I'd recommend the Victor but I would add this disclaimer: they add a 20% service fee to their bill. I do not have issue with a service fee. What I have issue with is that the fee is added to the total bill and then it's taxed. A fee should NOT be taxed. It should be added to the bill AFTER the taxed amount in the same way as a tip should not be applied to the taxed total. Stopped in twice this week, brunch on Sunday and dinner on Thursday. Brunch was great, the eggs we perfectly cooked and the thick cut bacon was so good! The mimosas were sparkling wine with a hint of juice, brilliant! Dinner....well dinner was a bit of a different story. I work as a chef, just thought I'd throw that disclaimer in there. I've never understood why making many things on your menu spicy without a hint on the menu that they are is a thing. We ordered the wedge salad to split....it was spicy....never have I ever had to ask a restaurant "is your wedge salad spicy?" My wife ordered the Victory burger...the sauce was spicy...we've never had to ask "are your burgers or the sauce on them spicy?" Its great if you want spicy to be the thing you're striving for, just make sure that's clearly stated on the menu. Also some people are allergic to cayenne or red pepper flakes or whatever you use in the dressing and burger sauce, you have to make sure it's on the menu. We had such a lovely time! We came to bowl, and only intended to get appetizers and drinks. When we saw that it was happy hour and that they had some dinner options, we decided to get food as well. The French dip sliders were one of the better things I've eaten in quite some time. The fries were good, and the malt vinegar aioli was great! I have been to Victor Tavern 3 times since their opening, each time with a different group of friends. The service has always been excellent. The food has been okay to good. I enjoyed the veg burger while my friends state the beef burger is average. The Phoenix (Chix sandwich) is a hit as are the pillowy polenta fries. Calamari is tender and has a nice light breading. The pretzel bites are dry, tough and lacking flavor. We really like the vibe but are still looking to be wowed by the food. Good was way over priced. $28 dollars for a French dip on an outdoor hot dog bun!!! The meat was fried and dried out, and tasted no better than steak-ums. Service was terrible as well. We sat at the bar and the bartender seemed to be over whelmed by the 7 customers sitting at the bar. We would ask him for things and then he just wouldn't get them. We would have to ask someone else. Popped in here for an early lunch just after the Edmonds Spring Fest. Wasn't busy at all. However, we ended up standing at the counter for over 5 minutes despite wait staff walking around. The bartender eventually came over, answered a phone call and told us he wasn't the hostess. We got seated and our waitress seemed less than thrilled to be there. Food was okay, nothing fancy, just your basic breakfast. Gratuity was included, 20%, which I usually don't mind, but didn't think it was warranted here. First time here and met a friend. Sunday at 1pm, and the place was about 1/3 to 1/2 full. We sat at the bar that had 3 other people at it. Sat there for 10 minutes as the bartender walked by multiple times eating to see if we could get water and menus. I finally asked the door person if we could at least get water. She told the bartender and then he helped us. Why 1 star? Sure, poor service doesn't help, but they charged an extra 20% on an already overpriced meal. To be clear, we paid $61.01 for water and 2 simple breakfasts consisting of 1 strip of bacon, 1 sausage link, scrambled eggs and a couple small potatoes (the potatoes were tasty). It also was supposed to inline toast, what we both got was dry cold wheat bread. Not warm, and not toasted. $23 for each plate, and then another $9.20 because we sat down and ate our food. Or how they phrase it "dine in service charge". I almost always tip 25-30% on places I frequent. To be charged an autonomic 20% for poor service and mediocre food is outrageous. I think this is my first time reviewing a place. I went there today with my neighbor and I was so disappointed. I ordered a lemon drop with a sugared rim. As soon as I took a sip I realized that the glass was rimmed with salt and not sugar. A huge mouthful of salt is not a great way to start a meal. Instead of making me a new drink, he poured mine into a mixer, no doubt getting salt in my drink and poured it into another glass. I ordered eggs and toast. I was very specific that I wanted my eggs cooked over hard, I even said almost burnt and asked for no meat on my plate. My meal came and half the eggs were runny and the other half were sitting in the sausage juice that had came on my plate. The saddest part is the service attendants didn't seem to even care that everything I had ordered was totally messed up or wrong. I hope this place can turn it around. The ambience is nice, but it was honestly the worst service I have ever had. It would have gone a long way if they had at least acted like they cared. read more

After arguing with the wait staff for our reservation on the patio that they were not going to agree to seat us at- even though we had a confirmation AND called to confirm a few hours before our reservation, ended up getting the manager involved and finally got seated outside, it was fine. Food was good, service was ok but again they totally rushed us for our table which also stated on the reservation we had until 8pm. Been 2 times so far... Service - very slow but they're new, one waiter said they're short staffed and with the grand opening business, I'm giving them a pass on this for now. I don't mind the 22% service charge everyone is talking about but I hope that service gets better and worthy of that once they're settled in. Location - love the location/ambience. I want to like the food because I enjoy the location. I hope the offerings get better and/or we prob need to try some things off the regular menu since the happy hour menu is mostly just alright. Food - I'll say that we've only gone for happy hour so far. The star happy hour item that we'll be back for is the French dip sliders. So good! Wish it came with a few fries but whatever. The burger is decent (We enjoy charcoals more). The chicken sandwich was a lil dry. I ordered the wedge one time which was good but I wish it had onions and I think it was $20, which felt a lil high. The fried olives were...interesting. A lil dry, I asked for an aioli to dip them in. That helped but we still didn't finish them and won't order again. The pretzels ...we strongly disliked. They have poppyseeds and sesame seeds, no salt... and the 3 of us ate about 4 or 5 of the bits total. I get trying to be unique but none of us were fans and wish they were just more regular pretzels. Snack mix is okay. Fries are good. Value - okay... Edmonds is quite the foodie town these days and for the prices of the food, the offerings, and their auto service charge... I'm a lil nervous for them with business when the new business rush wears off. Prices feel a lil high for the quality of the offerings right now from what we've had. First and foremost, we normally have an enjoyable time here. Unfortunately, that was not the case this past Saturday (9/7). The waitress was not very pleasant, the food was not quite as good as it normally is, and the espresso martinis were TERRIBLE. The worst. It looked like someone took cold brew and mixed it with alcohol and topped it with pepper flakes (still don't know what the hell it was). We were taken aback by the look of the drink, so we paused, took a sip, decided the drinks were not good, and then let the waitress know. She didn't offer to remove it from our bill, which most places would normally do. I didn't feel like making an already tense situation worse so I paid the bill as is and left. I want to come back because the food and service is normally great, but maybe we'll take a break for a while and see later if things improve. read more

We were seated right away but waited a good 10 minutes before having water poured and asking if we would like to order anything. I was looking for dinner after work and it was later. I went to Victor Tavern, having been there twice before. I ate at the bar, and the bartender waited on me. He was helpful, and friendly, and it was an okay vibe in the place, though they were only a small number of customers. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. The bartender asked if fries were okay, and I asked if I could sub a salad. He said yes, with a small upcharge, to which I agreed. I ordered a standard size beer on tap. The food came in reasonable time. The salad was fresh and nicely done. The sandwich followed, and was also very nice - thick chicken patty on a good bun, and well cooked and seasoned. It was a good meal. Then the bill came, and included a 20% surcharge, to which "no additional tip" was required. So the total for a chicken sandwich, small salad, and beer was $44. This is beyond my normal means. I hope they enjoyed my one time purchase, because that is what it will be. Final analysis: good food but overpriced. Overpriced on a retirement salary won't be happening. read more

I'd actually give it 2.5 stars, I'll hit the high points. Really liked the place and ambiance. Kind of an upscale sports bar feel. Can get loud when full. Not a lot of booths which appear to be MUCH more comfortable than the hard back benches/seating. Our friends had to talk to 3 different people before they would move them to a booth. Food: the husband liked his chicken sandwich which was reasonably priced off the happy hour menu. I had a Caesar salad with prawns. Fishy tasting prawns that I didn't finish and croutons out of a bag. $33! Yikes! We' may give it another try, but that is pretty pricey for a very mediocre dish. We waited about 15 minutes at our table after being seated by the hostess for a server to arrive and greet us and they weren't that busy. We ordered the Victory Burger and fish & chips plus 2 beers. My fries for my burger were cold right after arriving at the table and the sauce for the burger was spicy. I firmly believe that if food items on a menu are going to be spicy, it needs to be mentioned and not just "secret sauce". The burger patty itself wasn't even hot, more like tepid. I ate it anyhow but I did mention to the server about the cold fries and spicy sauce. I also noticed that the mandatory 20% service fee has tax on it, which it shouldn't. The fries with the fish & chips were just barely warmer than mine and had they were lighter in color than mine so mine were probably a previous batch. Food is absolutely delicious, highly recommend the French dip sliders for happy hour. I am from Edmonds but have lived in other states until 3 weeks ago. When you visit a TAVERN, you don't expect to be a daycare provider. The establishment does nothing about the screaming uncontrollable children that can be heard over the live music. It's shocking and disgusting that parents take the kids, get hammered and let them run amuck for US to care for. The parents that bring these children have a sense of entitlement that their spawn are OUR problem not theirs. So, if you want to take care of someone else's children this is the place for you. Never should a tavern involve children. The establishment needs to either choose to change their name to a family environment and lose the tavern or act accordingly like a tavern. You're going to lose money with little screaming kids unless you want to become Chuck E. Cheese. Pick one! Your chefs are too good for such nonsense. Let me start by saying Megan our server was excellent! The prices on the website are about $4 - $6 less than at the restaurant. No big deal, but be aware. We we're told of the 20% addition, but it was confusing. Not sure if it went to the employees or not? Corned Beef Hash had minimal corned beef. What there was, was thin slices. The bearnaise sauce was good, but due to the lack of beef, the dish needed salt. The Phoenix (chicken sandwich) was dry, but the fries were good. Didn't find them too salty. Our friend said the burger was "good." There are a lot of far better restaurants in Edmonds for brunch. May give them another shot after they "settle in" but it will be a while.
