I am liking the new facilities.
    Jai E.

It is newly "renovated" and it is better than it was. You no longer need to go outside to get into The Venue which is a bonus in the winter. I don't enjoy that there is only one level seating. If you are in the back rows just hope you're tall enough to see. It still seems a bit temporary in the sense that you have to leave The Venue to use the restrooms. However there is one just outside the doors so the trek is not the worst. I like the progress. I can't wait to go back when it is fully completed.

    New balcony with seating.

I literally don't do anything else here but try to teach myself to play craps. So basically, my experience here has been great because the dealers, pit bosses, and stickmen (or women), have been SO nice and helpful while I've been learning to play. Even though it is super fun, I don't find craps to be easy to pick up, like at all. Throughout my game they're always helping me understand the rules and bets better. I often have a lot of questions and they're very good at answering those questions for me. The first time I played it was confusing asf. Now it is not too bad. I am very thankful for all the free (I tip them of course) walk-throughs on how to play. It is straight up like having buddies that let you know what to do! I know they need to bring over two to three staff members to get this game going, and working the game seems extremely difficult. I have no clue how they keep track of everything going on, but they do it, and still find time to coach me. Lovely people!

Friends of ours had a 50% off discount code for the general admission tickets so we were able to get 4 seats for $85. There are ringside and VIP seating also available which is closer to the ring. We stood in line and had to have our hard copy printed tickets ready to hand over. Upon entering, you're greeted with the scent of popcorn, mini donuts, and hot dogs. All the food items were your basic circus food, nothing out of the ordinary but the prices were sky high. $5 for a bottle of water (Nestle Life water), $5 for a can of pop, $5 for small cotton candy, $5 for a hot dog, $20 for a bucket of mini donuts. They also had some pretty cool light up wands which were $30 each. Face painting was available for $15 and pony rides (which were basically dwarf horses hooked up to a circular thing that guides them to walk in a circle) were $15 as well. The performances were spectacular and the kids and adults alike were all amazed with the acts. Highly recommend for this alone as this was everyone's favourite part. Just like everything recovering from the pandemic has been hard for the circus and so this was their first year back on the road. I look forward to many more circuses to come in the future and will be prepared for the cash spend next time.

We have been going annually to the Mayfield for our wedding anniversary for over 10 years now…read more Until now, we have been very happy with our choice, except perhaps for the time they did improv. This year, we happened to go the first week of the new season, Simon and Garfunkle. The show was excellent, the two singers channelling Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle perfectly. The only fault I could find with the show was that the drums were inappropriately loud. I have S&G vinyl that I just played to prove that my memories of the 60's are quite correct: The drums on the original are very subdued. The likely cause is that the program had a long resume for the drummer. Likely his ego was as puffed up as his resume. Where we were disappointed was with the dinner. It's always a buffet and excellent if you arrive as soon as the doors open. This time, we chose the brisket from the carvery and found it quite dry. The baked desserts were stale, as if they had been saved for the month the MDT was closed. Everything elsa was freshly made, salads and the items on the steam tables. Another problem was with the air conditioning. My wife complained that it was too cold in the theatre and was told that nothing could be done about it. Thankfully, the staff brought her a fuzzy warm blanket that she was able to wrap around herself. Before the show started, I looked around and another man in short sleeves was wrapped up as well. There had been a late summer heat wave which would have required cooling one or two nights before. The MDT should have been able to adapt more quickly. Hopefully when our anniversary rolls around next year, the MDT will be back on its game.

It is one of those cute Valentine's type of shows that they play that time of year. Fairly predictable but enjoyable. The service we recieved was excellent considering that it was a buffet but the servers were attentive and our water and wine glasses were always topped up. Buffet is large and extensive. I normally dislike buffets but here they are well executed. Salad bar, a small seafood session (didn't enjoy the sushi rolls), cheese section. What has changed is instead of the prime rib station was replaced with a striploin and beef brisket station. I tried a piece of each. They were certainly not stingly. I am surprised on how much I enjoyed the striploin. But for a girl that doesn't like sweets, I love the Mayfield dessert choices. They are bite size so you can try a selection. I always get the rice pudding. So for a fairly predictable night out for both food and entertainment, which you won't be blown away but you won't be disappointed, try here.

Best thing to do is purchase your passes online before you go because you'll save a little bit of money that way. If you sign up for their emails you'll also get a chance to purchase 2 for 1 passes or multiple entry discounted passes. I purchased 2 family passes for a discounted price of 25% off. At the grounds themselves they have a farmers market with local goodies, a mini farm where you can feed the animals, potato guns, wagons to pull the kids in, lots of picnic benches for having lunch (which you can bring yourself btw). Depending on the time of season you go, they also have a sunflower field for awesome pictures, and you can purchase sunflower stems to take home. They also have a pumpkin patch in the fall for great photo ops and pumpkins for purchase too. On top of all that x there are games and jumping pillows for the kids and just soooooo much fun. The maze itself changes every year so it's always something new when you come. It takes about 1.5 hours to complete so be ready with your walking shoes or wagons. Overall this is a super fun family friendly activity to enjoy and I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't been before.

The chairs are pretty standard for a venue like this and the stage set up looks pretty versatile. I liked the fact that the restroom was for all genders. There was some great art on display and for purchase as well. While this neighborhood is not one I visit frequently, it is an easily transit accessible location and there was street parking available in the area (I understand this is pretty limited when there's an event going on at the Stadium however). The building looks well weathered but well used as a live music venue. Purchasing tickets in advance was easy and the associated website was good. I'd definitely go to another show here. There is good acoustics for the venue in general. Signage isn't great -- it would be better if the building had better identification.

From the outside it still looks like a house but it's a funky house, the window coverings are pretty iconic of The Aviary already! The cool thing is, now that it's finished I can really see how much work they have put into the place! The entrance way is more like a venue (and less like walking into a living room) it brings you round to the bar and where you pay cover etc, once properly inside the space has a nice bar the length of the room, a handful of tables and chairs, decent size stage at the back, local art displayed all round and awesome sound! The vibe is cosy, and there big emphasis on supporting local artists - I dig that. I like the beer listings on the wall - mostly craft beer and Phil knows a lot about them and recommended a really nice lager to me while I was there. I already love watching bands in this space and can't wait to go back.
