I found the people at this UPS store to be extremely friendly and helpful! We sent our Save the Date wedding invitations through UPS. The kind woman at the desk gave us the needed materials to easily seal our envelopes and also offered to put UPS shipping labels onto each of the 100 or so envelopes herself. I stopped in today to print and fax 14 pages. Doesn't sound like that should be take over half an hour and cost $45 right? For starters, the sole computer for customers is on top of a tiny desk maybe 3 feet tall. And there's no chair. So I had to stand there, bent over at the waist, to pull up and print out my document. Then it took over 30 minutes for the fax to go through. I get it, faxing takes time, but this is insane! Then the nice Korean lady rings me up: $45 and change. Apparently they charge $3 for 5 minutes of computer time (reasonable), 50 cents a page for black and white printing, and $2.50 per page for faxing! She claimed it was because it was "long distance" (it was Pennsylvania), but even so, there's no way it costs them even $1 per page to fax! They're marking it up more than 250%. If I had known they were going to charge anywhere near this much, I would have gone elsewhere! Afterwards, I consulted the UPS website and found that for this particular store, the price should be 12 cents a page for printing (or $1.68, not $7 total). No word on how much "long-distance faxing" costs. I'm going to follow up with corporate and see if I can't get some money back from these price-gouging monsters! In the meantime, I am never using UPS for any reason again and I'm telling all my friends. The only way to stop abusive business practices is to hit them where it hurts! read more

Beware! Thieves! They stole our expensive items! My son had to go home from the university and left his stuff in his studio apartment. I contacted the store to ship my college-aged son's personal effects consisting of 7 boxes and two luggage. It cost me thousands of dollars for them to pack and ship these 9 items. First, I was happy to receive 7 boxes and 1 luggage after a week. Their tracking numbers matched. The problem is, we did not receive the second luggage. I checked online and one tracking number is invalid. I texted Leslie, the manager, numerous times about this. She replied to me like she was so exasperated (in capitalized letters like she was yelling at me), and as if my concern is not important. Very rude! Her worker, Carlos, who helped pack everything contacted me (a week before the shipment) and asked if we can donate my son's furniture to him. We said no since we have contacted another company to do this. What is creepy is that packed the said luggage with my son's most expensive items like a North Face coat my son treasures, my son's precious turntable, his pricey comforter and of course, the luggage itself which cost me. I texted Carlos about the missing luggage but did not receive any reply either. Why are these thieves in business, especially during this pandemic, stealing our stuff and not replying to our questions? DO NOT USE THIS UPS!!! YOU WILL BE GYPPED FOR SURE!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I'm surprised reviews for this location are so low. I used to work on 19th and L, which is actually closer to the 17th and M location, and I would walk an extra block or two out of my way to go to this store. They're MUCH more friendly and accommodating, and have always smiled and greeted me (although admittedly not in the first second I arrive if they're busy.) I helped a friend ship a bunch of her belongings across country before moving and, not surprisingly, the service here was a WORLD of difference compared to the Post Office. They gave us a dolly to bring in her boxes and started shipping and organizing the packages quickly and efficiently with a good attitude you'll NEVER get at a DC post office or the other UPS store. It does warrant mentioning that you need to specify that you're looking for the cheapest option available if that's the case, or do your research on the UPS website to learn the correct terminology for what you want before stopping in. read more

I've been in here several times, always pleasant. The couple that run this place take their time, but in a good way. I've notarized a few documents here, I think the rate runs about $4. I've never had to wait in line, and they're not skimpy with the paper clips, staples, tape like some other shipping stores. read more

Place is great, they are really friendly, especially considering its DC. Probably the most reliable notary service in this area. They always have one on the weekdays. I used to work at a store so I know how crazy it gets during holidays, but even then they are still incredibly polite. read more

Would not let me use a single strip of their tape just to seal a package up. Even other UPS store locations will lend you a bit of tape. Terrible customer service. With so many options, go elsewhere. read more

I arrived at 12:30 and the store was very quiet (I was the only customer). I told the man at the counter I needed some forms notarized and I was pointed in the direction of the island in the middle of the store and instructed to wait, or so I thought. While I waited I observed an employee run out and grab a package from a woman in a cab and heard him make a call himself to a customer who had shipped a package that was unable to be delivered. Seemed like the customer service was very good. Then a group of 3 students came in to ship a number of items and that took quite a while. The whole time I'm wondering when the notary will be back and no one in the store checked in with me. After the students were finished I asked the man how much longer i needed to wait and he suddenly said "oh, I can do that now". Apparently, when he pointed me over to the counter there was a notary form he wanted me to fill out which I had missed buried under the various forms on the counter. It was definitely my fault I stood around for 25 minutes but in retrospect I don't understand why it was that when i didn't immediately start filling out the form that he didn't come over and point it out to me, especially with no one else in the store. It took him 3 minutes to complete my forms. It was $4 to get the notarization and now that I know the drill I'll be better prepared. I will go back but I can see why people have some complaints. read more

Business charged 3x as much to ship a nonfunctioning laptop because they were not "comfortable" shipping the laptop in the original packing that Dell shipped it. Took advantage of naïve customer. Will tell all my friends to go to the FedEx store instead. Shame on you for wrecking UPS name and integrity. read more

This place is a joke! I attended a silent auction while in DC. I won three framed pictures. I walked from my hotel to this UPS store and had them shipped home to St. Louis. One of the frames arrived broken. I contacted UPS. They made me take more photos than a Kate Upton swimsuit shoot! I had to dig through the trash to find the original packaging. I had to contort my body to get some of the shots they wanted. "One picture with three sides of the box and another picture with the other three sides". I almost had to purchase a selfie-stick. Then they made me get an estimate from a frame shop. Despite going through all these hoops, I still haven't been reimbursed, and I can't get the frame fixed because then I doubt they will pay for it at all given all the hoops I have already jumped through. It's a shame because the picture was supposed to be a Father's Day gift. Thanks, UPS. If you are reading this, do yourself a favor and walk a few more blocks to someone who will treat your property and your time with respect. read more

I've interacted with employees here three times. The first time was a good experience, with efficient, friendly service. The second time the clerk, although friendly and willing to help, appeared to not be trained properly--she didn't know how to use the system that enabled returns to corporate clients--and the store wasn't staffed enough, with at least one person leaving in a huff because it was taking so long. She gave me a receipt that she said included the tracking information, but the receipt didn't include the right information, which led to a spiral of phone calls trying to track the package. The third time, I called the store to get the tracking number and the clerk said she couldn't find it, that it would definitely be listed under my phone number--even though I never gave my phone number to the 2nd clerk (she didn't ask for it). Then it took her several tries to find the tracking information, with her saying that she couldn't find it in the system. Then magically she found it with the same information I had been giving her for the previous 10 minutes (my first and last name). After she gave me the information, she decided that that was a good time to insist to that employee #2 had given me the tracking information, even though I had the receipt that she gave me, which did not list the tracking information ... anywhere. Similar rudeness peppered the entire conversation. It's too bad that UPS has a monopoly over certain transactions. Not impressed. read more

I've come to this UPS location trying to return a couple of Amazon items using the free UPS labels they give you online. The Korean couple that runs the store are nice enough but try to sneak in fees that are crazy and leave you feeling totally ripped off. They also try to provide the service first without telling you the price. On both occasions they just started boxing my item up and I had to put on the brakes and ask what they'd charge. See the other reviews and notice the pattern, it's there for a reason. They wanted to charge me $20 for a cardboard box and packing tape. I said no thanks and made my own box and dropped it off again for free. On another occasion they tried to tell me my box wasn't the right size and would need to be sent with one of their own for more than $25. I understand that they need to turn a profit where they can but the amount they're trying to charge for doing nothing is offensive. Can't speak to the notary and other services but wouldn't be surprised if those come with creative fees as well. read more
