The customer in front of me kindly let me go ahead while she searched for her code. When I turned, I caught the manager just standing there, glowering at me with cold, eagle-like eyes -- silent, not saying a single word, but making the whole moment feel intimidating and hostile. When he finally scanned my first item, he asked in a low, menacing tone if that was the only code. I replied politely, 'Oh, I have two more items.' All of a sudden, he shouted, 'IS THIS THE CODE FOR THIS ITEM?!' so loudly that everyone heard -- the woman in front of me, the people behind me, even the UPS carrier picking up boxes. He ignored me when I tried to confirm, roughly scanned the rest, slammed the label onto the package, then turned away. Right after shouting at me, he became soft-spoken and smiling with the woman in front of me, leaning in to carefully check her code -- the complete opposite of how he had treated me. Even when I said 'thank you,' he deliberately ignored. What struck me most was his split personality -- hostile, aggressive, and humiliating toward me, then seconds later soft, smiling, and patient with another customer. I love this UPS Store! We have another one on Oakton in Skokie but it can be harder to park there, being on such a busy main Street; whereas this location on Touhy has a small parking area in their driveway. Usually I can pull up and be in and out in minutes! Super convenient. They are one of the return locations for Amazon which is convenient also, when I don't feel like going in Kohl's. read more

Terrible experience.. walked in to return a merchandise item to its merchant and the person there was having a bad day and decided to project that onto me after I simply asked him to scan the barcode on my phone in order to generate a label that will print out. I needed to print out some pages sent to me so I could sign and return them. First of all I would never have been able to manage it without the extensive help of one of the staff here. I won't go into why it was so complicated but trust me it was. In the end the staff person managed it in spite of numerous complications. He never got frustrated which amazed me. After it was printed I needed to call the company and review the papers with them. He provided me with a stool to sit on and a pen to use. After spending a lot of time and energy they charged me for the printing and the envelope and nothing for the effort that went into figuring out how to get the document printed. After leaving this UPS so often in a chipper mood after receiving great customer service from a very amiable man behind the counter, today was the absolute opposite! The man filling in for the usual clerk was rude, abrasive, abrupt, negative, with a negative opinions about every and anything that was mentioned (in the one other customer and 5 minutes I was in the store I was regaled with sour opinions of the county, lawyers, taxes, Amazon, and his own customers); and then told that "as UPS does not work for Amazon, we will no longer be taping up and labeling Amazon returns for free." Not only is this a poor reflection on this individual shop, which I will no longer patronize; but it is a sad commentary on the communication and relationship between Amazon & UPS. No wonder they're are so many attempts to transfer Amazon shipping to another vendor. When there are so many alternatives in the area, it causes me distress to think that this poor franchise owner has staff of such inferior quality; it's obviously going to start causing him to lose business, which is always unfortunate. read more

Wouldn't take a package to be returned for Amazon for no reason! He said I needed a different box. It was the box it came in and totally sealed. No bar codes etc. Amazon said that he was wrong but wanted to talk to him. He hung up on Amazon when they called him! He wasted 90 minutes of my time between driving and the 30 minute phone call with Amazon. I had to have it switched to a kohl's drop off. read more

Careless with his customers. I made appointment a day ahead to get important papers notarized and arranged for 2 "witnesses" to meet me there. When I walked in for the appointment he claimed he emailed me to cancel it that morning. Of course there was no such email. I DID get a reminder email just a couple hours before though. So if that could reach me, then his email should have. He just was busy and didn't want to service the appointment.....Not only wasting our time but completely careless of why folks might need something notarized/witnessed. It's important stuff. I have just had the worst experience with this UPS shop, I am almost without words. This UPS store was entrusted with packing and shipping hundreds of family photographs as well as framed pictures and artwork from my late father's apartment. I carefully organized and separated the envelopes of photographs into several small bins to assist with a safe transit. When the box arrived in NY I was horrified. The store kept my bins and all the photographs were dumped into one box as if they were being tossed in a dumpster, and several frames were damaged, one with lots of broken glass. Awful!
