I was really excited to try this place with all the great reviews, but it was a little bit disappointing. I ordered the pain au chocolat, and it was mid and didn't taste fresh. They heated it up for me and was a weird temperature and texture. The iced latte was pretty good though. The atmosphere is definitely nice and cute. read more

LOVE this sweet little slice of Paris in Dallas! Everything is killer. I especially love their chocolate croissant loaf, it's like a chocolate croissant but it's a loaf and if you get an end piece it's super flakey, buttery and theres a little bit of a crunch I also love their sourdough bread and their Meyer lemon rosemary bread, I'm not a huge fan of the jalapeño and cheddar- it lacks flavor in my opinion. They have a jambon cru sandwich wich has ham cheese and butter on a baguette- so French and delicious. The have a tasty quiche Lorraine plus coffee! Great quality here!! I even asked once for their multigrain loaf and they honestly told me it wasn't a great batch so I bought the sourdough instead and they gave me their "botched"multigrain for free. My absolute favorite bakery in Dallas. This has become a staple in the weekend mornings of many uptown-area residents. Their plain croissants are "as good as the ones in France" according to my parents who lived in France for years. Their almond and chocolate-almond croissants are also delicious, as is their croissant loaf. The staff is always very friendly, the bakery is clean, and the outdoor patio is cute as well. Does get very busy on the weekends but this is expected for a bakery this good. read more

Everything else didn't look super appetitzing. So, I Ordered two chocolate croissants and a ham and cheese croissant. The bag holding them was completely lucid on one side because of all the butter or oil that it soaked up. The chocolate croissants themselve did not have an even distribution of chocolate inside. I have been on a quest to find the best kouign amann ever since I tried one here in Houston. I thought I had found the best in downtown San Antonio but this place unseated the SA bakery in a huge way. I have only had the regular, unflavored pastry but the Village has three flavors -- regular, seasonal fruit and chocolate. Oh. My. Goodness. While they were smaller than the ones I get in Houston, they were so much more delicious. I'm used to a very soft pastry and while this was still soft in the middle, the crunch they get on the outside was amazing. And it's not an overcooked crunch, it's a caramel sugary crunch. I'm glad I found it but now I have to plan road trips to Dallas to get it again. read more

Have been here a few times and have not been disappointed once. I got a chocolate-almond croissant twice, and it was divine. Definitely would recommend asking them to warm it up though, because they do not always offer. I also have gotten an oat milk latte from them a few times and it is well prepared and quick. I have been to France, Germany, Switzerland, you name it and these are the best pastries I've had. Definitely ask them to warm up your pastry. Makes a big difference. The eclairs, cheddar bacon croissant and the croissant bread are my favorites. The croissant bread (an incredible layer flakey bread loaf with lots of chocolate) is my favorite. I'm a picky coffee drinker and like theirs. It's also a cute place that allows for great people watching. And the staff are great. Highly recommend! People around here love it. Going to the Village Baking has become a Saturday morning tradition for my family. All of the pastries are to die for and we love the homey atmosphere. My go to is the spinach and feta croissant, but you will not be disappointed regardless of what you order. The staff is super friendly and you can see the owner being involved and interacting with customers which makes you feel welcome. He is always super friendly to our dog, giving her loads of treats and giving us some to take home. There is typically a line during the weekends but it is worth it! The inside is small, but I think it adds to the charm of the bakery. There is some seating inside and outside, but typically I will walk to a nearby park and enjoy my goodies. Day two rock hard and molded (peach kouign amann). To add to the bad experience, woman I can only presume to be the manager has the worst attitude, she tries to hide it with a fake smile as she rolls her eyes. Pretty sure not only is this a health violation, but enough of a rude inconvenience to keep me from ever going back. I had a great experience but went home and checked my receipt. They charged me for an entire cake vs a slice of cake. Tried to call them but their phone is out of order. Had to walk over. They reversed the charge but my 20% tip was not adjusted to the new amount so they were technically tipped about 38% for a very poor experience. As of right now I have not seen the charge reversed. I am glad I asked for someone's number because if the credit does not work there would be no way to contact them for additional support as I am from out of town. Bought 4 pastries curbside. They were definitely with Noah on the Ark - very dry, not fresh and had to throw away. This is NOT acceptable to do this curbside. I find this dishonest and of very poor taste! We have supported Village bakery for years pre Covid and thought it a good idea to do curbside. VERY disappointed! read more
