The store was cluttered and disorganized. I was told I needed to purchase additional packaging for my Amazon return when I believed it was already adequately packaged. The overall experience left me feeling like the focus was on selling packing materials rather than helping customers. This place is a real money suck, trust me. And if you're going to have an automated QR code scanning station, then perhaps you should have bags that actually fit the items that people need. So I returned an item back for a trade in and the vendor picked UPS. If you don't print it someplace else before you go, they charge you a "Digital File Opening" fee of $6 and $0.40 per black and white page. They have no self printing option (at least none were offered) and so $6.40 later the package gets sent. If you go to FedEx, you can print it yourself for under $0.10 and they don't charge you to print the label. It is the equivalent of making over $720/hour since it takes less than 30 seconds to print a one page attachment from an email. read more

I usually stop in to drop off my amazon packages, and have never had a problem. Today I came in with a random request, I needed the contents that was on a CD burned onto a thumb drive. The lady working went above and beyond to help, she found a computer with a cd reader, and checked to see if it would open the documents, and then saved each document one by one onto the thumb drive, and then charged me just $6! Hate to do this. Rarely write any bad reviews, usually just go on about my day. But today's experience at ups downtown San Diego area caused such an inconvenient. I'm a small business owner who ships out candles on the regular for 5 years now and I've never been asked to write my phone number down on the box. I didn't want my customer to have my personal number. Staff insisted its procedure, I normally scan the box at the self checkout area and leave with a printed receipt. asked her to just scan it so we can move forward but she kept insisting just in case box get damage. I've been using the same packaging for 5 years , never had any issue with ups damaging my box or been asked to write my number on the box. They will return insurance devices and boots bought online and print out a "resume" however, they the staff working "claimed" that the "only computer they have too slow" to print out any art projects or collections of photographs on a usb port or sent via email. They also have mailboxes and will receive packages for you if you have a box there. The staff is all still wearing masks, which since it is pretty small in there is good. They are on Market in East Village so if you aren't walking there could be a difficult location to find parking and there is the homeless situation which is not their fault. Stay away from this store. They have no sense of customer service, or customer needs. They don't pay attention to memos or notes written on packages. They won't call you with a question. They'll just ship it off to where it came from, even if it says you're coming to get it with an exact date!! The first few times I used this location I was in and out quickly and the transactions were smooth. It was great because the location is very convenient for me! They now seem to be going through some new management/new policy stuff that makes it unpleasant to come here. I sent a box out of state, ground. I went to the touchpad to pay but it didn't do anything... because there was a second screen I had to look at to confirm the information. Fine. Then the confirm button didn't work and I had to smear my finger all over it for about 10 seconds before it went through, Then I had to 'read' a long legal notice --but there was a 'scroll to end' button so must not be that important, right? Then it asked for a signature. Then the clerk asked for a physical signature on a small stack of paper. Then I was allowed to pay on the small touch pad. The receipt itself was fine and normal. Unfortunately, stuck to the receipt was a sticker advertising a discount on some service that covered up the QR code for posting a review. Stapled to the receipt was an awkwardly size advertising flier offering a coupon of some sort. Please don't burden your customers with excessive paper and process. Also, trying to monetize every micrometer of visual space with ads is making the entire experience terrible. I will try to find another means to ship packages next time. read more

I just had a horrendous experience at this location. I brought in an Amazon package that clearly states UPS Store will pack and ship for free in the instructions. But as a courtesy, I packed the return anyways. The manager of the store, I believe Suzan, stated she wont accept it because of a sticker in the box. No problem, as I removed the sticker she says YOU CANT DO THAT. Why not? Who knows. Ok, as I mentioned earlier, I just packed it as a courtesy. This paper from Amazon specifies you will pack and ship for free. Manager: 'NO, THATS NOT TRUE.' I had it on my phone and as a print out and she was like NO, Call UPS corporate thats not true... All of this in front of 10 other people in line. So embarrassing. I am still trying to keep my cool and since today is the last day for the return I ask for how much is the charge for them to pack it, she says $25 dollars... for a small box? What?? Bad service AND overpriced. I've never encountered any issues processing Amazon returns with UPS store except at this location. So I went to the store down the street and guess what? NO PROBLEM. Avoid a headache, drive a few more minutes and stay far away from this store. read more

They are generally friendly & helpful here despite being bare-bones staffed at all times. However, at a recent visit to get a passport photo, I was told my hair MUST be tucked behind my ears. That is absolutely NOT true per many sources including the State Dept. website. The photo didn't turn out great as I'm one of those people who don't look great with their hair tucked behind their ears. Ended up getting the photo retaken elsewhere & having to spend more money. Overall pretty ok service. Staff is friendly, but the location is chronically understaffed, you'll never see more than one person behind the counter. This means you'll almost always be waiting in line and if you're unlucky because there's a patron that decided to drag a cart full of individual Amazon returns to the store, you'll be waiting quite a while. Speaking of waiting in line, this store needs to rearrange their counter. There's no intuitive place to wait in line, so people line up on the stairs and in front of the door. read more

I like this UPS location. I pop in when I have to return something from Amazon and have never had any issues. I don't even need a box! Half of the hassle of a return is having a torn bag or throwing out the box before you realized the item didn't quite work out. They just scan my code and toss my item in the big box that gets sent back with everyone else's Amazon returns. Amazon refunds my money within the hour of the drop off and everything is cool. The employees I've met are friendly and helpful and the next time I need to mail something I know I'd rather come here than wait in that huge line at the post office. Parking can be iffy on the street during certain times of day but if you make a stop into Grocery Outlet to do some shopping you can use their parking lot. Problem solved! read more

This location has inflated prices on mailing material and a $5 setup fee for print jobs regardless of size. ($5.15 for one page). It's a free country but Just feels like taking advantage of people and using Covid as an excuse tbh. No way these stores did worse given the increased business they're seeing. read more

They charge +$6 to print a shipping label. They call it a "digital uploading fee" which you pay in order to simply email them your label so they can use their printer to print it. Totally unjustifiable cost. Most other locations help you print your shipping label for you and will just do it as a courtesy for free. read more

We have had our P.O. Box there for 5 years now and the service is mostly great. There are the once in a while delays on registration of the packages, and the waits are long (but I bet that happens in any PO Box ) . We rarely use it for shopping or any other service but are happy with our packages management and the employees are friendly and know the regulars already ! read more

Suzanne is awesome!! I'm not sure why this store has such bad ratings, but I had a great experience. I waited for about 5 minutes in line, then was called up by Suzanne. She was quick, super efficient, and very helpful. She helped me print and fax my unemployment papers in the blink of an eye- something I have been struggling to figure out without access to a printer or fax machine. She did all this while handling phone calls, deliveries, and other customers all at the same time, with such ease. Worst Service Ever: I just went to drop off a package at your store and dealt with "Eddie" who was insisting on going inside my package. And then told me also that I was not allowed to tape the box shut myself. I ship things at this location all the time and have never been told either that your employees need to go into my private package, nor that I am not able to tape my own box closed. When I brought this up to Eddie, he very rudely says, "I am not any other employee." This is rude unacceptable behavior and an invasion of privacy. I dont know if this man is going to steal things out of my package or what he is doing. I dont know if. He is doing this via racially profiling me or what is problem is but that is unacceptable behavior!. read more
