This shop is way behind, technology-wise and always appears very sloppy, unorganized, and badly in need of dusting. It's also very off-putting when politics are discussed with customers, as well. I assumed I'd get a scanned tracking receipt, like every, single, time I've gotten one at USPS, UPS and FEDERX. A scanned document is evidence of drop off, right? So anyway, I go in and there's a sign that says "Please wait 5 min for prayer." Ummm, okay. I got used to this in Istanbul. But never encountered it here. Nonetheless I was up for the ride. Thankfully, there's a long bench to sit on and I cooled my heels. When a lady appeared and saw my package, she said "We don't have a scanner, I can give you a handwritten note with the number. Because I'd already taken a photo of my own with the tracking number, I didn't much see the point in what she was about to give me. The whole point of shlepping all the ay to the DHL office was precisely so I could get the official scanned document. I must've looked skeptical and hesitant because she said they would pick up the parcel at 5 and ... okay. Given it was going "express," and to Canada, I asked if she would be able to give a rough estimate of when it would get there. She said no, she did not know. Again, this level of uncertainty in a shipping/mailing business--not optimal, not even close. The content of the parcel was expensive and I had high doubts about this operation, which was seeming increasingly rinky dink. Maybe I'm not familiar with DHL processes? Maybe DHL Express is different and they don't have scanners? But they're a shipping business! And they can't invest in a scanner? Are they really that expensive? I'm so confused. Someone at corporate needs to rethink their operation strategies. The lack of scanning on premises at the time of drop off is not confidence inspiring for the customer. It's on the main El Camino drag and parking you can find readily on a cross street.
