The views from the arena are a stunning backdrop for any bride and groom wanting have an outdoor ceremony. Inside the barn there are three defined spaces. The foyer with its high ceilings and comfy furniture welcoming you inside. This is also where the restrooms are located. They have two newly constructed restrooms with multiple stalls in addition to the two original ones. The venue provides tables and chairs and table coverings for your event. There's a built in rustic bar in the corner of the main event space where clients can have a hired bartender serving drinks of their choice. The facilities are set up for a catering company to bring in the food of the clients choice or your band/DJ to unload easily with large rolling door access on either end of the barn. I visited in February so the trees were bare but I can only imagine how gorgeous the space looks in the spring, summer and fall. We were told they host smaller meetings there being able to block off spaces for a more intimate feel or can seat up to 1500 utilizing the whole space.

It was a bit busy so we expected a slight delay on drinks/food, but our server kept checking on us every few minutes and kept our drinks full. The atmosphere/design is very unique and offers great talking points for the table. You can look around and always find something new you haven't seen before. For food, I got the French dip, my husband got the fried catfish, and mom got the smash burger. Food was EXCELLENT. The au jus from the French dip was not overly salty as I've had in the past, and it was the perfect amount for the sandwich. Not like other places that will either give you a big tub of au jus or ever a small saucer cup. After lunch, we walked around as they have a shopping area inside with soaps, handmade pottery/kitchenware, and local vendor products such as hatch chile cream cheese and pickled vegetables. Price was very favorable too and didn't seem to be overly priced where the business/vendor up charges significantly to make a huge profit. Definitely worth stopping by even if you only have time for Togo coffee, a snack, of just to shop around!

There was ample seating outside the checkout area; about half the seats and tables were under a covered, very large screened porch, the other half is out in the sun with large umbrellas to provide shade. The vineyard itself is small but the view is pretty and the wine we had was very good. The staff were all helpful and friendly. They have one bathroom available to customers but it was very clean, well-stocked with supplies, and the water was hot with good pressure (which is important for hand cleanliness). This trip was a 5 hour drive from where we live, so if we come back again, it would be for another family reunion. But, if you're local or a short drive away, it's definitely worth checking it out.

I was there on a Saturday and they had local musicians playing some of the old Appalachian music outside in a little covered area, sponsored by the BLM I am assuming. High Country Lights - Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist AirCare brings Santa Claus for a visit!

But the amazing part is this: Unlike every other light show you know if, this one is free! This is my first year attending, and we were lucky enough to come on the night that Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist AirCare flew in Santa Claus for a visit. That was a huge spectacle and it was really something listening to a huge crowd of children gasp with awe as they saw the aircraft land and Santa emerge. The light show itself is bright, synchronized with broadcasted music, and not hard to access. Traffic wasn't bad even on the weekend after Thanksgiving, and there was parking and bathrooms. There were also food trucks and multiple vendors and booths you could visit. I really appreciated that this was a walking event, not a "sit in your car for 2 hours" event like some of the bigger (and expensive) holiday light shows. The layout was a bit unclear, and I wasn't sure if this was a drive-through, a "park and watch", or a walking event at first. The best I could gather, it was a "park and watch" with music being broadcast over FM radio, then we got out and visited some of the various other things to see like the fire and EMS vehicles, Santa's workshop, and an ornament making station. It's not the most extravagant show you'll ever see, but I've got to say that I love the story behind it, and you can't beat a free Christmas light show. We're adding this one to the holiday traditions!

My wife and I spent a long time shopping venues on assorted websites, and we must have toured well over a dozen before we walked into Winter Wood Farm. Let me tell you this - We had that "Wowww" (in Owen Wilson voice) moment as soon as we walked onto the property. Every other venue we looked at was "pretty good" and we could make a list of pros and cons for them, but we absolutely, unequivocally, undoubtedly knew that Winter Wood Farm was the place we wanted to start our marriage from our first tour. This is a family owned venue, and without listing names, I'll say every member of the family we interacted with was absolutely amazing. They were quick to answer questions, there for us when we needed suggestions and ideas, and eager to do anything necessary to make sure our day was magical. For the first-time wedding crowd (and my ONLY wedding, let's be clear!), they were wonderful in helping with checklists, suggested timelines, and asking questions we would have never even thought of. The venue itself is absolutely STUNNING. We got married in October and it really was a dream wedding. The colors were perfect, the weather turned out amazing, and it was all beautiful. The staff at Winter Wood did an amazing and seamless job when it came to arranging things like chairs, tables, and the arbor, being set up exactly as we asked. Clean up expectations were reasonable. Compared to many other venues we toured, they were very reasonable when it came to expectations from the bride and groom. One thing I specifically disliked at other venues was how many of them have multiple security cameras inside (and more than one told us "we'll be watching the cameras all night." How uncomfortable!) I'm all for security for your business, but this is also a very personal event and I don't want to be in someone's home movie. I was happy to see Winter Wood did not have a ton of cameras, and instead chose to have a staff member present on site at all times (which was great for everything from coordinating vendors to our random last minute questions!) You can certainly call me biased since this is where I got married, but I would absolutely not hesitate to recommend others seek this as a wedding venue. The experience between not only the location and the design of the venue but more importantly the wonderful staff who run it made this a perfect experience!
