Finally tried out Mnimes Restaurant & Bar for a weekday dinner. They're in the same plaza as Thai Son Restaurant and Prinkle Chicken. Menu is a simple one pager with a couple of chalkboard specials. Entrees are $21.00 to $46.00. Service was very friendly and hospitable. - Greek salad ($19.00) - simple - Kalamari ($18.00) - beet garlic dip was tasty. Calamari was excellent - Lamb chops ($24.00 for 2) - plenty of lemon potatoes. Chops (requested medium) were perfect - Mousaka ($21.00) - homey bechamel sauce - Roasted lamb shoulder ($31.00) - opted for the rice pilaf. Lamb shoulder was huge, tender - Seafood spaghetti ($29.00) - al dente. Good portion with prawns, octopus and calamari - Flourless chocolate cake ($17.00) - coconut sorbet scoop was refreshing. Small slice but tasty - Loukoumades - fresh, doughy donuts Great portions at Mnimes. Will be back to try more. read more

I have seen a lot of good reviews about this place and convinced our party of 8 to come try it since it's in our neighborhood and we have been looking for a new local Greek restaurant since Panos on Marine Drive closed down. Sadly, we were sooooo disappointed! We came on a Saturday evening at peak time, around 6:30pm, so granted, we expected it to be busy. We were sat nearly right away in comfortable booths with tables. The waitress brought us menus and water. So far so good! We ordered our food, nothing crazy, several got the special of the night, lamb souvlaki with potatoes rice and pita. A couple ordered the seafood pasta, one asked for red sauce instead of cream sauce and two asked for veggie lasagna's but they only had one order available. When we asked about the beers on menu, we were told each one was unavailable except for Heineken and the seasonal beer. When we asked what it was, she didn't know. She then brought the can of beer over and said she wasn't sure what type it was. Fair enough! She was young, seemed new and not quite trained with alcohol so no big deal. It gave us a giggle. It was a Granville Island radler btw. I ordered a Heineken and my friend ordered the yummy sounding spicy passionfruit margarita. My beer came fairly quick but no margarita. Then the young waitress came out to say that our food would take a bit longer to come out since they were a bit slammed with orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We decided we'd be ok, and decided to wait. One hour later!!!!! I'm not joking, one hour later, the margarita drink came out. Again, we noticed very young and probably newly hired staff attempting to make drinks. When this $19 drink came out, it looked like the rim of salt was touched with fingers and a lot of it was missing. However, my friend desperate for a drink or morsel of anything, decided to just have it as it came. She said it was delicious and the best thing she had. One hour and a half later!!! Our food came out. My medium rare lamb was cooked through and the pasta with red sauce came out with a cream sauce, but there was NO way we were going to send anything back as we were pretty hangry at this point. The potatoes were delicious, the rice extremely plain. All 8 of us agreed that for the price, service and quality of food, we would not be returning, although my friend said if the passionfruit drink was on the happy hour menu, she would consider it. We made reservations for this restaurant after seeing a post on Insta and seeing that it had a great Google rating. The restaurant has a good sized space. They played top 40 music. Theres some cool decor and 2 TVs. I asked the waitstaff for their recommendation for the sweetest drink, and they recommended the Aphrodite. The wait staff who served us ended up being the bartender and my drink was made to my liking. A definite 5/5. I was excited to see Taramosalata and grilled octopus on the menu ordered them. The taramosalata tasted amazing! Tasty, perfectly salted and light 5/5! The grilled octopus came as 2 super skinny legs: 1 leg was a bit too charcoaled and the other one was OK. I cut and dip it into the olive oil and vinegar sauce it came with, and that made it much better 3/5. We also ordered the Loukaniko sausage, which came piping hot. It tasted better with the mustard 3/5. Finally, we ordered their special for the evening, the lamb sirloin souvlaki dinner. This dish came with roasted potatoes, rice pilaf and pita bread. The roasted potatoes were delicious; the lamb souvlaki (med rare) was tender; the rice was a bit bland; and the extra pita was helpful to finish my taramosalata. Bad service. The staff did not appear to be properly trained, which led to a frustrating experience. The owner was present but seemed disengaged and did not provide any guidance or direction to the staff. Been missing Greek food after our honeymoon a month ago and was delighted to find Mnimes. The Moussaka was great. We've had their loukoumades twice, once as takeout and once at the restaurant. It was pretty good as takeout but so good eating it immediately at the restaurant. Also tried their lamb shoulder. I'm chasing the high of this one leg of lamb we had in Athens, and this one wasn't bad at all (my husband loved it)! But I usually am not one for lamb. Still was good though! I took out here again on my way back to Seattle from Vancouver. I ordered Taramosalata: Fish roe dip, Fava Caramelized Onions dip w pita, Chicken Rice Bowl : Greek style marinated boneless chicken thighs with lemon rice pilaf, and Mousaka. My hubby and I liked Taramosalata dip. It was a fish egg dip, but it had a flavorful and addictive taste. The mousaka here is really delicious. The staff is very pleasant in the nice place. My mom told me about this place and she raved about their complimentary bread, so after looking it up online, I decided to visit for lunch as their lunch menu is pretty affordable, and went back again a second time for lunch to try the rest of their menu. The complimentary bread and spicy feta dip to start was a tasty start to the meal. The first time for lunch, we ordered the Manos burger ($19) and Kalamari pita wrap ($14) and added a side of Greek salad ($5). The Manos burger is lamb and was pretty delicious. The Kalamari pita had a generous amount of kalamari and tzatziki. Both were super filling. The side Greek salad is also a pretty generous portion for $5. The second time for lunch, we ordered the chicken pita wrap ($14) and pork pita wrap ($14). Both of these were pretty good, and I think I liked the chicken wrap slightly more. All of their lunch portions are generous, filling, and the items are reasonably priced. The fries are crispy and very fresh. I think they do take out for lunch at a slightly lower price, too. I was pretty thirsty after having lunch there, although the food itself didn't taste overly salty. Service is very attentive and friendly. Both times I've been for lunch, there were barely any other customers and that was on different weekends. Some parking is available in the lot in front of the restaurant, and on the street. Never heard of this restaurant before but saw it on Google Maps and it was fairly close to somewhere else that we needed to be later in the evening, and had a pretty good rating. Plus...always happy to have Greek food as we don't eat it that often! My husband and I love Taramosalata. It's a fish roe dip and we always look for it on the menu of any Greek restaurant. Well guess what? We were given several pieces of sourdough bread along with a small serving of Taramosalata, and it was complimentary! This was the first time we had ever been given a complimentary serving of Taramosalata! Not sure how long this restaurant has been here. We do remember coming to this space when it was a different restaurant, sometime during the pandemic, so...this restaurant has possibly not been around that long and maybe they're trying to win people over with the complimentary Taramosalata? Whatever the reason...I hope the complimentary Taramosalata is something they will continue to do every time! As for the food we actually ordered, we had the following on our table: Fava with Caramelized Onions Dip Manos Patates (lemon roasted potatoes) Beet & Goat Cheese Veg salad Spanakopita Lamb Chops Roasted Lamb Shoulder The Fava dip was under a section labelled as Manos Signature Dips. The dips read as follows, " Tzatziki, Tirokafteri, Fava with Caramelized Onions, Taramosalata, Melitzan." At the side, the price of $11 is written. We ordered the "Manos Signature Dips" and were under the impression that it was some sort of dip sampling platter. We thought that for $11 we would be getting a small portion of each type of dip. We didn't realize that we were only supposed to choose one dip for $11. For me personally, the Fava with Caramelized Onions dip was one of the dips I was most interested in trying, so...it wasn't a huge problem for me to be brought that one dip out of all the dips they offer in their restaurant. However, when we placed our order for the "Manos Signature Dip", we never heard our server ask, "Which of the dips would you like to have?" So...not sure how our server got the impression that we wanted just the Fava bean dip. We feel that communication is somewhat lacking at this restaurant. I was quite impressed with the flakiness of the Spanakopita. It was just a tad bit saltier than I'd have like it to be though. Otherwise, it was very good. The lemon roasted potatoes were awesome! I could probably go through two entire side orders of lemon roasted potatoes and that could be my dinner! The meat eaters raved about the lamb chops. They said the lamb shoulder was just OK but the lamb chops were incredible. A bit annoyed with the lack of communication regarding the Manos Signature Dips. we met up for dinner with another couple on a friday night at 6:30 pm at mnimes restaurant and bar, which is tucked inside an unassuming strip mall at 6495 victoria drive. there's parking available at the mall as well as nearby street parking. apparently, they've been opened for a year now and they've won gold in 2023 for authentic greek cuisine by an organization called greek taste beyond borders. this isn't your standard blue and white greek restaurant; in fact, when you step in, it doesn't immediately scream greek. the decor is more subdued, with hints of greek influence, dim lighting, hummus-coloured walls, bistro tables and tufted, dark forest green booths. it wasn't very busy inside, and we were able to carry on a conversation without having to compete with any other noise. the servers were attentive, giving us time to review the menu, make recommendations, and top up our waters without asking. we ordered our drinks and learned they were out of crab cakes. we had the following: kalamari: lightly deep fried, golden, and crispy. prawn saganaki: ouzo, tomato sauce, and feta, this dish was a highlight. chicken boutakia: greek style marinated boneless chicken thighs with a black eyed bean salad. the chicken was flavourful, and the beans were had a good texture, it was a nice touch. spanakopita: spinach, feta, yogurt, and dill, filled with layers of phyllo pastry. surprisingly crispy, especially considering we ate this dish near the end of our meal. arni psito: roast lamb shank (14-18 oz) with lemon potatoes. the meat was tender, but i felt it was a little underwhelming. broccolini: chargrilled with evoo and lemon. lamb chops (2 minimum order): seasoned well and grilled to perfection, also accompanied with black eyed beans, it was one of my favourite dishes of the evening. seafood spaghetti: prawns, calamari, with a choice of white or red sauce. our server recommended the red sauce, and it was a good choice. we ordered a lot of food, and our table wasn't big enough to accommodate everything. our food came almost all at once after the calamari and should have been paced better; it almost felt like we were being rushed. despite the pace of the food, we did enjoy our time and stayed for over three hours catching up. read more

Had a heartwarming experience for our family gathering last evening. Tastefully furnished dining room and ambiance; thoughtfully prepared dishes; courteous and kind service. The meal began with unexpected complimentary sourdough, warm and fresh! Our table shared a light and tender plate of kalamari. I had the lamb chops, which were cooked spot on, accompanied by delicious potatoes. I had samplings of other plates: mousaka, pastitsio, crispy pork belly, manos meatballs. All this comfort food was served in generous portions with imbibed flavours. Also the Ananas Refresher was, yes, refreshing. We finished with a bowl of loukoumades, perfectly done, warm and crispy, with just the right amount of honey. It was late in the day but I had to try the Greek coffee. I am glad I did; it paired so well with the dessert! It was a soothing combination. I can't say enough about our servers, Ava and Mateo. Warm smiles, right from our initial entrance to our farewell. They were so attentive and thoughtful, with questions (like "...any allergies?") and careful explanations of the food. They truly made our dining experience more than wonderful. Fantastic Greek place that feels like it's got a hint of Italian cuisine with specials such as pastitsio. Can't go wrong with anything here but I'd highly recommend their kalamari / octopus dishes. We got: - Tiganites Patates (fries with feta on top, $8) - Saganaki (Pan fried kefalograviera cheese, $12) - Kalamari ($15) - Loukaniko (House made pork - fennel sausage, $12) - Manos Biftekia (beef meatballs, $13) - Thalia (Cabernet Sauvignon - Agiorgitiko, $5) The Saganaki (pan fried cheese) and Loukaniko (pork fennel sausage) were both really delicious, and it was something new that we had never tried before! The highlight was the Kalamari, it was so crispy and fresh, it came with a beet garlic dip which was super enjoyable, but wish it also came with tzatziki sauce. We found the Manos Biftekia a little too dry. The ambiance was lovely, the interior was beautifully decorated, and much more spacious than it looks on the outside! I think the happy hour menu is super value, especially $5 for a glass of red wine! I like their mousakka and ordered it quite often although I already found it being on the pricier side. Today I ordered again after some time and noticed they have downsized the dish a lot! Like there was literally 2 slices of potato 1 slice of zucchini and I am not sure if I got a chance to have eggplant in it at all. Its very expensive for the portion now. I am very sad to see this. Me and a couple of friends came on a Friday evening. We had a reservation and was definitely needed. The restaurant was ambient and would be great for a dinner date. We ordered several dishes to share. A tzatiki dip, meatballs, mousaka, Greek salad, and Hilopites Moshari. Everything we tried was yummy, I enjoyed the Hilopites and Mousaka. The meatballs and Greek salad were pretty typical, but done well. The other thing that stood out to me was deep-fried pita bread which was addicting. Also, had a cocktail which was well balanced. There was an unexpected issue with their credit card machine that evening. I appreciated how the staff was accommodating with how we paid for our bill. Overall, friendly and attentive service. The restaurant was well decorated and dimly lit with a sophisticated ambience. It seemed fitting for a date. I'd come back again for sure. read more

We booked the entire restaurant for a birthday party for our 50 guests. The restaurant is modern with charming Greek elements and a spacious dance floor in the centre. It was perfect for our event. Manos, the chef and owner of the restaurant and his staff did a fantastic job! He created a menu that provided us with a feast of 11 courses plus cake. Every course, from the appetizers to the mains and the birthday cake, was excellent! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food, and no one left hungry. All our guests were extremely impressed with the restaurant. A solid 3.5 star. I ordered dinner takeout yesterday, the staff took my order and credit card number. Didn't ask me for my name and cell phone number until I initiated to tell him. He also didn't ask for my CVD number, and had to call me during my dinner time to obtain that. I ordered the watermelon salad, beets salad, moussaka, egg noodle with braised beef and lamb shank. The salad was decent but nothing blew my mind. The lamb shank was a little hard and dry, moussaka was not bad but I've had better at Nammos, the egg noodle with braised beef was our favorite dish. Perhaps given the 4.9 out of 5 google reviews, I had really high expectations. While their meals are decent for takeout, it certainly did not knock my socks off. read more

This recently opened Greek restaurant makes a nice addition to the neighborhood. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating that can accommodate larger groups. It is bright, modern, and clean. Service was slow, but attentive. The food was delicious. They offered items not usually found in typical Greek restaurant menus. The meat was falling off the bone for the lamb shank. The beef brisket pasta and lamb chops are a must try! It is good for casual dining and for celebrations. They accept credit card for payment. God atmosphere, servers were great took a bit of time getting a menu but was early on the evening maybe they were just getting warmed up. Food was extremely tasty and well prepared, everything looked fresh. Greek salad was lacking a little salt, commercial tomatoes just don't have the flavour it needs. Went for a birthday here for a second year in a row because the food is delicious. The restaurant was bustling with patrons and even though they were busy they were still attentive and gave friendly helpful service. The decor was modern and classy. And to be totally honest Greek food isn't normally my go to choice of cuisine but the Greek food at Mnimes I make the exception for because every dish is so flavourful, fresh, good size portions leave you satisfied. Celebrated my birthday here with another couple and we were all impressed! The food was was fabulous! We started with a house salad and an order of calamari. Then shared a platter for four which had lamb chops, chicken, house made sausage, meatballs , absolutely wonderful potatoes etc etc. We were all taken by the quality of the food. While the website says the chef is focused on providing the finest quality traditional Greek cuisine, we all felt it had a certain "burst of flavour" that set it apart from other Greek restaurants. A bit hard to describe but definitely a noticeable quality in the food. We tried a bottle of Techni Alipias, a surprisingly good Greek Cabernet Sauvignon and finished with a "shaken" ouzo and an espresso. My wife brought a birthday cake so we didn't try any of the sweets but they did look delicious, as did much of the other food that passed by our table. The restaurant decor is beautiful...modern but very comfortable. Great ambiance....lively as a Greek restaurant should be, but still subdued. This is a new restaurant opened in a time where the business is challenging, but I think Mnimes has all the elements for long term success. Highly recommended! read more

Having frequented the restaurant that was previously in this space, we were curiousabout the new business that took over the location in the spring We did not seek out any reviews and finally decided to go for lunch last weekend. This new restaurant, Mnimes (meaning 'memories' in Greek) was a delightful surprise. Welcoming and quaint, we were transported to Greece with the subtle yet effective design of the entryway. On this lunch visit we opted for some share plates. Noticing unique items Zucchini Chips and Beet Salad, not often found on the 'usual' Greek restaurant menu, we opted for those. Also ordering a classic Moussaka as our main. The chips were delicious! Thin, crispy, they are a great alternative to potatoes or even calamari. The Beet salad was rich and earthy, serve with a citris gelee and whipped feta that complimented perfectly. The Moussaka was classic and yet elevated. Perfectly balanced flavours. We complimented the chef and was pleased that he came out and had a wonderful conversation with him. He shared his story and background and we can to an understanding why there was so much passion in the food and in the restaurant atmosphere. We rounded off our lunch with the dessert special which was oh so delicious. If ever you find youself in the area, do drop in and try Mnines, you'll definitely have wonderful memories of your experience. read more

So ... we just checked out Mnimes Restaurant & Bar by Chef Manos this evening - the food was really excellent - definitely Greek, but with a very creative touch. I think our favourite was the Hilopites Moshari - yes, it's beef with noodles, but very different from anything I'd ever tried before. Also the feta-meli appetizer was different and delicious, but we decided it might have been better as a dessert. The restaurant is a Greek-Chinese partnership, as far as I understood it, with an accomplished Greek chef and Chinese management - a good combination! And the "Kouklos Old Fashioned" cocktail was wild, too. The service was excellent until they got a bit backed up, but they recovered well. Wonderful hidden little gem. Food is all around fantastic. The chicken, pork and lamb chops were all grilled perfectly with just the right amount of char and they are juicy and well seasoned. Lemon potatoes were yummy but not overly sour. One of us is vegetarian the halloumi watermelon salad was delightful and the eggplant was buttery tender. The complementary bread was fluffy with a textural crust. The phyllo cake has just the right amount of sweetness and generous portion even for 2. All around excellent for food and price and the staffs were down to earth and friendly. read more
