Jesse and his team (Samuel, Dave, and Sean) were amazing. I visited this location multiple times to send over 20 boxes from Cambridge to Chicago for a move. Some boxes I had packed myself, others they packed for me. Everything arrived promptly and safely. The team here are attentive, helpful, and professional. I'm just back from sending what started off as a huge box from the 955 Mass Ave store. Because of its large size it was going to cost a lot of money, but before I had time to get discouraged, Kelly quickly offered to cut the box down and help me repack and retape it right there in the store. She ended up basically reconstructing the entire box for me; then at Lynne's suggestion we took it down to the floor and leaned on it with all our might while Kelly taped it tightly.. I'm delighted to report that Kelly's hard work and determination paid off! When she measured it again in its new svelte form, the reduction in size brought the price down to 1/3 of what it had been when I lugged it through the door! This was customer service at its best. Made a special trip here to ship something. I need to use my UPS account. Apparently they don't want that. One would think that walking into a UPS Store would be a good way to use one's UPS account. I asked why--I could even print up a label on his computer and pay him for the box if that makes it easy. He wasn't very helpful. A true "don't ask me I just work here". Oh well. I went elsewhere. This UPS Store location has always been super helpful and on point with me. I have overnighted and ground shipped numerous parcels for work. The guys here have always been very accommodating, and the shipments have always arrived on time. Furthermore they were able to step up on an overnight shipment for which USPS could not guarantee on-time delivery. This is turning into my default shipping spot! read more

Lived close by 40+ years.Visit often. While the job gets done, don't find either of the two men I usually see there particularly friendly or seemingly interested in helping. There is an undercurrent of resentment. I go out of my way to smile, greet them but don't really get much in return. Kind of feel like I need to be extra nice for fear of something happening to my packages! Have also gotten misinformation (for instance, Amazon allows customers to print UPS labels free of charge in store-its on their site so there's no debate about this-but I'm informed the store charges for print outs. I let it go) and much more disturbingly both myself and another friend separately wondered out loud to each other if they weren't a bit racist based on how we separately saw people treated in store. The fact that both me and my friend (she was a victim) felt/observed this separately over time is something to note (In my case I saw a white man looking at packing items for sale in the store, followed by an elderly Hispanic (?) or non-white woman looking/asking about the same items. She got a rebuke "not to touch/disturb the items" from the man. I was, needless to say, shocked. So, overall, convenience is great-wish a Fedex would come here too-but attitude, customer service and what two people have wondered is racism needs to change. The latter is enough for me not to use them anymore. read more

Efficient, friendly, and did a very nice job with packing an espresso machine for return for servicing out of state.

We have a mailbox at this location and from time to time we ship packages. Their service is always great. If we're expecting mail and happen to come in before their mail delivery has been sorted, they always offer to check. I once witnessed a panic-stricken customer try to send a postage-paid return envelope using one of their Express services till the employee behind the counter explained that it wasn't necessary to spend all that money when the sender expected her to use the envelope they had provided. This wasn't done in a condescending way, the employee was very patient while explaining. read more

This UPS Store sucks. I went there to ship a handmade baby blanket to a relative in Canada. I packaged it up myself, paid the $32 bucks it cost to ship to Canada and was on my way. So far a pleasant transaction. Well, I get a call from my relative who says he had to pay $49 bucks upon receipt of the gift. What, what, what? I call the International UPS call center and was informed that any package with a value of over $60 dollars is charged with customs, duties, and taxes on the amount that's over the $60. How would a customer possibly know this information??? Hey, here's an idea, how about the UPS Store taking some initiative and informing their customers of these exorbitant fees on international, specifically Canadian, mail. All it would take is a sign stating something like "If you are shipping a package to Canada valued at over $60, the recipient will be charged customs, duty, and taxes upon receipt in Canada". That would probably take care of it. What burns me the most is that this was a homemade blanket and I arbitrarily assessed its value as $100 given the yarn, labor, and sentimentality of the item. Had I known that my uncle would be charged almost $50 for the present for his first grandchild, I would have gladly assessed the value as $59 dollars. I called and spoke to Jessie, who claims to be the store owner. If he is the owner, wow, because he was completely inarticulate and a douche. We got in a verbal sparring match, and like a feeble-minded robot, he kept repeating that his customer service reps aren't responsible for alerting customers of Canadian customs and duty fees. Nice customer service boss! The least you could do is reimburse me for my shipment so I can pay my uncle back for the $50 bucks it cost him to receive my present. Thanks for the full disclosure - next time I'll ship with the U.S. Postal Service, they may be slower, but at least they let you know what the deal is. read more

This is my first time posting a review of a business, but felt compelled. I am amazed that a place that boasts that they are locally owned, exhibits so little willingness to engage with or support their customers. I was purchasing a box and planning to ship with UPS and was told in a very unfriendly manner while paying for the box that "there is no packing allowed in the store" and I would have to leave or go outside if I wanted to do this. A store that focuses almost exclusively on packaging and shipping can't even support their customers in providing a table where they can do this? This seems as far from the experience of a community business as one might hope for. Additionally, when I requested to speak to the owner to communicate my concerns he simply leaned out from the back room and said "I'm on the phone." My approach was very calm and low-key and I found this whole experience very off-putting. I will not return. read more

There is a young man named Ben at this UPS location and he deserves the five stars of this rating. I had several large items to ship to the West Coast and he picked up packages from my fourth floor walkup a block from the store and packed everything for me. All of my crystal and Lladro arrived in perfect condition, as did my framed artwork. I haven't seen this level of customer service since the 1980s. And to make a great experience even better, the price was affordable. I can't say enough good things about UPS in general and Ben in particular. He is the man to see if you are shipping anything, anywhere. read more

Incredibly rude employee, didn't tell us what he was charging us for, refused to return the package to us when asked, as he was handling it incredibly roughly, damaging the contents, refused to be apologetic or give managers information when confronted for his abhorrent behavior. The staff are very lovely, efficient people with a great sense of humor. When I sent out a visa application they advised me to have it sent to the store, and I got the visa back with no hassle at all. Even better, they try to help you save -- I was sort of worried about whether the consulate in question would get my materials in time and the guy talked me down from getting it delivered at 8:30 the next day, pointing out that the consulate probably wouldn't open until 9:00 and I might as well have it delivered at 10:30, which saved me some money.
