We are fans of the Varsity in Atlanta so we were pleasantly surprised to come to this location just a minute away from Lakepoint Station! After a fun filled few hours we were famished and pleasantly surprised by this clean and well run Varsity. The food was tasty, the prices were reasonable and the vibe was an old school diner. The Varsity as a whole has been serving good chili cheese dogs and chili cheese hamburgers since 1928 and it was great to experience the old school feel and ambiance. Drinks are coke products and free refills given. Service was friendly and fast and seats were comfortable. Tip: recommend having dessert here. The peach pie and apple pie here are fresh, warm, and delicious! Brownie is also wonderful. 4.2 stars rounded up because it's the Varsity! Thank you for a great and fun filled time! read more

We got a bacon double burger meal, two chili dog meal and two hot dog meal. The fries were hot and fresh, not brittle. My bacon burger was cooked well and tasted good. The varsity orange drink was good. Service was quick. I think two other groups and ours were all helped within 6 minutes. read more

I had not been to this location yet, saw these reviews and had to check on it. The food quality and presentation was exactly as I expected it to be. With 40+ years of experience enjoying this Atlanta staple it was exactly the way it should be. If you're visiting for the first time it's the way we love it. Try a cheese burger, chili dog, onion rings, grilled pimento cheese, or frosted orange. Service was fine, placed my order and got my food within expected time. The only time I've been to The Varsity was the one near Georgia Tech over 30 years ago. This one is in Cartersville off of I75. We ordered a cheeseburger & a bacon double cheeseburger. That is exactly what was on each - a mashed bun, hamburger, cheese & bacon. No onions, lettuce, pickles or lettuce. The ketchup and mustard were available to put on yourself. But really - do these really come with no onions, lettuce, pickles or lettuce? Who wants a burger without the fixings? Who sells plain burgers at a ridiculous price? Please tell me the order I received was neglected by the onion, lettuce, pickles & lettuce person! Only good was they did have good French fries & coke products. I LOVE The Varsity. I was so surprised to drive through Emerson and notice this new location opened. Yes!! The last time I went by it was still drive-through only. I could still get my fav combo, the #1, two chili dogs fries or rings and a drink. The food has been excellent here. Last time I got onion rings with my combo and they were amazing. Don't get your hopes up if you don't know The Varsity. It is fast food but it is my favorite. Lately, there has been a line at the drive through but it goes fairly quickly. The employees are usually smiling and polite. Nice! The address (even on the receipt) says Cartersville but it is just beside the wake park in Emerson. We had an event at LakePoint and I was so excited to try The Varsity because I have always heard the food is good and it is a must try when in the Atlanta area. The Service was fine but the food was very disappointing. We were there when they opened at 11:00 am. The food was cold, the hot dog buns were soggy, the French fries were under cooked and the onion rings were over cooked. First time at Varsity(cartersville) I love a good chili cheese and onion dog, for $16 and change i got 2 with onion rings and a drink. Couldn't of been more disappointed the quality of the hot dog was mush, the chili and cheese was on, they must of forgotten my onions. This service is awful. They were not busy, me and 1 other car. They messed up my order. I didn't catch it until I had already pulled through. I parked to go in but only the drive thru is open. Someone met me by the door wanting me to go back to the drive thru to get the order fixed; however cars were piling in and it was 5 deep; so just requested a refund.
