David (the owner) and his small team rock! I have been a box holder at this store since 2013. The previous owners where not at all organized and service was limited. When David arrived he made some functionality to the place with the upgrades he made. Whenever, I arrive for a package they can quickly locate my items and send me on my way, plus as a box holder I receive a discount on supplies and save on my shipping costs. Sometimes things change and not for the better. The person who helped me today, seemed like he really didn't want to be there. No smile, and mumbled through the transaction. I showed him who the package was going to with the address on my phone, he left some stuff off, when I brought it up he said it will get there. I asked him to change it. He did but it still wasn't formatted properly. Is it so hard to type in an address as it's given to you. When he did the correction, he wasn't happy that I asked, so I didn't bother pointing out that it's still not exactly right. There are two other UPS stores in the area, I'll head out to them. I came out in the weather via an Uber yesterday afternoon to pick up my mail (including packages). The place was CLOSED! No note on the door stating that they would be closed. I called the store and their message had not been updated EITHER. So, I left my name and number and asked them to call me when they WOULD be open. Let's see if THAT happens. I've used this UPS location for over a year now. It's convenient, but there's always "something" - and not a GOOD something. But have no fear, they won't miss reminding you about your upcoming payment for mailbox renewal! The staff is the worst. They think because they are dealing with a community that has very few options that they can treat their customers any kind of way. I tried to work with the organization because they are Black owned, but they are consistent with terrible service. They are unable to keep up with the number of customers that they have because they are generally dysfunctional and inefficient. I am so disappointed, but the behavior is typical of people who are self loathing and ignorant. The staff loses any packages that do not have tracking numbers and in effect ruined two friendships because they don't think it's important to actually provide customer service. This by far has to be the worst run UPS Store in the city. I ship a lot of packages. As a painter I probably ship 5-10 per week and this store is always bad. I normally don't write negative reviews and I try not to do that to places in my community but it's really a shame. Today, I decided to try them again. I walk in and there are 3 employees. 1 is working diligently trying to help someone with a bunch of packages the other 2 spend 20 minutes trying to find a book for a lady that they lost. After waiting all that time, an no acknowledgement of the other customer in the room (I was next mind you) one of the guys says "I'll take whoever us just dropping a package off" I just turned a walked out. Nastiest ATTITUDES ever! A customer was already going off when I came in! I was trying to send a package to my Mom for Valentine's day. She's a disabled veteran on very fixed income. Apparently, the customer isn't always right! I went in for simple scan, one page to email. Well the guy sent the scan and told me to check my junk file. I waited and waited nothing! Again I was told to check junk. However, I continue to assert I had! I've done this b4 and it always hits my inbox. Finally I had had it,I asked for a refund. Paying $3.84 for one page is crazy when you can do it from your phone. But usually my scan looks real crappy and this was kinda of important. The employee sent it again. The staff and management of this location leaves much to be desired. They are rude, dismissive, I've watched them throw and otherwise mishandle deliveries because they're frustrated by having to work. I'd blame the employees only-but we all know that people will only do what they're allowed. Since the pandemic happened poor service has become subpar and the fact that they loose packages and act as if it's of no consequence-it's a wonder that no one has ever jumped the counters. I was in to mail a quick package. I was able to grab an envelope to put the item in. I asked the young lady behind the counter who was helping me, if she could put tape on the envelope to secure the merchandise inside. She said yes. The transaction was complete and she was rushing me out the door. I had to remind her to put the tape on the envelope. Then she put two little pieces of tape on the corners. When I go to other UPS Stores this is a given service and they put packing tape across the opening. I understand these are independently own but I would prefer consistent service. Since my apartment complex will no longer sign for packages I had mine diverted here. I give CJ my name and he says they don't have a record of me in the system. Give him the tracking number and he says it shows it was delivered there but they don't have a record of the package. Asked who is Tim as he signed for it and was told Tim signs for all the packages. I don't understand this at all. Asked about the manager and was told he will not be in until after 3 p.m. tomorrow. Asked who is above him and was told he is the owner, I think his name is David. Asked is this the first time this has happened, what is the protocol and CJ says this has never happened before. Will update my review if I get a satisfactory explanation of where my package could possibly be. read more

I am more of a food yelper but this place warranted my opinion. I had too come here to ship a couple of different packages and I must say that the two employees working there don't really seem to like their job very much. It definitely shows in the customer service. Not even a hello, more like a grunt here and there. The guy helping me seemed like I was inconveniencing him by coming into the store to use UPS services. Very fast service, neat and organized. The staff was courteous and handled my return without a problem. I think for some the $1 charge for use of the tape may be a bit of a turn off. For me, this store far surpasses the service at FedEx down the street. read more

This business is very poorly run. They do not communicate with box holders time of hour changes for holiday hours. You can not contact the store directly during business hours. The rough handle your packages. Sliced one box open within centimeters of the product purchased and I did not receive the package slip that came with my order. Worst customer service experience ever. Angelo who works in the store told me that he was too new to tell me how to track my package and add notes to my package that was still in limbo in there system. He then told me to call the "downtown location" in order to have my package sent directly to his store which is closest to my home. When I asked for the information to the downtown location, he said he didn't have that information and that I would need to call every store downtown to switch the delivery of my package. This is embarrassing that UPS new hires don't no basic hub contact information to support customers. read more

My mom wanted to ship a small box down to Florida and they wanted almost $70 to ship it. Despite the neighborhood, this UPS store is a prime example of how customer service suppose to be. I shipped the seven of the largest boxes right before closing time. I did not feel rushed, I did not feel pressure. David and Storm helped my cousin and I tape all of the boxes and label them. We left out the store at 7:20 with a closing of 7. He helped me save money by giving me options of shipping and smiled the entire time. I would go to 35th location over Roosevelt location any day. read more

I would be remiss if I didn't update my review, as this location is under new management! The service levels are exponentially better than before. I renewed my mailbox and I no longer have packages sent there with fear that I'll never see them. While it once took the staff 20 minutes to find a package, the new staff now recognizes me upon arrival and produces my package within seconds. The old staff has been replaced, so no more grumpy older guy or woman who paints her nails while working. The new staff is completely professional and delightful and I am no longer shopping for a new mailbox location! read more

I have illness that make it difficult to get around. I have get someone to take and I can't stand for along period of time without pain. I went to this UPS store at about 9:40 am on 6/8/2020 the security person was sitting in front of the she got up and went inside. She didn't anything to anyone. The sign taped to the door stated they will open at 10:00. At 10:00 the lights in the store was still off and no one had arrive. On 6/05/2020 Friday the system was down. Now, I am much more of a foodie than someone to post a HORRENDOUS review of a service like this, but I actually chose to ship one of my packages via USPS rather than stay here. Apparently the rain leaked through the roof of this building last night. A specific employee was moaning and groaning, coughing, and snorting, shuffling around making all sorts of noise with a big old scowl on his face. He had some sort of shouting match over the phone with another customer regarding insuring a package. He also was unable to remember the price of the envelope I was using so I was randomly charged $3.00 for it without actually knowing how much it costed. The woman at the counter got into an argument with this employee telling him to drop his attitude. She mentioned she would "talk to him after the customer left." At this point, only one of my packages had been taken care of. I chose to leave rather than stick around in the unwelcoming and clearly tense environment. It's unfortunate that this location cannot/will not service the community it's located in, a more efficient, dignified manner. The older woman who works here in the morning is very kind but she's the only one on duty, can't move around to fast due to her physical limitations, and can't possibly service everyone quickly. The computers available for rent here are super slow. I'm here this morning wanting to ship something. There are no hours posted outside of their door, the doors are closed. The absolute worse UPS store I have ever been to. Manager was rude, indignant and treated me like a criminal. Asked for my ID even before he knew my method of payment. Just because I had recently shipped items for my daughter's school band program using the directors name but my number for contact, the UPS manager assumed I was up to illegal activity. I have been to numerous UPS and FedEx stores and have never experienced this type of treatment. Stay away from this store. read more

I really wanted to use this facility as my GO-TO for my corporate print needs but unfortunately they are just not equipped. I placed an order online, just like I usually do via FedEx/Kinkos or other UPS stores and was going to have it picked up here. I needed 400 copies. It said it would be ready the next day at 1 pm and charged my credit card. It said all was on time. I called the store at 1:30 pm the next day to confirm my order was ready for pick up, and I was told by the worker that she had not even looked at her orders from yesterday. I said that was fine and that it was a VERY simple order of printing 400 copies of a 2 page PDF on card stock (which is what I paid for). She said, 'oh no, i can't do that, i don't even have card stock'. Hmmm...why was my order accepted and credit card charged then??? Long story short, the order had to be cancelled because she did not have the materials on hand and would not until later that week. Aside from being VERY upset to begin with - my order was cancelled BEFORE I was asked and the email said it would take up to 2 weeks to refund my money!!!!! OUTRAGEOUS for THEIR mistake! I called the UPS store on 3231 S. Halsted and had THE BEST SERVICE I have ever had! They are MATCHING the pricing, printing for me THE SAME DAY and all from one phone call!!!
