Really nice staff, and not a single person in line when I went! I made the vast mistake of first going to the Telegraph location, which is run by the laziest set of bimbos I've encountered in a long time. Their work mentality is summarized by: "when we bloody well feel like it." They have no consistent hours, opening, closing, and taking lunch--you guessed it--when they bloody well feel like it. I don't have a printer at home. Never have. And I use to live by a FedEx Office/Kinko's. If I needed to print a boarding pass, a groupon, or anything, I'd throw it on my usb stick, walk on down, pop it into the copy machine/printer and ten cents poorer I'd have my page. In contrast to the UPS store, the 13 pages I printed today cost me over $8. Sure, its a trivial point, but if they're going to overcharge on trivial items I'm not going to trust them handling anything else. read more

I love UPS but this location particularly has a terrible customer service. I went in to ship my package to MAC cosmetic. What I usually do is to just hand a barcode on my phone to the staff. Today the two ladies there told me my barcode was expired and I would have to ask for a new one. I explained to them that was not possible I just got an email from UPS yesterday. She still went on and lied to me that usually the label has to be used in the same day with the day I received my email. I asked her do I have to request another label and wait another 2-3 business days?. She said yes and walked away to help the other client. The other lady was trying to say this has been happening the same to other customers. I said then something must be wrong with your scanner not my code. But she ignored and told me to get another label. The staff were not informative and helpless. Now that I walked in to the different location and was able to ship my package right away. They just scanned the barcode on my phone. Simple as it should be! read more

I run a small business (textbook sales over the web) and use these guys for all my continental US shipping. They're always courteous and friendly, and usually quite efficient. Never had the feeling they were trying to rip me off on anything. Also--and I don't know if this was a change "passed down from corporate" or their idea, but it's a welcome change--they recently started e-mailing me tracking numbers after I drop off a shipment, instead of me having to call like before...very convenient, I just copy and paste the numbers and e-mail them to my customers. read more

Worst UPS in this area. If you're a Cal student avoid this location at all cost (there's an Amazon store inside the MLK Student Union). I asked about the fees charged for minimal services, like tape $1 and printing labels $3+, and the clerk tells me how cheap the students at Cal are and how they want everything for free. Compared to other local UPS stores this one is absurd both in attitude and overpriced "services". Obviously smart savvy students will know that other locations don't stiff patrons for every single item and yes, ask for similar complimentary service. Admittedly, the first couple times I went here, I was shocked by the cost of shipping an item and appalled that I had to pay $5.00 to use their shipping address to receive a package. Now, I'm totally in shipping heaven with them. I have a mail box (with a street address, not a PO box) and I no longer worry about packages sitting on the doorstep at home waiting to be stolen. They know my name and even called me on Christmas eve to let me know that I received a package, in case it was a gift, and to let me know that they were closing early in case I needed to pick it up. Totally cool in my book. If I feel cranky or tired, the bright lights and high energy environment are a bit much, but the guys who work here (Jacob, Jeffrey and the guy who smokes outside with the dark hair) are welcome faces on the weird and windy avenue known as Shattuck. read more

I had to ship a tennis racket to Baltimore, Md. I walked in with a tennis racket and my wallet. They packed it up and shipped it out UPS ground. It cost $25 which I thought was kind of pricey --I don't ship things but I do know when I purchased the racket, they charged me $4.95 for shipping. The upshot was that I didn't have to do anything but fill out a couple short forms and give 'em some plastic. I give them 3 stars for the high price. This might be a seasonal review , but this UPS Store really sucked for me at Christmas time. Trying to mail my packages to my East Coast/Southern family of December 15th , I was prepared to pay but I don't think ten days from Christmas is cutting it super close. Guy there says no way it can make it ground , have to send it 2 day air , 50 dollars per package. Meanwhile , my brother and Dad sent packages to me that same day via USPS for around fourteen bucks , they got to me in plenty of time. So, I didn't want to spend $40 to send 6 jars of jam to my sister-in-law in Paris via US Mail. In fact, that would have been another $40 to send another 6 jams to my in-laws in London. I thought and hoped that UPS might have some other amount that was more to my liking. Nope. It would have cost about $120! For just the package going to Paris! Not UPS' fault. US Mail no longer does surface mail. Although I didn't get my shipment mailed here, the clerk was very helpful. He even measured and weighed my product. I used this UPS Store for over 10 years and they were always great. I had a mailbox and shipped many packages from here. The owner Jeff is very accommodating and helpful and his staff over the years has been solid. They will leave packages in a secret cabinet for you after hours, and I've always been able to call and ask if a specific piece of mail was in yet. They even found a check I accidentally threw out in their recycle bin along with my junk mail, and they called me to let me know they saved it. Some folks complain that it cost more to ship UPS or Postal Service packages from a "UPS Store", and services like printing your UPS label cost $3, etc. Keep in mind that it might cost you a few bucks more, but you get way better customer service and you don't have to drive to Hegenberger to go to the main UPS location. You get what you are willing to pay for. I'm glad this store is open and Jeff and his staff do a great job. read more

The worst ups store ever!!!!! I would have given zero star but there is no options for that. This is the first time I reviewed on yelp, so raged. They didn't provide a tracking number for my tax forms, in which case tracking is important. Ended up sending a certified mail, which provides a tracking number that doesn't work, and extremely expensive. This place is the worst. Just left without buying anything. They will try to sell you stuff you don't want without telling you. Then they tell you the total to ship a small cd case domestically with no priority will cost $15. They will tell you that your package is inefficient for shipping and try to sell you other stuff. And when I told them I was shipping a video game system, I got a very sketchy vibe and thought they might steal it if I sent it there. Do not go here. I've been to this store twice with packages that needed to be returned. I had all my labels and boxes, all I needed was for the store to tape them. When I requested they seal them, I'm informed they cannot unless I donate to the ACLU. I don't have anything against the ACLU but, I shouldn't be forced to donate. I would think if they cannot tape boxes, UPS would charge me (and others) a minimal fee to seal packages. Since it happened twice, I am curious if the store staff is using this pressure/influence to skim donations from the ACLU jar or from UPS- no proof of this but, it wouldn't surprise me. read more

Horrible Service, absolutely the worst service I've ever received, anytime, anywhere. CAUTION! Do NOT use them. I'm convinced that the guy, (who colors his hair Auburn) has suffered some mental trauma. That's the only explanation I can come up with. Here is my story: I walked in with returns to Amazon. Two identical items that were delivered the same day on the same order. He had attitude from the moment I approached with my packages. He asked me to distinguish between the two packages and continued to berate me for not being able to figure out which label goes with which package. My Amazon email certainly did not distinguish between them, which I told him, but he just went on and on. He muttered an arch warning, as though I would be smote with an Amazon thunderbolt if I put the label on the wrong one. It was bizarre. I got the feeling he didn't want to take the packages from me, but I persisted. His anger was way out of proportion. It's my package after all, I can deal with Amazon if something goes wrong, which I told him. He kept it up, until I snapped and called him a giant dick. Guess what? He smiled a little. It seems he enjoyed the verbal abuse. Go figure. He wouldn't give me his name when I asked, he said he was afraid of me. What!? I'm a less than five foot tall old woman! The older dude was not much better, yelling that it had been a long day. What weirdos!! Update: Amazon only received one of my packages. As I anticipated, this stupid fool deliberately screwed up my returns. I have no doubt that it was intentional. I called Amazon and they kindly offered to pay me anyway. WHAT the what. I'm trying to chill myself so my blood doesn't boil over. TO put it as respectfully as I can muster right now, I can NOT recommend mailing/shipping anything from here, for ANY reason, ever. Not only because customer service sucks, but primarily because they don't actually get the job done while swindling us and coasting on our tax dollars (read: they ship UPS mail through USPS but charge you for UPS services!) I went in to mail an expedited manila envelope containing my passport renewal work on 12/19/15. Granted, it was the holidays, and I knew it wasn't the best timing, so I figured I should use UPS instead of USPS. (That youtube video of the postal worker dumping mail into a waste bin still fresh in my mind). BIG MISTAKE. First, I'm told they don't take credit cards for purchases under $10. Ok. For small businesses, I totally get this, but for a corporate chain? baloney. Anyhow, it's the holidays, and no use in getting upset at these young whippersnappers. I go next door to the credit union to withdraw $20, and return to pay. I ask for the fastest, most secure shipping and they said "oh you need First Class". So I go for it, trusting that they'll take care of it. Usually, I don't get my receipt, but I had a funny feeling and asked for it when they went to throw it away. I'm charged $2.34 for this first class letter. Fast forward to 12/29/15 - TEN days later. I am out of town, and my housemate texts me saying my Expedited Passport renewal was "returned to sender" for NOT HAVING POSTAGE. Like, nothing at all. are. You. KIDDING?? I understand we are all human, and make mistakes. The impact of this mistake on me? Realistically, besides my current and impermanent rage, it's only a few bucks, and a bit inconvenient, and probably means my flight to Japan is going to cost a couple hundred dollars more...(actually, this totally still makes me unhappy but what can I do besides rant). But just a skim through the other yelp reviews indicates that this wasn't a one-time only oversight. Not only that, but I was charged $2.34, and the true postage required was $1.42 (It was written on the envelope by the USPS postal worker). The actual money isn't an issue. The issue is that these dumb crooks are going to put the USPS out of business by charging almost double, while relying on USPS to do the actual services, straight scamming customers out of cash, and messing with my travel plans.... Btw, from my receipt I can see that the logged-in cashier's name is Thomas. A quick shout out, buddy. Thanks for overcharging me and somehow managing to throw my mail in the USPS bin without adding any postage, Thomas. I see many promotions coming your way.
