrooms were filthy but these bathrooms were in great condition and very clean! The security guards were great too and funny. He kept using his light to show where we should not stand. The floors of this place was nice and clean as well. I'd expect sticky floors but man...it's unbelievable for a concert venue. This place also have food areas for the bands to place their merchandise. Overall, I would definitely come back here for a band I want to see! read more

We went to see the REO Speedwagon/ survivor cover band last night. The venue is pretty cool, and this might have just been the band we saw, but the volume of the music was RIDICULOUSLY LOUD. Unenjoyably loud. I have seen a few other shows there, and it is always too loud in there, but this was at another level of obnoxious. I am 36 years old, and a musician that plays what is probably known as the loudest instrument....so i do not have sensative ears by any means. What is most disappointing is we left the show over at the filmore for this (no re-entey). I don't think ill ever be back here. Stay away if you value your hearing. read more

I came here for a show, The place is good size for an intimate show. They gave me a hard time for my license being expired last week and gave me some shameful X's on my hands, but that was completely my fault. When you walk in and All of the walls inside had art of music icons of all genres which looked really great. They have a long fully stocked bar and They have a raised VIP section which would be an awesome ticket choice because the reason why they are losing a star is because no matter where you stood unless you were about 4 people away from the stage, you couldn't see anything. The stage could use a couple of feet in elevation. Good thing the sound system was so great because it made up for the lack of seeing who was playing. Advice would be to come early to get up close if that's your thing! If not, come anyway and feel some music! read more

I am in love with this spot. Thanks to the Fillmore for hosting the 30th Anniversary Dirty Dancing Night. Complete with free popcorn and sultry Latin dancers. What else is so amazing about this spot is the 3 full bars...with excellent drink specials that accommodates the theme they are hosting. I was excited for my first concert ever in Charlotte. I drove down from Concord to the venue to arrive at 7pm when the doors opened. The doors didn't open. I stood in the rain for 45 minutes for Freddie Gibbs last night. No apologies or explanation at all. The manager had straight attitude probably because the venue was a third full. I was soaking wet and they had the AC on blast. 130$ ticket 2 rounds of 18$ long islands a beer and a double Hennessy 26$ and definitely my first and last visit here for sure I left after 45 minutes after speaking with the manager about the air condition level. Was okay. Not the best , not the worst. The security pat down was a bit much, They literally patted me up & down everywhere, didn't hold back at all. I felt a little embarrassed at the time, as they do this in front of everybody, but I'm guessing that's standard procedure there? Ive gone though less security at the airport as far a "pat down" procedure. I understand how important safety is, but my goodness, they could at least have a curtain up so the everyone can't see you being felt up. Anyway- the sound was awful inside, you could hardly understand the words to the songs due to to horrible sound quality. My husband & I left about 30 minutes after getting there bc it was so bad. DO NOT buy the VIP package for ANY SHOWS at this venue. I went to a Pigeons Playing Ping Pong event here on 4/27/22. I purchased the VIP upgrade because it was my wife and I's anniversary, and this is our favorite band. The VIP package included a "private entrance/exit, a private bar, a private bathroom, and private standing section." When I arrived, there was no private entrance/exot (not a big deal, I had no problem waiting in line). Then they took us to the VIP section which had a bathroom, but it was out of operation and workers said it had been that way for several months. About halfway through the opening act, we were approached by security that said we are changing VIP to GA because GA is getting too crowded. So, thirty minutes into our show we lost the private bar and private standing section which were the only parts the VIP package that they even remotely accommodated. I have been trying to get refunded by this establishment for almost a week, but THEY REFUSE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE read more

I was able to check out The Underground at the 2016 Yelp party. The venue is super-cool and seems to be laid-out in a really thoughtful manner. It's a long, rectangle shaped space with 2 large bars on each long wall and a round bar on one of the short wall. The other short wall is a stage for live music. Tucked in one of the corners is what appeared to be a loungey area with couches (construction wasn't quite done when I was there). I'll update again once I visit during a regular event - but, at first glance this place has the makings of something great! read more

Came to the Underground last night for a concert. Absolutely love this venue! The space is very large with a stage at one end and a circular bar at the other end. On one side is a long bar and on the other is an elevated platform and bar for a vip section. So basically a large rectangle with the center for show watching and dancing! Drinks are priced reasonable, relative to a concert venue. Lots of liquors available. Only had a small number of beers by bottle/can (though I found what I wanted!). They also have a good many beers on tap. Parking is super convenient with the new deck opened up across the street. They have alot of great bands coming to this location. A bit smaller venue which makes a much more personal experience. read more

The Underground is an even more intimate version of The Fillmore and right next door. I love this place. I recently saw one of my favorite artists (Jidenna) here. It's so intimate that he was able to come out into the crowd to interact with everyone. Before everyone finds out about this gem make sure you find a reason to come over and enjoy this venue. read more

This place was amazing! Went for an after party concert last night and I definitely wasn't disappointed!! The venue was very spacious and the Dj was amazing as well. All if the drinks were reasonably priced and strong so you get your money's worth . I would definitely attend another concert/party at this venue. Parking is plenty also so never have to worry about finding a spot but you might have to walk a little. 10/10! read more

All around disappointed in the way the Underground does business, COVID protocols are very misrepresented on different ticket buying platforms. I was told through ticket master for my show only 12 and under would need proof of vaccination. I arrived without proof of vaccination or COVID test and was turned away, I tried to show the door man the protocol listed on the ticket I purchased which he ignored multiple times until I made it obvious I wasn't leaving without a proper response. He then finally acknowledged this and said it was inaccurate and their was nothing he could do and that I couldn't get a refund and turned me away again as I was "holding up the line". Also I saw groups of people turned away for the same reasons, as a Venue it's your responsibility to make sure your Protocols are accurately portrayed on every platform you do business and that was clearly not done with how many people had issues. This was even a disservice to Felly and any other artists you host without ensuring proper communication of your rules. I do not recommend The Underground or Fillmore after this event, we have much better, much more honest and accommodating venues in our area. read more

While I think this venue would be just fine for a typical person, are there not better accommodations for people in wheelchairs? I attended a show here after reading that the accessible seating was less than ideal at this venue. Fortunately I can stand/walk for short distances so I decided to leave my wheels at home and get a fast pass and hope to at least get up far enough so I could support myself on the front barricade. The designated accessible spot would have been less than ideal. It all worked out for me in the end but the advance line standing and concert length was almost too much for me to handle and I don't think it would be worth it to go to this venue again. I also talked to a girl who wheeled in and her view was completely blocked. She had to pretty much watch the concert on the screen of her phone. It's just really too bad there isn't another solution. read more

Saw The Amity Affliction and Senses Fail there on 1/16/19. Was skeptical bc all the negative reviews I had read said security were assholes and the acoustics were bad. Couldn't disagree more. Attended the Washed Out concert here back on July 10th while visiting my brother. Amazing concert and venue! Easy to get to and free parking too. Would be cool to live here to attend more concerts, or just come and hangout for a drink. read more

The sound quality was absolutely terrible when I attended recently. The speakers were so loud my ears started ringing; it was uncomfortably loud even when we moved as far back into the venue as we could. The microphones continuously squealed. How can a music venue suck so bad at SOUND?? The stage could also be a little higher - to be such a small place you would think you would be able to see better. Other negatives: they must let people smoke very close to the entry ways as it kept wafting in. The bathrooms are not marked and you have to go on a hunt to find them. Drink service was quite slow despite an adequate amount of bartenders and short lines. I don't know how it takes 10 min to get a drink with 3 bartenders and maybe 7 total people in line. read more

This is a smaller more intimate venue that's located next door to the Filmore. They have two bars and one is reserved for VIP seating. If you don't want to shell out the extra dough for a VIP seat, they do have some tall standing only tables spread out on the back perimeter of the main floor. It's a good venue for intimate shows and it's also a good venue for small events. read more

A great venue to begin with, and after the new renovations, it's gotten even better! There's plenty of space to move around while still giving off an intimate club-like feel. The sound quality is great. They offer a VIP area, but there's a great view from anywhere in the venue. The two bars are well-stocked and offer speedy service. While it's still LiveNation, they are doing their best to help keep the local scene involved and thriving. I would recommend to anyone. read more

I like a lot about this place, but it's still Live Nation. I am a big fan of local and regional music. Live Nation seems to ignore that and it's unfortunately because they are the future headliner bands. The smaller version of The Fillmore is a good idea and I hope they keep improving and recognize more of the local flavour in the future. I was invited to The Underground for a big Yelp event in the summer. The venue was set up very nicely with 3 different bars! The venue has a nice big stage and plenty of room to dance and watch the show. The light and sound set up looked really nice as well, I can't wait to return for one of their events in the future. read more

I have somewhat mixed feelings about this place. I recently attended a Bea Miller concert here and although the performers were incredible, the audience was dull as fuck. One girl was literally reading a book. The security at this place was also dull and rude. As I was performing a catwalk one security guard approached me and told me I would never be a model because I was too short. Totally uncalled for! By far the worst venue I've ever been to, and I've been from NY to Miami, live here in NC. They check your wallet, entire body (disrespectfully) if you're a male. My friend stepped out of a vehicle with a drink, he's 25, and they marked him with X's. ALTHOUGH, he is 25, they kicked him out for drinking in the venue. The purpose of security is to make sure the concert goers are safe, not to target and select concert goers to eject without reason. Security is rude and threatened to call the cops as we were leaving discussing our experience. Security went through the trouble of searching through folders in a wallet and in socks as we entered. Shittiest venue I have ever been to. My boyfriend is (obviously) 26 years old and got denied at the door when he was finishing his drink. They gave him the option to either wait 30 minutes to get let back in Or get x's on his hands. They then proceeded to kick him out because he had a drink in his hand. HE IS 25 YEARS OLD. This place lost my credit card and was completely unhelpful. The bartender just brushed me off and said she couldn't find it, didn't even look at me again. I was about to give a tip but after that treatment has to cancel everything. Venue was nice thought but you would think they would make a bigger deal about compromising a customers security. I just wanted to make everyone aware of the shady activity going on at The Underground. At the end of April, I saw Balance and Composure there. I mistakenly left my debit card at the bar after the show through all the excitement. I had two PBR tallboys on my tab ($6 each). The next day, I called the venue trying to retrieve my debit card. No response. The following day, I went up to the venue to try to retrieve it and was given the run-around by The Underground's Staff. They said that three different people had my debit card and that I would have to wait until they were in the office to get it. Fast foward to Monday May 1, I show up at the venue because I still havent received my card back. I meet with the GM Greg Quail and the "Director of Operations" Jessica Bryant. They informed me that they didnt have my card and didnt know what to tell me. Greg Quail also informed me that they could not charge auto-gratuity for left cards. Furious, I leave the venue, cancel my debit etc. After checking my bank statement a few days later, I notice that my $12 bar tab has now been processed and was charged $38, meaning that someone had given themselves a $26 tip on my $12 tab. After trying to contact Greg and Jessica multiple times, I finally got ahold of Jessica today to which she literally told me to "Fuck Off and that the card/charges aren't her responsibilty" and proceeded to hang up. I recorded my face-to-face conversation with Brian and Jessica and recorded my phone conversation that Jessica told me to "fuck off" in to make sure they couldn't backtrack on anything they said. I'll now have to weigh out my legal options. The bottom line is, dont give this shady business your money. Dont open a tab with them. and definitely dont leave your card by mistake. read more

We Paid extra for fast passes but it was very disorganized. You are separated into two lines- boys and girls. Because more girls purchased the fast passes than boys, the boy line moved quicker and boys without fast passes got into the venue quicker than girls who did purchase fast passes. The people who work here are extremely rude and dismissive. It does not seem like they have an organized process for taking tickets and admitting people, and asked us to separate into gendered groups for some reason which I found weird and unprofessional, and created an awkward and unpleasant environment. I had high hopes for this venue: convenient, good size, good layout, etc. My first disappointment was the beer. Small selection of good beers in tap, $8 for a small plastic cup, and it was warm. My friend got a beer and her cup had a hole in it. While we were waiting for the show to start, we noticed how warm it was getting inside. Before the opening act arrived on stage, we were already dripping with sweat and hadn't even been dancing. There was no cool air, no fan, nothing. I thought the girl in front of me was going to pass out. We soldiered on and made it through the show because we paid good money and drove 2 hours to see this artist perform. But by the end we looked and felt like we'd just left a sauna. I would expect these conditions from a dive bar or hole in the wall club, but not this place. And if you're going to suffocate people, at least give them cold beer at a better price. The only thing I liked about The Underground was the decor and the crowd vibe that night. read more
