We stopped here for lunch one weekday afternoon and are the only patrons dining in so we had lofty expectations of a quick delicious meal. We ordered cauliflower wings and one empanada as apps and a kid's chkn tenders along with a bakon burger (sub chkn) for our mains. It took 28 minutes before we saw any food. The cauliflower wings were large and def made with fresh cauliflower (with that familiar raw crunch). The batter was raw inside- my guess is the oil temp was high so the outside cooked fast but left a lot of mush inside. The empanada was okay, very light on the filling. Another 19 minutes go by before the kid's chikn tenders come out. Apparently the cook is new and messed up on the bakon burger forgetting to sub the chkn so had to wait yet another 7 minutes for that. Chkn tenders were pretty much the gardein seven grain product and the kiddo seemed to be pleased. The bakon burger, when it finally arrived was a huge disappointment. The bottom bun was dry and hard. It would clank when I tapped it against the plate. There were a few drops of mayo in the middle leaving the entire sandwich dry with a cold slice of cheese- no attempts at melting. I did provide this feedback to our server, who was polite and even went to the back potentially to see if an accommodation could be made. However, none were made and we walked away knowing this was a one and done restaurant. read more

My brother is vegan so I am always looking for a place where we can both enjoy the food and options, I was really excited to find The Vegan Factory and give it a try! The decor is cute- kind of a botanical theme, I loved the green velvet chairs. We came around opening time but the place was freezing. The waiter that was there mentioned the heater has been broken for awhile, he did get us a space heater which helped take the edge off but it was a freezing windy day so those of us a little further from the heater remained quite chilled. Pros- -Hands down the selection of juices were my favorite part. It's so hard to find Tamarind and Soursop juices outside of major cities. -The mofonguitos were delicious, lots of flavor and texture, I shared with my group and everyone really enjoyed it. The meat was not missed and I was pleasantly surprised the quinoa worked so well here. -My son didn't seem to notice or mind that the chick'n tenders weren't really the chicken he is used to -Many options that you cannot always easily find when looking for vegan cuisine Cons- -It's the type of place where it's unclear what is supposed to occur, does the waiter come to you or do you order at the front desk (same for paying, we ended up going up there in the end to pay)? There is a refrigerator of drinks that is customer facing and in the dining room so we grabbed some drinks while we waited for the waiter to come take our order, but when he came he seemed confused as to why we got our own drinks. I hate when places are confusing like this, I think it's meant to feel relaxed but it does the opposite and makes me anxious and uncomfortable. - I wasn't asked nor given sauce for the cauliflower wings. By the time we were checked on it was too late to ask because most of them were eaten. It's a shame because they had a nice crispy outside and probably would have been really tasty with sauce. -my rice and beans were surprisingly bland and didn't seem worth the money as I could have similar at home or for less. I love The Vegan Factory! I've visited twice and my friends and I keep saying we need to go back, haha. The Vegan Factory started in the Bronx, NYC and opened a second location in Linden, NJ! The space is cute and cozy. Everything is 100% vegan. The menu consists of classic sandwiches like El Patacon, Mexican dishes like tostadas, burgers, sandwiches and dessert. My friends and I started off with a guava natural juice which was delicious. They have other flavors like passion fruit and tamarin. To share, we had to get the nachos. I ordered them on both visits, they are one of the best vegan nachos I've had yet! For my main dish I ordered El Vegan Cubano in between two fried plantains and it came with fries. It was too good! I've always wanted a sandwich in between two fried plantains but it always has meat so to have an option that's vegan is exciting. Their dessert options are always fuego! They mix it up which I like. The time I visited they had a Dominican dessert, tres leches, rice pudding, funfetti cake and more. The service at The Vegan Factory makes you feel like you're family! Everyone is super knowledgeable about the food and drinks, and they suggest options you may like. My last visit I was grateful to have met the owners who are very sweet! I highly recommend this place! Cute decor and very cozy. Hailey did an amazing job at providing excellent customer service! This young lady set the bar on how to treat customers and make them feel their money is appreciated. The food was delicious. My favorite was the El Patacón. Had the perfect crunch to it. Wow! Was my first impression with the food. I came in as a walk in with my best friend who is fully vegan and her baby. I was recommended this location from a friend and so glad we visit. We were greeted by Karla and she was very nice and recommended a few popular dishes for us to try. My friend and I ordered the mofonguitos which are plantain cups with quinoa vegan ground beef, pico de gallo, cilantro sauce,sour cream and crispy onions! This would definitely be my top choice of all the orders the blend was fantastic. We also ordered the nachos which had black beans, salsa, quinoa, jalapeno, pico de gallo, salsa, cheese and sour cream. And lastly the chopped cheese which had the ground beef, cheese lettuce tomatoes onion mayo and ketchup. I also ordered the passion fruit natural juice which was delicious. My friend and I enjoyed our visit the flavors were all amazing we couldn't have picked a better place. Ambiance is spacious and we loved their flower wall. Street parking is available. Just popped up at this amazing place that my wife & I seen on the maps , while driving from purchasing a car... & to our surprise, the Food was everything ... this was my 3rd Dominican vegan food experience... WOW !! They are holding it down for us vegan ... The Dominican people are coming thru for us clean eating vegans.... Went there on a Saturday night and the place wasn't full, only 2 other tables. We started off great. We had a hibiscus drink and a coke. The waiter was great and friendly. And that's where it ends. Our Yaroa fries came out and the cheese wasn't melted. I understand how small that is but it makes a difference. Then our main dishes came out. I order their "Cuban Sandwich" and boy was that a huge disappointment. The sandwich barely had any filling in it. It was mainly bread with TONS of mustard and a pickle with hardly any mushrooms or bakon. For $17 I'm going to need more than bread and mustard. I informed our server and he said "that's how they normally come out". I told him that I didn't want to eat bread and mustard and to please fix this. He said there was no manager on duty right now but he would call to see what he can do. He goes in the back and comes and says, "this is how our Cuban comes and all we can do for you is bring out extra mushrooms". I asked "ok, what about the bakon? Can I get more of that too since I only got one small piece". He came back with a QUICK "no". He asked if they could take my sandwich and remake it. I agreed to that and he came back with another "Cuban Sandwich" that did have more mushrooms but it was still ALL mustard. All I tasted was mustard. What a waste of money. My friend ordered their El Paracon and she said the tostones needed more salt. She, over all enjoyed her meal. This was just not worth the money. It was interesting to hear the server say, "no one ever complains". He's right, I think people don't complain, they just never go back and I agree because I know I won't. So excited to see a vegan restaurant in this part of Jersey. Brought my family here today for some delicious vegan food. And the food in fact was delicious! The decor was very nice, it had a tropical feel. The hostess was very attentive and answered all our questions as our son has food allergies. We ordered the chi-kin chimi, the amazing burger, patacon and spring rolls. One of our amazing burger orders did not come out as we specified but the waitress was very apologetic and fixed the food immediately. The reason why I didn't give the full 5 stars was due to the following: 1) We were dining in and we received no cutlery and no napkins. I had to get up and request it. Even though we ordered mostly sandwiches they were messy so cutlery and napkins were needed especially with kids, it really is essential. 2) All the sandwiches were dripping. The amount of sauce was way too much where we got our hands dirty the second you picked it up. 3) We waited for the order for over 40+ mins, you can't do that to people who come in with kids. Needless to say they got hangry waiting on their food so for me this is not acceptable. 4) sorry to mention this but there were flies all around us. As soon as the food came out, the flies were everywhere, not sure if the hot humid day has to do with it but this also needs to be remedied asap. Our food was so good so packed the leftovers for home. We really want this place to win and hope the small things can be addressed. I call myself patronizing a new vegan restaurant in Linden. I walk in at 740p wait at least 10 mins before someone even addresses me. Then the host (i guess) tells me their not taking anymore orders.
