What an unexpected treat to find a vintage Art Deco-style bar hidden in the Mission that evokes classic Manhattan nightclubs like El Morocco. I could even picture Barbra Streisand here brushing Robert Redford's hair off his forehead as she sighs his name in breathless pre-coital ecstasy..."Hubbell Gardiner". Loved "The Way We Were" but as usual, I digress. I showed up at 4PM, rather early for a cocktail, but... Oy, I was having such a day. The bartender just opened the front door, and the place was, of course, empty and quite dark . There were white tablecloths, aquamarine neon lighting, and potted palms with classic Trompe-l'œil images on the walls. The stylish decor required a cocktail that matched the mid-century mood. A $12 Makers Mark Manhattan (photo: https://bit.ly/44UpFyZ) was smooth and just the right libation. All they need is the Glenn Miller Orchestra. COCKTAIL - 5 stars...potent and classy cafe society drink AMBIANCE - 5 stars...the vintage vibe really wooed me, and the lone palm is out on the sidewalk SERVICE - 4 stars...not too chatty TOTAL - 5 stars...meet me at El Morocco, soldier RELATED - Exploring the Mission? Stiff drinks, divey vibes, and free chips? What more could you want? definitely come here if you want a chill date night or to pregame your night!

Such a cute little bar in the mission district! Stopped by here randomly when my friend and I were in the area after going to urban putt. This was one of the only cocktail bars open and that takes credit card which was nice. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty crowded - I'd definitely wear layers because it can get hot in there! The service was fantastic though and so quick to try and get to you at the bar. They'll answer any questions and provide suggestions. We ended up just getting beers because we wanted something quicker than waiting for a cocktail to be made, but it looks like martini's are the most popular there. Extensive wine menu as well. I thought it was adorable that they have a little basket of snacks on the counter. We originally picked one out because we love dill pickle chips and we're ready to pay with our beers, but turns out it's completely up for grabs and free! It's such a nice touch to this bar and makes you feel so welcomed. I definitely recommend primarily for the service. Hope to go back and try a cocktail there!

Lone palm is a magical place. The sexiest bar in the city. Truly a sexy experience with groovy tunes and really cool people. I unfortunately came here with my slippers on one night but it is so dimly lit that you can get away with a lot of things in here, hence the sexiness. Lone palm is the spot for a night to forget about all the troubles and enjoy your time alive

On the eve of the second lockdown (Lockdown Eve, as I call it), my bf and I decided to hit the outside bars for the first/last time. Lone Palm remained one of the lone bars still open all the way up until curfew. Our server was super nice, brought out a table for us, had a whole basket of snacks ready and waiting, and even brought out a blanket for my boyfriend who said he "didn't need a jacket". With her great service, stiff drinks, and sidewalk table, life almost felt normal for a second. Will definitely be back post lockdown and post quarantine.

I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

It takes a lot for me to consider a return visit to a cocktail bar. Most of the time, I just begrudgingly go along with my friends to a mediocre bar, but Blind Pig is a place I would enthusiastically return to again and again. I first got the namesake cocktail: Blind Pig. It was incredibly well-balanced, and the flame presentation upon arrival was an epic mini show. Later during last call, I decided to risk it all and roll the dice to order from the secret menu. I rolled a 5, which got me a wine & Japanese beer concoction with Sichuan peppercorn. Totally feel like this cocktail was made for me, as I rep the 川渝 region. The drink was strong, but that made it all the better. I'm personally over (and too old) dealing with sloppy drunks spilling drinks on you, getting pushed around in a crowd or end up in a middle of a brawl Blind Pig is that perfect spot, well at least on a weeknight: chill, low-key, and moody. And, most importantly comfy seating AND solid AZN inspired craft cocktails ($18-$19). Cocktails with black sesame, taro, pandan, mapo tofu, tea, and hot pot flavors? YAS! D R I N K S * Hot & Sour: Tanqueray Gin w/ Iichiko shochu, aloe, rose, hot pot paste, basil, citrus, peychaud's ($18 x2) The sichuan hot pot inspired cocktail was silky smooth from the milk-washed gin, nicely balanced - sweet (but not too sweet) and sour with a subtle málà numbing spice. Stiff yet easy to drink. The manager/bartender, Leo was awesome with great hospitality. Background lounge-y music is not too loud so you can yap and catch-up with friends. Overall, Blind Pig is a great place to unwind after work or start the night off. Five years later, I finally stopped by here again but with my little sister this time. I wanted her to try my favorite cocktail bar. Of course, SF made it very difficult to find parking in downtown with all those limited yellow markings and toll away streets. Very annoying! We happened to come by here last month when they were celebrating Asian Heritage Awareness. A lot of their specialities that night were made with pandan! Once it was 11pm, the bouncer started to let everybody in, so I'm guessing they only let people inside every 30 minutes to prevent overcrowding, even though once we got in it wasn't that crowded and there was plenty of open space outside too. Having to wait only gave us about an hour inside. It says they close at 12am and that is exactly when they close--you can't stay any longer than that. I'm used to bars typically staying open about 30 minutes to an hour after the listed closing time to allow customers inside to finish up. As soon as 12am hits, the bouncer starts going around and constantly telling you to hurry it up because they are closed now. The service was also pretty slow, which did not give us much time at all to sip and enjoy the drinks before they closed. We started off ordering two drinks, then our waiter came back about 10 minutes later and asked for last call so we ordered another one (this was before our two drinks even came out yet). After about 15 minutes, we got all three drinks and the waiter apologized and said he didn't charge us for the third drink since it took so long. This gave us only about 10-15 minutes to finish our drinks before we started to get told we had to leave. At least my drink (apple bottom beets) was good and I was able to chug it, but I would rather be able to take my time and enjoy a drink. Their menu is huge, and they have a wide selection of different cocktails categorized under which type of liquor is used (rum, agave, brandy). The ambiance is dark and romantic.
