If you want to go to a place that's closest to Vegan roots, then Cuffie Ridge can't come any closer. I've come across this establishment when I would do random spontaneous crawls through different cities in search of unique food/ collectible establishments. The name itself stood out , and from the outside, it looked like this small , cool mini juice cafe. I was greeted with a smile by the owner and the Jamaican accent couldn't be missed. Knowing some Jamaican culture, Caribbean Rastafarians have a long and rich tradition of plant based eating. With that said , my guess was right about this place. The owner is a great conversationalist and he educated me on his ingredients and method. Although "veganism" may have been highlighted by millennial white folks sounding more like a fad, Rastafarians have practiced this way of eating for nearly a century (correct if I'm wrong). Standing true to the vegan spirit, their juices are potent, and the soups are amazing. All I had was one empanada and a soup (not to mention a "mellow mood") and I was alert , energized and satiated for the next 4-5 hours. For that true vegan nourishment , I say Cuffie Ridge should be one of your Brooklyn destinations. It's a hidden gem yet to be discovered. If you end up on the west coast in SoCal, hit up The Vegan Joint in Culver City and Woodland Hills and for some great vegan recipes , TurnipVegan on IG. Don't walk too fast or you might miss it! It's not easy to find Caribbean flavors in Greenpoint so when you find it, hold on tight! This was my second time going to Cuffie Ridge. I was greeted by Ash, who is very kind and welcoming. I ordered a large lentil soup (with carrots, potatoes, and dumplings) and 2 spinach patties. It's more than enough for lunch and so delicious. The best part is that it's all VEGAN! Cuffie Ridge will not disappoint. read more

It was a treat to discover Cuffie Ridge on a trip to Greenpoint last year, and rediscover it last week! It is a tiny spot with a few counter seats+ outdoor seating, very fresh and delicious ingredients, and a large variety of smoothies and other flavorful and healthy treats (sweet potato pie, lentil soup, avocado soup, to name a few)! The owner is Jamaican and friendly and he has been kind and helpful with recommendations--I loved the smoothie he recommended this time (the blue one, but I forget the name?) and the carrot cake! They were perfectly spiced (the smoothie had some nutmeg in it:) and refreshing. It's the kind of business you feel good supporting and I hope Cuffie Ridge flourishes...eating at Cuffie Ridge supports kind and hardworking people, animals, the environment, and your body and spirit! So do the world a favor, especially yourself, and get there! read more

Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Also they forgot about the clam chowder we ordered and asked if we still want it.. YES..that's why we ordered it. Overall if you don't pay attention to those details it's worth coming for some great seafood. BUT I highly recommend getting a reservation.
