The Vault was the first place that Jon and I got to sit down and relax once we made it to New York. We arrived in Beacon and needed a little drink and snack break, and of course I wanted that to be in a cozy spot on Beacon's scenic main street. The Vault was the perfect choice; an historical bank building (hence its name) turned into a restaurant and bar. It was virtually empty when we strolled in around 4pm on a Tuesday. We love to sit at the bar, so we cozied up and ordered a couple drinks, oysters, and shishito peppers. The oysters tasted nice and fresh and the shishito peppers were really good, but honestly a little too spicy somehow. They usually aren't that hot (what do they say, 1 in 7 is spicy?) -- but these guys were hot! Our bartender was really kind and answered our questions about Beacon. She gave us recommendations for other spots to visit as well, and let us know that a lot of places are closed on Monday and Tuesdays. I'm actually sad we didn't have a bigger meal at The Vault because I really enjoyed what we did have. Next time! read more

This place was amazing. When we met up with friends, plus family we all decided to have dinner together which then was like oh wow a lot of people on a Saturday night with no reservations? Uh ohhh lol. After being told 9 pm at another place, yeah let us just walk around for 4 hours until dinner with a back then 3 year old lol. We remembered seeing this place and walked over. Right away we were seated so this place saved the day. The vault was really cool looking and food was delicious. We had the best waiter who took care of us so well. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine at the Hudson Brewery and decided to wrap up our evening at The Vault. However, when we arrived there at 8:30, the staff greeted us without much enthusiasm and told us the kitchen was closed. We specifically picked this restaurant because their website said they were open until 10:00. It was quite surprising that on a Saturday night at 8:30, they were turning away customers! Not to worry, though! We quickly headed over to Brother's Trattoria across the street. They welcomed us with open arms, and the food was definitely worth it. We were in the area for a hike, and stopped in Beacon for dinner. The Vault had outdoor seating, and sat us right away. Post drinks, we ordered shishito peppers (quite tasty) and roasted beets (decent) as appetizers. One of us had the angus burger with truffle fries and I had the southwestern salad with seared tuna. The salad was great though the tuna was quite bland and I regretted not ordering the chicken on top or leaving the salad without a protein. The food though was promptly brought out and the staff was efficient. The outside area was covered and it was quiet enough to talk at normal voices. One minor issue was my chair and it's relationship to the height of the table -- I had to sit on my leg to feel like I could reach my food. read more

A large group of us were trying to find a place to stop in and eat lunch and and we happened upon this spot. Normally, I seek out places to eat/menu's before I dine in but this was a nice surprise. The interior feels somewhat rustic with all of the brick/ brown interior and details. The place feels like they would serve up something reminiscent of comfort food, which I would argue that they do, just as tapas style. A standout for me and something I would recommend is the short rib grilled cheese. I came in the fall and this was the perfect little bite for lunch. Everything we had was pretty tasty and the service was good. A decent restaurant for the area. 4/5 read more

I love the town of beacon. So many great places to shop and eat. The vault is our new spot for brunch and what makes it more favorable is that their dog friendly. They have a great sitting area outside to enjoy, As we sat down to order, the first thing I said was "I hope they have mimosa" the waitress who was super friendly and kind must of heard me said they have a $6 brunch special for mimosas and bloody Mary's, so I went with my usual a grand mimosa. Everything on the menu, eventhough a bit pricey sounded delicious, we went ahead an started with an order of truffle fries (delicious) and their short rib grilled cheese (which was amazingly good) after my appetizers I ordered a kale ceaser with grilled shrimp. I wasn't a fan of that kale salad which came with sardines that made the salad very salty, however the shrimp was nice and fresh. Overall I enjoyed this place a lot, I'm hoping to return very soon this summer and this time I'll definitely bring my dog milo. read more

We ordered several of the tapas, including the Mac n cheese, iron steak, Buffalo cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, potatoe croquets and short rib grilled cheese. The food was great! The bartender was also personable and very knowledgeable about cocktails. He asked us questions about flavors and preferred liquor and then crafted us some amazing cocktails. For dessert, I obviously had the churros ... one of my faves! This restaurant is a small space and there are maybe 7 seats at the bar top. It was quiet on the Thursday night we were there, which was great for chatting. We got lucky with this restaurant pick. The menu was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, this place closes on the earlier side, but there were plenty of other bars nearby still open to continue our night. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be sure to stop by! read more

This place is OK, that's it. The food is extremely average. I am a vegetarian and they had some options. I ordered the fried cauliflower and Mac and cheese. The fried cauliflower was decent, not the best I've had but certainly not the worst; prob the only thing we truly enjoyed. The Mac and cheese was ... dare I say... too cheesy? The sauce was liquidy and either needed to be thicker or more noodles. My husband got the chicken tinga tacos and just from the look of it- it lacked flavor. They also have NO HOT SAUCE?? I like a lot of things about The Vault. All of the food is beautiful. In the summertime, sitting outside is fantastic. Some of the food is quite tasty (shortrib grilled cheese, crispy brussels sprouts and the brûlée figs are definitely winners). For the garlic parmesan wings, they don't mean a mere rub. They dump a ton of melty parmesan over the top of the wings. Brian, our server, knows what he's doing. He's friendly, attentive without being annoying, and made great recommendations. As good as servers get, and a credit to the whole organization. Unfortunately, there are also some things I don't love about The Vault. The food is prettier than it is tasty. There's so much emphasis on presentation that I think the cookery suffers in some cases. The scallops are gorgeous, but I'd trade the edible flowers and excellent sear for more seasoning and perhaps a fresher scallop. The salmon cake sliders could've used both salt and acid, and the salmon was overcooked and dry as well. The brûlée figs were not only stunning visually, but a tasty bite as well. Actually four tiny, tasty bites for $10, but I could've taken them all down in one. Most restaurants in Manhattan wouldn't dare serve such tiny portions for the money, and I imagine their rent is worse than The Vault's. I'll be back for more pretty plates and wine and beer in the sunshine, but I do wish all the food lived up to the promise of its presentation, and that some of the plates presented a little more value for the money. read more

With no reservations, we leisurely walked in and hostess sat us by the window. It instantly, gave us a wide view of Vault's details: dark wood floors, soft glow from hanging lamps- even during the day and exposed brick walls......come on. What also gives Vault more sazz, is the painted-over tin ceiling that just gives off nice touches of vintage and charm. All combined, the setup does it right! Even though it wasn't Brunch, I still started with a Mimosa on a lazy Monday afternoon. Settled on Stewed Mussels and Shrimp Bisque and our server, was kind enough to go to the kitchen and had cooks, retrofitting my Mussel dish without the chorizo. Thank you! Mussels in tomato-based broth were flavorful- but what really got me drooling was my Shrimp Bisque with Chili and Cilantro oils. Prices (as I remember) seemed fair and nothing was too over the top for Vault's range of menu items. There was some random slowness but our server, whose name I didn't catch, seemed on top! The afternoon here was definitely calm, cool and collected. Can I base my opinion on just a few meals? Yeah...I think so. Could I recommend anyone to check out Vault? I don't see why not. A couple friends and I were visiting Beacon for the weekend and decided to try The Vault. It was the best dining experience I had all weekend. The tapas are delicious! We shared 6 plates and all were amazing but the highlights were the brussel sprouts and the croquettes. The Mac and cheese was also really good. We walked in on a Saturday night around 8:30 with no reservation and they were able to seat us within five minutes. Our waiter was excellent. I discovered that this place scored 3.5 on Yelp only after I finished eating here. The restaurant looks nice on the outside, but the food is very mediocre (is "very mediocre" like 0.5 points below "mediocre"? idk). We ordered the Burrata appetizer. The menu described it as having prosciutto, but really?? It was served with literally an inch of prosciutto as a garnish on top of the burrata. Don't tell me you will give me bacon/prosciutto if it's literally less than an entire slab. I was seriously disappointed. Also, there was a weird yellow sauce drenching the burrata, so it appeared as if I was about to dig into a yellow, instead of white, burrata?? I gave it the benefit of the doubt and dug into the weird yellowy film covering it, but I couldn't even tell what sauce? Or even what the hell it was?? Even to this moment, idk wtf. The tapas are extremely overpriced for the portion sizes. I understand we ordered tapas but with the average price being about $15 per item, I was expecting much more. Calamari - A handful of fried calamari on a large dish. My friend said it was decent but the size for the price ($16) was ridiculous. Truffle fries - Nice and crispy fries... with absolutely zero truffle flavor for $11. Chicken Tacos - My friend enjoyed these but again, small portion for the price. Not as bad as the other items ordered. Southwestern Salad - Tiny salad with a sprinkle of each listed ingredient... for $16. Brussels Sprouts - The best part of our meal! A generous portion of perfectly crisp Brussels sprouts. The reason for the 2 stars. I'm guessing this is more of spot to get drinks? I hope? I couldn't tell you though because we didn't order any. So, as a decent husband, I tried to set up a dinner for my wife on Mother Day. We were offered availability at 6:30 or 7:00, I chose 6:30. We arrived at 6:30, I dropped my wife and son off and went to find parking. When I got to the restraint about 6 minutes later, they had been seated and water delivered to the table. I sat, and then we proceeded to wait 25 minutes (no exaggeration) as watered and waitresses passed by out me table. No "we'll be right with you" or anything. Finally a waitress comes over and apologizes as she was on break and wasn't told she had a table waiting....OK, no big deal. Up to this point, we weren't super happy, but we also would never have voiced any concern (my wife and I aren't typically vocal about bad service and just let it roll off). The restaurant is tapas style service, so it's pretty normal to order additional plates of food after your initial order. A while into our meal, the server comes over an announces that the kitchen is closing. At this point we had been served our first round of dishes and felt a little rushed to order the second round. We had been there just about an hour at this point, of which about 1/2 had been spent waiting. Another patron who had been sat after us, had words with the staff and stormed out after he found out he only had a few minutes to order after he had been seated. We ate our second plates, and sat for unattended for a while and then were handed the check. No offer of desert or coffee or anything like that. Up to this point we had had pleasant interactions with the staff, but felt the need to (politely) voice our concerns. We were told that the chef had decided he had been there since 11am was going home at 7 and that was that, grill off. Bottom line, food was good, kind of expensive for tapas, but everything tasted good. The service was borderline, it may have just been a mistake on the waitresses part that she didn't realize there was a table waiting. Overall the experience was weird and left my wife and I looking at each other thinking what is going on here. I would rate it as poor and due to the cook and some of the staff just not seeming to understand how a restaurant restraint experience should go. read more

Cons: don't sit next to the window to the kitchen where you can hear them clanging and banging as they wash dishes. (We moved tables). Food is incredibly bland. Low and behold, the ambiance was super quaint. Apparently, this restaurant is located in an old bank vault, hence the name "The Vault". We ordered a ton of dishes. We ordered the corn and parmesan fritters, brûlée figs (without the prosciutto), the flatbread, and artisanal cheese platter. For drinks, I had the Daisy Mule and my boyfriend had Tony's Toddy. Both drinks were fantastic, with no complaints. In order of most favorite to least tapas I would say: brûlée figs, artisanal cheese platter, corn and parmesan fritters and the flatbread. For dessert we ordered Tres Leches, which was a HUGE portion for a tapas place. Not complaining though. The Tres Leches had a lot of creamy frosting which I wasn't a fan of. It also wasn't dense enough for me. But it still helped my sweet tooth. The staff was very warm, patient and accommodating. Overall, I recommend this place. read more

My husband and I came to beacon to celebrate his birthday . We decided to stop into the vault for a mid day cocktail . Sadly , the whole experience was one of the worst I've ever had. The bartender was completely rude the entire time we sat at her bar . She never once greeted us or looked up to see if we needed anything . The appetizer I ordered came out ice cold and when I asked if this is how it's prepared her attitude and answer was ridiculous . The plus of me questioning the taste of the frozen buratta was that the bartender did remove it from our bill . When I politely mentioned how I appreciated her taking appetizer off the bill , she did not look up or acknowledge my appreciation . The Vault provides a nice atmosphere for a night out but the food could step it up a notch. The menu had a nice variety of tapas and sharing plates. My friends and I shared the Mussels, Cast Iron Scallops, Shrimp Summer Rolls, and Shaved Cauliflower Salad. The presentation of the food was beautiful, however the taste was very bland. The mussels were delicious and flavorful, however, the scallops lacked flavor and the texture of the raw cauliflower salad was odd. While I wish the food tasted better, I did enjoy my dinner experience as the atmosphere and service was friendly. read more
