We were on vacation from Florida and while traveling around the area we stopped by The Varsity for dinner. We've eaten here before many years ago when our kids were young. I remember the hamburgers being super tasty back then and always sparked a memory to want to come back. Today I honestly have to say the hamburger was disappointing. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't very good if you know what I mean... It was just OK and just had very little flavor. My wife and I both got the Glorified Hamburger with onion rings. The onion rings were VERY greasy!!! The fried Apple Pie really didn't have much taste to it other than greasy pie.... The Peach Pie was ok and had good flavor. My wife and I both liked the Fried Peach Pie the best. Our son-in-law said we should have gotten the Hotdog. He said he liked it. If we ever come back we will definitely get the hotdog for sure. The restaurant was clean. Everyone was friendly! The food came out very fast.

Eh. The burger was dry. I understand it's a staple in town so by all means go for it but you can def find a better burger at any of the fast food chains. Go for the experience and then don't go back lol.

I was here simply because I was chaperoning a field trip. I usually would not come to the Varsity. I will say that this location is better than the one in Atlanta. The burger was okay and so were the onion rings. The service was good, the cashier was patient as each chaperone had to order for their group of children.

The Varsity always fills me with memories of good days. Having spent time at the North Avenue Trade School (ME '89) I spend many days of my youth at the downtown location. The Kennesaw location is familiar when you walk in. The furniture and menu are the same, but the staff are a bit more relaxed, and a little slower. You don't have to worry about being yelled at if you step to the counter without your money out and your order ready. You can still hear a "Whatta ya have?" but overall the atmosphere is much more laid back. The prices seem a lot higher than I remember, but then the price of everything does. The food remains the same. One bite into those chili dogs or onion rings and my mind takes me back 35 years. Of course with the food being the same, I also know I am going to need some tums later this afternoon. I couldn't eat like this every day, but it is an occasional treat well worth it. I have to go 4 stars instead of 5 because of the price and the gastronomical distress I know will follow, but for pure enjoyment and memories it would be a 5.

Not the best ingredients. Not sure why Kent uses the phrase "Quality Foods"

Occasionally, I do find myself at the varsity. Whata you have, My standard order is two chili cheese dogs using pimento cheese, onion rings, a peach pie and varsity orange drink. After seeing what's in the hotdogs, I don't think I'll be ordering those anymore. Still love the varsity orange drink, and peach pie.

Just good ol' American fare! I thought all of the Varsity locations had ceased operation years ago and to see this one while out shopping for Christmas was a welcome surprise. I had the number one and a regular cheese burger. Everything was hot and delicious. They have a drive-thru window, outdoor dining, and a large parking lot. I recommend them for a quick lunch after shopping in the area.

I found myself in Atlanta, and being a lover of fast food, of course I had to try the Varsity. I might have gone to the original downtown, but the one in Marietta was just so much closer to where I was staying (with plenty of free parking,) so I took the easy way out. I had mentioned to an ATL native back home in Las Vegas, and when I mentioned to her that I was going to make a trip to the Varsity, she told me to get some Tums, as the hot dogs are total gut bombs, in her opinion. As it turned out, that was an exaggeration. The dogs are actually quite small, and you would have to down 2 or 3 of these tiny tubers to have the full gut bomb effect. I had one, so there was no issue. The weenie itself is a fine dog. I was expecting something flavorless, but it actually has a taste to it. Nothing overpowering, but it definitely has flavor and you will either like it or you won't. The chili is typical hot dog stand chili and the cheese is a mild cheddar, and that is a nice touch. The fries are fine, if a bit salty, and the fried peach pie is a pleasant junk food treat. So yeah, if you are in Atlanta (or Marietta) check it out.

My favorites are the chili burger and chili dog with onion rings. I moved away and just can't find anything near as good anywhere.

My only complaint is they aren't always so easy to find (btw, not worth docking them a star for this). Fatty (and wife) are like the Rogers and Hammerstein of food trucks. Their food is like a 3-act play and it's full of wonderful tunes along the way. Let's start with the opener: Act 1 - Potato Knish: This can best be described as a mashed potato turnover. They can be large, small, round, square...the ultimate Jewish snack food. You can get it with spinach and cheese or pepperoni for extra, but why mess with a classic. I like mine with a little salt and sauce (mustard works for me, but there is also Fatty's special spicy sauce). Yummmmmm. You cannot go wrong here. Fried taters. Yes please. Act 2 - The Dogs: Okay, I could go on and on here and they all have names and things that come on them, but I will tell you what I have had and I loved them both (and please don't ask me for names). A dog with peppers and onions (OMG, to die for) and a dog with mustard and slaw on top. Their slaw is creamy and crunchy - two things slaw should always be. Their dogs are all-beef Sabrett hot dogs and juicy and delicious. And Act 3 - Cannolis: Traditional cannolis with the chocolate chips dipped on the ends. Fabulous crunchy shell, not too sweet, but sweet enough to let you know this is the final act to your kick ass food truck indulgence. As they say - go big or go home. Fatty's doesn't skimp, so you definitely get your money's worth. Look for they around town and get yourself a full 3-act meal and you will not be sorry...but you might be full.

Eyyy, Fatty's! This…read moreis a husband-and-wife run food truck that serves up authentic New York style hot dogs and sausages along with other NYC favorites like cannolis, knishes, jumbo pretzels and Italian ices. The proprietor John is the real deal--he's been slinging out dirty water dogs since he was a young man in New York. He definitely knows how to dress up a delicious dog. I've had several of the menu items over two separate visits and highly recommend all of the dogs and sides that I've sampled. Fatty's Tex-Mex ($6): Quarter pound Sabrett all-beef dog with lettuce, onions, cheddar, black bean & corn salsa, chipotle cream. This one definitely has a southwestern flare that really compliments the beef hot dog's distinctive flavor. It's not really very spicy at all. "Da Bronx" ($6): Two all-beef Sabrett hot dogs with spicy mustard and Sabrett onion sauce. This one sound simple but it actually packs a wallop. The onion sauce has a nice zing that compliments the mustard. Potato Knishes ($4): Potato pancakes. Before Fatty's I had never tried a knish, so I can't speak to their authenticity; but they sure are tasty! You can add either pepperoni & cheese or spinach & cheese for $2. Cannoli ($4): Traditional cannolis with chocolate chips. These things taste way better than any other dessert I've tried from a food truck. Fantastic crunchy shell, decadent but not overly sweet. Get one with your meal. It's worthwhile, trust me. It seems like Fatty's spends many Saturdays at a Petsmart, and otherwise travels around to various office parks during the week and local festivals on the weekends. Try checking out their FB page or Twitter account to see where they'll be next. And be sure to come hungry--they don't skimp on the portion sizes!

We tried 3 burgers, 1 chicken sandwich, fries and tots all were good. Now this is greasy diner food so don't go in with unrealistic expectations. But this is a family place and a great option for the GF community. We will definitely be back! Just so you know...the chicken tenders, fried pickles and onion rings can be GF but are NOT dairy free. The fries and buns are GF and DF. MY only note we went on a Saturday and the bathroom floors were sticky and the booths needed a better wipe down. I know it's hard to get everything done but a little cleaner would have kicked it up to a 5 Star for me.

The buns are tall and branded. No. I didn't expect the buns to be branded. Hoped. But didn't expect. The buns, as you can see, were steamed to an inch from being soggy. Somehow the toasted interior still had a crunch. The fries. I will pay premium money for good fries. These were obviously fresh cut and had potential. What we got was a mix of the perfect cook with a few under done and a sprinkling of soggy fries. The truffle aioli was ok. Tasted more like warm cream than anything with flavor. Beverage station / condiment / napkin station is so tucked into the corner that only 1-2 people can is it at a time. Often, someone would get there drink and stand there, unknowingly blocking anyone ele se, waiting for their food. Again. Tasty burger. Kids loved there custard shakes.
