I was having a problem with very high DWP bills for many months and DWP suggested the Flume smart monitor to see if anything was leaking. Although this monitor kept reading so many gallons per hour of a leak, gardener and former plumber told me I didn't have a leak! I got so frustrated, I called Waterboy and Will arrived and discovered an area in my sprinkler system where his sonar device was reading very high. I noticed the sound of water in our pipes, even though all the fixtures were off. The following day it was confirmed by a notification from the city of excess water use and a leak likely at my property. Over the phone, my regular plumber walked me through identifying where it might be coming from. We ultimately isolated it to the backyard line feeding my garage from the house. Rather than dig all over the place for the problem, my plumber suggested I hire a "leak detection" service, with non-invasive equipment he didn't carry. His recommendation wasn't available until the following afternoon, so I called The Waterboys. They answered right away, were super-nice on the phone and were able to come out first thing in the morning. Shlomi, the tech, arrived promptly. He didn't hesitate to get right to work. He was very personable, and explained things as he went. He photographed everything during the process, suited up and identified my lines in the crawl space to be sure what was feeding the backyard, and then went to work tracing the pipes in my yard. He identified a set of galvanized pipes and separate main PVC feeding my sprinkler valves. He mapped the metal pipes, but their equipment can not identify the PVC path, just if it was leaking. It wasn't. He proceeded to dig up a small section of my yard identifying the leak in my cold galvanized line feeding my garage. The only thing I wish they did was carry small flags for marking lines in the earth. I mean, in addition to marking a leak location, they map out line paths. It should be part of their kit. Shlomi had nothing to mark the path of the pipes he was identifying. We started improvising, and then I remembered I had a handful of small 4th of July flags around, which worked perfectly. I almost docked a star for this, but they were SO good otherwise, we'll just chalk it up to constructive criticism. In the future, I hope they make an investment in some marking flags and carry some painters tape for marking interiors and hard exterior surfaces. It would make an already tight operation even tighter! (UPDATE: Within 3 days of posting this Shlomi texted me they now had custom flags in their kit!) The whole process took about 1hr and 45 mins. It turned out that the valve that fills our hot tub is hard to close and when not closed well it slowly leaks water into the tub and then goes out through the overflow. We hired The Waterboy Leak detection in hopes of finding a leak in the exterior of a home that was coming from a planter. We would empty the planter and it would constantly fill up and stay stagnant at the same level. It was unclear where the leak was coming from, even after we dug through the planter. Wow wow wow!!! Just bought a new house, and have been having a bunch of things go wrong on me. Had issues with the hot water heater, and when we got that fixed, all of a sudden, the floors in the living room start feeling warm in various spots. My worst fear...a slab leak. Needed to know right away, and looked around, and called Waterboy Leak, based on reviews here on Yelp. They dispatched someone same day and did a thorough check, including thermal scans and looking through all the plumbing fixtures to check if there was a leak, and/or where it would be. After all this, they found no leaks, and found that the water pipes for the hot water were laid close to the slab, and might be warming up the concrete. My worst fears were laid to rest.
