To respond to the UPS Store: No, its services are not world-class. I booked a notary appointment online, showed up at the store and was scolded by the person who worked there since there were no notary services available. Yes, the person who worked there had emailed me about 30 minutes before the appointment to let me know that notary services were not offered, but fussing at me for showing up to the appointment were not acceptable. UPS Store Worker: "Yes?" Me: "Hi, I booked an appointment for a notarization, please." UPS Store Worker: "I emailed you! We don't have notary services!" Yes, the store emailed me 30 minutes before the appointment, but not everyone checks email every few minutes when out running errands, and it's reasonable for someone not to get an email like that in time. Oh our neighborhood UPS Store, how I wish you had kinder workers. It opened 10 minutes late on Friday, a line already formed since 9am with 7 people waiting... I was told (with an attitude) that he's not taking Amazon returns because it's down. Um, well can you fix it, can you call? For the next 15 minutes, here are all the direct quotes.. - I don't get paid enough to do this - There are other customers, I'm not going to wear myself thin - I need to call but it'll take 45 minutes (it literally took 5 after he actually committed to it) - Amazon doesn't pay me to do this - I need to wait for my coworker to call because I have other customers (I'm the only one in the store) - I have other things to do (um, isn't helping customers first?) - A lot of swearing at the machine. So with a transaction that should have taken maybe 15 seconds took 15 minutes, most of which was the worker complaining instead of trying to help. Hey I get it, things don't work all the time. But this is a customer service shop, if you're unhappy helping customers, work somewhere else where it isn't required. I wouldn't have been so annoyed if he showed kindness and actually trying to do his job instead of complaining and doing everything else besides helping me. read more

Kevin is not nice and clearly hates that dealing with Amazon returns is part of his job description. This is the fourth or fifth time I've come where I've heard similar complaints to other comments here that "he doesn't get paid enough to deal with this". I'm fairly certain that he lies about the machine being down so that he doesn't have deal with Amazon. It happens 50% of the time I go there that he is working and 0% of the time when the other employee is working. I do not have this problem at other UPS locations. This is a customer facing job so he probably should find a job that doesn't require dealing with people. read more

The service is very good at this store, but the two employees I've seen are unsmiling and seem very unhappy. This is New York City, where there are many demanding customers, and they are stuck in a very small store with boxes all around them. Would the manager consider offering them a higher salary, even if it is higher than people manning UPS stores in other parts of the country? I think that UPS should raise the salaries of all Manhattan store reps. The fees are very high, higher than Fedex, but the Fedex people are pleasant, partly because they work in a bigger space and maybe they get paid more. This store is in Sutton Place and is convenient to a lot of people who live here. I think UPS should show their employees some appreciation. I do not know them, and they have not been particularly kind to me. Just an observation. read more

Went into this location this afternoon with a return from a store. I was told my barcode that the store told me to scan was not the right kind of barcode. The issue I had is with the employees attitude. I politely told him what the store had sent me and showed him a picture to which he gave me an attitude saying he'd "been working here for a couple of years I think I know what I'm talking about." He looked absolutely miserable and was just rude. There were 2 employees there and both looked like they hate their job and just have not been nice any time I've come into the store. Some employees with better customer service skills might be beneficial at this location. read more

This is the best UPS store on the East Side. I have shipped several high end guitars out of here and Anjan and his staff do a beautiful job, making sure that the instruments are well protected and securely wrapped. They are pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and a bon to the neighborhood. The shop is very small so it is sometimes crowded and there may be a bit of a wait, but that is because they take care to give every customer what they may need. My go-to for all shipping! read more

I have been doing business with this UPS store for over a decade, and have always had great experiences. Today, an interaction with Kevin left me surprised at how "penny wise and pound foolish" an employee can be regarding customer service. I came to the shop to make several Amazon returns. Amazon's new QR code returns system required different packing treatment for different items; 3 items required no box and could be handed directly to the UPS staff person, who was charged by Amazon with packing them and printing the label. Two of my Amazon return items required that they each be in a separate box, which I dutifully brought with me. Kevin was not the employee helping me, but he chimed in to remind his coworker that if I did not also bring tape for my boxes, he would have to charge me $2 per box to seal them. I said that seemed a little high and he said that "no one gives them tape, so why should they give me tape." Fair enough point, though rudely expressed. He said that they would seal one box on the house, if I paid for the other. I replied that I live close by and would just go get some tape. He said, "or you can just give us 2 dollars." And I probably would have , if he hadn't been rude. I left and retuned with my own packing tape -- and scissors, lest I be charged for the privilege of cutting my tape with theirs. I can afford the two dollars, and I don't disagree with the policy per se. I do object to being spoken to rudely. Kevin had a choice here, and chose the low road. He could have been gracious and polite, saying, "I'm sorry, I'm not sure if you are aware but we are required to follow a store policy of charging $2 per parcel to seal the boxes. If you'd like to bring your own tape next time, we are happy to do it for you as a one-time courtesy today." But instead, he acted as though I had arrived with the intention of what...bankrupting the business through tape theft? It was so unnecessary to be nasty. Anjun (whom I believe is the owner or manager) is a lovely, gracious, kind fellow, but when he is not on the premises, the experience changes. read more

I entered your store at approximately 12:30 in the afternoon on 7/2. There was one customer being helped by your employee so I was waiting near the door, looking at my phone to ensure I had my Amazon return codes ready for when it was my turn. While I was scrolling through my phone attempting to locate the code, I thought I heard someone say that "we cannot scan AMAZON codes today". I looked up because another customer had now entered the store as well. I asked if I heard correctly that Amazon codes could not be scanned, to which your employee said "If you were paying attention instead of looking at your phone you would have heard me". I said excuse me, it was just a question to clarify what I heard since I was looking for the code. He said again, even more rudely that the first time, that I should be listening instead of looking at my phone. He had an angry look on his face when he said it as well. I asked if there was a manager available to speak with because I didn't like his attitude to which he responded that he was the acting manager. I confirmed his name as "Kevin". I asked that a manager reach out to me and he said he doesn't pass messages. I then asked him how I could contact a manager and he just simply gave pointed to the business cards on the desk. I left and the customer behind me that witnesses this just shook his head and shrugged. This is completely unacceptable customer service. I run a large customer service organization if one of my employees ever spoke that disrespectful to a customer, I would terminate that employee. This needs to be addressed by you ASAP. read more

I worked with Kevin at this UPS Store location. In times of COVID, Kevin is especially patient, friendly, and understanding. He went above and beyond his day to day role in helping me figure out how to return my Verizon equipment. I just moved to this neighborhood and am happy to have this location right up the street, I could not recommend it more. read more
