When I go out of my way to go to the "Safeway Pharmacy" on las Gallinas Rd. there is a whole shopping center there plus a Safeway, to shop in. They carry good grass fed and finished beef, ( the way you can tell is by the coloring, purple and the leanest meat you can get). There is a technique in cooking grass fed meat look on YouTube! Anyway, Charley, is my favorite pharmacist because he is a gentleman and he is straight with you about your medication if they have it or not, or if they have to order it and how long it might take! I like that because it gives me options about maybe trying another pharmacy if I have to wait a long time! A lot of pharmacists are not so straight with customers and it can screw up their medication plans for the month, especially if you need a ride to the pharmacy! Try Safeway pharmacy if you are having a rough time in lower Marin. They also have a Quest, blood draw lab right in the grocery by the pharmacy! It's great! read more

I was super fortunate to have grabbed a space for a covid vaccine at Safeway Pharmacy. The Saturday before my Monday appointment, the pharmacist called to verify my details and insurance information. He was chatty and friendly. The night before, I received paperwork to complete and submit. I arrived on time and was taken in immediately. The pharmacist was working alone and was busy but didn't get flustered or stressed. He took his time and handled everything with humor and grace. It took a while, but I was delighted to get the vaccine and book my next shot. All in all, a good experience. read more

This review is for the store not the pharmacy. Dirty, crowded and understaffed. The anti-theft settings they have on self-service are so extreme they're unusable, if you scan an item and then put the item plus a plastic bag on the scale, the weight of the bag raises an alarm. Meanwhile meth-addicts are strolling out of the door with bottles of wine and liquor, hilarious. read more

I'm giving this Safeway pharmacy 5 stars simply for answering their phone, something that other pharmacies don't seem to do. All Safeway pharmacy staff were polite from start to finish after I arrived. They handled my requested vaccination request & several prescription transfers from other pharmacies very efficiently. They even asked if any prescriptions were urgent and said they would handle as soon as possible. Who does that? Amazing customer service! read more

My hat is off to Greg in the pharmacy at Safeway in Terra Linda of San Rafael. The power was going to shut down today due to a PGE PSPS event. My wife just realized one of her prescriptions would run out before the power comes back on so she was very concerned. Excluding the bakery, go elsewhere. The bakery is outstanding. The doughnuts are great!! The lady supervisor gets 5 gold stars!!! She deserves a raise!!! Some of the checkers are incompetent, rude, and poorly trained. The higher ups should check out this store. I travel to Lucky's, Grocery outlet in Novato. The Safeway pharmacy is awesome! Hello Mike, Charles and Greg! They will be aggressive to get your insurance to cover you prescription; getting your information, re-submitting it, etc. BTW, I don't get this stuff people are saying about how bad the experience is at the supermarket. No matter how busy the pharmacy is the pharmacist and staff (Charlie) always take the time to explain medications to me. Once I had a question about a prescription for my young son and the pharmacist Greg actually took the time to research my questions and possible solutions on line while I waited. With five children and prescriptions to deal with I really feel like this is a true family friendly pharmacy. read more

Safeway is the worst supermarket in Northern California -- period. They advertise just 4 you Lucerne Greek non fat yogurt and are out. The Hamilton Plaza store was also out of it. This is common on just 4 you products or other 'bargains' offered. Items are not logically placed in the store. For example, there is a tea isle but ice tea is in the specialty section three or more aisles away. Safeway does this haphazard placement so customers have to look for items, spend more time in the store and then (so their consultants advise the corporation) the stupid customer will spend more money. Instead all the customers I talk to are pissed off and spend less money buying only what they need and going to another supermarket for everything else. Safeway advertises tea java at a good price but the Hamilton Store was out of it. This morning, I tried to buy the Bondilo rolls advertised at the San Rafael Las Gallinas store. The bakery was out of it and I waited for 10 minutes to talk to a baker to see if more was available. Instead no one working in the bakery department showed up -- ever. When I went to another department to ask about the bakery personnel, they ignored me. To be blunt -- Safeway sucks. I only shop there in emergencies. read more

I came in for my monthly refills and also a much needed flu shot. They are always so welcoming and helpful. The pharmacist was knowledgeable and very kind. My normal doctors office had run out of the flu vaccine, luckily Safeway was able to bill my insurance just like they would have in office. read more
