I was seated right beside the piano, it didn't bother me at all. The other guests and I were able to talk and have a great time at the table together. We were really looking forward to this and unfortunately we were a little disappointed. You start with a sleigh ride up to the yurt, which was stunning! They provide blankets but definitely bundle up. Once you get there you are to go in and find your party's name and sit at assigned seats. Now this was when we started feeling a little uncomfortable. They had 10 people per table and the seats were so close to it was hard to eat without elbowing your neighbor. In order to go to the bathroom the person next to you had to get out, it was extremely uncomfortable. The yurt itself was very warm and cozy and the staff very friendly. Now the drinks and food. There is a very limited drink menu, basically wine by the bottle or glass and limited spirits and no mixers. We had a few shots and mixed it with the glogg they give you when you arrive. It is a prefixed 6 course menu, all of which was good but not worth the price you pay. All in all it was fun but not what we expected especially given how expensive it was. We won't do it again but it is something fun to do, maybe go on a day that is less busy so you are not so crammed and uncomfortable. read more

From start to finish this experience was incredible. The sleigh ride up, snuggled up with my fellow diners in blankets, the stars starting to come out and the glowing lights from Park City below?! Perfection. The yurt was incredibly cozy, the ambiance was *chefs kiss* perfection. The servers were super fun and gregarious, made us all feel at home. Chef Stephanie (Chefanie) was a delight and really knocked us off our feet with the flavors in each dish. We made a point to come for lunch on one of our ski days, and it didn't disappoint! Other than the skiing runs, this is the highlight of our trip! Unique, tasty and reasonably priced lunch experience! I would have stopped by here for apres if we didn't have a kid!! But I was glad that I grabbed their cookies to go and that made the best apres san alcohol! There were parts of the experience that were great and others that weren't my personal cup of tea but I know others loved it and that's okay. The ride up and back were excellent, I felt the email to prepare you for what to wear was great and helped me decide what would be appropriate and I loved that they give you blankets. The thing I didn't love and I know it is because they just don't have the space was the fact that my husband and I were seated in between two parties of guests and found it extremely difficult to have a conversation, the piano was a lovely touch but it was right behind me so talking was pretty non existent. We started with a warm cider which was very good and offered the option to add a shot to it, I opted for wine and my husband beer. I will say no one came over the rest of the night to see if we needed any more beverages, there were only 3 servers and they were very busy but it was something I noticed and my husband didn't love. After the 4th course he gave up wanting another beverage. The food for me was excellent, every course was great and I had no complaints. I sadly was so full that eating dessert was tough but I pushed through. I did not use the outhouse but my husband did, he did warn me that I might not want to use it but I was fully aware before we went that that was the bathroom situation and they had no running water, I made sure to use the bathroom at home before we left. I think they do a good job making people aware of that before you book on their website. I think for the experience it was quite pricey and to not be able to really have a conversation with my husband was disappointing. From what I heard at the end of the night people had a blast, like I said this is just my experience and not everyone will have the same view. read more

Is it touristy? Sure. But it's not limited to only a tourist experience. Ride in a snow cat. Eat in a yurt. And let the food be influenced by Norwegian roots. The Prix Fixe menu for our evening: GLØGG - non-alcoholic berry based drink, spices. Add a shot of aquavit or whiskey to spike it. SOUP - Lobster and Salmon SALAD - Anisette Pear, Watermelon Radish, lemon & honey dressing INTERMEZZO - lemon tarragon sorbet ENTREE - Red Wine Braised Short Ribs, Jarlsberg Potatoes, Ligonberry Jus, Winter Vegetables CHEESE COURSE - 4 different offerings: * Ski-Queen Gjetost Norway's signature cheese. It's served on traditional Norwegian lefse (potato flatbread) * Barely Buzzed this Utah cheese is hand rubbed with an expresso coffee blend and lavender buds * * * Irish Porter Marbled pattern, Guiness-brewer * Tête de Moine- the Swiss monks have made is cheese for eight centuries. DESSERT - Marzipan, Valrhona Chocolate, Vanilla Cardamom Ice Cream Everything was delicious and served on pewter dishes or natural elements like rock or wood. At the beginning of the evening the chef introduces himself and the staff. You won't see him again until the end of the night. The two wait staff served everyone; they were attentive but busy. Riding up to the Viking Yurt in the sleigh should be a magical experience. However, our group was forced to ride up to the Yurt in the cab of the snowcat rather than in the sleigh. There was no view from inside the snowcat, as all the windows were completely steamed up by the breath of the 8 guests inside. In addition, halfway up to the Yurt, a stream of water poured in through the roof of the snowcat, getting us all wet. read more

Located in the middle of the main ski run, the access could not be easier. Ski up, put your skis in the rack, walk up the stairs and find a chair outside or go in. Thought it would be packed but there were seats. It was busy at 12:30 but still got a seat by the fireplace. At lunch it was a pretty basic affair. Get in line, order your food and drinks, find a place to sit (in or out) and they bring your food out in a few minutes. Pretty limited menu and not health food, but was good and not too pricey considering you were eating in the middle of a ski run. Staff were friendly. read more

Perched among the lifts and runs of Park City mountain, this small establishment extends Norwegian hospitality to its patrons. We are repeat patrons of the Yurt and have always found the food on point and the vibe sublime. We return to lunch at the Yurt after a two year hiatus from the pandemic. Their lunch offerings are only happening on weekends, they need more help. The coconut curry soup is invigorating and I always enjoy a cup of gluvine after a few runs. Seating only 40 inside, the decor is warm and inviting and a wood stove keeps it toasty. On brighter days, bask outdoors on the "beach" and take in the amazing views. The Yurt is a treasure and it's continued success depends upon patronage and more staff! We love the team of Matt and Joseph who are making it happen!! read more

This dinner exceeded my expectations. The ride in the sled up to the yurt was incredibly magical and the food was phenomenal. Each plate was beautiful and tasted amazing. No detail was overlooked! Based upon the variance in previous reviews, we tried to go in with an open mind. We knew that we had to give ourselves plenty of time allotted for this event (it's not just another meal folks). Our group was not disappointed. Let me start by saying that my family is very judgmental on meals when we are out. We have particular items that we always order whenever it's offered on the menu, in search of the perfect one (i.e. biscuits and gravy, Caesar salad...). From the time we checked in for the ride up to the Yurt by a smiling face until we departed back at the base, it was fun and such a neat and delicious experience. The ride up was chilly and the group was separated into 4-5 different actual groups. We passed by several people skiing uphill, and even hiking with ski boots on. When we arrived, we were greeted by one of their folks who gave us a quick rundown and we then were invited into the Yurt. We walked in and it's very quaint and cute, warm and homey. Our table was right next to the door, but that wasn't a big deal. The table was set with interesting cups and chargers, trying to maintain the Nordic theme. Food was excellent, from the salad (need a bit more dressing), the shortribs (YUM!) and the finale of the chocolate cake surprise (I can't remember the chef's description, just that it was fantastic). You won't be disappointed by Chef Steph's (Chefanie) creations. The one thing I would say is that the experience could be made better by having one more person assisting in the process of orders/plating/serving so that there's not such a long time between the first table being served to the last. I realize that this is an experience, and there are other ideas I have which they could certainly implement in order to draw the different groups together to make it even more fun, but it's not my business and they didn't ask! They had a lot of nice touches, including a live piano player who was playing songs that it seemed only my table was singing along to (quietly since no one else really was). A the end of the night, we jumped back onto the sleigh and proceeded down the mountain, stars shining, but also some wind and a bit of snow. Our experience was excellent and I gave them 5*, even with the couple of bits which didn't take away from our experience! Acouple of tips: Make sure you dress warm for the trips up/down the mountain, be mentally and socially prepared for a 3-3.5 hour meal with your tablemates, if you are wanting a 'drink', you may want to consider bringing your own bottle of wine, or if looking for something with more abv, be prepared for a very limited offering. As a whiskey drinker, the choices were really a let down, but like I mentioned before, it didn't take away from the experience. Cheers! read more

Overall, my family and I had a wonderful experience here. The food was delicious and "Chef Steph" is very talented. However, the one very large drawback of this is that service is verrryyyy slow. There are only five tables inside the yurt, and yet the food would come out so slowly that the first and second tables would be finished with their course before the last table was even served. There's some nice music inside and the structure is very homey and warm. Overall, would do this again (even if the same menu was served), however, I would swap placards with the first table inside just to make sure we can eat in a timely manner. I think this place would benefit from a fourth server to help plate food in the back and keep things rolling read more

This was our second year visiting the Yurt - we enjoyed it so much last year, that we had to do our birthday celebration here again! The sleigh ride is chilly, yes, but not if you dress warmly. View is fantastic...once arrived, you're greeted with a warm, inviting ambiance and staff. Amber was there from last year - and equally as much fun and engaging! Manuel the piano player took our requests and has an amazing range of songs. The food is top notch - the touches e.g. using local wood, rocks from Norway for the amuse bouche, "Glogg" that can be "spiced up" - lead to a memorable evening.
