She closes early. She also tries to upcharge for services, trying to get people to pay more than needed. Need passport photographs? They will be rejected as they do not follow the rules. I came to this UPS to do an Amazon return. On the label instructions it does not say that I "need a box" clearly states that ups will take the item. The person working named Anthony was so help at all and being argumentative. He was very flustered and didn't even want to look at the slip and kept telling me to buy a box after he just scanned and took the woman's packages in front of me with no issue. I called another UPS store and explained what I was trying to return and they said they would accept it if my instructions said it did not need a box which again it didn't. I go to this store all the time to return items. Sometimes the employees are friendly and sometimes they are not. It is hit or miss. The last two months every time I go in the line is pretty long maybe like 7 people, which is understandable with the holidays. The line does not go by quick, felt like I was there for quite some time just trying to return a package. Overall the store is clean, nothing to special. They do everything shipping wise. Super convenient location - sandwiches (haha) between Jersey Mike's and Rubio's in the shopping center with Sprouts, just south of the 78 on El Camino Real. Very helpful when you need to ship stuff out UPS. Also, huge added bonus for me - they also have a regular Postal Service mail slot drop off at the front of the store AND they'll collect your USPS packages to be sent out. This particular corridor has no convenient USPS offices near it, so this is super helpful to me. The store is always very clean and has a small, but very useful, selection of cards and office supplies. They also have private mail boxes you can rent. Honestly, I would not have thought to leave a review, but the owner, Abe Albanna, asked me to leave a review and gave me his card - so here we are. Thanks for all your help Abe! read more

I went to my usual UPS location in Carlsbad today after the unprofessional service and being attempted to be taken advantage of, and went to drop off my FREE Amazon return package. The employee tried scanning my code from Amazon- well the woman from the day before had input my code into their system as if my package was already sent!!! So she had purposely not only tried to get me attempt to PAY for my free return- she had also already entered in my return code from Amazon as if my package would go back to the warehouse! Which would mean I would have never received a refund because they would have considered my package lost!!! SCAMMERS!!!! Please be aware of this coming to this location. Nelson was super upbeat and positive, joking around; very kind and personable. I have always used this location as the customer service is very good. I had a return to Amazon and the instructions said to take it to a different location. I followed the instructions and experienced the worst customer service. The guy actually refused to take the Amazon return. I called Amazon and they said to take it to any UPS Store, so I took it here, my old faithful. From the moment I walked in the woman working had a nasty demeanor. I should have walked out immediately and come back a different time or gone to a different location. I had 3 returns this morning, 2 from Amazon and 1 from a different company that required a couple extra steps. The entire thing annoyed her. This UPS location is super convenient, especially for Amazon returns. As previous Yelpers have already stated, the owner Abe is not the kindest, friendliest person. He IS rude. He charges for EVERYTHING and will question (practically accuse) customers on their way out if the packing tape they're holding is his or theirs. I'm giving this place of business one star because I hold my breath and hope for the best every time I walk in. Customer service does seem to somewhat exist if anyone other than Abe helps you. Do they ultimately get the job done here? Sure. Just be forewarned that you will walk out of there pretty upset at the way you were just spoken to or witnessing the way Abe speaks to other customers. Not a big Yelp reviewer, but I just had the most puzzling customer service experience at this location. On December 23, I arrived at 4:30 pm to pick up the last of my family's Christmas packages to find a sign on the door stating that the location had closed early. I have maintained a post office box here for three years, and find that this location occasionally closes early without notice. Today I collected the packages and decided to explain to management my disappointment, but the manager on duty seemed not to understand why a package delivery store closing early and without notice the day before Christmas should be a problem. He explained that they had decided to close early because it was a slow day, and asked if I had called to tell them I was coming in. I was a little surprised that a business would suggest that customers should call to confirm posted hours. The manager pressed on, asking of I could provide the dates I previously found the store closed early. After a short conversation, the manager thanked me brusquely for the feedback and turned back to his work on the opposite counter. In general, the quality of customer service seems to have declined since the recent remodel. The takeaways from my experience, then: 1) This location closes at 6 pm on weekdays, and occasionally closes a few minutes early without notice. This is something of a pain if you have a 9-5 job and have to arrive to get your mail at 5:45. 2) The middle management seems genuinely puzzled by a customer's preference for a store that keeps regular hours. I have abided by the first problem for awhile because changing my address would be a lot of work. At some point, though, paying extra for this post office box is no more convenient than dealing with the UPS guy deciding not to leave packages at the mailbox I already own. read more

Your customer service is terrible. UPS attempted to deliver a package to me on 12/13/2017 but could not because apparently no one was home. However, no note was left at our door. Then UPS attempted to deliver a different package to me on 12/14/2017 and again no note was left at our door. It wasn't until a day later did I check the tracking number to find out that my package was delivered to your UPS Store. My first question: How are we suppose to know that our package wasn't delivered to our place and instead waiting at a UPS Store if no note was left at the door? Since I work from 8:00am to 5:00pm (with an hour commute), there was no way I was going to be able to physically come pick up the package since your store closes at 6:00pm. So I asked my fiancé to pick up the package for me. I gave him the tracking number, the confirmation from the sender, and a copy of my ID. He was able to pick up the package from 12/14/2017 with no problem whatsoever. We did not pickup the 12/13/2017 because we didn't know about it a day later (again, due to no note being left at our door). My fiancé went back the next day to pickup the package that was left at your store on 12/13/2017. Again, he had the tracking number, the confirmation from the sender, and a copy of my ID. However, this time you guys would not release the package to us. The reason given was that I physically had to pick up the package myself. Well, as I stated before I work like most normal people from 8-5 and unless I take off work early, there was no way I could make it to your store before the 6PM closing time. I have bills to pay so I wasn't going to take a couple hours off to pickup a package that my fiancé was able to pick up the first time. My fiancé attempted to pick up the package again a few days later. This time with the tracking number, the confirmation from the sender, a copy of my ID, AND a utility bill. Again, your store would not release the package. That is completely ridiculous. So my second question: How much proof do you need? Would a DNA sample be enough? I am able to pick up prescription drugs for my grandparents easier than this. Your store cost me and my fiancé time and money just to pick up a birthday present that my mother sent to me. I have lost complete trust in UPS. From the delivery guy (leaving no note) and your store's employees (not releasing packages with plenty of proof). If I send packages again I will make sure to never use UPS. In addition, my company was recently considering switching from FedEx to UPS and I will be informing them to stick with FedEx due to the poor customer service received from UPS. read more

I'll never do business here. Went with a small package and the woman started packing with peanuts. I asked if that cost bc I didn't need it, everything fit tight in the small box. She then quoted me $40 to ship a light shoebox sized box. I told her no, so she said she would charge me $10 for the peanuts and box. She hatefully huffed and started dumping my stuff out. ... also, she kept MY wrapping tape and my inflatable packaging material I bought from an office store. I've been doing business at this store for the past 3 years and I'll never be back again. I paid 154.48 to overnight a Christmas package to my uncle in a nursing home. It's his first Christmas in a nursing home, I sent books because he loves to read. My package never showed up. It's been lost and no one can find it. I've been waiting for 2 days, like I was told by an employee and now they are closed. I can't get a refund until they file a claim and they won't file a claim unless they track my package, which they can't find. This is the second time they've lost a package I've sent overnight. I made an appointment over a week ago with this facility to get a live scan fingerprinting done. By the time I got there and waited in line and got to the front, I was told that they no longer do live scan fingerprinting. So why was I able to make an appointment? The lady told me that the online system is still allowing people to make appointments but they don't do it anymore. Why the hell is that system still in place when the service is no longer available?
