Owls Hoot Barn even has an in-house planning team you can hire, that is dedicated to serving OHB couples who need additional support. The Wedding Weekend (helped along by great weather!) went even better than I hoped for this client! I worked with Abigail to get some early setup done and she is a gem! The day of the wedding I was thoroughly impressed with the Venue's Staff, including the in-house food and beverage staff that worked seamlessly with the preferred catering company Forno Rosso. Ashley was such a huge help all day and quickly answered all my random questions and requests throughout the day. Our bartenders for the evening were Brandy and Terri and I never saw them without a smile as they helped guests. The F&B Staff were - always attentive and willing to help with small adjustments. From Jessica who helped make sure everything looked great and went according to plan, to Kerri's own daughter - everyone was polished, professionally dressed, and overall incredible. The property itself is stunning beyond belief, and having so many of our closest friends and family stay with us on-site made the entire weekend that much more special. The building itself is impressive, although maybe not quite as impressive as the castle-looking building next door. Our party of seven settled in at the bar as there otherwise did not seem to be a large enough table for all of us to gather around in either the main lounge area or a small room off to the side. The dark wood paneled walls, large fireplace, assortment of easy chairs, couches, and high desktop table gave off a feeling of warmth and welcoming. The friendly bartender introduced herself (sorry I've forgotten her name) and informed us that spirit-wise, the bar was capable of preparing the standard, traditional drinks like Manhattans, martinis, etc. All beers were poured from cans, and at my request, she recited the names of about six that were available. I don't believe anyone in our party inquired about the wines that were available. The building simply calls out for an explanation of its history. Upon our request, the bartender offered to provide either the "brief" or "full" option. We requested the full history. She was obviously well up to the task. You would be amazed at the variety of things you could learn here. Just to touch on a few key topics that were mentioned, consider Alexander Hamilton's wife, puffed rice, Bab-o cleanser (cue up the jingle), Bishop Gibbons, and an orthopedic surgeon. I don't know what the normal food arrangements are in the Lounge. I'm guessing that our out-of-town hosts requested some snacks for us as a few bowls appeared with mixed nuts, crackers and cheese, fresh grapes, humus, and warm pretzel/croissant rolls, and a plate of prosciutto wrapped cream cheese. Overall, the atmosphere here is simply friendly and inviting. I think it will become an occasional gathering place for our local friends when looking for a place that is quiet and relaxing.

The rooms are furnished with just the right amount of furniture allowing the room to feel light and airy. Each room is designed with the right amount of seating for flow and multiple conversation points without anyone feeling crowded or being interrupted by another conversation. Although the rooms have dark paneling the large windows and French doors allow for an abundance of light. The backyard is lovely and flows into Washington Park! Imagine having a whole park as your backyard!! I would love to come back for a stay!

The following paragraph, and the pictures attached, was from the email sent to the owner/operator after our first, and only, night. The email was resent after receiving a generic "Thank you for staying with us" email on 8/21/26. When we left in the morning I also sent a text message to the contact number we were given. As of the date of this review (8/30/26) I have received no response in any form. I cannot argue the lack of refund due to accepting the policy when booking but I would expect an acknowledgment of my communications. I will say that the common area inside did appear to be nicely maintained and clean. My rating is based on the significant differences between website photos/descriptions and actual conditions and the complete lack of response to my communications. "We were very disappointed in the condition of the inn. Aside from the cosmetic condition around the outside of the building, we were disappointed to find light bulbs out in our room, the bathroom doorknob that appeared ready to fall off, curtains and blinds that did not block the streetlights streaming in, missing blinds on one window, windows that could not be locked, no apparent climate control for our room (even a table fan would have been helpful), a thoroughly unimpressive view of basketball courts and a skate park (not Washington Park) from our window, and under the bed looked like it had not been cleaned. While the room was sufficient enough to sleep in for one night, we did not feel that it was worth staying as we were celebrating an anniversary and had expected a more intimate and comfortable stay. The pictures and descriptions from the website appeared to be somewhat misleading. Howes Caverns Motel is run by the Howes Cavern. When you're checking into your motel, you actually…read morehave to go to the cavern to check in. That's how you get your key. I attached the paperwork and the inside paperwork that is given to you when you come to the motel. You can see on the paperwork that there literally cannot be any emergencies or you'll get charged for them. We had something crawling above our heads the enter night. It sounded like something running fast in one room and something tiptoeing in the other room. This would not have been on their emergencies so we didn't call. We were woken up with pounding on our door from room service. We were not ready to get going at 8:24 in the morning so we had to get dressed to answer the door. Check out is by 11, which is normal and fine, check in had to be done by 3:45 or they would let us know where they were putting the keys? Needless to say, we checked in by 3:45. There were no food options, store options or any accommodations available after 3:45 PM. Do not have an emergency, they will charge you. Our experience was not pleasant and we will not be back to the motel. The pool was closed and that wasn't an option for us to do either.

The only down side to the shared bathroom was the water pressure, which made the shower more of a gentle mist than a shower. The pool was still open mid September which was great, however not heated so was a bit chilly to dip. Overall though this spot is clean, comfortable and a great value!

He gave us detailed recommendations on everything we asked for, and even called a bar, Helsinki, to check if there were any tables left as this place has minimal standing room (only he knew this as he is the expert on everything in town). Then, again we booked last-minute train tickets back home and gave him just 20 minutes notice. Barry insisted on making us breakfast-to-go and driving us to the train station there even though we had time to walk. In just 5 minutes, Barry made us the most savory yet simple sandwich (which was the topic of conversation for part of the train ride back.) His breakfast was the best meal we had during our entire weekend in Hudson - 100% fact. Eating breakfast outside on the porch was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. Location is walking distance from the best shopping and food in Hudson, as well as Amtrak. If anyone else is looking, this is the only place I'd recommend.
