Initially I was hesitant to offer up a Yelp for a place that I was not having the main offering at…read morebut I changed my mind and here we are. The Bagel Pub is a quaint corner bagel spot in Sunset Park and while I've known about it for some time, its not the most convenient for me since I live in Bay Ridge and there are plenty of bagel stores for me to choose from on any given day. This past Sunday however, I took a ride with my friend to the also nearby Costco as she and her family needed some things and while we were planning on the Dunkin Donuts that is right there, she wanted one of the tasty muffins from Bagel Pub. Once inside I viewed the cozy space which was mostly a food preparation area with a small corridor for the customers to line up and get their goodies. The bagels looked great but my own mindset was fixated on the DD "Meal Deal" today but my friend did get their muffin but nothing else. I didn't see any area where the customer can go and sit but from the outside there seemed to be an adjacent area that looks like its unused at this time. The COVID times changes a lot of places mode of operation and sometimes what used to be open isn't anymore but I digress. My friend and I did end up in Dunkin and she shared half of her poppy seed muffin so I can say that its super tasty and filling. I just wish that I had thought of taking a photo before it was in devour mode. This does seem to be a popular spot if you are a nearby neighbor but for me its on the distant side and I felt that it might be a little pricier than some of the places that I already go. Had we not been going to Costco I wouldn't have even been at this particular Dunkin Donuts. Maybe next time that this is the mission I will try something more substantial and update this Yelp.

Nestled in the Industry City food court is this new bowl phenomenon called Avo. Seed oil free,…read morehealthy and nutritious - there is so much to love about this bowl. I ordered the buy one get one free spicy chicken bowl on Uber Eats, which was a pretty good deal. I think the additional chicken al pastor I added had more seasoning than the original chicken, even though this bowl is advertised as spicy, I think the seasonings are a little on the light side. The dressing that came on the side was delicious and was essential to brighten the whole thing up. I love that these bowls are high fiber and not drowning in lots of rice like Chipotle and the likes. The cabbage adds a necessary crunch for texture without adding too many calories. The addition of the half avocado is also so good and the flavor profile of the entire bowl is really delicious. I can't wait to come again and try more of their combos. This is a great spot to grab a quick lunch or mid afternoon meal. They will be seeing more of me!

Avo is one of the numerous restaurants located in the Food Hall building in Industry City. Avo's interior is enticing, bright and has numerous options to choose from. Of course the meals include avocado as the star ingredient. Their breakfast wraps include Greek: spinach, eggs with crumbled feta, Mexican: with scrambled eggs, black beans and cheese, American with eggs, cheese and bacon. Signature plates include salmon, chicken Al pastor and Brussels poblano. These plates will come with interesting ingredients: fajita roasted veggies, roasted corn, cotija cheese and avocados. There are a wealth of salads to choose from; portobello which has the mushrooms, garlic chipotle crema, kale Caesar and the one I chose, My Thai. The My Thai salad is delicious with spinach , arugula, shredded cabbage, cilantro, shredded carrots, avocado, organic tofu, watermelon radish, spicy cashews and ginger sesame dressing. One can add protein or keep salad simple. You can also order from specialty menu like a burger or guac wrap or smoothies. The torta was also great - fluffy bread, a huge variety of veggies, creaminess from beans and avocado, and some tart notes from pickled vegetables. Both items came out to about $24, which is a bit more than I was expecting, but it ended up being a pretty sizeable amount of food.

Their torta bread is all pressed, leaving grill marks and making for a nice crispy bite each time. I ordered the Torta Chorizo and Huevo Torta and didn't want it to end. The flavors and ingredients work together so well, especially the fresh cheese. It's such a soft yet satisfyingly salty element in the whole mix. I also tried the hefty Mexicana Torta. Great recommendation for meat-fanatics. It's a packed mouthful with exciting textures and savory goodness. I actually really enjoyed this one even after I let it sit out a couple of hours. The textures seemingly got even more distinguished. Lastly, the empanadas are amazing as well. Their fillings are completely full--no room for disappointment. This commute is an hour-long one way for me, and I would do it every time. Great place that proves Sunset Park has phenomenal food.
