We come here every summer for the Fourth of July weekend, and we always enjoy our stay. It's a beautiful, older community with a welcoming atmosphere. The only downside is that the pool doesn't seem to be cleaned thoroughly. There was noticeable algae and scum buildup on the pool tiles, which made it feel less inviting. Friendly lobby staff, love that the entire place is gated and secure, it's convenient that you can safely cross at the light to go to the beach, and I enjoy that the overall vibe is relaxed and beachy. Each condo is individually owned, so pick one that has the set-up and view that you want (I like the ones that have an ocean and pool view!). The place is run down, but it's extremely close to the beach and it's nice to have access to umbrellas and chairs for only $40.00 you get them for the entire day. Also, golf cart on this beach is a no go! The kitchen is kinda gross with a microwave that's about to fall down, and it kind of smells a little musty, and unfortunately there was cockroaches, so we hung out all day at the beach, not a whole lot of time was spent in the common areas of this home. One star is too many. I stayed here 4 years ago and gave it 3 stars. I mentioned the place needed some renovations but none have been done. What I understand about this place is it is mostly condos. So it is hit or miss. Some condo owners have taken very good care of their place and others have not so this place is hit or miss. We checked in after 4 on a Sunday. Dropped off our things, turned on the AC and left. We returned a few hours later. The place wasn't cool and had an odd smell. Then I started noticing things. Sheer curtains on balcony only with a bunch of very dead plants outside. The bathroom needs a huge makeover. Rusty yucky drain above with bolts missing from some kind of plate. Bedroom bed had no bed skirt to hide the nasty bottom box mattress. I decided to look at the sheets and there were stains not to mention the weird stuffed giant horse in the corner. I didn't take a pic but the water sprinkler for fire above had a huge hole next to it. The bathroom walls were horrible, dirty and sagging. I was very disappointed. We packed up and were checked out at 7:21. We paid for two nights. Over $200 a night. The lobby refunded a $30 fee and we booked at a Marriott which was half the price. My husband disputed the cost and asked for a full refund. The owner said no and their manager said the beds were slept in (we had proof that we checked on at 4:30 and checked out at 7:21-so a lie). When I showed them that proof they refunded half of this but I am not satisfied. I grew up on the island and the Victorian used to be a glorious place. I'm warning people to want to book here to stay away. I wish there was a way to know which condo you booked because some are unkept and ridiculously gross. I stayed at an air bnb at the Victorian. The front desk staff was very friendly and clearly explained the rules of the property. The property is a bit dated, but I knew I wasn't staying at a 5 star resort so it met expectations. The pools were very nice. There was one pool with a waterfall and was 3-5 feet deep. The other pool had a mushroom at the 6 inch deep end and had a slope down to the 5 foot end. Both were nice and well kept. I had some issues with my air bnb when I was there, but that was with the condo owner, not the Victorian complex. I do believe that the $25 parking and fatalities fee was a bit high. It would have been better for the facility to have a daily rate for ahirter term visitors and a flat rate for long term visitors. read more

Decent priced apartments. I've heard you have to be careful about who your host is. Yajaira is who we went through on VRBO and their condo is nice, clean, and has complimentary things to use. We've cooked in the kitchen everyday, just haven't used the dishwasher, everything else has worked fine. There's seagulls and pelicans flying over all day, it's a beautiful spot. The only downside for us was the lack of water pressure in the shower, and it takes a bit to warm up but it does get hot. I'd rather have low pressure rather than no hot water. There should be black out curtains in the front bedroom and the patio doors! #2 - There is nothing that says Beach Haven anywhere, so there was time wasted on that. It is really the Victorian right across from Wal Mart. #3 - No pepper. They gave us salt but no pepper! Big disappointment. #4 - Unit 1306 was okay. Clean and had dishes, old clean dish rags (only 2) that have seen better days but worked okay. #5 - The bunk beds were okay except it had a sign on it that said children under 8! I didn't see anything on line about that but it did hold my 130 lbs just fine. It was precarious getting up and down. I would only put someone who doesn't have to get up in the middle of the night on the top bunk. We made it work. #6 - The TV's (not that we used them) were super small. My CPU screen was bigger that the one in the front bedroom. The picture in the living room needs to be given away. Spent a weekend here, really surprised how pleasant it was of an experience. We utilized Airbnb for the rental, but the actual facility front desk was hugely helpful w checkin and other access to amenities. Very clean, lots of areas to access the buildings such as stairwells and elevator. Two separate pools to use. And a great beach view just across the street. Just down the block from Walmart if you need anything and off the main strip for any and all dining needs and fun adventures. Only knocked a star off because there isn't washer and dryer in the units but is one on the grounds, also there's an ice machine but non functional so you must go to the front office to buy ice for $3, water pressure is also low in the showers. read more

Okay, I don't usually leave reviews like this but I noticed there were lots of bad reviews and I think this place deserves more credit. Five stars! We booked one of these condos through Airbnb from the actual owner. It was nice! The condo had been remodeled, furnished, and decorated super cute. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. She and a bunch of other condo owners list their condos on a website called Stay On Seawall. So you can look them up online. When you get to The Victorian, you check in at their front lobby just like checking in at a hotel. The ladies at front desk are super helpful and have great attitudes. We felt so welcome. Check-in was a br The location is amazing! You're right on Seawall Blvd in the middle of everything. You can walk to beach. Literally, everything Galveston has to offer is just a few minutes away by car and there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Yes, you can tell the property was neglected years ago and needs some work, but the new management is definitely fixing it up. I was told they've recently done major projects like replacing roofing and fencing. Soon they'll start doing cosmetic stuff too. So give The Victorian a chance! Each condo is individually owned, but they are all managed by a property management group. The property is pretty well-maintained, but poorly designed. They have an "event center" on the property, which they rent out to anyone. The problem is that it is connected to the condos, and it is not soundproofed at all. Our condo was less than 10 feet from the exterior wall, and there was a party there during our last day, complete with a sound system that rattled the walls. This started earlier in the day, and continued until 11:30 that night. When contacting the front desk, we were told there was nothing they could do. When I called the property manager, she also said there was nothing they could do. We contacted the owners of our condo, and they made attempts to address the situation, but were also unsuccessful. I recommended that, if they were going to continue allowing those types of loud events, they should invest in some serious soundproofing. There was also a group that took their "boombox" (it was big enough that they transported it on a cart) down to the pool, and proceeded to blast it loud enough for all to hear. They also had no problem yelling inappropriate language at each other, even with kids around. I believe the property security ended up telling them to leave the area. If you don't mind noise, this is a decent place. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing place, this isn't it. We might be willing to go back and try again, but we'd definitely not stay in the same condo we were in. read more

They gave us 1 key for 6 people so we took turns going places, the burners on the stove quit working half was through the meal, there weren't very many sockets to plug things in 2 were covered with a plate, the windows were dirty, the dresser draws were hard to open and there were holes in the bottom of them so stuff fell through, there was no remote for the main TV and the TVs in the bed rooms were not programed to watch Tv just looked like a computer desktop, the toilet handle was broke and just hanging there you had to push it in to make it work, the pools had sliming rings around them and my granddaughter wrote here name in it, the bottom of the dish washer and small refrigerator were rusted out, and there were cracks in the floors. Awful experience. I found somebody else's lingerie, jewelry and condoms in the condo. The condo was nasty and not cleaned. The appliances were broken and the staff was NOT nice. There are ten different codes to get into the parking lot, pool, pedestrian gate, condo, etc. It was hard to keep up with all the codes. And you had to have an employee let you into a dark room to get ice. That was one of about 100 rules for this place. It was not the friendly, clean beach vacation we were hoping for. Cheap Air BnB booked option had thin walls , floors, as we heard the upstairs neighbor yelling at their heavy footed stomping kids, loud party music Fri and Sat. the overall quality is like a Red Roof in motel conversion rather than a real condo complex with better insulation and noise protection. The unit we stayed was clean, water pressure was a bit weak due to the water saver head was leaking. The back gate by Walmart side was left wide open from 9am morning until 6pm for worker access was a safety issue as anyone could enter. The pool was a hit for kids as one was warmer and one was not but had a waterfall mushroom feature. I would not stay again as there are much better options, mostly due to the neighbor noise a huge negative. read more

We booked this rental online through Booking.com. I am always wary of renting condos online, but the reviews were stellar. Our condo was #3305, and it was just as it was pictured online, so no surprises there. However, things online always look bigger. I would not rent a one bedroom again for 5 females, as it only had 1 bathroom, and it was tiny! Other than that, it was very clean and quaint inside. The bunkbeds were great for the two teenage girls, and my adult daughters (21 and 19) slept comfortably on the fold out couch. The stove was a learning curve, but it was adequate. There's not much room in the kitchen, and I equate it with a small apartment in downtown NYC to compare how small. However, all the things we needed were neatly stored and labeled for easy finding. I was pleasantly surprised to find a small cooler in the closet, which proved essential for the weekend. There were board games and everything you could think of that we would need or want to make a beach weekend amazing! The decor was super cute, and there was a swing chair in the living room that was a hit with the teenagers! My oldest enjoyed her coffee each morning on the high back chairs on the balcony, and you could see the beach perfectly from our balcony. Great hosts all the way around. The things that the owner of the condo cannot control were the only issues that we struggled with like the elevator breaking down on day 1 (we were on the third floor), the parties at the hot tub with the 80's rock band fans, the outdated outside of the buildings, the other guests who obviously did not read the rules about taking up two parking spots, the laundry room that is NOT on the first floor of each building as was told at check in, nor the rude person at the front desk (Sarah, I believe) that was helping the main woman (who was extremely polite) check in guests. I get that it was chaotic when we arrived, but her tone and demeanor was unprofessional and just rude. The other lady (didn't get her name) was so sweet and accommodating, so that made up for the employee who didn't know how to check in people.... The access to the beach was a priority for us, and that did not disappoint. Oh and it's helpful to know that the washers and dryers in the laundry room only take cards, but it's great that they do! The washers take about 35 minutes and the dryers are about 45 minutes. I wish that were posted, so I wasn't running up and down the stairs and two buildings away to find out the hard way. My sister's family and my family stayed at the Victorian from July 25- 31, 2022. We rented 2 Two rooms for a family vacation. I will start with The last night we were there; my mom took my 11-year-old son and my sisters, 10-year-old and a 6-years -old, swimming. When they got done, they got in the elevator to go up to the third floor but got stuck in the elevator for over 30 minutes!! The Emergency button did not work; my mom's cell phone had no service in the elevator. My mom and son finally started banging on the door and yelling as allowed as they could to get someone's attention. Once the Galveston police arrived, they could not get them out because the front desk did not keep the elevator key. So they had to wait another 10 minutes for the fire department to come open the door. My mom was extremely weak from blacking out due to the extreme heat, and all the kids were drenched in sweat and terrified. The front desk told me they could only give me my $30 parking fee back, but the rest was up to the homeowners. The front desk staff were rude and could not be less knowledgeable. When we checked in, and I was paying the $30 parking fee, they told me I could not pay with my debit card and that they only took credit cards and cash, not debit cards. I ended up settling with my debit card. When we asked about the washer because they were not working, they just laughed at us and said, " Yeah, we were watching you on the put-on security cameras, but we cannot help you." Then we were walking to the beach, and a Security guard/ front desk worker was passing us in his golf cart, and he yelled at us that we needed to wear our bracelets. I told him we were going to the ocean, not the swimming pool. He just drove off and yelled something else at us. At night when he would drive around in his car, he would blast his music as loud as it would go while looking at his phone, not paying attention to the kids he almost hit. They also had some benefits for the lighthouse. The lighthouse had big trucks and trailers that took up most of the parking and giant tents that took up all the pool area. They played loud music from 9 A.M until about 10 pm or later every night. Cockroaches were running all over the place; the swimming pool was full of hair, the beds were broken, the toilet ran all the time, and the floor was covered in sand. We got two towels and two wash rags, and one roll of toilet paper for six days. read more

I have stayed at the Victorian many times and absolutely love it. The staff is nice, the property is maintained and secure. The beach is so close to the property and there is places to eat and get groceries within short walking distance. The heated pool works great and so does the hot tubs. They even have a fitness center and tennis courts. I highly recommend staying here! read more

I just had the best stay here earlier this month w/my boyfriend!! The condo was decorated super cute and everything seemed to be very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking while we were there. We simply made a Walmart run (it was right across the street) our first night to get food & drinks, & then we were good to go since the condo had utensils, dishes, drink ware, cooking supplies, etc. The bathroom was a little small, but we are young so we didn't have much of a complaint about it. There is a tv in the living room & the bedroom, both of which are "smart tv's" so we were able to watch Netflix & Hulu. The facility has 2 pools- one heated, the other not. It is also right across the road from the ocean so it was easy to be at the beach in just a few minutes of a walk if we wanted! The 61st St. Fishing Pier is also very close by, so we visited it a couple of times too. Myrna was super easy to work with and always got back to us in a timely manner if we had a question. This place is absolutely disgusting. They had dead rodents on the stairwell leading up to the rooms, rusted and broken security cameras in the parking lot area. Someone tried to take the tires on my car. Good thing we were able to notice the lugs were loose before something tragic happened on the road. Also a tall ball headed employee proceeded to come to our room to tell us without provocation that we were to only have 6 people max in the room when there was only six people in there total from the jump! On the outside, this "hotel" is quite beautiful, with nice architecture and an overall nice atmosphere. It is in a great location, right on the beach. BUT the outside looks are very deceiving. My family and I came to stay here after winning a free 2-night stay at a "luxury, well-known resort". And all I can say is, resort should most definitely NOT be in the description. The floors are cracked and old and seem to need a cleaning/be completely redone. The elevator is ancient, and there are these metal gates in front of every door that make the "resort" look more like a done-up prison. Their 6-person rooms are absolutely tiny. I would say they're about 2 times the size of a cruise ship room. There's only one bathroom, one bedroom, and then 2 bunk beds and a sofa couch that are all very small. It is pretty tight for space, and the decorations leave much to be desired; all the furniture looks very, very old and make me question the cleanliness. I don't think the hotel is in disrepair or anything (which is why this is 2 instead of 1 star), but renovations are most definitely needed. Tl;dr: Do not judge a "resort" by it's cover. read more

Very different than we expected, and more expensive after paying the cleaning fees and 25$ parking fee than a decent hotel that would have provided breakfast, free access to amenities, and free parking. The elevators smelled like public restrooms, and the amenities are chained after 10pm. The workout room is cooled with a rotating fan and does not have many machines, but there are two pools. A big pro to these cons were when we locked our keys in the room there was someone to help us when we called no more than 10 minutes later, which was a great relief. BEWARE!!!... we rented online . We were sent photos of a condo that we thought we were kidding. When we got there it was a joke! First of all we thought we were getting a two-bedroom which we paid for but it was only a one bedroom. It was a complete dump! The countertop was busted the carpet was green like from 1970s filthy filthy ! They said we had a ocean view we had a huge parking lot view there was a dumpster right beside the building we could smell the stench from it and every time we walked up to our apartment we saw this huge dumpster what a pathetic place I never never want to go here again by the way they owe us for saying we had a two-bedroom we paid for a two-bedroom they owe us money ! read more

Looking on internet for places to stay in Galveston. Victorian Condos listed a two day stay would cost $98. Ran my credit card for this amount after signing up, and my total charges came back for two days at $293, with a bunch of extra charges in small print. Cleaning fee $135!!! Upon arrival, the condo charges another additional $35 "Amenities Fee", and if you do not agree to pay, they won't let you in. So my two day stay came to $328, when I thought it would be closer to $98 + taxes? The toilet didn't work properly for stay, and we had feces floating in commode the whole time. Condo was a dump & only about 400 sq. feet of space. On last day cleaning ladies came early and I had to leave prior to 11AM checkout. This place is a rip off. read more

The pictures for these condos are not accurate the room is very outdated and stains everywhere on the floor and the kitchen was just awful. The fridge was pulled out and water was everywhere on the floor. The beds were horribly uncomfortable. The bathtub was disgusting and the walls were so thin you could hear everything going on in the rooms next to you and above you. That's not even the worst part! I booked this hotel thinking I was getting a deal at 139$ a night (with no view!) and the confirmation stated we would be paying at the hotel. Nope not the case BEWARE!!!! there is a 130$ cleaning fee and city fee and property tax! So I could have upgraded our room at moody gardens getting a awesome view for what I paid at the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed!!! I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!!! I've had a horrible and extremely racist experience with condo staff, Beverly in Closing Time guest services to be exact. Booked through priceline and paid... we get to the property and a number is posted for after hours. I call the number (409-526-5290) and BEVERLY says that the hotel is closed, even though the front desk is open, and says "I'm not getting out of my bed for a n!&&@". She then hung up in my face.
