    Kolaches, Texas twists
    Angel P.

I've always been a huge fan of Czech Stop so I decided to try this place. The kolaches were pretty good but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's alot better than czech stop though. Honestly I thought these had a bit too much bread and too little filling. However I think this place deserves 4 stars because of the Texas twists. Those were really good. Soft, moist and just the right amount of filling. The filling was spread all throughout the bread. Also got pecan roll and that was okay.. basically it was just bread with some glaze and nuts on top. Slightly disappointed with this because it was supposed to be one of their best sellers and we even got the last one they had left! I think I'll be coming back for their twists when I'm ever headed this way but their hours aren't very convenient so who knows when that'll be !

#AllergenInfo - Soy, Nuts: The Kolaches are nut free, but not Soy free. However their cookies are soy free, except for the ones that have chocolate chips, (possible soy lecithin,) and the were unsure if the peanut butter had soy or not, Other occasional items are soy, or nut free, but ask if you are unsure or worried. On my first visit, I had their Sandtart, and it was very good, but I prefer their Macadamia Nut cookie that I had on my second visit.. The cookie was mostly soft and sweet, (almost too sweet,) with a mild yielding crunch from the nuts. I think I prefer this cookie over the drier Sandtart. My wife also enjoyed an Apricot Kolache, but since their kolaches are not soy-free, my search for soy-free kolaches continues. We travel between San Antonio and Dallas only occasionally, but if we can come through during business hours, I look forward to stopping in to try more of their other cookies. It takes a slight detour from the highway, but the extra effort pays off deliciously.

We were on a road trip from Fort Worth Texas and decided to stop in. The kolaches are very good. I had a peach kolache. This is an older bakery that looks like it has been around for years. They have lots of awards for their famous kolaches displayed in the front of the business. I didn't realize that there were competitions for kolaches. If you are visiting West Texas, this is a good place to try.

My favorite kolaches and koblasnikis in town. So many other pastries to choose from, too. I always tell my friends to not go to the bakery on the interstate, go a few blocks into town to Village. You won't regret it.

Not even close to the original recipe. Sad. Threw mine away and went to the Czech Stop! So disappointing!

Their bakery counter is STUFFED FULL of goodies. I wouldn't do them justice by trying to name everything they have. Cakes, cookies, savory & sweet kolaches, cinnamon rolls the size of your face in at least 20 varieties, & more! It's one of those things you just need to see for yourself! No frills about it. Just good, small & local! I got a the pecan cream cheese cinnamon rolls- 5/5 - just wanted to try it so we split it in 4. So good slightly heated up. Also got ham & cheese kolaches. The bread is best I've had. The ham is not cheap deli sliced ham - it's actual ham ground up. The meat to cheese ratio was a little off for my preference (stuffed full of meat, needed a little more cheese to help cut the salt) but I plan to go back and try more when passing through again. They had some boxes of day old product for discounted price. Go check them out!

Really makes me wonder why cream cheese isn't used in more savory kolaches. Outside of that one they have a wide selection that has consistently provided hits when I try something new. The bread quality is really good, and they don't skimp on the meats either. I will say their savory quality is a touch higher than the sweet, particularly on the bread, but the sweet are also quite good and have a crazy array of options. I think this spot is super overlooked and is well worth giving a try. I've never run into a line here so if you're tired of waiting at other close by places I'd highly recommend driving the extra block to give this spot a try

And while the other one is great and fabulous, this one is one star better. A huge selection of baked goods, coffee, decor, clothing, drinks and more. The Kissing Pig Cafe has so many food options, too! Mrs. K. has not had a kolache in years and she's now pescatarian which presents certain challenges. It would be awesome if they had some kolaches with just cheese or were sweet, so while I had one with ham and cheese and one with sausage in cheese, she was at least able to enjoy a strawberry and cream danish as well as the always awesome poppyseed kolache. It's possible that a pecan square was purchased for later consumption, too. The self-serve coffee was great and we enjoyed all of this inside at a comfortable table. And after that, more shopping. So much great stuff to choose from here and very, very clean restrooms. If you're overwhelmed by that massive baked goods counter, just ask for recommendations. They'll get you sorted for sure! Excellent selection of kolaches and klobasneky. You can also buy sandwiches. Minus: as on previous visits, I have found that they are often out of poppyseed and prune kolaches. Not the servers' fault but you would think management would be keen to bake more of what sells most. Then there are the sandwiches. If you want pork, you'll get value. But if you want brisket, look out! I've never seen a more miserly portion offered for 13 dollars. I understand that brisket is expensive now. But I still get it at various restaurants and have to say that it was a five dollar sandwich for thirteen bucks. Additionally, the sandwich maker apparently does not know what and order for "moist" brisket means. Mine proved rather dry.
