Lone Palm is a GREAT find in SF... so much so, I almost didn't want to write a review. It's a small little neighborhood gem that I'm sure the locals like to keep close to their chest. We stumbled (kinda literally) upon Lone Palm one late Saturday night after an evening of shows and a few drinks. Fortunately, our AirBnB was literally steps away from the LP. We went in for a nightcap. It's a hopping little joint for being tucked away in the lovely little Mission neighborhood. The bartenders took great care of us and kept the drinks flowing. Price is extremely on-point and the pours are generous. We can't highly recommend the Lone Palm enough... truly a secret little gem that the Mission neighborhood is very lucky to have. We plan to be back in the next couple weeks and look forward to visiting again! read more

After a Yelp Event I stopped by the Lone Palm for an after drink. Well, upon entering, the place was dark and only lit up by lots and lots of small candles. A dark colored dog (yes I said dog) came out of nowhere which I almost fell over. Welcome to the Lone Palm! Sat at the end of the bar once I got my bearings, met the bartender Alex, and had a champagne split. Alex is a charming bartender and has been there for 17 years. Great bartender shared history of the place and made you feel comfortable and welcomed. This is a cozy also romantic place to take a date. I've driven past this place many times and decided to have a cocktail. I went there after it just opened and was the first person there. I ordered a Negroni from Chelsea the bartender and she told me it was happy hour so I would be getting $3 off the normal price. The drink also came with some mixed cocktail snacks that were quite tasty. We had a nice chit chat while I was there as a few more patrons started to roll in. I liked the vibe of this place. It has a warm cozy feel to it. Not too loud music was playing, making it easy for conversation. I would think a perfect place for a date. I'll be going back. read more

What an unexpected treat to find a vintage Art Deco-style bar hidden in the Mission that evokes classic Manhattan nightclubs like El Morocco. I could even picture Barbra Streisand here brushing Robert Redford's hair off his forehead as she sighs his name in breathless pre-coital ecstasy..."Hubbell Gardiner". Loved "The Way We Were" but as usual, I digress. I showed up at 4PM, rather early for a cocktail, but... Oy, I was having such a day. The bartender just opened the front door, and the place was, of course, empty and quite dark . There were white tablecloths, aquamarine neon lighting, and potted palms with classic Trompe-l'œil images on the walls. The stylish decor required a cocktail that matched the mid-century mood. It's a cool casual place with clothed tables (saw a lot of people on dates), buuuuut the rude middle aged blonde bartender (there's a theme in some of the reviews) kind of dampened the vibe a couple of times during our visit. I hate to give a less than "okay" review for a business, but the middle aged blonde bartender was really rude and passive aggressive toward our small group, and this made an easy "do not recommend" decision for any future visits. I do appreciate that they offer some munchy snacks at the bar to go with the drinks, but meh.... Not worth coming back, even if the rude blonde bartender was just having a bad night (although, upon evaluation of other reviews, it appears that this is how she typically treats patrons). *Shrug* read more

Such a cute little bar in the mission district! Stopped by here randomly when my friend and I were in the area after going to urban putt. This was one of the only cocktail bars open and that takes credit card which was nice. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty crowded - I'd definitely wear layers because it can get hot in there! The service was fantastic though and so quick to try and get to you at the bar. They'll answer any questions and provide suggestions. We ended up just getting beers because we wanted something quicker than waiting for a cocktail to be made, but it looks like martini's are the most popular there. Extensive wine menu as well. I thought it was adorable that they have a little basket of snacks on the counter. We originally picked one out because we love dill pickle chips and we're ready to pay with our beers, but turns out it's completely up for grabs and free! It's such a nice touch to this bar and makes you feel so welcomed. I definitely recommend primarily for the service. Hope to go back and try a cocktail there! read more

Hung here for 20+ years religiously at least once a week (not joking) the staff now is so rude it's like they're going out of their way to be rude. Isn't that more work? It's changed, it used to be edgy and not necessary nice but now you just feel abused and ripped off. Really sad about this place. On the eve of the second lockdown (Lockdown Eve, as I call it), my bf and I decided to hit the outside bars for the first/last time. Lone Palm remained one of the lone bars still open all the way up until curfew. Our server was super nice, brought out a table for us, had a whole basket of snacks ready and waiting, and even brought out a blanket for my boyfriend who said he "didn't need a jacket". With her great service, stiff drinks, and sidewalk table, life almost felt normal for a second. Will definitely be back post lockdown and post quarantine. read more

I've always passed by this place, never really considered going there until a friend suggested that we meet there for cocktails. It was a nice little spot, although not my typical Happy Hour fun spot to kick off the holiday weekend. It's always nice to find a new place to go to. I arrived early and checked out the place a little. Plenty of seating, people meeting for cocktails, everything was nice without being fancy. They serve snacks on the tables, chips, crackers and such. I noticed that the place was quiet for a bar that wasn't empty, so it's a good place to meet someone to talk and have a pre-dinner cocktail. I ordered a Bullitt Manhattan up, it was perfectly done as any proper bar would do correctly. OK, this is going to be a strange review because I didn't try any alcoholic bevvies, but... What even is the story here with Lone Palm?! I am completely in love with their artwork. There's a whole '80s narrative that could be filmed here, or at least there's a whole story based upon the succubus she devil that dominates their wall. You know The Golden Child? You know Big Trouble in Little China? You know The Shadow? (Aright that was the '90s, but you get me.) That's what Lone Palm is giving me. The night goddess herself is half relief, half counter-relief--legs akimbo--she comes out of the wall and into your daydreams. What is that face? A Krugress without the glove. No, that's not right. She's older and more ancient than that. I should talk about the bar too. Love the window scene. Let's set up a photo shoot there some day. The drinks flow freely, even when full and there's one chap manning the scene. (The bar man was fab, btw.) Expect the full range of beers, dive-y yet classy cocktails, and such. This establishment is many things to many people. To me, it's the best neighborhood bar in the city. For some, it's the very best "Dive Bar" where you "meet-up" to party the weekend away!!! Used to be an amazing, a true hidden gem. It's not the techies or the staff, it's unfortunately a combination of both that have ruined this bar. This is the third time in a row that this has been a subpar experience at this establishment and it is highly likely an understatement! When you put a napkin on a drink (made subpar at best with ice overflowing the glass) after immediately receiving it from the bartender and state that you will be right back and you return from the restroom to two guys who slide your drink to the side, throw your things on the floor, sit in he seat and then watch the bartender just flirt with them for the next 30 plus minutes?! I want to start by saying that this is one of favorite bars in the city. I was there on a date tonight when a group of people in the corner got a bit loud. Sure it may have been obnoxious but they just seemed to be having a good night. Then a blonde woman in a tank top jumped up from her table and yelled "shut the f*** up" and began arguing with the group. She then stumbled over to the table and identified herself as the bar manager while telling the group to get the f$&@ out! How embarrassing and unprofessional for a manager who was clearly intoxicated to be addressing guests in this way. I had brought my date in to show them a great bar and was sadly disheartened by our experience. We left for another spot and honestly felt bad for the group that was singled out for enjoying themselves. I think a change in management might be needed, but for now I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I waited 40 mins for my margarita until I decided to go inside to ask her. She got an attitude with me and claimed that she was not supposed to serve outside. Lone Palm, so pleased to finally meet you. Neon sign and the lone palm tree outside - I immediately fell in love. (It's in the air, you know with that Vday approaching). Last eve, I hit up this Mission neighborHOod lounge/bar for a chill happy HOur. LP has a cozy and intimate vibe, but at the same time feels spacious (when it's not uber crowded like how it was last night. I suspect it's like that during the week, but different on weekends). AnywHO, I dig that the tables have white linens and candles, and agree with other Yelpies in that it's reminiscent of Miami (not that I've been) with the cool deco art-type vibe. i sat at the far end of the bar, and loved that we could hear each other and properly catch up. The digalicious chill tunes (from 80s to classic) were played at a tolerable volume. Bartender was nice and attentive, and quick to refill our pretzels without having to ask. OH or HOmylanta! Guess what yours truly was drinking? Gotta get dem HOegaardens on tap. Awwyah! Tasty belgian ale goodness! So happy to have the draft HOs two consecutive days in a row, and in different HOods. So, I went to a birthday event, and somehow ended up doing a mini-bar crawl and tacos run. Epic win FTW! Use this as a template. First stop was "Mission Bar". This was the second stop, third was "Doc's Clock" before ending at "Taqueira Cancun". Snickers at the name aside, this bar doesn't feel as divy as the other bars. Not saying it's not divy, just not as much (it's a lounge?). Small and cramped feel to it, since there are booths and small tables and high-tables with stools taking up space. Tonight I saw someone save the neighborhood from young loud obnoxious people. My friend and I were trying to have a nice night and a group of 6 in the corner were being incredibly loud. Someone stood up and shushed them trying to maintain the atmosphere. It's Monday night and people just want to hang with their friends. Why did the table have to yell "I pay your bills?"? I first visited this spot sometime in the mid-90s and I remember having a good time on those visits. I recently started coming here again since I work somewhat close by. On my recent visits it's been in the late afternoon and some good tunes were playing. The bartender has been friendly and I watched a cool old Hitchcock film playing silently in the background. Ah... Lone Palm, 45 steps from my apartment - yeah, I counted (note to weirdos: you don't know in which direction, so don't even try to figure it out). My local bar in Vermont had a constant rotation of Beck's "Odelay" (good album, but after the 500th time, you're ready to move on), Hootie and the Blowfish (no one's ever going to be drunk enough to enjoy that), and AC/DC (or was that the bar in Ohio)? Well, having a neighborhood bar that plays Hot Chip, Fujiya & Miyagi, the Cure, Spoon, Okkervil River, etc, is quite fabulous. On the other hand, no one needs to hear Radiohead at a bar. I'll give you "Talk Show Host" around 7pm, Lone Palm. After that, you're just asking to find me sobbing in the corner of the tastefully decorated restroom. Also, I can't keep talking behind your back anymore. I just have to tell you, up front, what people have been saying. Your drinks taste, well, soapy. And, given your name...it was only a matter of time before someone thought of it: "The Lone Palmolive." Maybe you could hire me as a part-time bar back? Very mellow bar out on Guerrero Street. The atmosphere is super chill. The tables all have small candles. The bar is also dog friendly apparently because I saw two dogs running around when I was there. This bar has hard cider (the brand was Fox Barrel) and it tasted like pear juice. $4 for a bottle. There are also separate men's and women's bathrooms and they were kept relatively clean (considering it is a bar). read more

Came here with a friend and one of her friends after seeing a show at the GAMH. The night was going welland I was having pretty good converstation with my friend's friend. Then one of her male co-workers shows up. Talk about C-Block. Pretty soon after my friend gets kinda wasted and it all goes down hill from there. So we call it a night. I'm not one to blame the venue for the situation however. The place was pretty cool. An off the beaten path neighborhood bar. From the grungy outside you'd think it would be a rough bar but it's quite nice and calm. Noise levels are acoustically perfect for a conversation. Not too loud where you have to yell, not too quiet where it would be akward to speak. They've got Guinness and the crowd is pretty laid back. I've always loved it, but stopping in this weekend was such a bummer. The Lone Palm is kiiiind of like a dive bar, but with fancy shoes on. it takes all of the best elements of a classic dive (off the main drag, mostly uncrowded, very chill, no annoying hipsters or inflated prices) but manages to drop the less savoury elements (pretty clean, not too dark or dingy feeling, no vomit smell, no creepy local drunkards invading your space). i wouldn't have known about it at all though without a local taking me here, so it is something you have to seek out or be introduced to. the whiskey sour i ordered was a little heavier on the sour/syrup than i would have liked, but was amenable overall. a cursory glance of their wall revealed a very respectable selection of booze, should you desire something more crafty (but not "craft" if you catch my drift). i thought the small dishes of freebie snacks were charming, although it should be noted that real food doesn't seem to be an option here--so just be prepared for that! overall a great spot to start the night! read more
