This is my fav bar in Noe Valley!! They have a great, affordable drink menu, lots of seating (tables, booth, bar, and even a gorgeous outdoor space with greenery and TVs in the back with heat lamps!) The bar has a good variety of NA beverages so I'm a big fan! This is a solid spot to watch any big sports game (lots of screens) with a group and actually sit down. While up on Twin Peaks, we decided we wanted to have some happy hour adult beverages, so I got on yelp to find the closest good place. Valley Tavern popped up at the top of the list and down the hill we went. We settled in front of the bank of beer taps on the right side of the bar and had an enjoyable happy hour and a half. My friend was so happy the had Pliny the Elder and Spaten, two of his favorites. I was in SF recently and was looking for a place to grab drinks. This is definitely your classic neighborhood spot; divey, lots of TVs for watching the game, strong drinks. It was raining on this particular day but we sat outside underneath the covered patio out back. I feel like maybe some folks aren't aware of this back patio because it's kinda hidden. It's really nice though! They had a TV outside playing the game and plenty of drinks to choose from. I was craving a hot toddy and lo and behold the first thing I saw on the menu was the tavern hot toddy. It was yummy and hit the spot! Definitely a bit on the stiffer side but perfect for warming up out of the rain. We also ordered a pitcher of mimosas. They don't really do pitchers of anything else so this was our best bet. They were pretty solid! All in all a good time! You'll be happy if you come here for a strong drink and to hangout - just don't expect anything too fancy. read more

They have extensive list of beers and hard alcohol. I personally love the Bloody mary here. Food : This is a dive bar and serves no food. You can bring your own though which is great! Ambience : Come here with your friends to catch a game. They have plenty of TVs and you could request them to display your preference as well. They have a sizable indoor seating and a cute little back patio that shuts around 8 pm. They also have seating out front with heaters. Staff : Cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable about their drinks - All that you will ever need. Value for money : This dive bar is in one of the nicest neighborhoods in SF - Noe Valley and so the crowd here is quite lovely as well. First time here - Nice outdoor seating space! Pretty hanging lights, cute benches & tables nestled between some trees and plenty of plants.. didn't get to experience that though since we got moved from our initial table to a spot tucked in a corner behind a sink/fridge.. a not so pleasant view. The cocktails were average, we got the raspberry vodka cocktail but the "raspberry" was a syrup that was sticky and dripping all over the cup and we genuinely could not taste the vodka. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing honestly. If you're a local and come here a whole bunch - you'll get OUTSTANDING service! That was noted from the friendly and quick attentive service they were giving to guest that they knew on a first name basis. Ricky/Vicky was pretty snappy and forgot about us and our requests more than a handful of times. After 10 minutes of trying to wave someone down I called her over and asked "Can I have a straw please?" To which she looked at me with a confused face and said " why? You have one in your drink!" And started to walk away until I said "Oh sorry- it's for my water!" Exactly 15 minutes later I asked a waiter to bring me one instead. She made us feel very uncomfortable and out of place. So, you can have privacy or communal seating if feel like it. It's also nice that the servers come around and check on you. The back patio is a true patio, which doubles as a beer garden really. My group of four had brunch nearby. Wanting to continue the drinking while sitting outside (it was a nice day), one of the boys suggested Valley Tavern. We stopped by on Saturday, June 17th around 2:30pm. We all ordered at the bar and brought our drinks to the outdoor patio. *Tavern Pimm's Cup: Pimm's No 1, gin, lemon, lime, cucumber, ginger beer ($12) *Racer 5 IPA: Bear Republic, Healdsburg CA, 7.5% ABV, 75 IBU ($6.50) *Space Dust: Elysian, Seattle WA, 8.2 ABV, 73 IBU ($7.50) *Allagash White: Allagash, Portland ME, 5.1% ABV, 28 IBU ($8) I got the allagash white. I couldn't really drink anymore, so I wanted something that was easy to sip on. We sat outside for a good two hours just enjoying the sun and talking. It was a slow afternoon, so we just chilled and caught up. I hadn't seen my some of my friends in a while. The waitress was really nice and attentive. She kept checking up on us even though we were just nursing our one drink each. The patio is actually rather big with many levels. We didn't have trouble finding a table as there was only one other party out there. Ended up sitting at the picnic table on the top level to the left when you enter the patio. I am not a Barfly like Charles Bukowski as I have only drank three times in my life & all before the age of 21. I am a big hoops fan & especially since the Warriors have been having a historical season which makes hoops in the Bay Area exciting. I haven't owned a television in 20 years nearly as long as I have been vegan so going to see the Warriors play in the Finals at a Sports bar is a definite for me. I met some friends at Valley Tavern to watch the Warriors & the Cavs game. My friends enjoyed their beer while I had a grapefruit juice. The service here was on point. The energy was nice & the bar had several large screens for viewing the game. Another nice addition was that Valley Tavern allows you to enjoy food from outside. One of the friends I was with had some pizza from Patxi's Pizza next door & found out that Patxi's pizza has Daiya Vegan Cheese which is awesome for those who want vegan pizza. The game was exciting as was neck & neck the whole time yet the Warriors broke through in the final minutes led by Durant's superb performance in the clutch. He will be the Finals MVP! The only drawback here was we were sitting right next to a smoking room & every time the door opened it was heavy w/ the smell of cigarette smoke. Definitely a time warp into back in the day before there was smoking & non-smoking sections of restaurants yet for those who smoke that could be a good thing. Go Warriors! I recommend coming here for game 4 of the Finals on Friday where the undefeated Warriors could potentially have a historical game becoming the first team in pro sports history to remain perfect in the post-season. The go to spot in Noe Valley for a good drink. Tons of quality beers on tap (around 40) with a great selection of the best IPA's. Staff is always great - Declan's the man! This is the closest thing you'll find to Cheers in SF these days, a true home away from home. Also, they have tons of TV's for all of us sports-a-holics, a great backyard patio for those occasional sunny SF days, and a front smoking room. I have been coming to this bar since I move to the neighborhood, usually bartenders are super nice, make you feel at home, with a nice attitude. UNFORTUNATELY I-had a very bad experience, with my family yesterday night. Tips were NEVER enough for the bartender... were "just $10 dollars, just $3 dollars, just$..." and her attitude was THE WORST! I've come to Valley Tavern for more than six years, I'm sitting here now reading a magazine, chatting with people sitting here - some of which are visiting from all over the world, and having a glass of wine. I come here and can decompress after a stressful week. I'm at Valley Tavern for their football Sunday's grilled cheese burger and fries - delicious! I just watched one of the owners give a nice, respectful man they knew, that learned has no money, might be homeless, two sausage sandwiches with fries. He ate one and left with the other. Any of us could have seen this man's hunger as he stared at the food, heartbreaking. I've seen them store food for a homeless woman in their fridge - Declan, Brittney and Vince have amazing hearts. I've been to Valley Tavern twice now and the atmosphere is nice. However, on my most recent visit, I was charged more for my drink than the price listed on the menu. I tried to fix the issue and brought the error to the staff's attention, but the bartender said that the menu was incorrect and that the correct price was the more expensive version listed on my bill. I left Valley Tavern feeling off about this, since to me, the ethical thing to do would have been to honor the price listed on the menu. read more
