This UPS store consistently lies to customers. I tried to drop off a return from Amazon and was told I could not ship it because it is in a manufacturers box. They said the online instructions say it's a "Customer Pack", which means the customer packs it. Last time they said this, I asked what that means and they said it could not have any business logos or photos on the box. So this time my box was completely blank save for one sticker, which I suggested I could remove. I was told I could not ship it and that it had to be packed in another box. So, once again I drove to the University Place UPS store and they took my box. I asked if there are any restrictions on the box I ship something back in, they told me only if the box is too big then it is considered an oversize. I should have known they would do this because it isn't the first time. So, save your money and go to the UP store. Unless you want to be lied to and forced into buying their boxes out of convenience. read more

The absolute worst experience I've ever had at a UPS. I travel a lot for the military and deal with UPS's often. The manager Sofia lied to me multiple times after I delivered my medication there through usps. She said they send it back right away if we don't have a mailbox. Sorry, I didn't want to open a mailbox. I previously sent 2 packages from Amazon a week prior here with no hassles. I told her since she lied and held my package. I had to get the medication for 3x the price, since she held my package hostage because I didn't open a mailbox there. Long story short they will gouge you for your money. The UPS store in Lakewood is not UPS. It is a franchise that doesn't adher to the requirements of UPS. They are scamming the general public including how they run their business. If someone sends a package to be delivered by a specific date and time and they fail, they will not refund your money. They provide an excuse that is false. Sadly we are stuck with little to no options for shipping. The Lakewood, WA UPS store lacks integrity and gladly takes as much money from you as possible with no value in return. I stopped in at this UPS store to drop off an Amazon return. My Amazon return was no label and No packaging required. A very friendly counter clerk helped me right away. She scanned my return code, and asked if I would like a receipt. I replied, yes, I would like a receipt. Also, I said, the little envelope is not sealed shut. "Not a problem" the gals says and hands me the receipt. As I'm saying thanks to the gal, the manager who was standing behind her, says, "you are required to seal the package and attach a return Label ma'am." The clerk, looking confused says, "no, it's Amazon." About the same time I also said to him something like, "yeah, that is not what the instructions say." He then proceeded to tell me that I was wrong. To which I replied, "show me where it says, I am required to package and label the return, because sir, what I see says the exact opposite." I came to drop off an Amazon return and the associate would not accept my return unless he charged me for printing my label, buying a box and packaging the return, a small paper shredder. I tried explaining that I always bring returns and they go in a bag. Had to return an item from Amazon at a UPS store, my box wasn't "sealed" so the employee tried to charge me $4.99 plus tax for 15 inches of box tape. Forget that, I refuse to do business with UPS again after this ridiculousness. What a terrible scam?! Update: I taped up my box and went to a different UPS location and they were gladly helping people out with tape for free, so now I know this guy in Lakewood was just being petty. This location I do NOT reccomend, go to the university place location PLEASE!!! They're friendly over there. The UPS Lakewood location charges 5$ for a single strip of tape, no one else does that. The manager always seems to be sick and is always coughing all over the place and will have her mask pulled down while coughing??? I was being helped by a tall slender lady who was so sweet, and the manager even walks up, stands directly behind her and berates her. Made Me feel very at home, but then whoever the Manager was came over and got onto them infront of Me and really made things awkward. I've had other friends tell Me the same thing when they go there to have things shipped out. I would say she definitely needs to take it down a notch and loosen up her leadership style because its very discomforting walking in and seeing the Worker's smiles turn into frowns when she walks by. I wish I could give the store zero stars... how do I even start.. I went to this UPS store on July 7, 2021 to ship my camera. THE MANAGER at the store attended me, he'd asked what was inside the package, I told him a camera, he asked for the value of the camera, I said $1500, he then asked if I wanted insurance, I asked if I chose the "sign to deliver option" if I would still need insurance, he then replied that I would be fine with that option so I decided to not put insurance because of this (thinking they were gonna be responsible for any loss).. almost a month has passed and my camera is missing, last place it was seen was in a UPS facility. Now UPS is telling me that I'm only getting $100 for the lost package.. this is not justifiable, UPS needs to compensate for my livelihood! If I don't get compensated accordingly, I will have to take this matter into legal terms. read more

I go in here decently regularly and I never struggle with them being rude to me or making me pay more than I should for packaging that they could easily do they don't mind taping on labels for me. Honestly, I don't understand why the climate is so rude and hostile. The employees (specifically, Vince on July 1st) act as though they are doing you a favor. When in fact, businesses do not operate without customers. This was not the first time I have encountered poor customer service at this store. Love this location... all the employees and staff are so friendly and helpful. They even alway pleasantly handle my international packages even though it is alot of paperwork and time consuming on their end. Been a box holder at UPS Lakewood #4866 for a few years now. Loved the original staff, very friendly, always upbeat and learned my box number so quickly, they would grab my packages before I could even get to the box to retrieve my mail and reminder slip, not what I expected at all, but it was much appreciated. Great customer service always!! No issues with packing items for shipment. New ownership I believe in the last year or so, lots of rough spots to overcome with new staff the first few months, understandable but frustrating at times. Seriously considered closing my box and moving elsewhere a time or two, but the location is close and the hassle of change of address convinced me to give it a bit more time. I have seen an improvement in service, even during the recent holiday rush, so decided a review was in order. With all that said, two team members, have been outstanding since day one, Jyofi and Justine. Both are very friendly, always a greeting as you walk in, and on top of their job duties 100%. It's always a pleasant experience when they are behind the counter. Now, if they could only do something about that parking lot. Congestion is an understatement. read more

The folks at this UPS store are pretty fantastic. I've dealt with them countless times when picking up packages and shipping. They are always very helpful, considerate and generally polite. A lot of times I see them dealing with difficult customers (people who have a hard time understanding what they are clearly saying) and it's frustrating to see because it's not their fault, yet they remain polite despite the stubbornness, or confusion of customers. Went to the Lakewood UPS store at 2:45 pm on Saturday 19 Oct to ship out a two piece Tuba. The larger piece was the body at 44 pounds. The young female working the receiving and weighing station nearest the front door, took my 44 pound package off the scale turned around walked two or 3 steps and dropped it from about 3 feet off the ground so that it slammed on the floor with a loud thud. I could not believe an employee would be so callous as to drop any package 3 feet and in plain sight of the customer. I immediately told her that she was mis handling a $4,000 dollar Tuba and she may have dented the elbow when she dropped it. Her response was equally shocking, "well if you have insurance then you can file a claim"! I told her that dropping any package 3 feet is wrong and certainly does not bode well with customers and there was no reason that I or any customer should be subjected to that kind of mis handling. Now I have to wait 5 days before I find out from the recipient if there was any damage caused by her mis handling. I will not be served by this employee again and I will be sure to ask the clerk to handle my shipment with care. This was totally unacceptable.......be warned and be prepared when you go to that store......... read more

Do not use this store. They are very disrespectful. Not only were they rude to me they used racial slurs about the white woman that was on the phone who was not happy with the service. They spoke to her very rude on the phone and they proceeded to discuss what they thought about the customers while I was standing there. She never asked me for what level of insurance I wanted on a package so when the process was almost complete I asked and she told me that I should have told her that I wanted insurance at the beginning. Took time out of my work schedule to drive here to drop off a return that was sent to me incorrectly. Told them it needed to go back to the business. The next day.... the same package is dropped back at my door. When I call they tell me it must be a driver error and to drive back up there to redo.... or spend 20 - 30 minutes on the phone with UPS about it.... either way I'm the one who has to jump through circus hoops to get the job done right apparently. Called UPS and they wanted to charge me to p/u and my best bet was to drive back in the store. The rep said the store clerk should have verified the ship from address using the tracking number but sometimes the UPS store reps "cut corners" since they are either not trained well enough or just don't care. Two days later.... the driver brings the package AGAIN to my address although I THREE TIMES put the ship to address on the box and packaging. Finally the driver said he would take care of it which has me concerned the package is in UPS Hell. Overall, it doesn't matter whose fault it is gas is too much to drop the ball for something that seems as lazy as this. Making people drive twice because you didn't do your job and then come to your house twice on a package clearly marked to ship to another is unacceptable and just adds to the UPS and FEDEX urban legends about "we don't give a crap" motto. Maybe that should be plastered on the side of their trucks now. read more

I was in the Lakewood UPS store on October 9, 2018 and received possibly the worst customer service I have ever received in any business I have been in. No surprise (given the poor packing that I witnessed) that my shipment, which was of irreplaceable value and I explained that to the staff, arrived broken. I have called (253) 983-0454 multiple times and it goes directly to a voicemail with a full mailbox. Again, no surprise given the lack of professionalism in this UPS store.
