This is our first time back since it changed from Parkside Tavern to O'Brien's. We arrived at around 7:30pm on a Friday. There was a short wait (about 15-20 minutes) before we were seated. Both the host and waitress were friendly. Been craving chowder, so I was excited to see the seafood chowder on the menu. Ordered a bowl, and it was a good chowder - flavorful but maybe a bit pricey. We saw quite a few tables order the burger, so that's what hubs ordered. He noted it was a good burger and the fries were hot and crispy. Kiddo was hungry, so he ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He liked it and he was quite full. Comes with a side of mac n cheese - he said it was too cheesy, but hubs liked it. I decided to order the Cottage Pie - it may not seem like a lot but it was filling. There is quite a bit of potato - maybe would've liked a little more meat. Good flavor, overall. It was busy during our visit, but the waitress checked on us often. We were too full to try any of the desserts, but they looked interesting enough that I'll have to return to try some.

Mushy peas! O'Brien's Irish Pub has mushy peas with their fish & chips $22. Some people won't like them, but I do. It reminds me of my work trip to London years ago. They taste like regular peas but with a mashed potatoes texture with a hint of sweetness. Beautiful to look at. The fish & chips themselves were really good. Perfectly cooked, nice textured fish and a light crispy batter. The chips (fries) weren't soggy and were on the thin side. The seafood chowder $15 was delicious. It was creamy and served with bread. There were so many pieces of clams and fish in the soup. Service was excellent. The restaurant was about half full on a Wednesday night. It was more of an older crowd, you know, people with gray hair. It was nice to have cloth napkins while eating at a bar. That is rare. It felt upscale with the dark wood paneling. The only thing missing is the Irish accents. Dia dhuit!

O'Brien's has become another regular spot to go to off Taraval Street. It's a great spot for local Irish fun with a full menu, cocktails, sports on the televisions, as well as live Irish music on Sunday. You get a sense of old world Irish as you walk into the establishment with dark woods and a long bar down the side of the room. It's always lively with sports playing on the televisions through out the restaurant. More traditional seating is on the right side of O'Brien's where are you seated by a hostess or server when you walk in. Every time we arrive we head straight to the bar. Can you actually go to an Irish pub and not get a pint of Guinness? The answer is no, you can't . Along with this Irish stout, there is a full complement of beers, a vast wine selection and a whole lot of alcohol for your mixed drinks. The appetizers are typical "pub food" from chicken wings and fried calamari to garlic fries and potato skins with some other offerings thrown in. I've sampled the Cheese Chive Croquettes, fried croquette with potato, cheddar cheese, chives, panko bread crumbs, served with a chipotle ranch as well as Fried Calamari, rings and tentacles Sliced Lemon battered and fried with Tartar Sauce. However it's dinner we are usually there for, along with enjoying some drinks and relaxing. In the past I've started with the simple Wedge Salad followed by the Fish & Chips, the Fried Chicken Sandwich (this was huge!), Steak Frites or Chicken Curry. Every dish as been good. Quality presentation with each dish full of flavor. The chicken sando stands out, but you can never go wrong with fish & chips. On top of the great food and endless drinks, you can't beat the friendly staff and atmosphere of O'Brien's, as it feels like you local neighborhood hang out. Highly recommend a stop for an Irish good time.

Dropped by O'Brien's for a casual dinner and really enjoyed the experience. Classic Irish pub vibes, with friendly service and a great beer selection. I ordered the bangers and mash, and it hit the spot. The sausages were hearty and flavorful with a nice sear, and the mashed potatoes were tasty as well. Good portion size, left full.

It was a Wednesday night, but it was packed. Even the auxiliary dining room, where I was, was packed. This was a pleasant surprise that business is doing this well. I don't remember that happening when it was the Parkside Tavern. Back then, the auxiliary room was mostly empty, except maybe on Warriors playoff nights. I had that Bangers and Mash today. It was very flavorful and aromatic. The bangers were a little bit on the burnt side but the mashed potatoes topped with an irresistible, stout gravy more than made up for it. The service was slow getting the food to everyone because the kitchen was backed up with the crowd tonight. So we had to be more patient. But it was another good sign for them that business is doing so well. The servers themselves were great. A tag team of three were working together to make sure we were all taken care of.

First time coming here as a local to the Parkside neighborhood. Right in front of the L bus stop so super convenient! We made it in time to enjoy a couple drinks and an appetizer for happy hour. I didn't get a picture of the garlic fries but they were the perfect crispiness! Not as garlicky as I would have liked but still good. I ordered the bangers and mash and it was very tasty. I wish there were just a little bit more green beans on the plate . My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious and a pretty good portion. I included a picture of the thickness of the chicken. It came with Mac and cheese which was a little lackluster. Not very flavorful and a bit dry on the top. Overall, we were happy with the food and service! Definitely coming here again. Cheers!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Clippers and GSW game and was surprised that it was not busier. Sat at the bar where Adrian was our bartender. Overall food was great and enjoyed the smash-burger but wish the bun was able to handle all the ingredients without having to fall apart near the end of my meal. Not pictured were the potato skins which hit the spot as a precursor to my meal. Solid 4 stars for my 2nd visit and was hoping to say "hi" to Rebecca who used to be a server at OJW.

Great place! I love the Irish stouts that they have on tap. Haven't tried much of the menu yet but the smash burger is great. Delicious crisp on the 2 patties, good sauce, bun so soft. Very yummy. Service is quick and friendly. Inside is very Irish bar and I like it. Want to try more of the menu. The Irish coffee is delicious as is the espresso martini.

First time coming here. This place has a full bar which you can seat at. They also have tables if you like to dine in since they do serve food as well other than drinks. Great place to hang out with friends and family. This place is clean. Friendly staffs.

Unless maybe if you're not a local regular customer. As a non-local, I came upon it as I was walking on Taraval all the way from Ocean Beach. The first time I visited, I was looking to wet my whistle without resorting to booze. The bartender happily complied by pouring me a Diet Coke. I felt badly I didn't order a proper stiff drink, so I tried to make up for it in the tip. Months later, I found myself returning on a rather nippy afternoon. As luck would have, just as I took a seat at the bar (and not the one shaped like a concave set of cheeks), I saw a hand drawn chalkboard advertising "Tito's Borghetti Espresso Martinis $12". Yep, that was it for me (Photo 7). The Tito's brand really made the difference, especially the Caffè Borghetti Espresso Liqueur. Very smooth with just the right amount of kick. Meanwhile, the true regulars were socializing with each other like an episode of "Cheers". I just need to take a long ride on the L-Taraval MUNI line to get here. The employee confirmed that rooms were available and immediately charged me for one hour without asking how long we planned to stay. Before paying, I specifically asked if we decided to stay longer, could I just come back and pay the difference later? He said yes. Once we got to the room, we were disappointed with the experience. The lighting couldn't be adjusted and was stuck on one very bright setting. The sound system wasn't great either--turning the volume up caused the speakers to vibrate and distort the audio. On top of that, you can only sing songs available through their built-in app, which has a limited selection. The most frustrating part was being told to leave after one hour, even though I had already confirmed with the employee that we could extend our time by paying the difference. Apparently, the room had been reserved the entire time, but no one mentioned that when I asked about extending. Had I known it was already booked, I would have understood and made other plans. Better communication from the staff would have made a big difference. Overall, the experience was disappointing and left us feeling misled.

If you are financially not in the good place, I don't recommend playing crane games. Most of my experiences with the smaller crane game, where only one item is placed in the platform, is friendlier. Friendlier I mean that it usually takes me 1-5 tries to get the prize. The larger the item, the more tokens it takes. For the case with these crane machines, if the item moves in an area that makes it impossible for the crane to reach, you can find a staff member, and they will move the item back to the original spot. Items in the crane machines are generally cute, and also tend to lean towards recently trending anime series. Occasionally, they offer collaborations with other series, so it's fun. This Round1 contains half of the room with crane games and arcade games, and then the remaining half contains bowling and eating area. Recently, within the arcade area, they added 3 rows of gatchapon machines. I played at the bowling alley once, but I think I'm just naturally more entertained with arcade and crane games. On weekends, the arcade side is bustling with rhythm game players in groups, and it's a joy to see them playing together. I was happy to see the Taiko game and Dance Dance Revolutions games to play some songs. I was impressed with the Taiko game; it updated with recently new songs from Japan. Recently discovered coin push games at Round1. I never was attracted to this type of arcade game, but there was one machine that combined RPG battling style. I also wasn't interested in ticket collecting to exchange for prizes either, but after trying different machines, I found one that will balance out my crane game or rhythm game enjoyment (but returns no tickets/points) to the coin push games.
