I do not like leaving negative reviews ,but in this case I am. We ordered fish and chips. No seasoning. No salt. Way too much breading and very very greasy! I know it is fried, but with the thick breading it was just so greasy. Not at all worth the $14 that I could pay at a nice restaurant in town and get way better food. Fries had no salt either. The ambiance was interesting. The wait staff had a hard time staying in character, except for our server who really didn't care about being in character at all, let alone her customers. The pirates pig wasn't very good. A lot of fat on the meat and the chips were really tough to eat. CJ's has better. The Foragers feast wasn't anything to write home about either. The steak seemed like it had a lot of liquid smoke added to it. I miss the Fieldhouse. At least I could have gotten a beer there. read more

My son and I went here when we were visiting family in Billings. I was upset because it opened up for the first time a week after we moved away from town! So we were very excited to try it! The food was amazing! I got a burger and my son got a grilled cheese! He ate almost all of it, which is saying a lot lol Service was great. All of the servers were dressed in costume and played a large role in building on the ambience. Decorations were incredible and the store attached on the restaurant was so fun to walk-through. The service was great. She didn't go into "character" because i think she could tell we weren't there for that. It's location will be a challenge but that makes it nice because parking is easy and it was quiet on a Sunday from 12:30-2. The biscuits and gravy were the best I've found in a restaurant in a long time. For the rest I'd prefer more seasoning (I'll ask for 4x jalapeños on the next omelet) but I guess it's easier to add than take away. I didn't go in the store but my wife said it had a lot of good stuff for ren fair folks. read more

I love this place! Come for the ambiance and keep coming back for the food. Bergetta was our server and she's awesome!!! We had the smugglers cut for the appetizer, the king's dip (wife), king's platter (me), and finished it off with the drunken crumb for desert. It is homemade food, with excellent seasoning. Very disappointed. wasted our entire night waiting for food that never came. We waited over an hour with the server mentioning numerous times it was almost there. Come to find out after an hour the food still was not close. Management did not get involved until requested as we were leaving as it would have been nice to know a better idea of actual time before reaching an hour. Once we got up and told them we were leaving and asked for a manager he came to apologize. The server wanted to charge for drinks but manager did at least comp those. Its a very unique place I was looking forward to taking the family back but this was a horrible experience and could have been handled much better. read more

Went with my fiancé tonight for dinner. The ambience was amazing, the host and food runner were great! The live music was awesome! The beer was awesome and we love a good mead. When the waitress came over (black haired gal), she wasn't very nice, but I figured maybe she was having a bad night. I ordered the kings steak medium rare and my fiancé had the brocktopous. My fiancés food was good, however I received the steak dang near blue. However, as a past waitress, I get things happen. I've never submitted a bad review for a restaurant because I understand all the internal workings of a restaurant. I politely asked the waitress if she wouldn't mind putting it back on the grill for a minute or so. She grabbed the plate from me without a word and returned it at a well done. Fine. I ate it. Delicious. If it's a good steak, a little well done is fine. I'll eat anything as long as the bacteria is killed lol. I really don't fault the cook since sometimes things get busy etc. However the waitress didn't check back up on us the rest of the evening, didn't ask if we wanted refills or boxes, and brought our check over after we had been finished for over 20 minutes. I think throughout the whole dinner, she maybe said 5 words or less to us. I don't expect much. I swear, but that may have been the worst service I've received. Pictures are of the most well done part of the steak that I received first (I didn't get a picture of the middle since I asked her to cook it a little more, this was the edge that I cut off) and what I received back after asking for another minute on the grill. I do really wish the restaurant well as the idea is so cool and I love a good beer with a delicious dinner, but I don't think we will be back unfortunately. read more

This has quickly become my favorite place to go in town. Every visit has been incredible. The staff is amazing, so friendly and welcoming, their garb is incredible, they make a visit an experience. The food is delicious. Everything I've ordered has been wonderful. The stew is probably my favorite side, and the ribs are always tender and topped with an incredible house bbq sauce. The atmosphere gives you that renfaire fix, from the decor to the music, to the live musicians, its a great way to get away from the present and spend some time in a simpler time. They just had their first Sunday Brunch, and it was just as amazing as everything else. Other places claim you're family, at the Black Dragon Pub, you really are. read more

I'm torn. The atmosphere was quite nice, the waitress was pretty sweet and even gave us a tour of the place. Guess my biggest issue was the portions. I ordered pulled pork and the menu is talking about how the hogie bun is not small this is a alot. Well, the hoagie bun is not big like inferred. Might just say small. So no leftovers for me. Daughter did end up taking home part of her burger and we took home the fries we got as an appetizer. The meals were good, the fries delicious. The Dragons Blood is a bit on the bland side, I was expecting spicy but now I know. We did order dessert, Queen's Garden and that had to be the biggest let down of the entire meal. Dry as hell. I have picked up some frozen strawberries and in hopes we can help it out. The Pub is still waiting for the city to give the permits and looks to be a fun place to go. Once is it open. They did have an electric piano player, not rousing music considering where he was placed. Would be great for the fairy room but the pirate room is looking for something more upbeat. We will probably try again later. We got there before dinner was served and extremely late lunch so maybe it will be different next time. read more

Great atmosphere, staff dressed in Celtic garb. Food was even better. We had the pulled pork, sirloin tips, and prime rib. Cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth. The homemade BBQ sauce on the pulled pork was like none other. Highly recommend. read more
