I'm really going to miss this place. For years, it's been my favorite spot for vegan food (and Red…read moreCup) in OKC, and I always appreciated how much thought went into the menu. The cashew mac and cheese was always my top pick...hard to beat for comfort food, vegan or not. Thank you for all the years of great food and service. Wishing everyone the best as you move on to new things. The restaurant will be missed, but all the good you brought to the community will stick around for a long time.

While returning home from a cross country trip, I discovered this restaurant via the HappyCow app…read more Upon visiting their website, I saw that their options were either pickup or delivery so I called to inquire about nut free menu options since hubby is deathly allergic to nuts. The employee who answered the phone was friendly and knowledgeable in informing me that they have two nut free bowl options which are the orange chicken and the sesame rice bowl. Since hubby also wanted a buffalo chicken sandwich, I asked the employee if this food item contained nuts and after confirming with another employee, she replied that the sandwich was also nut free and consists of their store made chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, cabbage, and vegan ranch. Following my phone call and after reviewing the restaurant's menu online, I ordered the down home bowl consisting of cashew mac and cheese, their store made TLB chicken tossed in BBQ sauce, grilled broccoli and topped with green onion while hubby got the orange chicken bowl as well as the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Upon arriving at the restaurant, hubby and I were warmly greeted by a restaurant employee and I was pleasantly surprised that once could order inside the restaurant in addition to the online pickup and delivery options. The inside of the restaurant has an upbeat atmosphere with happy, bouncy music playing as well as various signs of solidarity with. Inside the restaurant, visual signage show customers the difference in bowl sizes between their standard regular bowl and a larger loaded bowl. Although I was excited to be able to purchase a premade orange chicken wrap to eat for the next day while on the road trip home, unfortunately, hubby was saddened to learn that their gravy for their mashed potatoes contains walnuts. The food pickup process was efficient and I was happy to be able to purchase additional sauces, premade wrap to go, and drinks to accompany our meal. Overall, the food was cooked well, presented beautifully, and was very tasty as well as filling. With a variety of menu options to choose from as well as generous portion sizes, I absolutely plan to visit "The Loaded Bowl" the next time I'm in the Oklahoma City area.

However, I am really tired of their inconsistent approach to requiring identification when ordering alcohol. A few years ago we were there for dinner and we ordered wine. They asked for my DL and I produced it. They asked for my wife's and she didn't have it with her. When we go out she does not take a purse, wallet or phone. So they would not serve her. We left. Then a few years go by and they never ask for ID. Then the next time they want ID. Sometimes they ask for ID, sometimes they don't, and we are well beyond that time in our life where anyone would question whether we are 21. This is the only restrauant, anywhere we have had the ID problem for my wife. Maybe Odell's law is helping the situation. With respect to food and service for this meal it was all very good. They may have the best fish and chips in OKC.

This place isn't your typical brunch destination at first glance, but that actually made me even more interested in giving it a try. Parking is street parking only. It is not the worst situation, but depending on the time of day you might need to drive around a little before finding an open spot. It is manageable, just don't expect to pull right up to the door unless you get lucky. Once we walked inside, my party was greeted almost immediately. We were seated quickly, and the space had a warm, inviting feel. It struck a nice balance between classic and modern, almost like a hidden gem that still has a polished, slightly upscale atmosphere. It felt familiar and comfortable, but still special enough for a weekend brunch. Our server was friendly and attentive. He checked on us several times, but always timed it well so it never felt like he was interrupting the conversation or the flow of the meal. I ordered the Okie Breakfast along with the Hot Stack Waffles. The standout item on the plate was the soft scrambled eggs. I usually don't think too much about restaurant eggs one way or the other, but these were genuinely delicious, even without cheese. They were creamy, flavorful, and cooked exactly right. Honestly, I don't think I've had scrambled eggs at a restaurant this good before. The brunch potatoes were equally impressive, seasoned well and cooked to that perfect balance of crispy edges and soft centers. The bacon and sausage didn't quite hit the same level for me. They were fine, but not memorable. The bacon could have used a little more time on the grill to give it a crispier texture instead of the softer bite it had. The sausage links were acceptable but didn't add anything special to the dish. They felt more like standard breakfast sausage rather than something that elevates the plate. I was really looking forward to the bacon biscuits and gravy, especially since most places serve it with sausage gravy instead. Unfortunately, this part of the meal fell short. The biscuits were quite thick, and the gravy itself felt a little too light. I think the dish would have tasted much better if the biscuits had been split open, buttered, and had the gravy poured over both halves so the flavor could soak in. Instead, it leaned on the dry side, even though there was gravy on the plate. As for the Hot Stack Waffles, they surprised me. The first few bites were absolutely delicious, but after that I noticed a caramelization on the outside that made them extremely sweet. It almost tasted like candy, which gave me a bit of a sugar overload. Without syrup, the sweetness was already intense, and with syrup it became too much for my taste. The texture was nice and smooth, but the sweetness was stronger than what I usually look for in waffles. Drinks were exactly what you'd expect. It's hard to go wrong with champagne and juice, and they were simple, refreshing, and enjoyable. Overall, I had a nice experience. The service was good, the environment felt comfortable, and there were definitely some standout parts of the meal, especially the eggs and potatoes. I'm not sure if I would go out of my way to return during my next visit to Oklahoma City, but I do think it is worth trying at least once if you are local or nearby. There is potential here, and depending on what you order, you might walk away very happy.

All secondary roads are still snow packed so at 11:30 there was only one other couple in the restrauant. The Press is in an old (1920's ?) repourposed building. The interior is comfortable, charming and a bit whimsical. We started with an order of cheese sticks. They were very good and large. I liked that the cheese sticks did not have Italian seasoning in the breading. Jan ordered the chicken fried ribeye with mashed potatoes, cream gravey and green beans. Jan loved it. I took a bite of the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. The green beans were very good. They were loaded with garlic, which I love, but if you're not a garlic fan, I would suggest another side. I ordered the grilled chicked sandwich with waffle fries. The sandwich was good and the waffle fries were excellent. The portions are large and the food quality excellent. The prices reasonable. The menu has variety. You can't go wrong by dining at The Press.

My friends chose the Press Cobb and Breakfast Bomb. They were both very pleased and stated there was many options on the menu they would be interested in trying.

I was delighted to find out that our hotel was only 2 miles from this highly acclaimed restaurant. Upon entering, I immediately felt the welcoming atmosphere. We were warmly greeted by the host. The inside is lovely, modern and well laid out. It's perfect for date night or hanging with friends. The host chatted with us, explained the restaurant concept, and answered all my questions. We got the Baked Chèvre for our appetizer. It was layered with flavor and a most delicious and perfect bite for a cold evening. My entree was the Rainbow Trout. The fish had crispy skin and was moist, flaky, and well seasoned. The broad bean mixture served with it was equally delicious. The hubby had Honey Roasted Lavender Chicken which he declared to be one of the best chicken dishes he's ever had. He even raved over the vegetables that came with it. Of course I also had to try dessert. I loved my warm spice cake with a scoop of ice cream and swirls of buttery caramel rum sauce. The cake was so moist and paired perfectly with the sauce and ice cream. Our wait staff was friendly and professional. I forgot to jot down names so I could give them a shout out. Excellent staff is always a part of an excellent dining experience. This was just a delightful experience. The host even gave us the name of some nearby live music venues that we enjoyed later that evening. We will certainly return here the next time we are in OKC. If you are ever in the city, make a reservation and stop by for a fabulous experience.
