I am super sad to write this which is why it took me months. Brought it to him for a used car inspection. Immediately after it wouldn't pass the emissions test. I believe he was colluding with the fraudster selling the car. When we tried to reach out that the car had all sorts of issues, they avoided us. Silly me to believe in other people's good will. This little inspection at V ended up costing me 5500 in repairs on a 5000 car. Unethical. I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the customer and repair service provided by the team at V Shop. I'm a shade tree mechanic and do most car maintenance and repairs myself. I recently found myself not so in love, and lacking patience with my 2007 S80 V8 for the myriad of small and big repairs that have been bestowed upon me by Portland potholes and poor build quality of the Ford-owned Volvo. I reached out to the V Shop and spoke with Kyle to see if they would entertain replacing the front struts, lower control arms, and outer tierods with OEM parts I had purchased. All but two shops insisted that I return my parts and buy the parts and service through them. No thanks. Kyle was accommodating, quoted me a very fair price for the repair with the mutual understanding that there may be other issues as they get into the frontend. I conveniently dropped the car off the night before using their after-hours dropbox. I got a call from Kyle the following day in the afternoon that went to voicemail saying my car was ready, and that the final price was the price quoted. No surprises! I called back and spoke with both Kyle and the mechanic, Goran. Goran explained what he found, which included the fact that I had bent my strut when I hit the pothole. The other oddity was that the last time I took the car into a popular oil service shop, they did not remove the old oil ring on the oil filter housing, so there were now two on the filter housing, which caused a temporary, but noticeable oil leak. There were other items I wanted to be assessed, which Goran went over. At no time was I pressured to do the other repairs. Goran explained in simple terms what was happening and what I need to watch to determine when the repairs should be done. Writing this review is a double-edged sword because I hope it will create more business for the deserving folks at the V Shop, but it also means it will be harder to get my car in for repairs. :) read more

I bought a used Volvo S80 from a dealership and wanted it checked out by someone who specialized in these cars. I called around and tried multiple places but nobody had openings. V Shop was able to squeeze me in next day and did an AMAZING Job. This is my first Volvo and I had a ton of questions. They were patient and answered the million questions I had. They're honest, hard working, and really cared for my car. I also appreciated that the team was up front with prices and didn't try to do anything to my car that wasn't necessary. V Shop did a great thorough exam on my car and I left with a detailed report. They even caught something so simple as a door speaker that was not working. This will be my go to shop for my Volvo. It took us awhile for the V shop to fit us in their busy schedule but it was definitely worth the wait. When I called to make the appointment, Kyle told us to come in and he would check out the ominous noise to be sure our Volvo was safe to drive until our appointment. Came here again for a major service and left again feeling confident and happy with the job they did. This time around I had my engine replaced with a stronger block that should last the life of the car. This was a major operation with lots of potential for mishaps, but again they did a fantastic job and only used OE grade parts. They repaired and replaced things I know I had neglected to do earlier (like my leaky exhaust manifold gaskets). The car feels refreshed and better than ever and I can't thank these guys enough. read more

I have had my Volvo serviced by the V Shop for over 10 years. It has given me little problem in that time because I take it in as suggested by the shop and do regular maintenance. At each visit I know what is scheduled to be done, and when I receive a detailed invoice and list of a prioritized list of what should be done next. The staff makes you feel like family and I never worry about my 2005 Volvo S60 even with it's 122,000 miles on it. At 80 years old, it is very valuable to be able to feel such trust in this day and age. read more

I've been going to the V Shop for the last two years now and am always satisfied by the service. As an example, I brought the car in today thinking that my windshield wiping fluid container was cracked. They could have totally charged me like crazy, and I would have never known, but instead they told me that the fluid had just been overfilled and spilled over (it was a bit different from what I was used to in my previous cars to give me some credit too, hehe). Seriously though, they took care of the rest and I was so relieved to hear Kyle's message saying all was good and the car was ready for pick-up. If only the dog had not outgrown the car. Our V40 wagon was our first Volvo, we loved it. It was fast, peppy, and seemed to be the perfect choice for a new dog owning family who enjoys the out doors. Unfortunately it was only a matter of months before the dog out grew the car. We found ourselves with no room for anything else and had to move up to an SUV. None the less during the 6 months or so that we owned our beloved V40 we went to the V-Shop for V-Shop for our regular maintenance. Over the phone these guys were quick, professional and strait forward. In person it was even better, I felt like they really wanted to do what was best for me and the car and not what would add the most coin to the till. When presented with minor issues I was given several options and even told that things could wait and would not have to be done at this time etc. It was a refreshing experience not to be pressured or to have scare tactics presented. Kyle & Keith were great to work with, the dealer told me my 2007 S80 V8 was totalled due to the repair cost to replace a timing cover. I found the V shop and was quoted a very good price. They called if they found additional items that they suggest be repaired 'while in there'. Final cost was under the estimated price, I am very pleased. Geez... where do I start? Trustworthy, fair, helpful, polite, easy to talk to, conveniently located. I guess the list could go on and on, but what I will say is that if you own a Volvo, especially a newer (*clears throat*) more complicated one, then the V Shop is your place! I have known owner Peter Linssen a LONG time, and he is the only person I trust with my Volvos. Granted, I do a lot of the easy work myself, but when things get hairy, or beyond my level of expertise or tools, my cars go straight to the V Shop. Peter's guys know what they're doing, using the latest factory technology and software, as well as certified tools to keep your Volvo on the road and looking good! And they're so well connected throughout the region and the Volvo community that if they need to reach out for additional information or technical knowledge, they know exactly where to go or call. I usually do my own maintenance on our V70, but due to the inclement weather and no access to a garage I decided to let the professionals handle it this time around. SO glad I did. Not only were they able to get the engine fired up again and stop a bad oil leak, but also fixed a bad wiring harness for the back hatch resolving issues with a brake light, defroster, windshield wiper, and door lock that have plagued us for years. There was a small delay due to parts coming from a warehouse, but the shop called to communicate that and quickly finished the job once they had the needed parts. Clean operation all the way around. I do most of the work on my 2001 Volvo V70 myself because I've been burned by mechanics so many times. I took the advice of a friend and gave The V Shop a try when I had a problem that was way over my head. They not only took care of the repair I wanted at a very reasonable price, they also gave me a very detailed report outlining the condition of my car and the repair costs involved. But the cool thing is, they didn't compose the report to hit me up for more business; they just told me what needed to be done - including the required parts - by me OR them, and they included an estimate for each repair so I could think about it. They're also willing to spend time with you talking about the work before, during, and after the repair. Most shops force you to go through a dedicated desk person who never actually touches your car, relaying messages between you and the mechanic. This practice, in a word, sucks, because important things get lost in translation, and a dedicated desk person has no real connection with you - other than to take your money. The V Shop will be my Volvo repair shop from now on. I strongly recommend them to every Volvo owner. read more

Heck yes to Volvos! Ahem. I bought a used station wagon that was cheap as dirt but obviously in need of repair. My roommate had some friends who are Volvo enthusiasts and they recommended this shop. It's a little out of the way, making dropping your car off and getting a ride a bit of an event but I believe it's well worth it. They gave me a great overview of what exactly needed to be fixed and even went so far as to explain it to me in much detail mechanically (with patience as I am not versed in this area). They didn't treat me like an idiot. Also, since the list of repairs was quite long, they broke it down in to what was absolutely necessary and what could wait a bit. They were quick as well, only took them a few hours after they called to give me the break down. When I went to pick my car up they were clean, professional and friendly. Most of the reason I think I had a good experience with this shop is due to the high level of organization. It takes a week or so from the date you call to get your car in because you have to make an appointment for a specific day. So if you're looking for an emergency fix you might have to look elsewhere. read more

My wife and I have two Volvos (1999 S70 and 2000 V70). We started using The V Shop after another independent Volvo shop wasn't able to diagnose intermittent problems with both cars. The V Shop figured out and fixed both, one of which involved spending many hours (which we weren't charged for) problem-solving the issue. Since then we won't bring our cars anywhere else, even though we live on the East side. Their customer service is amazing (far better than the downtown Volvo dealership) and they know Volvos inside out. I'm just sorry I didn't find out about them years ago. read more

I've been going here for a couple years ever since they gave the lowest bid on a computer malfunction on my '04 XC. When there are persistent issues, as happens when your mileage goes over 150K, these guys will work with you and make you happy. I have taken my Volvo here 2 times now and I have to say that this place is awesome! Yesterday I had to take my car here on the fly when my power steering quit working! I got there about 10 min before they closed. I was told that they were pretty busy until Friday but they Would try to take a look if they had any time before then. I totally expected to have no car for the whole weekend! BUT they called me today (before 2 pm) and told me it was a relatively easy fix and it was done!!!! Both times I have taken my car here they are super honest about what needs to be fixed and what doesn't! I am so happy to have this shop in my neighborhood!
