I've been a regular customer at this UPS Store for years and have always appreciated the professionalism of most of the team. Unfortunately, I had a very upsetting experience during a recent visit that I feel is important to share. On this occasion, the store did not open at its posted time of 8:00 AM -- instead, it opened at 8:13 AM. I had several Amazon returns ready to go with QR codes in hand. When I entered, I was made to feel uncomfortable by inappropriate comments, which I felt were unprofessional and unwelcome. I asked for a receipt for my returns, but was told the system would take 20 minutes to load, which was frustrating given the delay in opening. When I expressed my concern about the timing and the potential impact on customers, the conversation escalated in a way that left me shocked and extremely uncomfortable. The interaction became verbally hostile and inappropriate, leading me to leave the store. I reported the incident to UPS corporate and spoke with the owner. While the situation was acknowledged, I was disappointed in how the follow-up was handled, particularly given the severity of the incident. I'm sharing this to make others--especially female customers--aware of my experience and encourage caution. I hope the store takes steps to ensure all customers feel safe, respected, and welcome. read more

Im not exactly certain how to distinguish one UPS store from another, but there are a few reasons why I like this one. First, the people here are really friendly and have an attitude of helpfulness. Even if they don't know the answer to a question off the top of their heads, they always seem like they're actively trying to find one (and they generally find the answer). Compare this helpful Aristide to some places where employees seem to shrug their shoulders and throw their hands up and don't seem to be looking for any solutions. This warm friendly group of people at the San Mateo UPS Store can't be beat at customer service. They jump at the chance to assist anyone after greeting each customer at the door. With all the Amazon returns they handle with grace never annoyed at the armful of packages people enter the store with. I had to ship something very heavy and fragile and to my delight it arrived on time and in perfect condition. Horrific!! Marisa was extremely rude, condescending and short after I asked why I am being charged for their printing my Amazon return label. I explained I never get charged to print return labels. No concern for the customer, just curt and rude! At one point she says to me that she has no interest in talking to me about it then went on to say, this is a business we don't give discounts. All in a very agitated tone, talking down to me. I told her she didn't have to be so rude and not be a smart ass. Then she outright lied and said I swore at her and her customer! I NEVER spoke to a customer!! She then banned me from the store and then refused to send my package! I've been coming to this store since the 90's, I have never had an issue here until today for asking a valid question. No empathy for customers! Just a bad attitude, you don't need to ban me I would never come back here! read more

This UPS store has always been so reliable over all the years. I normally do not write many reviews, but when I do it is well deserved. I recently got a problem with one of my Amazon returns where Amazon claimed to not have received my package. I went to this UPS store and spoke with Jay to see how they can help me as I did not have the receipt anymore. Jay went ABOVE and BEYOND to help me! He even gave me a call back to check if I was able to resolve my issue. Almost feels like Jay was more concerned than me. It is great/rare to have someone follow through on their word. Reading the review from Staci G. I would definitely say that she is lying thru her teeth. I was there on that Saturday, as I pulled up to the parking lot, she had both side doors of her SUV open with no consideration for other people to park. When she saw me going out of my car, she rush the door to beat me to the counter while the doors of her SUV is still wide open. She was rude to the clerk behind the counter because the computer says to charge her a minimal sum of slightly above $3. Accusing her of charging her that amount for her own benefit. Being derogatory toward a person who is just doing her job is unacceptable but what is really reprehensible is the way she made the clerk feel like she is sub-human. That is unacceptable! And calling the other clerk who was assisting another customer and explaining the working of the copying machine to assist her first shows her sense of entitlement. Staci, you are not special! I just read the review from Staci G. from Austin Texas on July 21 and wanted to point out how false this report is. I'm a frequent customer of this business for Amazon returns, and this lady caused such a scene. Both employees (Jaymar and Marissa) are new to this business and were shaken up after dealing with her. This lady walked into the store with an attitude upfront and began engaging in a harsh conversation with Marissa, who was trying to do her job. She swore at the staff and caused a scene, over $3 for printing. This lady even made Jaymar stop helping another customer just to help her! I would hate for this inaccurate review to get any of the staff fired for a situation she caused and escalated. I have met the new staff; who are wonderful, incredibly helpful and noticeably hardworking. When you walk in the door, they jump up immediately to assist you, greeting every person warmly. I'm very willing to vouch for these kids. Please take my report seriously, these staff looked like they were straight out of high school and this lady raised her voice at them! read more

This is my favorite UPS store as the staff are welcoming, kind and very professional. Huge shout out to Jay who went above and beyond on a Saturday when my wife and I didn't realize the store had closed at 4pm. We literally got there at 4pm, the doors were closed but Jay was still inside. I knocked and he was so kind and let us in to drop off our package. Excellent service from the tall young man at the counter. He taped up our gigantic box even though It turned out we had to use FedEx instead. When I mention stamps he said just go over to Rite Aid next-door and pick up the stamps. Just for his service alone we would give this place five stars and will definitely be back. read more

William at the UPS location in Laurelwood Shopping Center in San Mateo is the best UPS staff!!! I have been going to this location for years and William has always been very positive, easy going and pleasant to deal with. This week I had to ship a big valuable glass vase and I wasn't sure how to pack it. William not explained to me how to pack it so it will arrive its destination without a scratch but also helped me to pack it. I am very grateful of his great customer service . Always polite even when I have 10 Amazon returns. Have used them to ship large bulky items too.

What I love about this location is that there's parking right outside the door. I have to ship 25 - 30 lb. packages and other locations near me require paying meters at FEDEX, or walking into the office. This location is the most convenient. I love the other location in Belmont which has very helpful guys who will lift a heavy box when I need it. I gave it 2 stars, because I can't count on him to be open on time. His hours of operation is 8:30 - 6:30, but, he's more likely to arrive by 8:50. He should move his hours to 9:00, so he can be sure to be open on time. He doesn't provide a contact number on yelp or on his door either. A gal who regularly walks by this store for exercise says he is commonly late, but he is usually there by 8:50. I was there by 8:20, waited till 8:35, when she told me about when he arrives. Another person also left because he wasn't open. When he is there, I get my packages taken care of quickly. I waited 45 minutes at this UPS store and finally walked out. The two employees didn't know how to process hardly anything. My wife and I were there for passport photo and mail in passport renewal. The guy helping us couldn't 1. find the camera 2. take a proper photo 3 find the printer to complete the deal. He called his boss at least 6 times to get some help. He had no idea how to take the SIM card out of the camera. Never, never go there. Your blood pressure would be through the roof. The kicker was when the phone rang and he started helping someone on the phone while we waited. How can you pay these people if they don't know their job. Several other customers were frustrated. The gal was on the phone with her boss to get the money change straight with a customer. She couldn't work the touch screen. The owner left two inept people to run his business. This is the worst printing experience I had. First I cannot print without using their computers. Second, their computer is hell slow and it took five minutes to install driver for my USB drive to be recognized. They ended charging me for 6 dollars for 4 black and white prints. It is not the price that upsets me, it is that they charge customers for the slowness of their own system and they feel obligated to charge customers for that. What a horrible customer experience. I would never go back to this store. read more

Why have your store hours posted on the window and on Yelp as being open but no one is there? This is not the first time this happened to us at this location.
