I have been going to this UPS location for a bit now and will continue to do so. Easy and efficient. The employees-Sadegh and Ami are always so friendly and helpful. All in all I think the folks that work here are great people, very friendly and very helpful... HOWEVER, I ship here pretty frequently and I generally need to do it in the AM before I head to work, and there has been at least 5 occasions where they have opened late... Today 9/19/19, it's 9:05 AM and they are still not open.... The normal hours are 8:30 AM, WHY CANT YOU GUYS OPEN YOUR STORE ON TIME? :( read more

Absolutely horrible. I asked them for the right sized box for an item I wanted to ship, and they measured my item, and started bubble wrapping it. They put it in a box they had. They didn't tell me ANYTHING about how much any of this would cost. They put WAY TOO MUCH bubble wrap and pushed it into a small box that caused it to bulge out of the box size. He then proceeded to BREAK MY DELICATE ITEM by forcing it into the small box with the excessive bubble wrap - putting his body weight into squashing it down in order to seal the box. Then, he said I needed to print my label which was on Amazon so he said to use the computer which I did. And again, didn't tell me ANYTHING about how much any of this would cost. I thought it was free, since he didn't say anything. I paid for my label online based on the size and weight. Then he proceeded to give me a charge of almost $15 for the box, labor, wrap, computer usage time, printing the label. What the hell? At least tell me it was going to cost this much before doing it. Now I'm left with a BROKEN ITEM because of the horrible packing service which I had to PAY EXTRA for. I will never come back here again, absolutely worst customer service I've experienced in my life. The guy was basically telling me to go to hell. Never coming back to this store again. read more

The clerk at the store is fantastic. He´s always extremely helpful with packaging. He's packed up several big/irregular packages for me - and although it's not cheap he ensures everything is perfect. I don't always ship the packages with them since USPS is much cheaper for some sizes - but when it comes to getting something professionally packed, he's the man. read more

I dropped a package off here with a pre-printed return label. I didn't receive any sort of receipt from the guy working here. When I called to ask if they kept any records on out-bound packages, the man who answered said no, and had an 'I-really-don't-give-a-shit' attitude. He said they weren't responsible for any dropped off packages. No help whatsoever. read more

I had a Christmas gift I needed to ship so I headed over to the San Mateo UPS Stores on 2nd. While I was leaving my office a coworker warned me that this location is awful -- poor customer service, employees with bad attitudes, and she had dropped off a package with a prepaid return label and according to the tracking it was dropped off there be never picked up and went missing. Anyway, I got there at 845AM and they weren't open despite that it is posted on their door and website that they open at 830AM. I waited around for a little while but no one ever showed up to open the store. read more

Went in late this afternoon to get a document notarized. The lady working there, did not catch her name, was very efficient as well as being attentive to the long line that was building behind me. There was an elderly women in the line, and she offered her a chair in the back room to rest. I just don't see this kind of excellent customer service very often. I was out quickly and only charged $15. Did I mention they are open until 6:30pm? Highly recommend. read more

This is a really 1st Class, service-oriented UPS Store (0294) location thanks in large part to a gentleman, named Sandegh. I had just been in a retail FEDEX location in very close proximity to Sandegh's UPS Store, (360 1st Ave.) to ship a styrofoam container trans-continentally to NH via Next-Day delivery & the woman behind the counter informs me that she cannot help me ship my parcel b/c one, she said the styrofoam pkg. needed to be placed inside a corrugated cardboard box & two, that I would need to head to a FEDEX hub location (I can't remember exactly where she said I'd have to go to find a hub, but it didn't sound close; it was in another city) b/c she didn't have any boxes that would fit my parcel exactly. She says all this to me all while I'm standing there looking @large stacks of flattened, corrugated cardboard boxes all neatly standing in rows right behind her, so I ask her: "Can't you just make/create a custom-fitted box, using one of those big boxes right back there?". To which she replies: "Oh no, that would take hours!". So I said "O.K., thanks (for nothing!)" & left feeling completely unfulfilled and went around the corner to Sandegh's UPS Store. I gave Sandegh the same parcel & he said the same thing she said, that my styrofoam parcel would have to be placed inside a corrugated, cardboard box, BUT then he proceeded to measure my parcel, then disappeared momentarily & returned w/a corrugated, cardboard box only slightly larger than my parcel. He taped my styrofoam parcel closed, then dropped it into the cardboard box, he had just retrieved. It fit perfectly inside the overall dimensions of his box; there was just an excess of space in the top of his box. He said in order to not have me pay for that voided space inside his box, he would have to customize the box to fit my parcel exactly, which he did after using a custom-fit tool he had at his disposal. This whole process took all of like a grand-total of like 10 whole minutes!! The Next-Day Air fees weren't cheap ($200+), but I was expecting this. Sandegh didn't charge me for the custom-boxing of my parcel & he didn't hesitate, doing his job for a split second!! Plus his UPS Store location is tiny ( but don't let that fool ya), esp. compared to the FEDEX retail location I was just at, not to mention the fact he worked there all by his lonesome; there were actually TWO (2) women, working @the FEDEX location!!! His service was exemplary, no fuss, no muss & absolutely no excuses why he couldn't help me! Much appreciated, Sandegh, & keep up the great work-ethic! Bottom-line: If you're in San Mateo, CA & in need of shipping services of any kind, I'd highly recommend Sandegh's UPS Store!! Can't go wrong! And stay as far away as possible from the retail FEDEX location around the corner from his location!! read more

I've been using this UPS store for over 2 years now. The staff changed over a year ago and maybe that is the reason for the old negative reviews. There are a bunch of friendly guys who work there. They really know what they are doing when it comes to packaging difficult things. I also have a box there where all my business packages arrive. They send email notifications when anything arrives. It is all very convienent. (That is except the parking. That's downtown for you- I always aim for around 9:30 or 4:30 and have no problem finding a parking space) Lunchtime is the time to avoid. I recommend them. And their rates are competative for po boxes. read more

Small UPS store but the service is prompt, courteous and efficient. In and out in a jiffy - just the way it suppose to be. Only complaint is the street parking in downtown San Mateo is limited - had to circle a couple of times before finding a spot. But that's not the store's fault, so no stars deducted. read more

What a great printing experience! I had called several printing shops trying to find a reasonable rate to print out 350 color marketing flyers and Mickey was understanding, thoughtful and provided the best offer. I called back the next day and talked to Ami and Mickey. They were so helpful and explained the different paper weights and costs. When everything was agreed on, I was able to send over my PDF via email so that it would be ready when I came to pick up. Ryza (praised in other reviews as the lady at the font desk) is awesome. I'm not so happy with UPS but that isn't the fault of anyone at this location. I had gone online and asked for my package to be held at this location for pick-up. When I went to pick it up I explained that, although the package was listed online as being at this location, I had received an email saying it was being held in South San Francisco, which turned out to be the case. I was told that it went there first but should arrive at this location on Monday. When I arrived today, it still wasn't there. Ryza personally got on the phone, patiently navigated through all of the roadblocks in the automated phone system and, after speaking to two people at the SSF location, figured out what needed to be done. Despite the system saying that the "exception" location could not be changed, she was not deterred. She did something amazing to trick the system and my package will be at this location by tomorrow afternoon. She did not give up. She kept a very positive attitude throughout the ordeal. And, most importantly, she solved the problem. Ryza rocks! read more

I've used this place several times for their notary services and to drop off UPS pre-paid envelopes and have had very efficient, friendly service each time. The same guy is always there and is always extremely pleasant and courteous. Quick, pleasant service - it probably takes longer to find a parking place than to conduct your transaction here. I've been coming to this store for years, mostly to pick up packages, return items to Amazon, or use their notary service. Sadegh is usually the one that helps me, and he's quick, polite, and efficient. If he sees me standing in line and he's going into the back to collect another person's package, he'll also retrieve mine to save time. If he's serving a customer and the customer needs to take some time to retrieve something, he'll serve another customer while waiting instead of just standing there. It may not sound like much, but it's the little things that make all the difference. Sadegh knows what he's doing, and you can tell that he's not on autopilot, working without thought or care. I have no complaints about the other workers either. Everyone is polite and efficient. I just wanted to call out Sadegh because he really goes above and beyond. Good store. Another "I'd give 0 stars if I could" review. The UPS app, website, and email all said my package was delivered to the store and waiting to be picked up. So on a soggy Saturday morning I trudge down to the store, and after waiting 10 minutes am told that my package wasn't delivered! OK, so I trudge back home and call UPS Customer Service. After several recordings tell me that my tracking number indicates my package is waiting for pickup I finally get an actual human to whom I explain the situation. He says he has to call the store. 10 minutes later he comes back to tell me the store failed to scan my package on arrival, but it is there and ready for pickup! SRSLY? Thanks, UPS Store nothing like making a second trip just because you fail at a fundamental part of your job! read more

I had a document notarized here today only to have the document rejected as it was not properly stamped thereby delaying what I needed to get done by an additional day and wasted trips back and forth for him to fix his mistake. Additionally, the prices are a lot higher IMO than the other shipping store 3 blocks away (the only reason I came here today was due to the need for a notarized document). YMMV. read more

This store is my go-to for packages and returns. The owner and staff are so friendly and helpful, especially with packaging up and ensuring the goods are packed securely. Yesterday UPS systems were down all over the Peninsula, and this store took my package, manually noted the tracking, and put aside to be sent later (it was!).
