Early dinner in this restaurant that was warm and welcoming. I'm not sure why but it was the roasted veggie plate that really caught my eye this evening and I'm glad I did it. I had a full platter of deliciousness! Grilled sweet potato, braised eggplant (they call them aubergine here), brown rice and cucumber salad. While walking to the Botanical Gardens, we decided to grab a bite before our tour. We walked to the closest pub, and were told that they don't do food. This seemed like a strange concept, on a weekend, around lunch time, but we pulled out our phone, and found The Washerwoman. A truly excellent place, with the feel of a small pub/restaurant, excellent service, interesting menu, and delicious food. We decided that it would be a good place to get sticky toffee pudding, and it was! Can't wait to come back here again. read more

Lovely dinner in this cozy spot! Visited the Botanical Garden and walked over here with my family- it's about 10-15 minutes. We shared the antipasto appetizer and I had the roast chicken for my main dish- all excellent. They have a nice drinks and wine selection too. Enjoyed it very much! (Bias review) It's not a five star restaurant, but it's one of the best I've been at and therefore I want to give it highest rating among them. Food is nearly excellent. I could nitpick there and here, but I don't think there's a restaurant that would satisfy everyone's taste equally. Service is always a pleasant experience here. Food is 7-8/10 for me. They serve cocktails, but I'd like to warn that this is not a bar and cocktails might differ from what they should actually taste. Also said that, im no cocktail expert and did not taste many of their drinks. So that statement is not very strong. Expect toddlers in this restaurant as many parents bringing their kids for the dinner. Including me. Very family friendly with many highchairs and great kids menu. On street parking. Pleasant, dimmed, somewhat romantic atmosphere. Actual rating is 4 stars, sorry for over rating, but they deserve it IMHO. read more

10/10 for the washer woman's. I was here twice. Once for dinner with my partners mum and since she was so happy with our meal and service she picked here to for her 60th birthday dinner party. The service was unbelievable and the food was perfect at the birthday, we'll both times. There was about 20 of us and they seated us upstairs on a lovely big long table, we had the whole up stairs to ourselves which was really nice. For such a big group they did a wonderful job. FOOODS Chicken wing (proper hot sauce)- give me all of them. Crab starter was oh so yum. Chef special steak.. So good! Brownie with peanut butter icecream.... Can I say any more?? Friends had a vegetarian Squash dish that was unbelievable. Basically everything is good in the washer woman's. It's run well. The food is good. Service is to match. They have a great selection of wine.. Ranging from low to very high prices depending of your preference. They're early bird menu is very good. 24€ or so.. Can't wait to come back :) read more

To date, my pick for Dublins best eggs benedict. We couldn't believe we both mopped up our huge portions in less than fifteen minutes! A testament to their tastiness. Looking for a place a little outside of the busiest part of Dublin -this a great find. The Washer Wings were delicious. Perfect mix of crispy and Buffalo. Burger was perfectly done. Definitely a place to recommend, a quaint roadside spot worth the stop. read more

I had heard a lot of great stuff about this place so my expectations going in were already high! It was lunchtime so we ordered a portion of nachos and a portion of chicken wings to share between 2. Nachos were hands down the best I have EVER tasted. Wild boar chilli, really good tortilla chips, corn and tomato salsa and a very decent amount of guacamole. €15 was pretty pricey though, IMO. Chicken wings were also really good but the blue cheese dip was a tad too on the watery side for me. Overall a really good lunch and I'm looking forward to going back! read more

I live locally so when the owners of the Winding stair (one of my favourite restaurants) took over this spot I was delighted. The food is really good albeit a little expensive for a neighbourhood spot but the menu just doesn't do it for me. (Personal preference I suppose as I said nothing wrong with the food) If your in the Glasnevin/Drumcondra/Phibsboro you cannot go wrong. read more

I went there on a Saturday. We wondered how busy it would be as it had just been open a week. It was full. Throughout our meal, they had to turn away a lot of disappointed people who had not made a booking. Make sure to book! I ordered the Pat McLoughlin's burger with all the trimmings. Delicious! My burger arrived, stacked high and skewered to keep in all the delicious bits- cheese, bacon, gherkin. The chips came with a pleasing chipotle mayo. I would buy a bottle of that sauce. My partner got the soup of the day: cherry tomato and basil. Usually I think tomato soup is a bit meh, but wow, this one was good! It had a super strong tomato smell. The staff are very attentive and are very helpful to coeliac diners. They have gluten free burger buns and bread. ************ I have since been back a 3 times and had the wild boar nachos, buffalo chicken wings, fish finger sandwich and white chocolate and raspberry brownie. Next on my list is one of their many steaks. I reccommend going for lunch or brunch after a trip to the National Botanic Gardens. read more

This is the same crowd that own the Winding Stair and the Woolen Mills restaurants in the city centre, and it's great to see them spread their wings north of the Liffey, spotting as surprisingly few restaurateurs do the large gap in the market in this area for quality eating places. Interesting to see that they kept the name of the original restaurant that long stood on this spot, it's a nice sense of continuity. This crowd have long proven their stripes in the business, specialising in quality ingredients with emphasis on local provenance, giving an Irish twist to classic combinations, and the Washerwoman is a solid experience all round. The lime-washed wood and slightly beachy feel of the decor lends a simple and clean feel to affairs, the dinner menu is bistro style with trusted burger/steak options, a delicious sounding vegetarian option involving potato cake, cheese, spinach and oyster mushroom - I'll be trying that when I'm really hungry - and pasta and fish options. Crab cake starter, spicy, can be had as a main course and it is absolutely delicious. Burger got the serious thumbs up, the only issue being how you eat something that tall. Bread and butter pudding was everything it should be - caramelly sweet, fresh, somehow not too stodgy (I'm not suggesting you ballet dance out of the place, but it has the deceptive taste of light at first bite, somehow, given that it's stodge and fat combined with sugar), entirely satisfying. I think the Washerwoman is going to thrive in these parts, offering a decent eating choice for small or large parties in a large catchment area of few restaurants. It's not super cheap (18 euros for main course portion crab cakes, around 20/21 for veggie main). Though casual, there's something of a sense of a occasion and service was excellent. The website suggests there are numerous eating experiences on offer -breakfast, lunch, dinner (early bird 5-7), brunch on weekends, cafe option between 4-5 (I think) which feels a little fussy - for me either a place offers a cup of coffee or it doesn't. I also understand from friends it's possible to have a glass of wine and share platter for instance of veggie dips etc, which sounds really nice. Great little restaurant in Glasnevin serving good food! Love the details in the decor, our bill came out on a clothes peg! Had crab for starter and the burger for main, friends had the Caesar salad, chicken wings and sweet potato fries and they were all tasty and filling!
