Everything was well up until the last day where check in was early in the morning (before 10 am) we were rushing out of the motel and accidentally left a bag hanging on the side of the bed. We figured it's fine we will turn around and go get it, surely housekeeping turned it in to the front desk and all will be okay. Wrong. We get there and the room is already cleaned and bag no where in sight. The ignorant front desk girl didn't care at all to help search or ask the housekeeper for said bag. Ugh! This hotel hopes you are happy that you found a place to stay in telluride, that you were desperate and willing to stay anywhere. Like finding a shady Motel 6 outside of Vegas when everything else was sold out. The shower water switched to scalding without warning 3x while I was showering. The sink is 1970s Formica. The bathroom sink was cracked. The shower rack was supposed to hold 3 dispensers. One was shampoo, one was unmarked and the last one was missing. The carpet was filthy. The fridge was a joke. The walls were bare without a single picture. The mattresses were ancient. A hand soap dispenser was mounted on the wall and looked like the last soap dispenser you saw in an old gas station. No soap dish or other items provided except 5 make up remover packets. Dirty bathroom door. This place clearly prides itself on ripping people off. read more

Our room was infested with bugs - ants crawling up the wall and over the windowsill, spiders, and, after the lights were turned off, tiny white flying bugs - and there was disgusting brown colored matter caked on the bathroom floor and toilet seat (see video under link below) when we arrived around 10 pm our first night. Management is not available after 9 pm. After a sleepless night, we asked for a room change or refund. Instead, the hotel surreptitiously entered our room while we were away, ignoring the "Do Not Disturb" sign hung on the doorknob, and sprayed the room with a toxic smelling chemical that seemed to have killed and chased away the bugs (see photos of some of the dead bugs) and made the bird camped outside our window so sick it kept flopping into our window that evening. Even though the hotel manager admitted the smell was toxic and was advised my husband was familiar with the smell of insecticide from work, the manager insisted the hotel had only cleaned our room and the smell was from their cleaning supplies. When I asked why the bodies of dead bugs would have been left by someone cleaning our room, the manager shrugged and said, "poor cleaning." When asked why the brown matter would have been left on the bathroom floor, he made a show of being unable to remove it and claimed it was just part of the floor. I then made a video of removing at least two of these disgusting items from the floor. (Video at https://maps.app.goo.gl/boBG919NibaK2N8V8) The manager said these issues were insufficient to warrant a refund or move to another room, then claimed no rooms were available despite advertising the opposite throughout our stay. Yet, this didn't stop him from twice trying to intimidate us into leaving on our own. On our last day, a bucket of cleaning supplies and materials was left outside our room. None of these items smelled like what the hotel sprayed in our room. If you're curious what a $400 "Classic" room might look like, check out the attached images. The shower fits one average adult. My 6'2" 220 lb husband couldn't turn around in it. Despite being in the basement and outside temperatures being 70 F throughout our stay, the room became stifling hot and humid during the day because it is across from the laundry. There appeared to be no way to cool the room. The thermostat was inoperable. This seemed to be an issue for all basement rooms as most had their windows open when we arrived and the door to the basement was left open throughout the day. We were unable to open the window in our room because it led to ants coming into the room. read more

Location of this hotel is the best compared to other hotels. Minutes away from restaurants, shops the gondola & river trails. Upon arriving the woman at the front desk was kind & upgraded our rooms for free for our anniversary. Our room was located on the corner of the third floor with a small "balcony". Walking in the room was like walking into a freaking sauna. I don't know it would be necessary to have the thermostat set to 90. Luckily we got there early enough in the night to open all the windows to let some cool air in. Although, even if you turn the air down the room still got pretty hot at night. The room was nice but our room was right under the kitchen I am assuming, every morning around 6:30 you can hear conversation & movement. Glad we came during off season because you can hear everything. The free breakfast was alright, nothing crazy. Cereal, some fruit & bagels. Enjoyed the fire pit. All in all, I would book here again. If someone in your party has mobility issues don't stay in Telluride. Because parking is scarce everywhere, you must he able to walk up hills. The victorian Inn may meet ADA standards technically, but barely. You must park on the street to access the rooms that don't require stairs. And FYI....the stairs and wrap around porches are splintery, worn wood slats with 3/4 inch gaps between them. If you have trouble walking on uneven surfaces, stay away. The photos online are deceptive and show a fairytale version of the Inn. Reality is that the rooms are as basic as college dorms and poorly maintained (phone not working, exhaust fan broken, furniture beat up). No AC and if you open your window everyone walking by looks on their way to their own basic room. The rooms pictured online may exist but we didn't see them. read more

We enjoyed the hot tub as well as the beautiful fire pit which kept us quite warm. Joey and the staff were awesome. The linens on the beds were five star. My husband and I had reserved two nights for what was supposed to be the Telluride film fest this Labor Day weekend. The price was incredibly expensive but in line with what we paid last year at a different resort. The film fest was canceled this year but the reservation was non refundable. It was supposed to be non transferable on the dates too. I called just to ask and was able to switch the dates. The woman I spoke to was really accommodating about it and happy to work with us. When we arrived we had a small maintenance item in our room so the woman at the front, moved us immediately. We also had our breakfast pre ordered which was appreciated. Admittedly I thought that the cost of what we paid was not in line with the room and the amenities for a non festival weekend but that's the way 2020 goes. The best part hands down is the location. It is close to just about everything you would want to do in Telluride. We walked to three of our hiking trails right from the hotel. read more

Don't overthink the two stars. It is really two stars or less. They double charged us for our room. Promised that they would take care of it. Have been battling with them for months. Rooms were gross. Not clean. 200 degrees and no screens on the windows. Asked if we could get screens and they said we didn't book a room that was expensive enough. $1,200 for a terrible two night stay by any standards. Great location 1 block from biz district and gondola base, but uninspired rooms and service. While we knew Victorian had no A/C, the window fans available in dresser drawers had broken parts and the front venetian blinds could not be raised (broken strings) to allow full air flow. The microware on top of the mini frig had no place to plug in a grounded three prong plug and the supplied extension cord was a low rated two prong for lamps. The sink drain was broken with parts on the floor. We fixed the drain ourselves but stopper would not stay closed. We chose The Victorian as it was $100 less/night than others but next time will splurge on a better place! read more

As someone who stays in hotels a good 75-100 nights per year, I've seen the good, the bad, the ugly, and the pits of it all: the Victorian Inn. Telluride is a small town with limited lodging options; during peak season you may end up with the last remaining alternative as I did if you book last minute, and the Victorian Inn is the last alternative for very good reason. I could go on for hours here, but I'll do my best to keep it short. So where to start ...? Let's start with the rooms: bugs, a rank stench, and no temperature control. At 85-90 degF on the thermometer, it's no wonder pungent orders and bugs thrive here. If you finally make it to sleep after a good 4-5 melatonins like I did, expect to wake up in a pool of sweat accompanied by an uncomfortable itch. Not sure if it's from the sweat or the bugs, but I'll presume both. Oh well, I've had bad experiences before; it happens from time to time when you travel. But when I got myself up from my sweat soaked bed, dehydrated beyond belief, what was about to happen is an all time new low. I had to run to my car to grab my phone charger. Here I am at 7:00 in the morning, tired and dehydrated, I make a terrible mistake: I leave my keys and room card before I shut the door behind me! I was expecting to walk 20ft to the car, get my charger, and walk back in, so all I have is a tee shirt and sweats... not good if you're going to be stranded in 5 degF temps!! And here's where it gets WILD! I immediately realize my mistake, so I walk around to the front entrance to get a new key. Seems like a common thing, won't be a big deal. When I get there the door is locked, closed until 7:30. I knock on the door and look inside. There's a concierge in the mirror putting on her makeup, not to be bothered. I knock a few times, she looks over and returns to putting on her makeup. This cycle repeats a few times before I REALLY start knocking. She finally comes to the door, "We are closed until 7:30, you need to call our main number and stop knocking". I explain my situation and she slams the door on me. I call the main number twice from the call phone outside, no answer. By this time I've been outside for a good 10 minutes before I'm starting to shake from the temperatures outside. I continue banging on the door, she sits there. Nothing. Another 10 minutes pass before a maintenance worker shows up for work for the day and finally gets me back into my room. I'm shaking, freezing cold, but at least I'm back to my room. Two minutes elapse and I get a knock on my door. I look outside, two police officers! The concierge knew my room, she knew my name, she called the cops on me, but never did she offer to help me get back inside! Pretty sad from someone who "works" in hospitality! Long story short, the police were very professional, they understood the safety issues at hand, and offered an apology for the situation. Luckily for the owners of the Victorian Inn, I'm somewhat reasonable; I'll write a bad review, recommend that others avoid this place, and move on with my life. Had this happened to a more hostile patron, such safety issues could have lead to very bad issues for the business. Anyways, Carolina ("concierge"), remind yourself before you show up to work that you work in the service business. As the role suggests, your primary objective is to provide SERVICE to your customers. You failed big time today, and I hope you'll show better professionalism towards others in the future. As for myself, thanks to the professional members of the BLUE here in Telluride, I will not be spending an afternoon in jail. Rather, I'll go check myself into the hospital to ensure that I do not have Lyme Disease from the bugs in the room. The location of this hotel is AWESOME, and that's really where the good things end. To be honest I would have given it 1 star if the location wasn't so great. I stayed here with a friend for one night during the peak of the fall season, so it was packed in town and this hotel had great prices. When we arrived, we had such a strange experience with the woman working the reception desk. She wasn't friendly, made it seem like we were inconveniencing her for checking in, and gave us very little information that you would normally expect during the check-in process. The staff also did not wear masks which was surprising during the height of COVID. For some reason, she chose to put two single females into ground floor rooms, which seems like a no brainer as something you don't do. I tried to switch our rooms but she didn't even check the booking list and said no exceptions could be made. My friend and I stayed in separate rooms, and mine was awful. It didn't have accessible outlets to charge my phone. It was right on the corner of the street on the ground floor next to the staircase. Every time someone climbed the stairs you could hear every step and the clear conversations of the people outside. Since I was on the corner of the street, my room also got the headlights of passing cars all night. It wasn't a comfortable room at all. I went to the front desk again to ask to be moved and the night receptionist told me I would have to wait to talk to a manager the next morning which was obviously unhelpful. My friends room was actually much nicer than mine, she had nicer fixtures and easily accessible outlets. It was a pretty comfortable room and much more soundproof than mine was. Overall, I will not be returning to this hotel due to the horrible service, even if I ended up in a better room. read more

Stayed at The Victorian Inn for one night. Great location and right downtown. Rooms were decent and what is expected of a hotel room. Failure of the hotel itself is the grouchy, unpleasant front desk person. Every encounter we had with them and watched them have with others was a sad representation of customer service and even just kindness. I do believe whatever they are angry about they take out on others around them. Unprofessional, rude and makes the hotel a one star in my book. We booked a room 5 days before our ski trip to Telluride knowing that the CoVID-19 crisis was just emerging but we still wanted to support the local economy. 2 days later the ski resorts were closed and on Sat. nearly all the restaurants and bars were closed. The nail in the coffin was that our flight was cancelled due to CoVid. I called and canceled our reservation but was denied a refund. The receptionist working was very apologetic but said the only person that could offer a refund was the GM (Karine) but "they refuse to take phone calls." BTW...the VRBO was had booked for the remainder of the week gave a FULL REFUND b/c of the extraordinary circumstances but The Victorian Inn is "sticking by their policy". Contacted these people via email twice And left a voicemail Concerning his passing and requested a refund on our deposit. I got no response and no answer. Once we were not there for the reserved time Brandon from the office called to enquire as to whether we were going to be there the next day. I informed him of my 2 previous emails and voicemailAnd that they did not respond and requested a refund on our our deposit again. He was of no help and declined to refund the $500. If you screw your customers Don't be surprised when you get a great deal of negative social media exposure. I will be sure to let everyone I know, who comes to Telluride, how TERRIBLE you are ! We have booked this hotel not realizing it didn't have an AC in the rooms. I have read the reviews and some mentioned this however I didn't think this applied to all the rooms. I have messaged the hotel and when I haven't heard back we tried to cancel the reservation - exactly 2 hours after making it. The hotel would not honor our health concerns about needing AC nor the fact that it's only been 2 hours since we made it, nor the fact it was made 2 months in advance for July 23. They had gone ahead and charged us 538.00. Beware of this property. It is unfortunate way to do business. read more

This trip was a sporadic stop into telluride. Such a nice get away. We really enjoyed the price point for our room and the complimentary breakfast which was arranged so nicely. The room was clean and simple for the price for sure. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was the heater I. The room didn't seem to turn off we were beyond toasty all night, almost to the point of being uncomfortable. The lady we checked in with was French Canadian and she was absolutely wonderful and so helpful. Because her wonderful kind attitude I would stay there again. The absolute worst Customer Service of any Hotel I have ever experienced! I reserved 3- rooms on Booking.com for one night. When I was forced to cancel my trip to Colorado because of COVID-19, Booking.com notified me that the room rate I chose was non-refundable. I did not choose a discounted rate, the rooms were expensive, I was not required to acknowledge, nor was it explicitly, or even obviously disclosed when I clicked reserve the room - that this reservation might be non-refundable. I am not certain if the omission of an obvious disclosure was the fault of The Victorian Inn or of Booking.com - However, in my effort to seek a resolution, the women I spoke to was callous and had no regard for the unenviable position in which I am dealing. She had little time for me and spoke down to me as if trying to embarrass and belittle me for failing to read the reservation fine print. She refused to even to make a courtesy adjustment. I have traveled all over the United States and Europe for that matter and have never made a reservation that was not refundable. Looking now at the Hotel's 2.5 star review - I see I made a very poor choice. read more

Deplorable customer service. My review is based on a poor experience with them regarding a recent reservation. Like many others I now have serious concerns over coronavirus and have taken steps to ensure the safety of myself and my family. I requested to move my stay back until this threat has been contained, and had asked that that first night deposit (which I fully understood to be non-refundable) be applied to this future stay. Given the circumstances I felt this was a very reasonable request. It was flatly denied by the front desk and the general manager. They refused any compromise or to allow me a future credit. I will have to forfeit my deposit entirely. This callous and inconsiderate response in the face of the current health crisis indicates to me an establishment that does not place a high value on customer service and I imagine carries over into all aspects of their operation. Our room was shabby and smelled of mildew. Very no frills, which normally would be okay, but this stay did not include no frills pricing. What put us over the edge into a negative experience was their breakfast policy, which is to provide individually wrapped meals in the morning to mitigate COVID, vice a buffet. This would be totally fine, had it been explained to us at check in. When we went to get breakfast in the morning we were turned away because we hadn't ordered it the night before. Breakfast was included in the rate; no compensation. They asked if we were comfortable with a single queen instead of two to help them out, and we were, but again you would expect some sort of compensation for a downgrade in room. Overall disappointing. Two stars vice one because the location was wonderful and they were helpful with parking. We won't be staying here again. read more

The location here is the main selling point. The staff seemed to disappear from the front desk quite often and don't seem verily friendly. They have a continental breakfast, which has a pancake maker, sausage, oatmeal, cereal and really good cinnamon rolls. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was not super comfy, not horrible but not an ohh that's a comfy bed. If you are looking to stay downtown and not wanting to spend a ton of money I recommend this place. If you go into your stay with appropriate expectations, you won't be disappointed with the Victorian Inn. Also, if you are familiar with Telluride or similar mountain towns (as many reviewers of the Victorian apparently were not), then you know that this is a fairly decent value. Telluride is an expensive town to visit, especially during ski season, so the price I paid ($158/night) was a steal compared to other lodging in town (on a holiday weekend nonetheless). The breakfast is nothing fancy, but it is exactly as advertised by the Victorian Inn on their website. An included breakfast is an excellent value-add in Telluride, and saves you $20-30/couple each morning given how expensive breakfast is in town. Expectation met here, and did the trick for loading up before full ski days. The rooms, nothing fancy but that is not expected if you review pictures ahead of time. And for the price, you cannot expect luxury. But we found our room clean and fully operational, with a clean and very comfortable bed. Yes, it is noisy with thin walls, so if you expect that you come prepared with ear plugs like we did, and sleep well. There's also a hot tub, which is a great addition. No, the staff is not overly friendly, but if you have visited even one ski town in CO you will know this is the norm and you don't need to take it personally. They were friendly enough for the limited interactions we had, so no complaints there either. Last - this place cannot be better situated. 1 & 1/2 blocks from the gondola, and just as close to the majority of great restaurants in town. If you are a skirt or hiker, and don't have overly high expectations and are just looking for functionality and convenience, the Victorian is your place. If you are expecting a slopeside Ritz-like experience, you're barking up the wrong tree and setting yourself up for failure. Will stay again, can't beat the value and convenience!! read more

Quite expensive for what it is! We had to choose since we did not have many options. The worst part is there was a leak in the next room to ours and then the carpet in our room too got wet due to the leak; we complained and there was no proper response from the management. The lady at the desk just came in and put towels and went off. Imagine having a wet carpet in the winter! Not even an apology. Clearly, they are not interested in service. The breakfast is included in the price but it sucks too. Only good part is the location- quite close to Gondola. Right when you pull in, it looks like a very cute inn. The lady who checked us in was nice in the beginning. The rooms were clean and there was plenty towels and toiletries for everyone. However, the beds were so uncomfortable. I woke up with back pain. You can also hear literally everything. Everything is very creaky and loud. I walked around the inn to take some photos, and I stepped in dog poop. It was literally everywhere, no piece of grass was safe. When we went to get breakfast, the lady was always there asking us how our stay was. Which was fine the first 2 times, then she kept doing it and it made us feel awkward. She wouldn't let us enjoy our food. We were also charged extra for having two couples in a room with two queen beds in it? I have never had that happen before. Great location! Walking distance to the gondola, hiking and dining. If you play your cards right, you'll never have to move your car from their conveniently placed parking lot. Rooms were clean and well kept fully stocked with plenty of towels in versions sizes. They were accommodating with the circumstances of covid by giving us brown bag breakfast kits with raw eggs we could microwave in the lobby. The front desk agent was lovely to all Americans and helpful when giving recommendations for site seeing. Recommend for a well located, charming stay in beautiful telluride! read more

Not sure why the other reviewers are unimpressed with this place. We are exceptionally comfortable. It is not a B&B, there's no room service, and the only other thing I can see that differentiates this place from a quaint boutique hotel is that my door opens to a covered outside walkway rather than into a hallway. In a ski town I'd prefer that, to be honest. Speaking of the ski resort, it's two blocks away. My ratings are based on value and location, not decor. We love Telluride. We didn't come here in order to enjoy the Victorian art in our room, and we won't pay to stay upscale if we can pay less for something nice. My wi-fi devices work. It's quiet. Aspen quake outside the window. We're walking 5 minutes to supper. We walked to our hike today. The bathroom is clean and stocked with environmentally sensitive things like Seventh Generation TP. I suppose if I hated Telluride I would hate this place too. Most of the reviews sound more like reviews of Telluride than of the inn. read more

My first visit to Telluride! The Victorian Inn is centrally located and convenient. A 2 minute walk to restaurants and shops. And a 2 minute walk to the Telluride gondola. They have a nice breakfast each morning. The staff was nice and check-in was quick. The room was clean and nice, but a bit small. Summer time is a great time to visit to get an affordable room. I suspect my affordable, but small room would be astronomical in January. Parking is a bit limited. I parked on the street for the night and then moved to their parking the next day, but I was lucky that something opened up. read more

As the other reviewers stated, the Victorian Inn is not Victorian other than a few carefully selected chairs and mirrors in the lobby. I also agree with one reviewer that it's essentially a motel. Not a hotel, a MO-tel. It's located in a nice quiet part of Telluride, just a block away from the main street and a block and a half away from the Gondola. There's plenty of restaurants close by, as well as a market. But, remember, the town goes to sleep at 8pm. The "inn" was quiet and seemed clean, but it was not high end or upscale. There is a teeny tiny kitchenette in the room with dishes and silverware, small fridge, microwave, and hot plates, which were nice for preparing late night snacks when the town closed up shop. There was a guide for HBO, but they don't offer HBO. :/ The continental breakfast was basically overbaked cinnamon buns and yogurt, coffee, juice, and water, so don't get to excited. There's no laundry on-side, even though they advertised for it. There's no air conditioning if you're going in the summertime and you like your room cold-- it ain't gonna happen!! The fans in the rooms are ineffective and... you can't put the blinds down if the fan is running, so be prepared to have people stare at you when you sleep. read more

Not great value for price. Walls are paper thin, we could hear every conversation had by neighboring rooms, people walking by on street, when the room above ya took a shower it sounded so loud it woke us up in the night, oh and we heard the cleaning crew talking, I mean screaming to each other every morning in the hallway. Beds not great and pillows were horrendous. The saving grace was it's location only 1 1/2 blocks from Gondola and down town telluride. No A/C or fan in the room. Room was hot as balls....didn't sleep at all. Rooms were not at all what was displayed online. The bed was saggy and uncomfortable. I would have rather slept on the sidewalk. Definitely would not recommend. read more

We stayed in the Victoria Inn for the Blues and Brews Festival; clean room, comfortable bed, nice shower. We also like how we could walk to the main street, gondola, hike, and to the festival. Everything is close in proximity. Only gripe would be to have a heartier breakfast instead of a cinnamon roll and coffee. We went elsewhere all 3 mornings we were there for more subtsance. Also the rates increas for the festival so I thought it was expensive for what you get. At any rate, it was a pleasant stay and enjoyable. read more

Stayed recently there with friends. This hotel is very over priced for the outdated rooms. Hours of operation are limited and advertises breakfast which they do not serve nor is the office even open before 9. Rooms have limited amenities. Friend's room had wet floor they asked for another room and were treated poorly because it was late. read more
