Food B to B+, Service A, Price C. A great experience overall.

Thursday night, around 7, place was empty, or almost. Atmosphere was so bad, other than the river (which when busy would be fun to watch), we ordered fast and got out of there. People were friendly, just really no charm at all. Food mediocre. If you end up in the marina overnight (which we did), take the complimentary shuttle up to Charlie's Crab, you'll be happy. read more

So my mother in law really loves this place, she mentions it all the time. So for Mother's Day her I made reservations for her, my sister in law and I. Good thing we did when got there it was packed. But we gave them my name and got taken to our table. The place was very nice, decor was beautiful the scenery was breath taking. Since it was Mother's Day they served up a dinner buffet, salad/soup station and dessert bar. All 3 of us agreed he food was pretty good, very filling. My SIL & I agreed the chicken Marsala was pretty tough. However we loved the perch, I've never had perch before. The service was pleasant our waitress was very attentive, polite and fast. The only things I saw that was iffy was the soup station was very disorganized and messy and the bathrooms as well but I took into consideration in was Mother's Day, packed and my MIL did mention it normally isn't packed. We definitely will be going back once it gets warmer, we'd love to dine outside by the water. read more

We had company in from overseas and wanted a nice dinner and great staff with a casual scenic experience. The Voyageur filled that desire perfectly. We were greeted friendly and seated immediately. Our waitress Heather was at the top of her game. She was very friendly and attentive at all times to our party of 4. She should be considered for a head waitress position if she isn't already one. Our food which included perch, prime rib and fettuccine as as dinner and oysters, crab cakes and pickerel fingers as appetizers tasted great and was cooked to perfection. The restaurant was clean, comfortable and had a perfect scenic view. We were very happy from beginning to end and definitely will return. read more

I had the opportunity to be in the saint Claire area 3 times in the last 2 months. I noticed the green awning that said rib eye steaks. The first time I was in a hurry and needed to get to Western Oakland County so was not able to stop. I recall saying to a friend in the car with me that day "I like rib eye steaks", as she reminded me I did not have time for one. The second time thru did not stop but now the anticipation was growing. So, long story short is I went to the Marine City Maritime festival on Saturday afternoon. Now I could have eaten at any of the restaurants in town or got some ribs and sausage from a vendor who was grilling at the event. I suggested we go up to Saint Clair to the "rib eye steak place". The place was packed. It was a beautiful summer evening. The views from every seat is outstanding. Watching the freighters pass by, the pleasure boats and jet skis and everything made for a nice atmosphere. For starters I had a cup of clam chowder and a house salad. The salad was good nothing special but seemed fresh. The chowder had a nice consistency but lacked flavor. It was mostly potatoes and only a few small pieces of clam. Next came the oysters Rockefeller. I thought they seemed a bit pricy when I saw them on the menu but when the plate arrived and there were six instead of the typical 3, I was a bit impressed. Until I dug into them. They were so small you could barely taste any actual oyster at all...just cheese and spinach. None of this would have mattered all that much if I got a good steak. I ordered the rib eye. It had a bourbon mushroom sauce on top, not bad. I did not want it to be undercooked I ordered the steak medium/medium rare only because most restaurants medium still has a red center. I find I can go a bit more rare on a new your strip than a rib eye. Mine was medium well...a bit over done for my taste. It came with the smallest baked potato I ever saw. Green beans were good. So overall the meal was just O.K. it was not bad but nothing stood out as being great either. The service was horrible. We got pawned off from one waitress to another half way into our ordering and the one we ended up with apparently was busy at the other end of the restaurant and paid us very little attention. So overall it was a nice place to go and watch the boats go bye but the food and service were not very good at all. Too bad...could have been a nice place to frequent. Sorry folks on two stars. Ya gotta do more than write the check for a nice lot on the river if you want to have a world class place. read more

It's a pretty good place. The food is decent and the building is a little shabby, but it's a good place to sit down and watch boats and freighters go by in the river. read more

We had a family dinner here on Saturday the same weekend as the art fair. There were six of us and we had a 630 reservations. We all arrived early and enjoyed a drink at the bar. The bartender Nick is the best. The place was crazy with people because of the art fair but we were seated for dinner right on time. We all ordered a variety of dinners and every one of us were extremely satisfied. The scallop shrimp combo was especially good and I highly recommend it. Every one that waited on us was extremely pleasant and the view of the river cannot be beat. Overall everything was very enjoyable and we are all looking forward to coming back soon. prices are a little on the high end, especially in the bar/bowling alley side of the place. The food is always good though, and the whole bar staff especially Dominic are the friendliest people we have ever dealt with. I guess that's why we keep coming back despite the prices! read more

We received a gift certificate from friends for Christmas and made reservations. It was a delightful meal. Best Shrimp Cocktail we have ever had. Food was delicious, service was great and attentive without being intrusive. The view was great. I have just booked our family Christmas party with the Voyager knowing we will not be disappointed. read more

If you liked 1975 then you'll love this place!!! I think most people go here because of what they or their parents remember rather than what it is today. Today it is just an average restaurant with a great view of the river. I had the perch and it was ok, but certainly not the best I've ever had. Service was sub par (I think some of the staff has been there since 1975). The view makes it though and I would go back just for that. read more
