Oh no! I've lowered my rating! I recently called in a lunch deli order on 8/31. I knew it was a busy day so rather than clog up the store I'd call ahead and then pick it up. There is no clear "system" for picking up call ins that I could see. I stood by the deli, waited for either of the two young men to acknowledge me. When they didn't I said, "Excuse me. I called in an order." One of them slightly nodded, then stood still and continued his conversation with the other deli dude. After about thirty seconds he reached right in front of him, grabbed a sandwich and wordlessly placed it in front of me. "MARY" it read. "Excuse me. I'm not Mary." He again wordlessly grabbed a sandwich and placed it on the counter. 2nd time is the charm I guess...but man, a few customer service lessons as well as some humility could be taught here. read more

There is nothing average about The Warren Store. In a small town where you hope that, at the very least, there is a general store, a The Warren Store goes above and beyond in almost every way imaginable. My favorite aspects are their deli sandwiches, local gourmet food selection, and excellent gap raft beer, wine, and ciders. I look forward to my trips to Vermont, in no small part, because of the goodies that I discover at this tiny little shop. My boyfriend and I get lunch at The Warren Store pretty much every day when we're in Vermont. They have AMAZING sandwiches AND they offer gluten free bread! Everywhere you turn, you'll find something delicious that is made in Vermont. All sorts of cheeses, cured meats, pickled things, eggs, candies. They have it all here! Kudos to Vermont for making some of the best food on the planet. And kudos to The Warren Store for selling it all! The Warren Store also has everyday groceries, so there's no need to leave town if your pantry is in need. On top of food and drink, The Warren Store also sells clothing and Vermont souvenirs. While I would rather spend my moola on things that can be eaten or drank, I always have a look around at everything else this gem of a store has to offer. The Warren Store is my version of heaven. When I head back to Rhode Island, it is with a cooler full of Vermont-made bacon, cheese, and ciders that I savor in the days ahead! read more

The Warren Store is a bit of a tourist trap, but so are a lot of the country stores in Vermont and at least the Warren Store parking lot can't fit a tour bus. On the inside you'll find the necessities: decent coffee, local beer, a great deli, some souvenirs, a bunch of candy, and creaky floorboards. Upstairs is a surprisingly upscale (or at least expensive) clothing boutique. The sandwiches are big enough to share. My recent experience was with a hummus and vegetable sandwich that had lots of tasty veggies and plenty of hummus, but could have used some hot peppers or a more garlicky hummus to give it some zip. Paired with some salt and vinegar kettle chips and a world class pickle, it made a great lunch. You can order whatever sandwich you want, but the pickle is a must. Perfectly crisp and briney. If you can manage it without endangering yourself, eating your haul on a rock by the stream that runs next to the store is always enjoyable. Oh, and they had some Heady Topper in the fridge so obviously I left with a four pack. read more

The Warren Store is a hidden local spot that offers quaint country charm and some cool items. This cool market of sorts in located in the small town of Warren, about 2 miles from Sugarbush where I sometimes go skiing. The store is a mix mash of different thngs. It is a country market that offers fresh cheese, wine, hot sauces, candy from the 50's, dipping sauces, hip trendy items like pesto crackers or flax seed crisps... There is also a deli with awesome sandwiches, salads, pasteries etc. Then there are sections upstairs selling locally made crafts- dishes, jewelry, clothing and a cute toy section. It's fun to look around if nothing else! I reccomend the breakfast sandwich on your way to the slopes. You can even have a hot cup of cider instead of coffee! read more

I've been happily coming here with my family for years. Today I ordered a hummus sandwich with olives. When I opened it, it was terrible. They'd obviously taken a fist full of olives rather than a few. When I brought it back, the guy behind the counter just grunted and proceeded to do the same thing again. The deli manager saw it and didn't care a bit and the third person behind the counter was complaining about a customer. I love this place. We go every time we are in the area. The store is tiny, and sits right in the middle of picturesque Warren, VT. The Pitcher Inn, a luxury Relais & Chateaux property is directly across the road. There is a little stream that runs across the back of the store. It takes you back in time when general stores where plentiful. The staff is nice, and it's a great place to visit. We love the deli & bakery. They have wonderful sandwiches. You have to get something with cheddar because it's so tasty! Try their cookies, the maple walnut is my favorite. You have to drop by if you are in the area. We were on a beer mission so we picked up some Lawson's Finest Sip of Sunshine (limit 3 bottles) and some Heady Topper (limit 2 4-packs). I had called ahead and the guy who answered was very helpful. The Warren Store is another gem known to the locals and to some passing tourists. It's nestled between deep woods and a waterfall on a little highway in Vermont. The deli is fully stocked, the vintage soda coolers are great atmosphere but also functional, and the wine selection is better than I would have expected for a cutesy vermonty roadside deli. In the summer, sit on the porch, get a snack, and enjoy the scenery. read more

Long time customer of the Warren Store. Even when I moved across the country I HAVE to stop in and get a #6 with cheddar and pickles whenever I'm home in VT. The ritual really seems to "bring me home." Since I've been purchasing sandwiches here for over a decade I can tell you that the prices have gone up, but it's a treat for me when I visit. The prosciutto stuffed peppers are a great accompaniment to the purchase of a ice tea and a sandwich. I love their bread here and sitting over the water isn't bad either. Since moving away from the valley I've only found one other store like this place in my life, and it's called the Dry Creek General Store up in Sonoma, CA. It's nice to know rural VT hosts such good food that's it's on par with wine country :) read more

Fun and fabulous. We were staying at The Pitcher Inn and made it over to The Warren Store each day and seemed to come back with a load of stuff each day. Great selection and a great staff. If only Woolrich would start making the Hemlock shirt again! . . . I bought one at The Warren Store. . . loved it and tried to buy a couple more. Alas, they have stopped making them. I've been shopping/eating at the Warren Store for years. Forgot to Yelp it I guess until now! This place is thoroughly Vermont, it's unique, it's set in an old farmhouse with creaky wooden floors, a wood stove right in the middle, and they sell all kinds of interesting foods and beverages. For those who haven't been here in a few years, they have improved their beer and ciders, and their wines are as always, interestingly chosen. I swear, they pick some of the wines just because they have weird names! They make sandwiches to order, they bake their own bread, cookies and pastries. They have a good selection of pasta dishes and other luncheon salads, meat loaf, all in the cold case. They have a few tables inside and also outside (which you can actually sit at during the six weeks of warm weather each year in Vermont, ha ha). There is a clothing/knick knack shop upstairs too which has a lot of unique things and clothing made by designers who do not sell to the masses. Ultimately, the store reflects its owner's funky, offbeat personality. It is even reflected in some of the employees. Some have worked here for years. This is a must see in the Sugarbush area. A quick lunch spot that has above average deli sandwiches. They have a tasty bacon sandwich called the A.B.L.T. which I ate and can recommend. My wife got the pesto veggie sandwich and she recommends it. Chances are bad that you'll find a seat inside. It's winter now so we ate in our car. You could find a place to sit outside in the summer. I would bring someone here for lunch than dinner at Common Man. read more

This was a iconic store for me in Vermont. In the last few months I think new owners must of bought it that obviously aren't from the valley. Been in a few times and was greeted by a not so friendly woman each time. Prices are higher then ever and there is no welcoming feeling to this store anymore. I'll never step there again! read more

I've been coming to the Warren Store for over thirty years and have always had a fondness for their sandwiches, old time candies and beer selection. After getting a sandwich today, it's clear the staff behind the counter need some training on customer service. While waiting patiently to place my order I was told by two staff members who weren't doing anything that someone else was responsible for taking orders. The person taking orders was finally available and hastily scribbled down my order while half listening. He inevitably mixed up my order and offered no apologies, only the accusation I had ordered something else. When I thought he had redone my sandwich, I mistakenly grabbed another customer's sandwich and was cynically asked whether I had a female's name. When you're selling 9 dollar sandwiches, they should come with appreciation and a smile. The quaint spirit the store had in the past seems to be fading. read more

The Warren Store offers much more than just sandwiches. The baked goods are the very best in the Valley. Get there early when they come right out of the baker's oven and you will be rewarded by the best in all of Vermont. Yes, even better than Red Hen which is also heavenly Devine. My most "fave" salad or sandwich filling is the curried chicken. I always get a cup of the perfect brewed coffee - hot, flavorful, and aroma perfect. For a cold drink, any of the boutique ginger beers are spicy and will blow your mind. Outside eating by the bubbly falls is certainly a treat. All their soups are superb, especially the leek. Really a nifty place for lunch and even better for an early breakfast Frenchie style with hot pastry and coffee. read more

This country store and deli is in the small village of Warren, which closely loops off scenic Route 100. They deli staff is efficient even when busy...offering a nice choice of sandwiches and salads...which are prepared with little wait. There is seating indoors, but we opted to share one of the picnic tables outside by the small waterfall and river. This was a very pleasant patio area! Our sandwiches were delicious and The Warren Store was a wonderful lunch stop while viewing fall foliage along one of the most scenic routes in all of New England. read more

I've visited Warren for about ten years now and the Warren Store is always the first place on my mind and first place I stop. They have a nice selection of snacks, drinks, and deli sandwiches in the back. In the winter they have a wood stove burning in the middle of the room. You need to stop by this place. read more

The Warren store is an institution. Located in Warren Village it is everything you would want in a general store in the middle of Vermont. Surrounding the property is the mad river you can watch it as you eat outside on the large deck. When you walk into the Worden store you will see well worn wooden floor boards, some candies /snacks ...and a small seating area. Also they have very fresh very good baked goods walking towards the back there are artesianal cheeses local beers and a order counter where you can get very good breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches as well as a couple other sides. It can get very busy here no matter what time of year it is there is nothing better within a 10 mile radius of this place I would drive an hour to get here if I was in the area. They do have on certain days heady topper which is very hard to get but there is absolutely no guarantee you will get it. Upstairs there's also a very cute boutique with local jewelry and some clothing I would say go check it out maybe you'll find a gift. This may be my favorite place in Vermont. This little store has consistently great quality food, and hosts the best 4th of July celebration on the planet... despite the rain. So we came here with a very specific purpose- to buy some Lawson's Finest Beer. Unfortunately, they were all sold out, so we didnt actually buy anything here, but we did browse around, I was very impressed with their selection. Lots of local, organic products, everything from soap to meat, and a great beer and wine selection, with all kinds of local craft varieties. Prices were a little steap, but because of the quality of ingredients and the middle of nowhere location, that is definitely to be expected. They also sell prepared food at the deli, and have a small area to sit and eat- which is a nice touch. read more

Two words: Lawson's Finest. The Warren Store sells this local craft brew along with other less exotic beers. If you're lucky, they have some in stock. Cute, a little out of the way, but worth it. They have a delicious bakery section and a cafe that looks like it serves some seriously good eats. Their outdoor seating looks out over a river and the staff is happy to point you towards nearby attractions (in our case, Mad River waterfalls, 3 miles away down the 100). They manage to offer a ton of local food and craft items without being over the top. THE ATMOSPHERE IS COUNTRY STORE RUSTIC / CLEAN & CHARMING In the kitchen, order counter, first look at the big poster board for the daily specials. All of the salad and sandwich specials are winners. My most fave sandwich is the chicken curry. You can ask them to heat the curry on the grill and serve on a grilled English muffin. The chicken curry is also great on a leaf lettuce salad. Please go early and they open at 8 AM. The early bird gets fresh, sometimes hot out of the bake oven, scones, muffins, croissants, and other goodies. All the baked goods are first class. If you want to carry something home, then get a fruit bar. Strawberry and raspberry fruit bars travel well and can last for a day or two, so take some home. Please go back to breakfast at 8 AM. Get your breakfast sandwich on a toasted English muffins or homemade biscuit. Fresh local eggs and local cheddar cheeses complimented by local bacon are awesome. The morning selections will have you coming back many times for nifty breakfast sandwiches. Enjoy them outside by the water falls and the roaring brook. read more

It was a pretty good sandwich but the main draw is the Vermont-y vibe this place on Main St has.
