Classic travel food stop. Prices are good and selection is abundant. If you're driving between Dallas and Austin/ San Antonio, try picking up a dozen assorted kolaches as a gift for friends, family or coworkers. Make sure to check out their discounted items shelves for some good deals.

Stopped in this week during Spring Break. Other side of bakery remains closed. We encountered long lines as a result. Tried the coconut kolache, it was good but not great. Pimento cheese on white and deviled egg were great as always. Picked up a box of cheddar jalapeño biscuits. The crowded lines lets you know this is a beloved institution.

A truly wonderful place to buy delicious, high-quality baked goods. Fast service and an huge variety of pastries to choose from. They also have frozen options, many kinds of Czech sausages, and natural jams. This place is an absolute hidden gem right off the highway: a real diamond you don't expect to find.

I always love stopping by here whenever I have a trip between Austin to Dallas. Bakery with a gas station right off I 35 is pretty convenient if you need to pump gas and also get some sweet treats. In term of their kolache, I love the wide varieties of sweet and savory options, but after trying it for the third time can confirm I am not impressed. Somehow none of my kolache bread/dough ever tastes fresh which is so disappointing. The toppings are all very good, don't get me wrong but the staleness of the bread is such a big letdown.

Small but nice pit stop. The puff pastries were all really good. And only over $2 per puff is a good deal! The other snack choices are also great to have for a road trip. Definitely so here if you are tried off the bbq choices from the same Bill boards you see along the highway.

My friend's always talk about this place! Super cute little store that has SO MANY OPTIONS! I wanted to eat everything! The staff can sling out orders like nobody's business and it is incredible! You need to be ready to make decisions but I will tell you... NONE of them will be wrong! I do want to note... anything with jalapeno will be spicy. They def use quality produce and the jalapenos are FRESH! Next time I go by I will clearly be making a stop!

Great little quick shop, sandwich, kolache, pig in a blanket breakfast treats! Location is part of a gas station. This location on the highway, one hour South of DFW in West, TX. Staff is great, very friendly and helpful with selections. Picked up food to go, all was really good. Highly recommend this place for a stop and treat of Czech foodie items!

Months ago, you're driving from San Antonio to Dallas to see a friend and go to a concert. His mom tells you to make a pit stop in West, Texas, and try some life-changing kolaches. You ignore her recommendation because you're foolish and would rather drive without stopping. Flash forward to June. You are employed. You are working a full-time job and have been for six months. You're doing a decent job. You are going up to Dallas for a work conference. During the travel, you echo this must-stop location to your party with confidence, like you've been there before. You haven't. You secretly just want to try it. You're not lying. You're just really confident. You're in the city of West, Texas, which is actually in North Texas. Poor name choice. Hello, Czech Stop. Inside this tourist-stop gas station, you find mugs with your name on them, your typical travel snacks, and the most intriguing row of pastries you have ever seen. Your team locks in. Kolaches and klobasniks will be destroyed like a Jenga tower 20 rounds deep. I ordered the classic sausage with cheese and jalapeño, as well as a "hot chubbie" with cheese. Hot chubbie spoke to me because that's what they called me in high school. As we continued on our journey, those klobasniks disappeared like David Copperfield. It is truly worth the stop to get some real klobasniks with good breading and a quality sausage or hot link inside. Puts your donut shops to shame. It's not a comparison.

This last visit they were out of my favorite options so I go sausage and kraut pastry which turned out really good!

Everyone's favorite road trip stop! The staff are friendly and have great recommendations if you're overwhelmed by the variety. There's tons of fruit kolaches to choose from and various sausage rolls. The raspberry cream cheese is my favorite! Don't be overwhelmed by the line either/ it moves so quickly and you'll be back on the road in no time

Who doesn't love to stop here while traveling between Dallas and Austin/San Antonio?! The kolaches are delicious and range from savory to tons of sweet ones. My personal favorites are the sweet ones with fruit and cheese. The quality of the bread is fantastic and the fact that it's a Shell gas station is fantastic! A few warnings though, the fruit does not appear to be made in house and is the gelatinous pie filling types. Be careful of the lemon (non kolache), I've had it before and it was wonderful, but this last time it was the first time I've spit something out of my mouth in a long time. Also if it's a busy weekend, people tend to fill their gas tanks and won't move while sitting inside the long line getting kolaches (I had to yell at someone for not moving, wish they'd police this a bit better). Be sure to ask them to warm one up so you can eat it hot!

The best anywhere. Not much else to say. Crowds speak for themselves. Been here forever and will always be here!

The second trip confirms, Czech Stop is phenomenal!!! I have no idea how the prices seem stagnant from the 1980's, but I am for it! The kolaches are great, yes. But I think I have found the holy grail in the cinnamon roll. It is a lot bigger than the picture suggests and oh so flavorful and soft. The only negative here is I wish I live 60 miles closer!

The quality seems to have declined over years. The apricot fruit filling of kolache is flavorless.

Kolaches almost the worst in town next to Gerek bakery. Very dry, stiff dough. Other bakeries better.

Is there any vegan bakery items?

I didn't see any Vegan items on their menu so I would suggest you call just to be sure.

Do they sell chocolate coconut macaroons (a chocolate cookie with coconut inside). We used to get them years ago, not sure if they still make them?

    Gluten free options?

No gluten free options. I just checked with the staff

But it is quality cheese, and you get see where it is made. Not being familiar with this shop, we decided, with the help of Matt (I believe he is the head cheese, maker) to put together a sampling of the available cheeses. The ones were picked are: Granbury Gold: 2-4 month aged Gouda style cheese. Granbury Vintage: 6-9 month aged Gouda style cheese. Birdville Reserve: Natural rind Trappist style cheese. Caraway to Heaven: Toasted caraway seeds in a Gouda style cheese. There was not a bad cheese in the bunch and we enjoyed them all, right down to the rind, which IS edible. I added a photo of all available cheese, and the prices. I totally expect to come back, whenever we need to put a cheese plate together. Oh, and as another testament, as we were leaving a group of 4 came in, and they had driven all the way from Dallas after learning of this cheese. And I will say, it is worth the drive. Bottom line: If you like cheese, this place is definitely worth going out of your way for!

If you are a fan of aged cheeses, this is a must visit! We tried the granbury gold (the mildest), award winning birdville reserve, caraway to heaven, granbury limited edition, and drunken monk: they were out of the bottom three. We purchased every one of them! Locally sourced and made...it was perfection! We will definitely be back for more on our next visit to the area!!!
