Backstory: it was my ex-roommate's birthday, and one of our good friends suggested we all pitch in for her to get a used PS4 since hers broke a few months back. She had a very specific model and price range in mind, which is why it was taking time to find a replacement. I realized that I had an old PS4 laying around, and when her birthday Zoom happened, I offered to send it to her. Enter: The UPS Store, because there is no way I trust my packing skills to get that baby over to her intact! It's good to come here during off-peak hours, like mid-week around 2-3pm. There was no wait, they were adequately staffed, and everyone was nice. Seriously- no attitudes were given. I could actually tell the employees were smiling under their masks! I had them pack up and ship the console via ground to Brooklyn. In this case, the packing service cost more than the shipping: $24 vs $16, respectively. It all turned out great in the end: ex-roomie received it in 2 days, nothing was broken, and after plugging in and re-doing her settings, she confirmed she is on her way to ascending to Valhalla! read more

Once she rung me all up I looked at my receipt and noticed that she charged me an additional $3 (packing service fee). This is some fee that they charge if they are the ones that are gathering your materials and packing everything into your box for you. Well I could easily saved that $3 if she had told me that she was going charge me for that. It's only three dollars which isn't a whole lot to go nuts over but at this point I don't feel it is fair to not be totally upfront and informed about what fees you're charging me. Maybe she was misinformed or not adequately trained about this fee? If the manager of this location reads this review please make sure that all of your employees know to let customers know whenever you are charging them for that $3 packing service fee. I could've easily gathered my own items and shipped my things in the box. All I needed was the box I did not need for her to ship it together and gather everything. This was a pair of shoes that I was shipping where I was trying my best to save all costs and because of her not telling me that she was charging me $3 to put everything together I lost money on the sale. Again three dollars is not the end of the world however for the next customer they could've been pretty pissed off. I'm sure I could have asked her to remove the charge but at that point there was a line of people behind me, this store was hot because the AC wasn't working and they had fans blowing, And I didn't feel like going through the whole returns process. Rude and unhelpful. I realize that everyone has off days but seriously rude, unhelpful staff, inaccurate pricing, wrong information from employees, and an overall negative experience trying to ship anything here. I wish I could have that much attitude at my job and get away with it. To sum up the experience in one word: rude. For a more in depth examination of the ineptitude of this location, I present this scenario of measuring and pricing my box online with the addresses, going into this location, being told a different amount, asking why, then finding out the individual is trying to express air my package even though I asked for ground. I let them know I want ground again and get a huge attitude that it's expensive because it's going to another state (let's ignore it's $50 more expensive because they've chosen air and not ground). The attitude at this location is just unreal. Drive a little bit further down the street to the competitor who has accurate pricing and super friendly staff. I had to cancel my wedding 60 days out and started to freak out. With no time to order announcements i snagged an Etsy Template, picked you some decent paper and rushed to UPS. The staff (Yasan, Jessica, & Tori) were incredibly helpful. They helped me resize and Rama few copies on printer paper to make sure it was exactly what i wanted. First time I went to this location, I found the Team, very helpful. All my request for various services were handled promptly. I did encounter a minor problem, that was due to overnighting to an outdated address. Pkg. delivery attempts were made, finally, UPS found the updated (correct) delivery address, and did in fact take care of the issue, without involving me. Needless to say I am very happy! read more

This is my neighborhood UPS store. I use them for all of my shipping needs. They are fast and always offer to find the lowest priced shipping option for me. They are always super friendly and helpful too. On my latest trip to their store the line was out the door but I was still in and out in less than five minutes. I was so impressed!! I have used this UPS store at least a dozen times. If there is a line it moves quickly. The staff has always been helpful and attentive to what they are doing. I recently had a number of electronics packed and shipped. It was a costly venture but the electronics were expensive. They handled everything. The items were well wrapped in bubble with peanuts in the appropriate size boxes. The deliveries have all been on time and arriving in good condition. This is my go to shipper/mailer. read more

It's a shame there isn't a police station next door because I was a victim of highway robbery here. I brought in something that I was persuaded to let them professional pack. I brought the box and some bubble wrap. They used a few sheets of their own bubble wrap and fill the rest of the box with with some packing peanuts that couldn't have been more than the size of the $5.99 bag they sell on their own shelf. 5-6 minutes later the employee tells me it will be.....$40. "Pardon me?" I ask as I'm sure I heard her wrong. She repeats the total with a straight face. After a staring contest of a few seconds I tell her that's ridiculous and there is no way I will pay that. She replies instantly with "ok, I'll knock it down to $30". I'm not sure what I'm more enraged about, the attempted initial fleecing or the fact that she pretended like she was doing me a favor. I actually asked her what the cost of them packing the item would be prior to them starting and she assured me that she would find out. Her finding out was doing the 5-6 minutes of work and then trying to extort me. Based on my experience it's clear that there is no rhyme or reason to their pricing on "professional packing" with my own pre-purchased supplies. Admittedly I gave in and forked over $25 so that the NC-17 rated tirade playing out in my head wouldn't leave there and left. This was the icing on the cake with my other interactions with the other listless employees at this location. I would rather personally carry anything I needed shipped across the country on top of my head and walk it there than deal with this particular breed of conniving and incompetence at this location. read more

I can't speak for anyone else's experiences, but mine have been amazing every time here. I work across the street so I pop in about once a week to mail something. Sometimes just a letter with a stamp, sometime with a prepaid label. I've never had to wait in line as they are always well staffed and I think my average transaction is about 45 seconds long. They've always made it super easy for me. For a chore that was once dreaded, I now enjoy taking the short walk over and crossing one more thing off of my checklist. I'm still in shock! I went in to get copies, told them what I was looking to get. The guy was obviously new because I needed several 2-side stapled copies. He told me he would have to do it one at a time because the machine can't do multiples. I told him that was not so - he went to the back and came back with someone who knew what he was doing and started the machine. My problem - never once did anyone tell me the por ask if I really wanted to spend $700 on copies!! I was in shock when they rang up my order!! Let's just say - I won't be back. Yes, I paid- I needed the stuff, but I could have done it myself with my own printer for a lot more - yes, slower, but I'd have saved several hundred dollars. read more

I went in to send a box of golf clubs to a place in Florida. I had looked up on line to get pricing. Online said 2 day ground to that destination was $25. The package I wanted to send had been shipped to me via UPS at 4 pounds. I was just sending it to Florida. When I came in they weighed it and it now weighed 5 pounds! Their scale was OFF. Watch out for this. Than they tried to tell me it would cost $165 because the second day would be via air. I said I wanted 2 day ground and their web site said $25. Yesterday I needed to ship a laptop. I packaged it in the manufacturers well cushioned original packaging and then put that into a slightly larger box. I took this to this UPS store and tried to ship it with insurance. As soon as I said I wanted to insure it, the store manager came over and started trying to convince me that I had to pay them to repackage the laptop in order for the insurance to be valid. I explained that the laptop was packaged in the original packaging PLUS my own additional packaging. He claimed this was not adequate, and that I would need to pay them to package it. Otherwise, he said, if something happened to it, UPS would take apart the packaging and decide that it was inadequate, and not pay the claim. At this point I picked up my well packaged laptop and drove the 1 mile to Fedex. They politely accepted my well packaged laptop and didn't even raise an eyebrow regarding the insurance. I won't be using this store or any other UPS in the future. read more

I went to this store for notary services. Waited a long period of time for notary, who was helping someone with several documents. The notary asked me to wait at end of counter until she had finished with customer in line ahead of me. After waiting 20 minutes, she then proceeded to wait on all other customers in line, instead of helping me. She was not the only staff in the store to help other customers, but was the only notary. This UPS store will charge you $5 to pick up a package if you route it here, and do not have a mailbox rental. I sent a package here because it was alcohol and I wouldn't be home to sign for it. The FedEx store nearby does not charge anything to pick up a package. When I asked a UPS customer rep if this was allowed, she told me that all UPS stores set their own policies. You can be sure that I will use FedEx as much as possible. The only other option the UPS gave me was to route it to a Customer Center all the way across town. I'm lucky that mine is close to work but it is pretty far from my neighborhood. read more

I had previously selected this location as my Access Point to prevent packages from sitting outside of my door for hours at a time. However, according to UPS Corporate my last package was "rejected" because this particular store was at their maximum number of packages for the day. Instead of calling me and asking if I would like the package sent to another location, they sent it to the Customer Care location which is 40 mins away from my house and they are only open between 10-1 on Saturday. I made the drive to the Atlantic Ave location to find out they are short staffed and have not had the truck come over for Saturday so I need to try again on Monday. Unbelievable. read more

My fiance ordered a camera lens that we would not be home to receive, so I had gone to ups' website to have it re-routed to this location. I get an email a couple hours later saying that the package is at the location and to pick it up today. It also says that if the package is not in my name that I would need to not only have my ID but the tracking number as well, the email lists the tracking number. So I believe I'm all set. I get to the UPS store (after driving through I-40 rush hour traffic I might add) and a very rude clerk borderline insinuates that I could be trying to STEAL my fiance's package and that he cannot give it to me. Now, I'm a pretty reasonable person and I could understand the notion not giving a package to someone that has another person's name on it. But WE LIVE AT THE SAME ADDRESS and it's clearly on my ID, but did he ask for that? Nope, he just continually spouted out reasons he could not help me instead of thinking of ways he could. Well, my package ended up not being there anyway (another review for another time) and was delivered to my apartment complex's office, and signed for by a stranger.......My advice for this store and it's staff: Be helpful and don't allude to your customers that you think they are trying to steal. Because trust me, I have better things to do with my time and could really careless about the packages of others, and it's just plain insulting. read more
